I was deleting stuff off my sdcard on the new Gingerbread leak and somehow managed to delete all the ringtones off my phone. Can someone upload the stock ones for me please?

First.. I did search, don't want my first post to be slammed for not using the search function. But did not find anything that seemed relevant.
I am trying to store some ringtones in my /data partition, I created a directory called "/data/media/audio/ringtones" and placed an mp3 file in it, restarted phone - nada.
I then removed the /system/media/audio/ringtones directory and made a symbolic link to my /data/media/audio/ringtones directory, the link worked and I thought I would be golden. But alas, the mp3 did not show in my listing of ringtones.
I know I can clear up some space on the /system partition, but then if I do an update I would have to copy all my ringtones back over again. As opposed to just creating a new symlink.
I was wondering if anyone knew a way to accomplish what I was attempting to do.
Also, I guess my reasoning behind this... I have multiple SD cards, and have recently learned that even if the dir structure on them is identical (besides what music/videos I have) when I swap cards my ringtones get stupid. Stupid meaning they get cross-referenced, switched to other ringtones, set to "unknown", etc. So I would like to have them on the internal memory, and the /data partition makes the most sense as it would not be wiped with an update.
Thanks for any info you can provide, I am of course willing to try just about anything.

Maybe the app Rings Extended is something to try?
tried it, only allows access to the system media directory and the sd card, or sound recordings.
The default ringtones are "hardcoded" on the system and the wallpapers as well.
So in order for you to get the phone to read those ringtones you'll need to recompile some files...
I made my own custom update.zip with my ringtone and notification sound (they must be .ogg format)

yeah, so I ended up removing a few stock apks (amazon & email, considering IM, but read somewhere that it could cause issues, so I left it for now) and put my ringtones onto the system partition. I will just have to edit and resign any future updates, till I find another solution. I am going to send an email to the author of Rings Extended to see if they can make it read a directory on the data partition.
Hello, I am trying to copy some files onto the phones memory (.oggs for ringtones) but am unable to do so. Is this because I am just retarded, or is it because root access is needed? please help, its driving me mad!
and the title of the thread should say file transfers, can't edit it though
what is exactly the problem ? file transfers to sdcard doesnt require any root access....
Hi, i have the files on my SD card, want to put them on the phones memory, so that i do not loose all my individual contact ringtones if i change SD card, however i can't do it!
as of now you cant put/replace files on phone memory coz of the root access issues.....
ok thanks, at least i know now!
You'd just have to copy the ring tones from your old card to your new one ( and anything else you might want too).

Hi, ppl. I accidentally wiped my sd card, and now i want to get the factory data back. But unfortunately, those data are not part of the phone's rom.
Can someone list me the multimedia content that comes with the phone?
I know I don't have the multi-alarm alarm sound anymore, and by what I can recall, there was a folder named "media" where those files were.
Can someone check that for me please? Thanks.
The folder name was "alarms" ...media folder I think was empty.
Anyway, phone can work with no card so everything in the card is useless if you dont use it. My alarm never wake me up for a reson so I cant understund the reason to retrive this folder. (did you tried to find your data from sd deleted files?)
try Recuva from piriform.com..its has ability to recover files from card i've not tested it..but it worth a try..goodluck and be careful next time

i using link2sd
After updating my samsung note 3, i cannot delete any files in my sdcard (Example: I delete any files/videos that already saved to my sdcard, after restarting my phone, it will come back all the files that I already deleted .. )
what's happening?? please help!
Thank in advance.
Guys as usual I was talking backup via PC.
I found two folders into my Internal memory named SDCARD0 & SDCARD0.
I thought it must be a duplicate and deleted one of them.
Immediately I found I lost all my data from Internal memory.
Folders like whatsapp, dcim, movies and all other whcih were created by other apps got lost.
So has i actually accidentally deleted them due to sdcard0 folder or they are present but HIDDEN somewhere?
Coz still my internal memory says 3.60gb free which was same size before doing this unusual accident.
My phone hasnt got any root access.
Please how can I get back my files in this case?
My all apps r functioning properly except they lost all their custom settings...
What can be done to get my data back from Internal memory?
What you can do is, NEVER DELETE SUCH FOLDERS AGAIN.
To be aware of this in future, have a backup via foldersync or similar...
The chance that ull get ur data back going against zero...sorry
-EDIT: REQUIRES ROOT-
Oh you can do it. Did it myself a few weeks ago..
Check out this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...de-internal-memory-data-recovery-yes-t1994705
is there no way of running recovery software when plugged into a PC? I know I saved a lot of data from a camera while back by scanning its memory in recova or something similar while hooked up via usb
You should do some research first if you don't know something
