i test it with ice back of the batterie, and it never closed!
Any help?

I have problem with X10 when Im using GPS and charging phone, phone reboots after some time I didnt watch battery temperature but it looks like overheating...I will follow battery temp next time...
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

I'm also facing similar issue, but during charing (so far noticed).
I've another thread, if you would like to check it out, here it is.

Also i have this problem without charge the phone.

Yesterday I had a 2+ hour phone call while on the charger and mine barely was warm but I wasn't holding the phone either.
Last night I was Downloading a large file, Listening to music and playing a game while on the charger and although the phone was warm, it didn't shut down.

No I don't, never had any reason to use one.

I have overheating problems when i play pocket legends, once i check the temp and it was 58'C but my phone never close...

Yeah whenever I play glow hockey when the phone is charging, temp goes to 56 degrees and thereabouts! Have to power off phone and wait for a while.
Temp doesn't go up if its not being charged.
Also, this didn't happen in stock SE. Only on Wolfbreak's CM

What application do ypu use to see the temp?

My SGS got fried!

Today I had the worst surprise ever! I was playing with my SGS for around 2h straight on internet.
suddenly the phone went off. It was burning up. It drained the entire battery(it was full). I had to wait for half an hour before being able to turn it on.when I managed to turn it on the phone had wiped my settings and could not connect to the cartier network. I went to my store and they changed it for a new one.
Dit it happen to anyone else? Now I have to instal everything again.

To be honest: It hardly comes as a surprise to me, playing two hours straight over the internet (what kind of game was it anyways?) over WLAN or APN would heat up the Galaxy Really fast. Burning up would mean about 45°-50° C

Nah, I've played 3d games with wifi and everything on for more than 2 hours on the SGS with no issues. Sounds to me like his device was very faulty to begin with (or he is just trolling - more likely).
The lady plays games on mine for hours at a time regularly, often only stops because she's drained the battery. Never had any issues with it though.

Must be some faulty hardware then...
I was not even playing 3D games. Just downloading some apps from market and reading threads on XDA. Can you come up with a reason why it overheated with two hors of internet browsing?

Maybe you have a duff battery. The phone may be made in Korea, but the battery comes from China
common causes:
1. bad battery
2. connected to AC adapter
3. environment temp over 35c
4. humidity of the environment
5. you got sweaty hands/dripping sweat drops into device
The galaxy can get VERY hot.I'm
Very surprised by the levels of excessive heat from it...

it's the same for other cell phones, my old HTC Athena, gets really burning hot to the hand when used for a long time doing WiFi or 3G or GPS

Overheating

This thing gets hot! Just been configuring launcher pro which took around 5 minutes and wasn't data intensive and the back of the phone is really hot. So much that I can smell the plastic heating up! The battery drained real fast during the process too.
Anyone else experiencing this ?
Well that doesn't sound good! I haven't had anything like that. Have you checked the power intake?

I have the exact same problem, it happens especially when I play any games or intensive appliaction. The battery drains and it gets hot next to the camera, I suspect this is where the cpu lives. Do you think its because its rooted? because I rooted it as soon as I got it so I dont know what it was like before.
And as I am away from the uk for the next six weeks I cant even send it back to O2
No nothing to do with root, mine was same before and after, pretty normal to get hot on some demanding apps.

It gets really hot sometimes though, not to the extent of burnt plastic smell but it gets pretty uncomfortable touching around lens at the back.
I've been going through this this morning. It seems that the CPU loves to go up to 1.2GHz even if it doesn't need to be that high (and it stays there). Also there I've also been noticing through ADB shell that their are a few niggles. For example the wi-fi sharing process can start without even being activated.
For example this was a ADB shell top taken while running Cordy downclocked to 800MHz in setcpu. The phone was a tiny bit warm but only by the camera (where the CPU is). Basically, this just shows that if you are playing a game, nothing else is going on so the CPU shouldn't be going up to 1200MHz. And it plays the same as when it isn't underclocked.
I'm currently assisting Pulser with investigating this until he gets his SGS2.

If you do, freeze anything that mentions wifi sharing, unless you are going to use wifi hotspot and kies air a lot.

