Hi.
I was using 2.1 (I5801DXJG5 - Ecclair) without any problems.
When i update to 2.2 (I5800XXJPM & I5801ZFJPE, tried both),
Proximity sensor dont work during calling... But under Sensors in *#0*# mode, it works fine... It just doesnt work during calling..
And builtin cam crashes time to time.
Any clues guys?
Thanks in advance.
ok... i dont what i did... but the proximity sensor works after few calls. i was thinking, every time i make a call, i'll press the power button to go screen off mode.. but after few calls, proximity sensor works...
as for camera... i turn off the use sensor aiding under location and security settings.. and cam works fine...

Hi all,
I've installed TouchLockPro as suggested at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5254295#post5254295
Initial testing seems to prove that it has fixed the problem, well it's a workaround.
It senses (via the G sensor) if the phone is held upright during a call and turns the screen off- no need to rely on the poor proximity sensor.
Please test and let me know how you get on.
There doesn't seem to be any config- just install and it works.
If your proximity sensor does not work then return the device. I have no problems with it at all. Only think I would say is for it to also switch things on/off when phone not in use.
I used to have problems with the proximity sensor but it's been working perfectly since I upgraded to 1.48.
FYI- The proximity sensor does work on my phone. It just proves to be intermittent at sensing- this has been documented by other users.
The main problem is that it doesn't work very well next to hair. So I don't have any problems with the proximity sensor, but my wife (with long hair) does.
proximity sensor works fine for me as long as I don't use the keypad during a call; once i enter anything during a call (like calling card number, extensions etc) the proximity sensor stops working.
I think this bug doesn't show up when using the wired headset, have to confirm this though.
After two weeks testing I found out that the original screen protector with the two holes for the sensor makes the problems!!!
thake the screen protector out or cut it and the proximity sensor will work perfect.

Hi,
I have yu yureka Mobile phone and its rooted, but everything running well except Proximity Sensor. When I call/Receive Someone the Sensor doesn't work. Can you please Suggest how to Solve this problem.
Upgrade to Lolipop and calibrate the proximity sensor.
To calibrate the Proximity sensor open phone dialer and enter *#*#7769#*#* (aka *#*#PROX#*#*) and tap on START. When Calibration Good appears, exit. Done.
didnt help- *#*#7769#*#* didnt help fix the issue.
Proximity sensor still doesn't work
*#*#7769#*#*....do it 4-5 times....and reboot..clear all the data of dialer.. ..then reboot
As in the title proximity sensor stopped working during call, but only when taking from the ear. It don't wake up screen anymore. Anybody facing same problem? Is there a solution?
me too, all other sensor works except proximity that works one tiem then nothing
Waiting for asus fix the proximity sensor can be disabled from dialer settings to avoid the black call screen.
For me too!! It's very annoying . i have used xposed "sensor Disabler" module as a work around to completely disable proximity sensor!
I had the same on Android 5. Double tap the power button wakes it up.
Hi,
i've always the pb of proximity sonsor or somthing in that field when i'm installing a custom rom of android 6.0, 7.0 or 7.1 such as (OptimizedCM-14.1-20161121-BETA1-AROMA, JDCTeam_jdc_jflte-7.1-20161117-BETA, MK60.1-jfltexx-201605070057-NIGHTLY)
so when i make a call, via messenger or my sim dialer, the screen turns off and won't turn on if i push power or home buttons.
so, what's the solution of this pb i'm suffering from, from a long time...
Does the phone work properly on a stock ROM? Did you try disabling the proximity sensor or disabling the screen-off function?

Yes, i'm now on 5.0.1 (stock rom) it works fine
how can i disable the proximity sonsor or the screen-off function?
This sure looks as a problem with the proximity sensor, the s4 is known for accumulating dust and grease on top of it. Open your phone with a small Phillips tool, remove it and clean it. It will work as new.
Don't think it's a hardware problem since the sensor works properly on a stock ROM.
Sorry, I no longer have an s4 and I don't remember how to disable the proximity sensor in a custom or stock ROM.
This is my phone's issue. The proximity sensor doesnt work properly and it turn off the screen when I making call and I cant turn on the screen. It drives me crazy! I disembled my phone and clean the sensor but it didnt work! My thanks!

Try to calibrate your sensor. Go here for steps : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569141
