[Q] Which Vibrant Modem is best? - Vibrant General

Hello everyone
I am currently using Axura ROM, with the KB1 Modem.
I was wondering what modem is best for signal/speed? and also battery life
And also if i can actually flash a new one at all lol, i see that Axura is made for KB1, but can i change it?
Thank you in advance.

people ask this all the time
but really it depends where u live, in my experience i have horrible battery life with kb1 but it may not be the same with your case, u just have to try them to see which are the best jk6 and jk7 are usually better for battery life and they do actually have decent performance, im using ka7 and im happy with the battery life its great and i get go service with it

Awesome! Thank you
I have hit my limit but i will remember to hit thanks tomorrow

I'm using KB1 and I get both good signal and great battery life.

I try different combinations all the time. Sure it's a bit time consuming and I've had to Odin back a lot in the beginning because I had no idea of what I was doing but...Make sure you read and follow all the instructions lol. I love that the Vibrant is so customizable like this. I came from a Cliq. All you did was flash a zip and there you go.

i9088 is the China Unicom version of Galaxy S and one of the closest relatives to Captivate.
They share same appearance and major internal hardware.

This phone comes with the newest i9088 2.2.1 ROM ZNKP1 (Yes it's 2.2.1. AT&T sucks on ROM).
Tested myself, works with JPY (Darky 7.5) on 850 band, HSUPA support. Haven't tested GPS yet.
Flash with Odin.

I literally just flashed Cog 3.01 and Firebird 2.. I'm still feeling out the modem on this. I'll try it as soon as possible. Someone else try it and let us know!
I'll try this one out
I'm running Adams Firefly beta Armani Rom and firebird 2 Kernel. I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow with gps.
it'll be even better if you can post the ROM here, so we can have a crack out of it
Yeah.. We want that ROM!
Heres a CWM version if anyone wants it..
Sweet, I'll give this a try...
Voice sounds good, GPS is Average with locking it seems (Not sure about tracking), Data speeds down seems where it should be, upload speeds for me are above average by a few 100KB/S. Battery....not really sure I was actually losing battery % by having it plugged into my computer using it with wifi/GPS/BT all off and the screen at 0% brightness.....not sure if that's the modem with massive drain or my battery is just calibrating or something.
*Edit*
Yea, it's just my battery being stupid. So Battery with this is still up in the air.
you might wanna add a link to your ROM thread here, or ask a mod to merge these 2.

I was checking the ServiceMode and it seems this phone is having much less signal fach than TLJL3. Theoretically this should help extending battery life

Been using this since 2am est, will report throughout day.
Inserted spare fully charged battery @215am and made sure it was 100% then took it off charger.
Woke up at 8am, phone was off charger all night, battery at 88%
Got to work with no use down to 86%, fully charged at work.
Its just after noon and after a little texting (under 20) im at 90%.
Updates to come.

Dont know if my translator is correct but I read about a new Rom ZNKP2.. Could you look into this?
I was wondering if we need a captivate kernel.. to avoid bluetooth issues.. anybody using bluetooth?
Thanks..
Battery life seems to be decent for me using this. I'm using firefly/firebird 2 kernel.

I bet with speedmod kernel this would have insane battery life IMO

Using with Speedmod K12M, and I got literally 0% drain over 8hrs idel. So far this is one of the best, if not the best modem ive tried. I was using JK3 and switched back and forth with JK4, but this is giving me way better results. Yesterday I done a few test with K12M and JK3, (posted in Hardcores thread) i managed to get 7hrs with 67% left with pretty moderate use, used the phone like I would any other day, Ill do the same with this modem and post my results after 7-8hrs..but like I said, so far this thing is rocking!

I just tested myself. Down/Up speed is faster than JK4 at my location. Voice call quality is on par with jk4. Using hardcore K12M kernel.

speedtest result shows upload speed is about 0.5mb faster than JK4 and download speed is about the same.
i must say, this is VERY very good modem!

[Q] ROM with best battery life?

Hi there. There seems to be a number of tweaked ROM's for the Aria and unfortunately, I'm not tech savvy enough to understand the different kernels. From your personal experience, which ROM gave good battery life on the Aria?
I'm currently running CM7.0.0 and usually gets a day with normal usage. I'm willing to drop down to froyo if it means more battery life. Any input would be awesome.
if you use setcpu just flash my kernel as it has lower cpu speeds and no need for a screen off profile

Can you flash the kernel on any ROM? Do you lose any data? SetCPU bottoms out at 246 for me right now, but I know I've seen others here at lower. I'm running FR008.