My phone got so hot that it shut itself down!
since that i have done a complete reset of the phone and started from scratch again....100% better.
The problem as i see it is with all the 'tinkering' that we users do. All the additional launchers etc and widgets that you add really seem to mess the phone up!
My advice is keep the phone as samsung intended it...or at least change very little. You will see far improved battery life and none of the over heating problems.
Just my opinion but its worked for me.

that's just not true.
Mine gets hot aswell .. it's random sometimes but usualy with playing games etc. I suspect it has something to do with the samsung drivers/software and not our tinkering.
Bugs bugs bugs...
Mine also gets fairly hot, which might be a little uncomfortable - but that's the sacrifice you make when you get such a high powered device in such a small space.
Well, amount of apps/tinkering/etc has nothing to do with the phone getting got UNLESS an installed app in messing something up.I have heard many such cases when a rogue app made the CPU run at 100% in different phones. If that's the case you have to find and remove the app.I'd suggest OS monitor for finding it.Never happened to me though!
What's more,it's normal for it to get more hot than your average phone,as it carries more power under the hood and has nothing to help it dissipate the generated heat,as it's plastic. The Desire HD does a very good job with managing heat and I have never exceeded 40 C,even when gaming with an overclock at 1.8GHz and performance governor. Not saying the DHD is better, but Samsung wouldn't have left something like this if it would damage the phone. So I tend to believe that it's designed to get hot.
Mine has overheated twice.
Both times, when trying to pair itself automatically to my car kit. The phone got really really hot (i noticed it warming my leg in my jeans pocket) and needed the battery pulling out to reset it. When it started back up, the running temp was nearly 50 degrees (in standby, it runs at about 27)
Hasn't done it since though, just keeping my eye on it!

User tip: Don't accidentally leave Google Sky Map on while you sleep.

Well I somehow rolled over my phone in bed while the screen was unlocked and turned on Google Sky Map. A couple hours later I awoke and checked the time on my X10. It was the hottest it's ever gotten. I exited Google Sky Map and turned off the screen and moved the phone to a cool spot.
Checked the historical temperature using Juiceplotter. It got up to 60°C. Averaged 56°C for the 2.5 hours. That is troubling.

That's a useful tip, although not many people intentionally would leave Google Sky Map on while they're sleeping.
On a related matter, when the phone or any other similar gadget gets hot DON'T try to force it to cool down using blow-dryers or placing it in the fridge etc... It will do more harm than good. Better leave it where it was, switch it off for 10 minutes and let the CPU calm down on its own.
The motherboard will thank you!

Lol, I've ran it really hot as well. Never with google sky though.
I mounted it on my windshield during the day, used it as a GPS, and streamed pandora for an hour or two at the same time. HOT.
At least we're not alone. Same thing with the Nexus One, HD2-Android, original Droid, etc. All those with a first gen snapdragon.
Thanks for the tip My_Immortal. I usually let it cool down if it gets too hot. But if I was in a rush... would probably had tried to actively cool it down, haha.
Lol the arc gets hot by itself sometimes in my pocket

I think Google Sky Map overrides the auto screen shut off and kept the a-GPS going the whole time and that's why the temp. kept rising.
Yeah, when I turned it off I just moved it to another cooler part of the bed. Think I would have done more damage by throwing it in the fridge. I wonder if there is some sort of temperature threshold where android or the phone will turn itself off regardless of what's running.

Yes, Google Sky Maps uses GPS, accelerometer, compass, keeps screen on...
Very stressful to the CPU! Luckily it only makes sense to use it outside at night, which mostly means in lower temperatures!
I had an overheating incident once while using xRecovery.
The phone was making a nandroid backup and I fell asleep during,
when I woke up 5 hours later, the backup was finished of course,
the screen was on (it never goes off in xRec) and the battery was so HOT I could barely touch it!!!

Lol, did your battery not drain to 0%? xRecovery drains battery for me :O. When I was on school I was making a nandroid backup for installing straight after school CM7. But after the break I forgot to get out of xRecovery and phone was on for 50 minutes. Battery drained from 80% - 15%... Really awfull that you can't turn of screen ...
I don't think heat is a big problem. I use my x10 in my car as the navigation. When the sun hits front window it usually gets more than 50deg C on hot day. So far everything is ok.

Maybe you should disable searching automatically for a network. Because when you travel it searches for other networks and stuff that cause your phone to be hot and drain battery. Using another baseband could also fix it, but I that's not available yet for the Arc I think. So try locking it on one network.

I have read your post. I'm sure is a lot of truth in it. But there is not much you can do about sun heating your phone while using navi in car. I place my device near AC wents but still temperature is high.
Anyway there is 2 years warranty so if the phone will break because of that I'll just replace it.

It's a flaw in the radio or it's software "one SE loves" cuz eventually all our phones will melt.

