Hi all,
I've an HTC Wildfire with a SD card of 32 GB (class 5 or 6) and I'm trying to find a rom that can satisfy all my needs. I've tried the most common rom for wildfire, but I haven't find yet the rom fit for me
Here a list of my needs:
- Good interactive gallery.
- Good camera app.
- Thethering from wifi.
- Install the apps on the sd card.
Here is what I've recently tested:
CyanogenMod-7 Nightly Builds for vendor Buzz (only release #9):
- Thethering with wifi works fine
- Bad gallery: slow and does not work as expected.
- Bad camera app: pictures quality is less than the HTC camera app.
- No apps on sd: using app2sd, at rebot the applications in sd just disappeared.
I tried darktremor patch and Link2SD app but does not work at all.
CyanogenMod-7 Nightly Builds for vendor Buzz (greater than #9)
Tried some other release and all of them get stuck.
CyanogenMod-7 for HTC Wildfire (Buzz) :: V7.0.0-RC2
Does not work. Really slow and really often get stuck.
DK Custom Froyo V4.3.6 (Froyo 2.2.1) Stable & Smooth
-Nice camera
-Nice gallery
Unfortunately some time get stuck.
WildPuzzleROM_2.2.1 v0.8, New Base, Transparent Lockscreen, LWP in SENSE
Using HDCR jacob kernel.
(the currently I'm using)
-Nice camera
-Nice gallery
-Thethering does not works (all other devices cannot connect), I've tried also with other application.
-Link2SD does not work, darktremor as always give me the same error that cannot copy the dalvik cache.
Please can anyone suggest me a rom that works fine and has all this 4 features.
Thank you really much.
Apps2SD definitely works on WildPuzzle, because, I was using it, and, it worked very well. Probably, you are doing something wrong. There are some guides around here which state how to install it, just search for it. Here's one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12398752&postcount=22
Wi Fi tethering will work if you use the kernel 0055 from the OLD Wildpuzzle thread. Again, Just search for it.
- Quickpic
- Miui Camera (i posted a thread in the app section), Vignette, Camera 360 Pro
- tethering works on cm7 and on wildpuzzle
- darktremor app2sd works on cm7 consistently for me. Which means, you don't know what you're doing, you're just doing it wrong. (have you even tried flashing jacob's 4.1 kernel..?)
I suggest you just stay with a sense rom since aosp gives you so much trouble rolleyes, i'd recommend wildpuzzle or sunaabh.
easiest way to install dtapp2sd
1. flash it
2. boot into recovery and mount system
3. on terminal, cd into your sdk tools folder
4. type adb shell
5. type /system/bin/a2sd reinstall, then it will reboot. then go back to recovery and do /system/bin/a2sd cachesd
or
1. flash it
2. boot into phone
3. open terminal emulator
type 'su', then type a2sd cachesd

apps2sd works fine on cm7. you're doing something wrong. Get nightly #30, its very stable. for the gallery, use quickpic from the market. camera quality is equal to sense roms, only the interface is ugly. you can try the miui camera in the themes and apps section.

I also agreed with nhnt11. If u want a look-a-like like sense, u can use nhnt11's NTSense.

does this system function also with the sunabah?
I've installed the rom sunabah, boot into phone, turn off the phone, flash the dtapp2sd but then the phone does not make the boot (I've seen for about 30 minutes the HTC logo...)
remove the battery, boot into recovery mode and flash another rom (DK)... and it is ok.
Do you know why and the solution?

