Hey guys, perhaps you know it.....
But if you don't know it yet....... Here's a nice launcher
You can download the launcher from the market. I find it very awesome.
ADW LAUNCHER
here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684874
I am using it now as my default home launcher. I am very impressed with it and congrats to the developer.
Agreed
fantastic launcher
prefer it to launcherpro
Thx

Thanks. Looks really good. This may be a stupid question but is there any way to get the HTC widgets to appear in the menu and be usable with this launcher? I quite like the HTC weather and mail widgets.
I also prefer it over launcher pro.
The only thing bugging me is that desktop scrolling seems quite a bit more sluggish than on the launcher pro.
Not the scrolling speed itself, that's configurable.
It's just not as smooth as I was used to, especially when using a bigger widget. Launcher pro seemed happy with just about everything I threw at it.
Anybody else noticed this?

Desktop scrolling speed: 364, Overshot: 30
I have the exact same widgets and icons on both launcher pro and ADW and if I hold and drag the screens slowly the ADW is clearly choppy while the launcher pro is smooth as silk.
I have scrolling at 750
and overshoot at 50
seems fine to me ?
Launcher pro is my personal favourite, have used this also.
It wasn't just me then.
Scroll lag fixed in 0.73. Made my day, I gotta donate soon
So i am trying to figure out which launcher to use... I like the lp cuz I really like the 3d app drawer, but overall I like the adw launcher better...is there a way to get 3d app drawer on adw launcher?

Not until @anderwebs implements it. I'm in the same boat, almost. LP is a little smoother and has very cool widgets. ADW is open-sourced and that makes it 1000% better. Plus, anderweb is one funny guy but for some reason he does not want to implement 3D effect to the drawer, I think he wants to release ADW Pro version (paid) with some crazy animations and 3d effect later. Not a big deal for me at this point since CM latest broke 3D in both stock and LP so I can't have it either way.
Anderwebs is concerned about adw taking a performance hit with the 3d ago drawer. I have both, and keep coming back to adw.
BLAHHH!! I was hoping to hear a solution to where I can push 3D app drawer to ADW, BLAAST! kk well I will have to wait then.
I probably wont get any replys to this but its worth a shot i guess. Ive noticed that launcher pro and launcher pro plus (same thing) have extremely slow/laggy 3D app drawers if you enable them. I dont know about most people but i love the look of the 3D app drawer but i cant stand how laggy it is when it opens and closes. Normal scrolling through the apps after its open is blazing fast with no lag at all just when you open or close it you get this lag. Even on a clean rom flash you get this. I have an EVO 4G and have tried launcher pro on multiple other phones with the same outcome. Multiple Roms and all. Now the question is this, i just downloaded this random "Gingerbread Launcher" from the android market that is just your basic gingerbread launcher with a 3D app drawer, this thing is PERFECT not one bit of lag in it at all. I dont understand why the dev of launcher pro can not get his 3D launcher to be smooth like this one. Does anyone know anyway to fix this issue? or a way to maybe compile the 3D launcher from the gingerbread launcher and stick it in the launcherpro apk?

Haven't seen the slightest bit of lag using 3D drawer on my G2 Vision, clocked @ 1.2Ghz, but even at stock speeds (806Mhz) it's still smooth as butter... are you running a sense rom or a "vanilla" rom? If you're on a sense rom and just installed LP+ over top of rosie, that might be your issue... ??? Something is up though... shouldn't act like that on an evo...

Why dont u tell us what launcher you installed so we cam look at it im also gunna test out the 3d app drawel and see if i get any lag.

