What is the best kernel to use with the cm7 nightlies? I am just using the kernel that comes with it. Also should I wipe battery stats at all?

I use incredikernel. It runs great with cm7 and has fast charging. Its a good idea to wipe your battery stats and wipe your dalvik when you flash kernels. I'm running the #31 nightly btw.
Thanks for that. I will install kernel now

If you read Faux's GB kernel thread under the development section it will explain what the kernel does and why it's important and what he's changed and how to install it. It's actually extremely helpful, that's how I learned about them.

I searched in the "bible" for some kernels and they all seem incompatible to the Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 release. Anyone know of a kernel that will work with this release... First time Mytouch4g user. I came from the Vibrant world. This phone seems a little more dead than over there.

Its for all GB AOSP ROMS as far as I know. That includes CM7 and Variants as well as MIUI.

Sounds good! Would you say this is better over the kernel that comes with cm7.1.0?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
Yes. Its an improved version with a wider range of frequencies and more governors.

Boot into recovery, wipe Cache, flash kernel.

Does it hurt to wipe dalvik and cache for kernel flashing?

OK so I have been trying out cm7.1&2 but noticed that I don't have that steady of signal or my data will go out while on a call. After trying cm7.0.3 it seems to be more stable and based off 2.3.3(7.1&2 is 2.3.7 dunno if that makes a difference) but is missing some settings that I like from 7.2.
So my question is what do I need to do to have the tweaks from the 7.2 in the 7.0.3
Thanks for the help in advance

Come on somebody has to know.
Either I gotta put the tweaks in cm7.0.3 or I gotta put the 2.3.3 base in cm7.2.
Just don't know which will fix the stability. All I know is the boot.img is the kernel

You're probably in over your head. This isn't some copy/paste business. You would need to compile 7.0.3 with the proper commits from 7.2. Also, the boot.img is the kernel+ramdisk.
I would be willing to try could I just follow the guide on the cyanogenmod website.

You need to provide more info than that. What build are you running? Custom kernel? Overclocking? Latest nightly? You know the drill.

Im runing the last nightly build. I dont overclock or make things like that. Just installed cm10.1 nightly. I used rom manager and clockwork recovery