I tried several ways to merge libgps.so into darkstone's V5 desire system.ext2 with no luck. After putting libgps.so into /system/lib and rebooting, the boot process stops at clk_set_rate() after the penguin logo shows up.
Can we use libgps.so with any Eclair builds? or it can only be used with froyo builds?
Note: The reason why I tried to do this was because, in my experience, Eclair builds were far more smoother, stable, and less memory hogging than all froyo builds. The difference is even more perceivable after installing 10~20 APKs.
Any advice/suggestion is highly appreciated!
Same problem here!!!
After typing "su" in terminal I get # but it doesn't ask me for superuser permission.
If I proceed with following command:
# mount -o remount,rw /system
# rm /system/lib/libgps.so
# cp /sdcard/libgps.so /system/lib
after restart system won't boot.
NOTE: Using desire_v5
tried it as well.... no luck also... hence i moved to froyo build. try cyanogen build.
... or try Matt's build. It has HTC Sense (which I prefer), and there really isn't anything NOT working for me. Maybe something isn't working but I haven't found it yet.
GPS, Bluetooth audio, camera, call audio, GUI speed, USB transfer (using automount), WiFi... it all works.

yup that's froyo build you're using. the problem is with eclair builds
i used matt's then switched to cyanogen. works without a hitch. smooth and everything works. camera and camcorder with flash, hspa/3g, etc.
Thanks to bangsters, after switching to cynanogen, I can't believe my eyes! it's just amazing! The completeness of this port is close to official release. No more lag problem exists when opening pocketnow.com. This is simply marevelous! Highly recommended for anyone who didn't give it a try.
yup so smooth... i haven't been using winmo for like 2+ weeks lol...
I just flashed the Miri rom and the in-call sound works, but unlike Dan's Froyo build, the GPS doesn't work. I replaced it with the new libgps.so file and it wouldn't even boot. The build is solid, but I just need GPS to work. Can I get a link to the Cyanogen HD2 build, and does it have Sense?
I just followed the instruction on this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739755&page=11
There's no built-in Sense UI, but it's rooted.
Please note that cyanogen is gonna create an userdata.img around 500MB on your SD Card, so make sure you have enough space.
BTW, the battery life seems to be improved compared to the froyo builds, despite the fact that cyanogen is based on froyo.
Matt's build is Froyo with Sense? I want the sense UI but I want the call quality to work as well. Darkstones Claire build has good call audio and no SOD. Plus it has the HTC keyboard. Wish I could take bits and pieces of each build and make a stable one!

I've been wanting to mess about a bit with those roms, and I've installed aZuZu's kitchen and loaded up the system.img from the 2.2.1 CM Floyo v0.10. As I can't live w/o headphones I will look into that as a test. I know I might be totally off track here, but I want to try
I want to include the SystemConnector.apk as that seems to be responsible for 3.5mm jack. When I introduce it into the 2.2.1 system I get error: "has no signatures that match those in shared user android.uid.system; ignoring!" Does this mean I have to re-sign it? and with what key?
I've tried signing the app on the phone using zipsigner, and I've used all types of keys. I still end up with the same error..
Now on the latest 2.2.1 that racht have done and my errors are:
Code:
D/PackageManager( 1743): Scanning package com.sonyericsson.systemconnector
D/PackageManager( 1743): Shared UserID android.uid.system (uid=1000): packages=[PackageSetting{462e19c8 com.android.settings/1000}, PackageSetting{462e31b8 com.google.android.backup/1000}, PackageSetting{462dfd80 com.google.android.location/1000}, PackageSetting{462e2fb8 com.android.server.vpn/1000}, PackageSetting{462e27b8 com.android.providers.settings/1000}, PackageSetting{462e0610 com.cyanogenmod.cmparts/1000}, PackageSetting{462e2358 com.android.providers.subscribedfeeds/1000}, PackageSetting{462e1808 android/1000}]

