[Q] Density changed. Graphic issues? - Galaxy Tab General

I've changed the density to 180. Now, whenever someone calls me, the background of the "slide-to-pick-up-the-call" screen doesn't resize properly. What can I do?

You can accept that its screwed (graphically) and move on there isn't anything you can do to make it fit.

Get "spare parts" from the market and turn off compatibility mode. That will solve most resizing issues. (It will need a reboot to take effect.)
Also, if you're bothered about recording video then set the lcd density to a minimum of 182. Any lower than that and you can't record video.
Hope this helps

^^No, it won't fix the issue OP is facing!
@OP: You have two choices: Either accept it as Ganjdroid says and move on! OR
you could sit and fix the phone apk to allow it to scale properly. In one of my previous posts, I have posted a link to the thread explaining the procedure to do that. Search for it. Good luck.

i used a density of 171 on Overcome 1.4.2
recording videos works with canera.apk from miui port

No, that thread is about modding the "DialerTabActivity.apk". Samsung Galaxy Tab doesn't have that apk. So, it quite useless :/

Cannot find this app in Android Marketplace?

I'm currently trying Plenems donut build and Myns build, but in both I cannot find this app:
World Forecast Clock Widget
http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/org.satok.gweather/
Plenems build is supposed to be the full market (and I can see paid apps), but this app is free. Every time I search, it comes back with no results.
Is it because it requires a higher resolution or something?
Thanks.
If things haven't changed since I read about it then the resolution when you first boot and setup your google account will determine what apps you get to see in the Market. So your assumption that the resolution plays a roll in the problem you've described is most probably true.
Usually the rule of thumb is to boot the first time with the highest resolution to have high res apps shown in the Market. Then install the apps that you need and finally restart Android with your preferred resolution.
You might want to look around in the forums for detailed instructions on tricks to keep the high res apps from disappearing after being back to the lower resolutions. Usually after a week or so they disappear.
Have fun Droiding!
P.S. you've switched the m and n in Plemen's username.
So do the high-res apps work with the lower resolution after I switch back? Better yet, is there any way to get the .apk so I don't have to do this trick?
> P.S. you've switched the m and n in Plemen's username.
Sorry, the mistake was unintentional.

sorry if my FAQ was not organized enough or clear enough for you to find the answer, it's a work in progress. market enabler only allows you to see paid apps. plemen's ealier build emulated this by using the same t-mobile settings to identify the device. this has nothing to do with the resolution problem and not seeing some free apps. you need to back up your data file and boot a new one with 320x480 as your resolution. see here.

resolution change and market crash

I've changed the "ro.sf.lcd_density=120" value in build.prop file with a lower value(110), which have as resault a smaller font size. All apps and seems to work fine after this change, except market. Market crash when trying to tap on an app. I can open it, see the list of apps or search for an app, but crashes everytime I'm trying to access on an app for download. I tried several different versions that I found here, but this happens in every version.
How can I solve this issue?
I would like to keep this setting, but loosing market is a big lost.
Any ideas or help?
Im sorry that im posting here, but i didnt want to make new thread, since my question concers smilar thing So, if i understood correctly, changing resolution makes apps and games work as fine as on other models with higher rez ? If so, how i can do that ? btw, i have rooted my tattoo and got a cm mod. Thanks in advance

No need to post in dev forum, maybe Q&A would have gotten more attention..
Does the Gallery force close when you try to load it? Or what specifically is the issue you are experiencing w Gallery?
I use Handcent for SMS/ MMS and am able to receive pictures. In whichever messaging app you use, go to your settings and make sure that the "auto-retrieve" option is checked. Or maybe this will help.?

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't necessarily force close it just takes me to the gallery page but nothing loads. Its not all the time but it does frequently. Also its like when I get a picture message I can't open it to enlarge the image it will just go black. Sometimes it will load after like ehhh 10 seconds or so =\

might have a corrupt file in there. try moving all of your pics (except for one you sure works) to your pc. and try to load up the gallery you might need to clear the data under manage applications.
I have no idea why, but my phone is gingerbread v 3.5 unfriendly (at least this is my speculation). It installs just fine, but my touchscreen will not function, nor will the fingerprint scanner. After a while, the screen will shut off, and I will not be able to wake the phone from it's slumber. At first, I thought that the phone auto shut down, but It later randomly awakened to prove my theory on this wrong. The four touch buttons at the bottom hint that they are reading, but nothing else does. The power button is also unresponsive. I will attempt to use GreyBlur to further localize the problem.
Following up on my last post, GreyBlur v 2.1 reacts in the same manner. I will now attempt to find a method to undo everything that I have done thus far, including the rooting. Does anybody know a method to do this?
just go back to the guide and only do the first step.
I have attempted to reinstall the roms to see if that had any effect, and it did not. In addition, My phone is still set to not allow interaction with internal usb memory, so I cannot touch the original files that I placed on the phone. Also to note, I'm not completely sure why, but the touch screen does not respond, neither does the power button, volume buttons, or fingerprint scanner. So in the end, I can't log into my phone, nor can I alter any settings. I am able to still enter recovery mode and navigate, so I know the hardware itself is not broken.
you can't flash a base sbf through rsd?

Where are my Apps???