Just because it's gingerbread doesn't make it awesome. Still has its downsides. 2.2.2 and fr008 have been so refined its stupid. I get the best battery life out of those. Setcpu with 2.2.2 gives me a warm sensation.
Sent from my HTC Aria using XDA App
CM7's battery life, when the GPS libraries aren't forcing the CPU to 100%, is good. A day or so. Maybe more.
2.2.2 is a little over a day on average, and CM6.1.1 can go up to as much as two days. So CM6 is the winner with battery life. But it's Froyo.
I'm getting two days with moderate usage with FR008...

By 2.2.2 do you mean Gene Poole's hfr003b? Do I just flash that as a ROM or are there other kernel or settings things I need to flash? There seems to be a lot of zips on his post. Sorry for my noobness

Flashing the ROM is enough. It comes with a kernel that will let you overclock only while you're using SetCPU. If you don't use that app it will run like a stock kernel and will give you great battery life. That's my choice and I'm happy with it.
Cool. Thanks everyone.

[Q] Best Stock Rom For Daily Use ?

Hi everyone !
I´ve been flashing roms frequently for like a year or so, testing each and every rom released.
Ones are clearly better than others, but every developer is making a good job.
The thing is, since my last 3 flashes,i'm experiencing a HUGE battery drain once i'm over 3G network, so i'm considering flashing a STOCK rom so i can use my phone correctly.
Which is the best BASE ROM i can have ? (JPS,JPQ,JPM... 2.2 Froyo ofc).
I'm tired of flashing and reflashing things that are not working 100%, stability is VERY important.
Also, any idea of whats happening to my 3G ? My battery life is OK once i'm not using the 3G network, but once i turn it on my battery goes down like water in a waterfall.
Thanks in advance.

JPM was very stable. But you can try JPS too.

Actually, all i need is a rom that does not EAT my battery over 3G network.
I guess i've messed up my battery flashing all those roms.
Since i've already calibrated it 3 times and it still draining as much as it was before the whole process

Over 3G usage ...you will definitely get low battery, due to resource usage over the high speed network.
Try My ROM and let me know if it helps your cause ... though my ROM is based on XXJPS and have lots of battery Customization to improve performance the battery backup as well.

I dont think it is normal to have my battery drained like hell over 3G Networks...
I mean,i wasnt like that,it started someday and never stopped.
Do you think that flashing a STOCK rom would fix it ?
All i want is to be able to stay connected to 3G for like 4-5 hours, maybe more.
If i turn it on,my battery drops to ZERO in matter of minutes.
Then its time to change your battery.same thing happens with me.i have already changed so many roms...but after data network on battery drops in 10min...

Which custom ROM to pick?

Would be lovely if we could get a brief introduction of the different custom ROM's out there for S6 Edge Plus.
I can update this post with what I/we learn.
Okay, I can begin with asking; which ROM has most features, customizations and 'neatyness'?
I'm currently running BoBCaTRoM.

As we have not much options in present days, you have a chance to try them all. In my opinion; Audax is the best.. Seems not has many features? You can do all as you wish. Thanks.
I'm currently using the CRISSCROSS ROM v1.6. It's extremely good and you can add and remove alot of stuffs on the ROM (under AROMA Installer) before you are installing the ROM. So there are alot of options to choose from.

Recommendations?

Hey guys,
I've ran this thing stock from day one. I've loved it, but the itch is coming back. I need mods. I need kernels. I need mo cowbell!
That being said, I think I'm still going to run stock for now. Anyone recommend a specific kernel? I've been looking at HolyDragon a lot. I'm looking for a bump in performance with a significant jump in battery life.
Also, anyone use that stereo speaker mod? How does that work for you guys on speaker phone calls?

You need to flash sky dragon ROM. Its made by the same dev who codes holy angel kernel and the kernel is included in the ROM. I can easily get over 8hrs of screen on time and the mods are pretty decent. I wish they included status bar and navbar colors on the mods but oh well. The ones they come with are enough to keep the phone looking fresh , especially the nifty built-in font changer. Trust me you won't regret it.

If you want great performance and battery life, check out the SkyDragon rom, it's got the HolyDragon kernel built in and I get 8-9 hours of SOT.
In my opinion I feel that Smurf Kernel ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/development/kernel-smurfkernel-2-0-49-t3868360 ) gives me the best battery life. I recommend this one to anyone with this phone.
I'm running stock rom with Omega Kernel. After calibration of a day or so battery life pushes me towards 8hrs of SOT with 42-46 hours of battery life.
