tmobile and samsung getting sued over froyo

check it out theyre delaying froyo for the vibrant owners on tmo, and now there is a class action suit on it...lol i hope it makes it to court so then every single manufacturer gets their **** straight before promising upgrades

I would love to see this lawsuit go somewhere, but the only one that will benefit is lawyers. Phone makers just wont announce any updates until they are ready to be released fearful of lawsuits.

Yeah I don't really see this taking off. For one it is inaccurate. It states that the other branded Galaxy S phones have been upgraded to Froyo. Last time I checked none of them have Froyo yet.

The i9000 does. And the canadians.
Its just the US.
And I think samsung purposely told tmo to not release the update because it would impeed sales of the vibrant 4g, which would definitely be against the law since all galaxy s phones were launched with the specific statement of "will be upgraded to android 2.2"

I still don't see how its against the law. Frowned on yes but illegal? as long as they come out with 2.2 its not false advertisement.

False. He didn't even put the paperwork in. He lied from the beginning, and from the looks of things he was marketing himself, and now is selling is rap music. So looks like he pulled a fast one on people. Great way for him to get his name out there.

Verizon Statement on Froyo

Anyone else thinking its not going to happen?
They just started the iPhone hype so I'm pretty sure nearly all of their resources are going toward that.
AT&T will probably have an official statement first...

You honestly think that the iPhone release will take out all of their resources that they can't make a statement about the release or status of the update? Pondering things like these leads nowhere, that has become more than evident with all of these froyo threads. They are full of speculation and made up conspiracies because people are so absorbed by the thought of companies withholding froyo from them. Enjoy your phone, rom it and change things to your liking...when we get froyo, we get froyo. I really dont understand why people need to make endless threads about this.

I dont really post much, but I must get this out, WTF is up with BOTH samsung and verizon.
Verizon isn't just the one accountable for it, Samsung is as well,they are slow on updates.
LG just released the 2.2 froyo update for possibly the worst phone ever made the LG Ally.
The other thing I'm not getting is why the development is slow for the fascinate, are people just not that interested in the phone as other phone's ? No disrespect for the developers. I'm just stating that other phones have had 2.2 for a LONG time and the fascinate is just barely getting into 2.2 development.
Dont tell me its because GSM and CDMA are different. Honestly I have ported GSM to CDMA android phones just fine, yes it takes some time. Right now im currently looking into how the samsung is all set up so I can take a shot at some things..

I believe your talking about porting a rom from a GSM phone to a cdma phone.... what's up with the fascinate is way more then that.....

most threads say that the update will be released about the 20th of June. I was really surprised that the evo 4g had the Gb release before the Evo 3d came out. I think that the reason the Evo 4g is not getting sense update to atleast 2.x is that sprint wants them to get the newer shift (sense 2.x) or the newer evo 3d with 3.x sense. I wish our GB had TW 4 in it. I have used the leaked TW 4 and like it but wish the widgets for feeds work as i cant find any other replacement feeds that are somewhat like it. The ones for fb and tweeter are too small.... any ideas...

Sprint has told me many things... And I believe that the person telling me believed they were being truthful. Just in the past 2 weeks:
* The Airave does not use the internet for voice calls. It connects to towers in your area. The internet connection and GPS are for location purposes only.
* We will credit you $25 for next month and the month after if you upgrade your phones this weekend. I will call you 4:30p on Tuesday to confirm. No call.
* I do see in your notes that we agreed to credit you $50 if you upgraded two phones but only one time. There is no way we can credit you another $50. (we go back and forth). Ok, I'll give you a credit now and another credit for next month. Do you want an email confirmation? Hell Yes! No email received
The Sprint guy probably doesn't know the difference between the Evo and the Epic. They both start with "e" afterall...

Okay, I just got off the phone with Verizon Customer Service and they told me that they started pushing out Gingerbread 2.3 for the Fascinate to select areas about two weeks ago. Was that the leak we got? I asked her if she wasn't sure it wasn't Froyo that was the update and she said no, that Froyo was about a month or so ago.
What's going on?

Is there a verizon release on this?

Not positive but I believe there is a missed call patch that is due to be released. But maybe it's GB since there was a leak.

I don't think so. If this was true, there must've been some kind of recognition among us. I follow at least 4 different major android websites/blogs and I haven't heard of this. If this was true, Verizon would've posted the update on their tech website, just like they did it with every single updates in the past. I don't see why this update would be an exception if it ever happened.

I thought everyone knew by now that customer service reps don't know anything?
