EB13 to EC05 OTA link - Epic 4G General

http://android.clients.google.com/p...0/20428846d0d6.update-SPH-D700_EB13ToEC05.zip

hallelujah!

Wow, only 13.3 MB. Not much difference between the two, huh?

So I rename to update.zip, put in root of sd, do the volume, camera, power combo, apply update? This won't cause any data loss right?
Sent from my always stock, EB13 Epic, awaiting EC05.

I was about to Odin the modem... thanks you saved me some time man.

That's how it's supposed to work, but you MUST be on stock EB13.

The link isn't workng for me. I get a google server error or something like that, and on my phone, my the download fails... related? I think so!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Link/download worked for me. Although i forgot to move it to root, so the install failed. Battery is now low and don't want to risk the install until it is charged.
Will update when i get it charged and installed.
Update 1:
Looks like just having the update.zip on the root of the SD card will prompt the update process (No 3 button required).
Update 2:
Update worked perfectly.

Where is the root on the sd card? i put it on my sd card, start it up, use the volume to toggle to the update.zip, hit the home softkey but then i get an install error...any help?

Ok, here's my problem. Have EB13, one click root, made sure Asphalt demo is installed and apk is in correct spot, reboot, apply update and get the following:
Installing: SDCARD: update.zip
finding update package...
Opeining update package...
Installing update...
E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 0)
Installation aborted.

Ok, I did that and then I received an error file not found, added the zip to again, and get the same error as the previous time.

Could the ClockworkMod be the issue? Still receiveing E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip

Are you clicking the "Apply Update from SD card" option? Or are you trying to flash it like a regular ROM?
Sent from my Epic 4G

I do the 3 button method, and "Apply Update from SD card"

I get the exact same result as offtohavasu, so its not just him. Downloaded directly to root of SD, renamed to just 'update' (because the .zip is in there by default).
Edit: in case it matters, I'm rooted with CWM 2.5.1.0 (one-click method), EB13 stock though, no custom ROM.

Here's an interesting theory. Who did EB13 update OTA, update.zip, or .exe file. I used .exe

I just installed the OTA. Avoiding the iD icon like the plague, wish Launcher7 had an option to hide apps from drawer.

Where's My 2.2!!! jk Rooting problem !!!

Hi all you angry forum sharks
Here is my problem. ( well my girlfriends problem ) .
I have had my SF rooted since I got the thing and everything went smoothly and I'm currently running Jt's Rom (which is perfect thanks).
So my girlfriend Decided she can't stand bing anymore ( like most people) so she wants it rooted. I said ok and decided to do it through an app "z4root". It worked and gave me super user permission and I thought all is well.
I got Rom manager on there and flashed the recovery , and tried doing a backup. It went into clockwork spent like 2 seconds there and rebooted. I tried it again same thing. Then I said F this and tried to just install a Rom. It did the same thing one more time and failed.
So I went back to the app thinking It didn't root correctly and click "unroot". It work and there was no more super user. (I know I still have the CWM recovery). I decided to try "1 click root" which I had done on my phone and worked great. It found the phone but when I try running it I end up with no root and I get "permission denied" from the 1 click root dialog box.
Thinking this had something to do with the CWM I used Odin to restore System tar, kernal, Recovery, and the Pit. The phone is back to 100% stock works great but I STILL CANNOT ROOT the damn thing!!! I still get the permission denied on Su, busybox, superuser.apk.
Anything I can do to force root? lol
Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance
update...
Odin restored again. Used PIT button and file while I used PDA to flash system, kernal, recovery.
1 click root still denied su, busybox. etc.
used z4root app, worked. I now have super user permission. Downloaded Rom manager. Tried flashing alternate recovery ( it says it was already flashed? It never loaded in the status bar.
tried to boot into recovery. It starts opening the file package and then I get
--Install from package...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package....
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification Failed
Installation aborted
Sigh....
FIXED !!!
I did this to force clockwork http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788099

