Text message notification for every email??? eh?

OK excuse me if Im asking a retarded question, but how do you turn off the text message notification every time an email comes in? I already get alerted for the email itself, dont need a text for it too!
I had this problem with my phone and T-6Mobile. It was on the network side and T-Mobile fixed the problem. I would suggest conacting your opeator.

Couple questions about the Treo Pro...

Couple things i'm sure someone can help me with but first one is:
When I receive a txt msg and say im consistently chatting with someone. If i dont exit and reopen the message the amount of unread msg's starts adding up even though I'm in the conversation with them on the window. So eventually after like 20 txts between the person, I have to exit and reopen the message to show all the messages have been read. Its so friggin annoying!!! Any solutions?
Another thing I just cant figure out but if I have call waiting and I'm in a call, how the hell do I switch to the other line on this phone???? I cant figure it out.
1. Use your d-pad to scroll up in the SMS app to clear unread messages...
2. You just push the green talk button to flash to the other line.
Sweet... I cooked my phone with Cfays 6.5.1 ROM and its fixed in that... When you get like 5 txt msgs, u read it once and they're all marked as read.... so happy.

[Q] Length of time new message icon stays

I'm not one for askin questions as a good search normally throws summat up along the lines of what i would be looking for but right now i'm stuck. This has annoyed me for a while now, when i've received an sms or email .etc notification and i read the sms the 'notification bubble' (the thing that shows how many messages i have) stays there if i come out of the message too quick, 99% of the time i have read the message and i have to wait for a couple of seconds to make sure that the number of new messages icon dissapears, is there any way of changing the length of time of this, so if i get a new message i can look at it and read it in a split second and the phone excepts that i dont have a 'new' message anymore?
My appologies if this has been answered as i figured it would be a common problem.......hangovers dont normally effect my searching abilities

[Q] SMS/MMS questions

hey guys searched but did not find the answer....
I just got the Tmobile g2 and im new to android OS, had a TP2 before. How can I set the MMS message of a contact to stay on longer? When I view a picture message it just stays on for a couple seconds then goes right back to the text message. Is there any setting that I can make this longer?
Also is there a setting somewhere that can make it so that when I click the contact's picture, it will dial that contact automatically? I had this feature in my TP2 and would love to set it up like that.
Thanks in advance all
I would recommend downloading chompsms. I just did this for the first time last week and it blows away the standard android sms app.

Thanks for the reply, I was able to find the answers to both question. I downloaded the Handcent sms app and so far loving it, i'll give chompsms a try.
SMS notification bug
Hello, I wonder if some one here have same problem: Some times my HTC Desire Z with latest ROM doesn't want to notify me that sms is received, and I should randomly go in to Messages folder and find out there that there are some unread messages. It is not a Settings problem, because it is happening randomly. Let's assume every 10 or 15 message will be missed. Also, If i see that there are unread messages, i can read them from Messages folder, not from notification bar. And if I do so, notification in notification bar will not disappear, until i clear it manually... really strange. Thanks for solutions.

The length of each slide is decided when composing the MMS. If the sender sets it to 7 seconds (5 is default) then it will only be on for 7s. Save the attachment and you can view it for longer.

Factory restore after update helped to solve this problem
Desire Z
I have the same issue and it wasnt this way on the vibrant or the original MyTouch 3G. When someone sends an MMS, say a picture message, it shows up as a short 10 second video. I have tried saving as an attachment but didnt seem to allow me to do that.

Multiple notifications for same text message

Just started doing this a little while ago but whenever I recieve a text it will send me multiple alerts for it. I can literally reply to the text lock my phone and it will send me an alert for the last message someone else sent me I swipe it away and then it goes off again for the message I just replied. Why do i need an alert for my own message i typed it why would I need an alert to see that? I tried looking through all the setting and short of turning notifications off all together I cant find how to get rid of this repeat pop ups. Someone please make me feel dumb and show me how to turn this off.
Thanks in advance.