I got the boot loop. I did the 8 shutdown, updated to 1.3, installed 4.5.25, then 4.6.16, then did the Flash update.
My market opens but I can not get any of my previously installed apps to show up so I can install them again. Apps like Angry Birds, Dolphin Browser, Moon+reader, are not even showing up when I do a search for them.
I followed all these steps under the first tread relating to Market has limited visibility. Everything else seems to be working fine.
Any suggestions on how I can get my previously installed apps to install again?
If I go to Android Market on my computer I can see the apps that were once installed. There are around 25. I just don't see them on my NC anymore.
My market version is 3.1.5, Is this the latest version??

I am running MN 4.6.16
When I go to Android Market on my computer I see under settings it says there are no devices associated with this account, this is probably why they are not showing on my NC.
How do I associate my NC to my account?
124 views and no suggestions??????????????
I'm running CM7, not stock, so I can't help.
But about Market issue, make sure having dpi set to 160.
That should be the very first step.
So now 149 views and still no suggestions.

That referred to someone running CM7, where I am running MN 4.6.16. If this would help I would love to try it.
So, how do I go about changing my density to 160?
Thanks

If I would remove the very first line of my #5 post above, would you consider that a suggestion?
Word of advice: pls do some search, there's plenty of threads talking about the very specific issue of yours.

Actually I have been reading every post for the past few weeks trying to find an answer to my problem.
My problem, and I will go over it again. On my computer when I go to the Android market, under my account I can see all the apps that I had previously installed. When I go under settings it says : there is no device associated with this account.
How do I re-associate my Nook Color with my Android Account so I can re-install my apps?
When I do a search for these apps from the market on my Nook Color, none of them show up.
Apps in question: Dolphin HD Browser, Angry Birds, Moon+ reader, Aidiko, Yahoo Mail, ...... none of these show when I do a search.
I have done the 8 restart, started back from 1.0.0, updated to 1.3, applied MN 4.5.18, then 4.6.16, did the Flash Player.zip fix, did the Market has limited visibility fix, did the lcd density fix.
I have been asked a few time to either create or use an existing google account, when this has happened I thought it would finally associate my NC to my Android Market account, but it doesn't.
So yes, I have done searches, and have tried everything I can think of. Now I am asking for any suggestion.
Another suggestion: get the Market FIXED first.
I have done this at least 20 times. So I need to keep doing it? How will this associate my NC with my Android Market Account?
Market has limited visibility - This is a known tablet issue, not just a NOOKcolor one.
Start Nook Color Tools.
Select the "All Settings" button.
Unplug your NOOKcolor from computer. (If Plugged in.)
Choose "Manage Applications" from the list.
Select the "All" tab.
Scroll down to "Market" and select it.
Tap "Force stop".
Tap "Clear cache".
Tap the Back button if you have SoftKeys running, else swipe right to left on the status bar at the bottom of the screen (from the clock to the book icon).
Scroll up to "Google Services Framework" and select it.
Tap "Clear data".
Tap "OK".
Tap "Force stop".
Press the n button to return to your launcher.
Start Market.
At the "An error has occurred" message, tap "OK".
Hold your power button to turn off your NOOK Color from the menu.
Turn your NOOK Color back on and give it a moment to find your WiFi connection.
Start Market again, and the problem is resolved.
I really want to help you but, pls forgive me if I've missed, I failed to see you mentioned or made sure the lcd_density set to 160 dpi.
Did you?
Yes, in post #11, I downloaded LCD Resolution and made sure density was at 160.

Try this.... clear market data and cache... clear vending data.... use LCD resolution to set 240... start market.... see if you have everything then.
It is also possible that since rooting stock leaves the device fingerprint... everything may not show up in market.
Thanks, I will give that a try

Maybe something was wrong on my end or I need an eye check-up, but I can't see anything mentioned about 160 dpi on your post #11, at all.
Anyway, try what Dizzy suggested.
Wish you luck.

It was at 160, so I didn't have to change anything, sorry I didn't add the number 160 but did say I checked the lcd density.
Thanks again Dizzy I will try try your suggestion.

[Q] Screen Rotation

Not quite sure where to post this, so I'll try here. Mods, please move to the correct forum if it is in the wrong one.
Back when the OG Droid came out, the screen could rotate all 4 ways (up, landscape left, landscape right, upside down). Never had a need for it, but it was cool. I noticed that as Android evolved, being able to hold your device upside down disappeared. Again, never had a need for it, so IO didn't care.
Now, I need it. In my car, I put the phone in the cupholder of my armrest/center console. Because the charging and headphone jack is on the bottom, I have to operate everything upside down. Is this an Android or manufacturer *feature* that was removed? Can it be put back? Can a mod be made to make it work?
I don't want a dock for my phone, I've had them before, and don't like them. I also like to have full control of my phone, not just what the manufacturer wants me to control.
Thanks.
There seem to be a few apps in the Play store that may help, here is one that looks promising:
Edit: can't post links. Do a search for Screen Rotation Control

I never thought to look for an app. Thanks, I'll check it out right now.
EDIT: Turns out it's a no-go. It has the option for reverse portrait, but it doesn't work.
If you have rooted your phone look for Roms that support this.

Ultimate Rotation Control by FAMEIT *does* support reverse portrait or at least the licensed version does. But I did root, not sure if that matters.
Good luck!

Dang. There were a few options but that one looked promising by the description.
Try a search in the app store for "Reverse Portrait" and give the free ones a shot...? Some seem to have a "force" option for when it doesn't happen automatically (or lock in reverse portrait). If they can be invoked with one click, it wouldn't seem too much of an inconvenience.
Edit: Rotation Control Lite was the one I was looking at, might try that myself.
