I just got the update on my phone, as others are also reporting as well on another thread. Anyone want to help us pull off our phones?

I just need a location (I think). I looked in the root directory, /sdcard, and /cache and can't find anything. I am wondering if because this is small (~13 meg), if it isn't in the update.zip format???
I did a search on my PC with the phone connected for any file with a size over 10MB to see if I could find a strangely named 13.3MB file... but no luck there either. Do you have a file in your root directory named DiskCacheIndex25466.tmp or something like that? I never noticed it before, but it says it's 0 bytes...

Quick question cos I'm lazy! Is the file in windows directory?
Mike
I thought even a lazy should know that '\' at the beginning of a file name means "from the root directory"!

Calm down dear I did see the old reverse solidus lurking there but thought I'd check because that file is not in my root directory. Perhaps you've caught something nasty?
Mike
I've found out this file is related to Paragon PenReader.
Does anyone know what this file is? It's found in the /data/local folder. Mine is 1.15GB and I want to know if its safe to delete.
Also if someone could see if they also have this file and if it's a similar size.

Its safe to delete providing you reboot right afterwards. Its size is zero, I'm guessing the 1.15 gig you see Is from trying to pull the file via adb?.

Yes, I had to reboot otherwise the device remained in a totally unstable state (lots of Force-Close because of missing free space on /data)
Using Root Explorer, /data/local/tsprsp was actually a very large file, not zero-sized.
Is this related to /system/bin/immvibed ??
This binary hogged my CPU usage for a while.
EDIT: this seems to be the haptic feedback (vibration) daemon.
I Odin'd back to DI18 and got the EC05 update (downloaded successfully)... but I didn't reboot to install it. I want to actually pull that update file off the phone but I can't locate it. Is it not on the SD card? Can someone help me find the file? Thanks much

It's in the /cache directory in main memory. I was able to copy it using ES File explorer. Be aware that it contains binary difference files that can only be used to upgrade from DI18. It doesn't contain the full ROM.

It's been posted many times and is the source of the updates linked all over this forum. No need to post it unless you have the EB13 to EC05 update.

I saw that one... .but I read another forum message "Direct from Sprint" that this one is not official and to not install it period.... Not sure why they are saying this... maybe there is something wrong with that update file.

I am looking in the main cache file using ES File Explorer...but that EC05 system update is not there... the directory is empty. Any idea where the downloaded update is located?

All of a sudden, I can't copy files to Nexus 7. Windows 7 64 says device has either stopped responding or is disconnected....which tells me nothing. I see others have posted this topic for this tablet but there are no replies. Tablet is rooted, running LiquidSmooth Beta 2 and seems fine. Same USB cable and I can see internal folder and files from Windows, but cannot perform normal file transfers. Where do I start looking for issue?

MTP or whatever its called sucks. But that usually either means that your device doesn't support that file format, the files are too big, or you actually disconnected your device. Try a different USB port, and give us a bit more info on what you are trying to copy.

Trying to copy a 7MB zip file. I looked at settings -- MTP is checked and there's 12.79GB available out of 13.24GB. Weirdly, I thought I'd try a file that was completely different, so I just copied a text file (2K) and it went fine. Now what's that about?
I usually use WinRAR to create zip files, but some on xda recommend 7-zip (changing file extension to zip) for stuff like boot animation files. Is that the problem??
I had the same thing happen... I tried an 11mb zip file, no luck. Text file or image worked fine... I'm guessing I'll just have to use something like AirDroid to transfer any file. This is disappointing that Google has done this. My older Android phones, I could copy any file I please.

Well, one thing I finally discovered is that zip renamed from 7z may be an issue...the system probably checks the file header (I assume) against extension to see if there's a match. Possibly to catch exe files with zip extensions that may be viruses.
solution
Just put the files you want to copy inside a folder, then copy the folder. works for me on Nexus 4

Just had the same problem. This worked! So the problem looks to be that the device can't handle certain files by themselves.

working exactly perfect!! Thanks my friend..
What is /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads?
My /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache directory is 3.4GB, which is a major chunk of my internal storage, which is down to around ~768MB. Can I safely delete the contents of /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache?
I have so little internal storage that I can't complete app updates without going in and manually cleaning up cruft. And yes, I've moved apps to external storage and am saving photos and movies on it as well.
My thanks to those who take the time to help me with this.
C'mon folks. 74 views and no one has any advice?
Please, help me with this.

Thank you for the reply!
On my phone I can't see this directory with my filesystem GUI of choice, X-Plore File Manager, but it's accessible from a terminal. which is how I discovered it was filled with over 3GB of cruft. I'm about ready to just clean the cache dir in that path and see what happens. :silly:

So, tired of waiting for input (except for you, robmeik. Thanks!) I decided to just clear the /data/data/com.android.providers.downloads/cache directory an pray it is just what it appears to be, a temp directory. Turns out, yes, that is all it is. I deleted the files and have suffered no deleterious effects.
Hi, Fat Rat Bastard. So sorry no one replied to you because I have the same issue. What happened when you deleted those large files? Did you android device even notice them missing?

You need a rooted phone and a root capable file manager to access that folder, android 101
