Yea it isn't working. Im on midnight 5 standard. I get an msmachdep_init error no matter how many times I try. Also os anyone having trouble with the xda app? It wont open and force closes constantly and I have to reinstall for it to work again. Then it'll happen again. Stupid xda app :O

I had to do another full wipe with a manual reinstall of all programs after my update. It was the only way for me to get everything working.
The xda app, go under settings>applications ad clear the application cache, then re-log in. I have to do that whenever it FCs on me.

I never understood why to type system/bin part? Mine works just fine by typing sensorcalibutil_yamaha, nothing else required.

Mine works fine too with just the sensorcalibutil_yamaha.
You don't need to reboot either. Just exit the terminal and turn the screen off and on.

Now that I didn't know. I'll remember that the next time I need to re-calibrate.

The rotation is from the launcher used in it, I switched adw and problem fixed.
I had to reinstall the rom a second time in order to get the fc's. Since I did it a second time everything works better and much smoother.

Is this just me? Every time i reply to a post, I get a force close. This has happened on almost every firmware I've tried.
Just me?
Same here, it crashes everytime, do not know, but I think this is not a firmware thing, but a xda app thing....
are you guys on Froyo or 2.1 ?
i'm using it just fine, no errors, i use it very often to check my PMs and post back on the go
I had the same a few days ago.however somehow the problem got solved and now I don't get these FC's anymore when posting a message...

Oh to top it off my phone decided it had enough and went to sleep again.

mine was upgraded from the older verison
Posted here earlier that my problems were gone, but I just had another FC after posting elsewhere...
Also, when trying to edit a previous message I seem unable to type anything; the keyboard appears on my screen, but touching it gives a feedback that is the same as touching in a textbox (I can move cursor and select text etc.instead of typing with the virtual keyboard that is displayed).

Edit: hmmm this time no FC and fully able to edit message....weird...
Mine just crashed using quotes. Seems to work fine otherwise.

Everyone whose auto rotate busted after flashing to/from FroYo please comment here. Tell us the steps you've tried and if you've gotten it working again.
I flashed to Syndicate 1.0.2 from DJ29 FroYo and noticed my auto rotate no longer worked. I nandroided back to stock DI18, still doesn't work. I odin'd to DI18, still doesn't work.
Anyone else?

Use a terminal emulator app and type the following(hit enter after each line)
Su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha

In FroYo. Can't do that in Eclair.
I read a fix for my slow auto rotation using terminal yesterday here, did it and it worked for me. I told a friend about it and now I can't find it...would someone repost it for me?
Terminal
Su
/system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha
That is the one ...Thank you!

im having the same problem with auto rotate and i tried the fix above and it says:
starting calibration utilities...
msmachdep_init failed
calibration utilities failed.
Type Su then enter. Then type /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha. Works everytime.

Doesn't your phone have to be laying flat on the table.
Would you reccomend that I do this on a rom?

Won't make a difference.
If you run the calibrate and its still slow; do it a few more times with the phone turn in different directions I.e 270 degress and 90.

Ok I love my epic but ever since I updated to 2.2 the orientation had been extremely slow my phone is stock and I've tried a factory and reformatting my sd. I took it to sprint and they told me it was the software, but when I looked at the demos in the store there was no orientation delay. Any suggestions?

look thru the forums for the 'lagfix', its the adb command yamahasensorcalibutil or something like that.. its just calibrating your sensors... works great on a good install of most eb13 or ec05 install...
Use terminal emulator, if you don't have it yet get it from the market. Open it and type /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha place the phone on a flat surface, and hit Enter. Reboot the phone and sensors will function at normal speed.
You ca use adb also. Good luck

Doh! +1 on rooting assumption...
For the short periods of time I have been on total stock builds, when I first loaded EC05, it had the least lag out of any.... try to reflash? Consider taking the plunge to root? We have the neglected bastard child of sprintsung... what they dont do or dont do right we have to do ourselves...
Callibrate it using the option in display settings while putting it flat on the underside of a table.
Trust me, it works.
See here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKECs764ayE
So it sounds like the only way to do this is to root my phone
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
You can either root it and fix it, or take it to Sprint, have them ODIN it which won't fix it and have them order a replacement which takes 3 days.

That doesn't fix the sensor lag, in fact for many people that has made it worse.
Feel free to read the original sensor lag fix thread if you don't believe me.

I've only experienced this at random if I restore app data. Not sayings its the cause but it was the common thread for me.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Alanrocks: after you restore you apps and data (make sure your "acceptable" system data isn't being restored from a Samsung rom, like wifi/bookmarks/etc), boot into recovery mode, wipe dalvik and cache partition, and then try doing a fix permissions.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
also if the backup part of google doesnt finish all the way in the very begining process of starting cm7 then any and all apps will fc. U know the part where u touch the droid and sign into google and etc.etc...if it doesnt finish signing into google server then it will do that, i found this out the hard way as i couldnt figure my fc's out and that was my prob. I thought it had finished, lol
good luck with ur prob.
My idea is to odin back to stock and reflash cm7! wipe data wipe dalvik etc
Okay thanks just restored and unchecked the Google backup will reboot into recovery to wipe dalvik and fix perm.

Alanrocks: make sure you aren't restoring voodoo control data either.
Lol you guys.
The problem you are experienced is caused by the /datadata folder being full. Apps are trying to save/change settings as you run them but since it's full, they can't write to it and force close. To fix this problem, go in the folder and find out what app or a few apps are taking the most space and delete them. Your problem will be solved.

the vibrant's original partition scheme essentially change /datadata to /dbdata. but we're not using that. and that has nothing to do with storage.

I think I have to delete some apps.
I just deleted the /datadata folder and rebooted. Cleared dalvik and fixed permissions . Went back to the /datadata folder and there was only 6 mb free of 178
And you're wring because if I delete a folder of an installed app.
I reboot the phone and the folder automatically comes back.
Yes you get more memory when you delete but as soon as you reboot everything comes back.
I've been having this happen to me so often and it has been driving me nuts. Is there anyway to increases the space in /datadata? I have 5 gbs free, so I hate that it says it's almost out of room.