i usually run cyanogen's latest stable rom for my phone, right now im running his latest nightlie which is cm7 (gingerbread) and i still get a little shakyness and lag. The gingerbread launcher im talking about is the one by Eugene373 in the android market, u can search for gingerbread launcher and its like 4th one down, there is a free and donate version.
also i always remove ADW launcher as well, so the only launcher that is running is launcherpro and nothing else. I have a taskkiller running and have my cpu overclocked as much as it can be so i dont know what the deal is.
One of the main reasons I went back to MIUI from CM7 is the lag on home launchers. I think it's just an issue that needs to be ironed out. Didn't matter if it was launcher pro, adw, or go. Still laggy.
i never had any lag using go launcher, i just recently moved back to LPP because of the recent update with the screen transitions and i noticed he said he recoded the whole app and so i figured things like app drawer laggyness would have been fixed. I dont understand how hard it can be, i mean if he can create an app as great as launcher pro why cant he fix the app drawer shakyness and this random dev can come out with a whole gingerbread style launcher with absolutly NO lag in it at all.
*note*
i am a donater to launcherpro so i can complain
I don't know, I'm using it on a stripped sense rom (virtuous) so I would think my rom would exhibit lag before a CM6/7 build would... it may be hardware (though unlikely) if it is a common problem on evo and not other phones? anyone else with evo experiencing this lag?
Going off topic but the LPP rewrite was not in the last update, the dev mentioned how hard it had been writing a launcher from scratch because no one else has done this (I think). The gingerbread launcher is just pulled from the SDK. I assume even the MIUI launcher is based on the android default launcher.

the lag im getting isnt HORRIBLE lag, most people would probably be ok with it, its just the fact that its slightly shaky and jump on the zoom in and out that just bugs me, i hate any lag/shakyness in my phone at all. Maybe ill try to play around with combining the two idk.
I am in the same boat as OP ... I am using VaelPak 3.1 beta 1 with launcher pro and only GOD knows how bad I hate that lag when you open the 3D drawer ... seems like it open in two steps ... I wish I could find a solution to fix this rather start using other launchers.
Just put on Gingerbread yay... but...
Music app is still the same... I thought it was meant to change?
And the notifcation pull down has light grey backgrounds for the items. Looks kinda out of place, I thought they would be black.
Launcher seems a little laggy too
Is this the same experience for everyone else? Has something gone wrong with my update?
Music app doesn't change...
Same experience here. I had already been using CM7 so I wasn't surprised.
LauncherPro is super smooth on gingerbread though. Even with the live wallpaper. It didn't feel this fluid on CM7.

LauncherPro is smooth for you? It took a performance hit for me on GRI40.
On 2.2 and the AOSP 2.3 builds, the drawer open/close animation (without 3D and without a live wallpaper) was incredibly smooth, but for some reason now it's slightly choppy when opening and closing.

i can confirm this 100%. With 2.2.1 i had completely smooth scrolling with LP, but after GB update the animations are stuttery and i also have never used the 3d drawer and don't use live wallpapers.
So this is definetly real. Hope LP will fix that soon.
I found the GB (stock) launger laggy after it first installed too.
I just did a full wipe on the phone (from within Android, including SD card) and when the phone rebooted, there was no lag.
More than likely, the phone just needed to have rebooted.
Yeah, experience the same LP choppiness on both 2.3/CM7. Has to be a LP specific issue. Impatiently waiting for the LP rewrite...

well, a full wipe is no option for me...i'm not rooted and therefore don't have a backup. And i have no time to setup everything again.

Yeah I had the same issue, made a thread over at their bugg forums
Just got my 16gb tab and only thing that bugs me is the scrolling performance of the homescreen. I removed all widgets and still experiance lag. Does this frustrate anyone else?
The TF I have seems fine. Did you update the TF? Not sure if the newer verson helps or not.
newest version installed yup . Everything else is very smooth though. Strange
I'm using adw.launcher it seems smoother to me.

Mine was laggy with a live wallpaper, with a regular wallpaper it is smooth.
Very smooth here. In fact, it feels smoother than the Xoom with widgets, etc.
Slightly laggy. I have optimism they'll improve this for 3.1. Rumor has it, they're going to have better graphics acceleration for general system use. Hopefully we'll see better responsiveness as well as faster video/Youtube performance.
Last night, my home screen/launcher locked up entirely. Not sure what was up with that... a reboot fixed it. I'm using the latest stock Asus firmware.

Don't use adw its really bad (atleast for me) I took the launcher pro apk from my phone and emailed it to myself to install to the asus. Its a lot smoother than adw and original launcher. But I hope the new version of honeycomb fixes the lag or (slight lag)
Edit+ download the apk here http://www.launcherpro.com/
Any news about new 3.1 android FW coming?
And will transformer with its HW suffice for future honeycomb updates?
Fast reboot ftw.
it could be the size of the wallpaper. i think decompressed the default pic is 29MB.