[SOLVED] Can't update

So I'm trying to install the Gingerbread update on my old rooted Evo, which is now my dads.
And every time it gives me:
E:Failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation Aborted.
I have toggled the signature verification already, still didn't work.
I even tried going to amon ra, and still no.
Running CMR 3.0.0.5
Are you rooted still or not? Lol
No need to unroot! Maybe a bad download? Try downloading again. You will need to update his radio/wimax to flash the GB roms.
Update the radios first. Rename the zip to PC36IMG.zip and flash from hboot. Place on root of sdcard and power off phone. Hold power and volume down to get into bootloader and follow directions on screen. After you update the radios flash rom normally in recovery.

If you are trying to install the OTA GB update, then you need to replace CWM recovery with the stock recovery first.

[Q] Update to 4.1.2 fails - error 7, patch check - need new PlusOne.apk?

I've been spending a few hours trying to fix this - when upgrading from 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 either OTA or via sideloading through ADB I get an error saying "assert(apply_patch_check("/system/app/PlusOne.apk" has failed and I am unable to complete upgrade.
I tried downloading 4 different plusone.apk's and none have rectified this problem. I also tried removing the check for plusone.apk from the updater script and re-zipping the files to no avail.
Can anyone help? Either with a correct PlusOne.apk I can put in system/app or by explaining what I can do to update without resettingback to factory first?
I am on 4.1.1, JRO03D. I converted PlusOne into a user app after I got the nexus using TB and have since converted it back to a system app and placed various PlusOne.apk's in the system/app folder.
I APPRECIATE ANY HELP!!!

not sure if I will be a big help, but try to download the 4.1.2 OTA upgrade, and put in N7, then hoping you have CWM if not, just install Clockwork recovery if you have not done so, then boot in clockwork recovery, once you are clockwork recovery, make sure "signature check" is disabled, and install from zip option, point where you put 4.1.2 OTA upgrade file, and then reboot.
I am thinking that error you get most likely signature check since you converted to user app and then converted back to system app.
If you have removed any system apps the upgrade will fail.

I am trying to do it through CWM now... if I try the second option, downloading and flashing from the file will I lose all my data and apps, correct? I am trying to avoid having to restore everything.
Thank you both for your help!

This worked!!! I downloaded the version with the code removed to check files that had been failing me on google +. Thank you very much!
I had the same issue and just like zdeno888 got it solved by the right package... on the url above INSIDE one of the messages there's a modified version without verification scripting.
THIS IS NOT THE VERSION POSTED ON THE FIRST POST!
i am running stock but rooted and unlocked. when i did the unlock or root it installed a basic version on cwm, i think a custom one someone had created for the nexus 7.
i cannot get this sorted. first i managed to get the ota by clearing the google framework data a few times until it offered but it the failed to install saying something about 'failed to verify whole-file signature'
due to this i downloaded the zip i found on, i think, androidpolice and booted to recovery. that failure said something like 'assert failed:apply-patch-check gmail.apk'
i then found on this thread -

great, that sorted it so thanks very much.
i presume you have done the update, apart from the rotation are you finding much difference?
Little to none
Most changes in this one were under the hood, as they say.

Bad download, check md5, make sure u are selecting right zip
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
If you look through the thread, there is a download link for the update, that's how I did it
The most probable reason you're having the issue if the MD5 checks out is that the OTA updater doesn't seem to work properly with it (I think that if you were using 4EXT recovery you would be okay.) However, that doesn't mean you can't install the OTA; you just have to find it and install it manually.
This post has the directions that, as I recall, worked for me (I'm not on Venom at the moment):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35645890&postcount=157
Get the update out of /cache, put it on /sdcard, boot to recovery, turn off signature verification in CWM recovery's advanced menu, then try flashing.

If you are on cwr the updater won't work. You either have to get ext4 recovery or go to the link below and download the update. Then you will be able to flash the update through cwr.