Not really a flaw in just the X10. While it's true that the radio on the X10 can be very power hungry, the new basebands regulate it better. The issue has to do with the chipset.
ALL first generation snapdragons have the same issue. They ALL emit a ton of heat when cpu and peripheral chips undergo heavy activity. You'll find the same issues in other forums with the Nexus One, HTC HD2 (running Android), HTC Desire, original Droid, etc.
Not really planned obsolescence when it was the best chipset available at the time. Newer chipsets are going to be (and so far have been) better.

Massive battery drain and an eternity to charge

Hi,
This past week, my G2 has had massive problems with the battery draining when I have been doing basic things like web browsing etc.... I can literally watch the battery drop %'s every few minutes... the phone also gets extrmely hot up the top of the phone around near camera, it gets to about 50 degree... and to make things even more worringly it takes all day to charge to full, instead of it charging to full in an hour or so it will barely get to 50% overnight..
Does anyone have any ideas what the hell is going on??? It's running stock EU KK ROM
I'm having the same issue. For me it seems to be triggered when I connect to bluetooth in my car. Once the battery drain is triggered it continues even after I get of the car. I've gotten in the habit of rebooting my phone every time a turn off the car. A major pain but it works until I find a better solution. I've been thinking about wipping the phone but I don't want to go through the hassle if I can avoid it.

First thing I guess would be to try a battery stats app (Gsam for instance) and have that running from a full charge to see if anything is running without your knowledge.
Not even with a separate app, did you guys take a look at the "stock" battery stats?
I had once a big battery drain that was caused by the media server.
If I helped you, please thank me
Ive currently tried every battery stats app i can get my hands on lol..... I've gone through the 50+ battery guide using titanium back up.... I've disabled startup programs.... Geez even Sonic the hedgehog Ep2 was for some reason just always doing something and i never touch it lol.... Anyway I'll keep a close eye on it but i still can't explain the long charge times.... Maybe something will come up
Yeh I checked stock battery stats, the main hog seems to be bluetooth when it's not even switched on :/

I actually *think* I found the very unlikely culprit.... Google Chrome Camera!!!!!! Someone else commented on the exact same problems as me on the Play Store... which sounds about right because I've had the charging probs about as long as I installed the app.... So I've removed it and hopefully thats fixed it

I could see the app maybe causing the drain but I think it highly unlikely it affecting charging. I still like the cable idea for your slow charge. Go find your white one the phone came with and try it =)

Seems to be working fine here.
I have a quickcharger 2.0 and the phone charges at 7.5V/1A like it did on 4.4. Charging time is about the same about an hour and something from empty with QuickCharge 2.0.
I did charge a big with regular USB at 500mA and seemed to be going as normal....
Maybe your phone is still setting in from the initial install and doing lots of background tasks?
I see a lot of my apps closing, not force closing but when I try open them again it's like opening them for the first time again it's weird, maybe memory leak?

I didn't try myself.Saw a post in Xposed forum
Tapped from my furious ZR
I am using my phone mainly for GPS. Normally when i put it to the car charger ( its magnetic car charger ) and even though i use the phone it doesn't reflect on the charging speed. Today i repeated the procedure and i was shocked. For 30 mins of charging time while i was using the GPS it went Up only with 1% which is insane. Normally for the same time is UP at leas 15 to 20%. Its extremely slow now.

Yes. There are memory leak issues in LP. Check if app processes are restarting even if there is plenty of empty RAM.
My battery got kinda worse after updating to LP yesterday.. 23 minutes of screen on time on WIFI and im left with 89%

Will you be kind enough to install Amphere app from Playstore and let is settle for a minute or two and post the current values? The only explanation for slow USB charge is that certain phones are using more current and this would be a great way to identify it. Post the main value displayed as well as the min value and max value if possible.
I am currently using on airplane mode with -220mA. Min is -210mA. Max is -420mA (only appeared as soon as I unplugged and never again).
When i switch off airplane mode I get -250mA. Min is -240mA. Max is -360mA.

+1 sir, I don't really like this fact :/
So Android 5.0.2 on Z3 performs the memory leak?
The one mentioned earlier abut stock Android?
someone could confirm that in other firmware was also removed wifi based on local?
Send from my Xperia Z3

I don't want to cause any unnecessary issues! All I am saying is people hoped for a memory leak issue in 5.0.2. It seems to have reduced significantly but i saw some users still complain on Google Product forums and Google has acknowledged it. Apparently Google has fixed this but hasn't released the fix for OEMs or public yet.
I am not saying we will have the same issue. But if that user complained his phone feels laggy, it could be due to this issue. Because after all, I dont think Sony devs go so far as to solve issues in the AOSP code.
So this is just speculation. Nothing is proven. You need to see if there are blank restarts on app processes even though you have plenty of free RAM. That is a direct hint at memory leaks.
