HDMI vs. Webtop - Atrix 4G General

I'm having trouble remembering what app/hack enabled me to play movies on my HDTV while converting my atrix to a mouse/trackpad and showed my phone on the tv... can anyone tell me what it is and how to get it?

Samsung TV Compatability

I have a 56" Samsung DLP HDTV HL56A650.
I know the TV has wiselink but I am pretty sure not wiselink+.
I have hooked my phone into the wiselink usb slot and successfully viewed pictures and music that is stored on the phone. As far as I can tell right now, it will not play .mkv videos, but does support x264.
I also can't seem to find out how to hook my TV up to the Ethernet which leads me to believe I don't have the + with my wiselink.
Anyone else have a Samsung TV that they can do this on?
Maybe wrong forum? This is not a TV help forum.
Yeah, wiselink has nothing to do with the phone... it just uses the SD card as mass storage.
Wireless DLNA is what the SGS is all about..
i believe Kies has video convertor for the .mkv files
I have a Samsung LN46A950. I have it plugged into my network via ethernet, and when I start the DLNA server on my Vibrant it shows up as a server on my TV. I'm able to view pictures and the Avatar trailer this way, but I can't play video. Apparently my TV doesn't support the correct CODEC to play Vibrant's video files.
It's a non-issue for me since I have an HTPC connected to my home theater that can obviously handle any format. I still kinda wish my TV could play the files, though, just because it'd be cool.
Thanks dex. Thats the kinda resoonse I was lookin for. I dont particularly need help with my tv, was just interested in seeing if anyone else has had success with playing videos from their vibrant to their samsung tv.

[Q] External Display

My EVO was run over by a car and amazingly enough the glass did not crack and it still boots up. I was wondering if I could Use the ADB or HDMI to do some kind of video out so I could use my evo to stream video to my TV or something else?
I'm confused.
What's the EVO being run over have anything to do with this?
I think you are supposed to be able to stream YouTube via HDMI out... not sure about videos on the device.
Try this.... Remote desktop for your Evo
code.google . com/p/androidscreencast/ Using USB
Or use
appbrain . com/app/siir.es.adbWireless for wireless

Does MT4G do video out

like the Vibrant?
Thanks,
ive used screen share through dlna it uses wifi and a dlna compliant tv. works great.
It doesn't do video out through the headphone jack like the Vibrant does. You can buy a micro USB-video out but I haven't tried it. Saw it here:

TV Out
I tried to find out if our myTouch 4G could do TV out and have gotten nowhere. I'm tempted to try out the link and order the device as I don't have a DLNA television yet.
I read on a different thread that it doesn't have the hardware to do video out. I believe this because there's no setting for it like on the Raphel.
DLNA (UPNP) is clearly "the future". But much like bluetooth it will probably be several years before it is commonplace. I bet you get 3 new phones before you get a new TV.
FWIW, I did try the DLNA to a PS3 and it does work very well.
I just hooked it up with the USB cable to a BlueRay player that has a USB input. With some fiddling around, it brought up the pictures but not the video. That might be due to the format of the video. I will try converting one to another format and see if it works for video also.
The BlueRay player is 2009 vintage, so newer ones might handle the 3gp format.
Please post questions in the Q&A section.

[Q]PS3 &Tablet

Hi first post: hope I can get an answer well I was playing ps3 the other day and one of my friend says we should stream our matches for the facebook group we have since this tablet have an HDMI port I was wondering if is possible to connect the ps3 to the tablet and stream to Justin TV or record the game play some way? Thx for all the help
No, the hdmi on your tablet is only to output signals too your tv and not the other way around.
so there's no way to stream from my tablet?
Yes and no, Yes you can stream stuff from your tablet, no you can't stream what you want, though I've read someone used their A500 as a wireless keyboard for their ps3......

DVD playback on Tablet?

I have an Acer Iconia A500 tablet and want to use it to keep my daughter busy on road trips and such... I want to plug a small DVD player in via the HDMI cable and have the aduio/video come out onto the tablet but I dont know where to start with this... Any help??
I'm pretty sure the HDMI port on the tablet only works as an HDMI out. You'd be better off downloading the movies and put them in the tablet's memory or getting Netflix and use wifi tethering on your phone for data.
If you know a bit about custom kernels/modules you could also try adding ISO support (via USB)... I'm pretty sure there are some players around that handle MPEG2PS (but probably not CSS). Best option: run your DVDs through handbrake and be done with it (see also this thread).