AFAIK it's using the system uid to gain some specific rights, so I'm not sure if I should change that. I'll try to copy it to /system/app and set rights and chown it to 1k:1k and see what happens
2.2.1 CyanogenMod Floyo v0.11
Hi! Maybe that the mistake is at me, but for me this it mondta( 2.2.1 CyanogenMod Floyo v0.11), that the memory the safe removal of a card, restarted then :S. All this kb 15perc after a usage. One 16GB-Class digs 4 microSD-t I am useful, FAT32 and EXT2 partitions.
I had the same, but 0.12 is stable for me.
What I did:
- I use MyBackup Root to keep a backup of my mms/sms/call log and a few select apps. I also keep a copy of that on my sdcard. I use the stock sdcard...
I started up xRecovery
- Cleared the cache partition
- Mounted my sdcard so I could format my 348mb Ext3 partition from windows using Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edition.
- Installed 0.12 from restore function.
Rebooted and rewarded myself with a coffee
Installes/changes:
- Installed ADW.launcher (opensource version)
- Removed other launcher
- Installed the earphones changer (see main thread for info - SUPARFANTASTIC!)
- Installed Super Manager (it's got it's own version of BusyBox so it won't fail like Root Explorer)
- Removed unwanted apps that racht left behind
Going for a few hrs now and been stable. Don't know about battery usage yet but I can live with that. It's stable and I think racht will continue on his epic quest and I'll follow him as good as I can
hi..
anyone has try 2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12?
when i use this rom, 3G/GPRS is not functioning...
in the detail that rom can use 3G/GPRS but why i can't?
anyone can tell me why?
sorry my english is bad...
Seems to me like you'll have to install a bunch of updates to get a working one. So far I think it's luck when I get something working and when it's not. Currently trying out the X10 one that's ported to X8, but market is failing. Maybe it can work if I apply it on top of something else.. Reverting to racht's 2.2.1
If you've not done so install the SDK and then you can do "adb logcat" to see log output on your pc if it's connected to phone. You might want to redirect output to a file with command like:
adb logcat >output.txt
And then you can browse through it later
My tip: install 0.11 and then upgrade to 0.12 like 1st post sais.
I returned to 0.12 and copied the SystemConnector.apk from the mini and put it on my sdcard and installed it Works like a charm.
My 0.12 status
not working:
- Video encode
- Crypto - so app2sd-aware apps won't install - like angrybirds.
By umounting sdcard angrybirds and other apps will install
- FM radio
-Mount sdcard to PC - no issue for me for now
working:
- all that post sais should be working
- headphones (the stock ones) by installing the app from the mini release.
What I did:
Cleaned out everything but my fat partition on the sdcard.
Format /data
Format /system
Format /cache
Format ext3 partition
Install 0.12 from backup
Install SystemConnector
Install ADW.Launcher (opensource version)
Install AppManager (as UninstallForRoot won't install for me - crypto related)
Remove unwanted system apps
Press Power only to giggle at the awesome "oldskool tv-off animation" and then turn screen back on.
Show off phone to GF who sais she'll keep her stock install while I reboot all day

Hello,
I tried both floyo and gingerbread and they are great (thanks Racht!) but some apps are missing: The Radio and countdown. I think that these are really useful apps, so please put them in floyo, better in gingerbread.
Another thing, instead of the simple calculator is it posible to usa a calculator at least wit the percentage?

Hi,
I have installed 2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12. It's work great but I but two minor issues :
I can't upgrade launcher pro
I can't start root explorer and that crash my SD card
Does anyone have a solution ?
2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12 doesn't boot
I have a rooted android 1.6 phone (Xperia X8). I made a backup from my android 1.6 and installed "2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12" with xrecovery, but when I reboot, he shows only the text "HACKDROID" and does nothing else. To shutdown the phone I am forced to take off the battery, because anything else doesn't work. I restored my android 1.6 backup and everything works like before.
How can I use "2.2.1 CM HACKDROID v0.12" with my phone ? Should I first upgrade to android 2.1 ?

I think that you must have latest update installed. But maybe I am wrong.
Hey Guys,
Being a PC overclocker I felt like a fish out of water when it comes to overclocking a phone
I recently got a HTC Wildfire and found out how to root it and flashed my own ROM, Kenral etc. (with some difficulties)
So I downloaded SetCPU and started OC'ing. Being a PC overclocker I followed the logic of set speed and run stability test.
So I slowly started upping the max speed and then stress testing for 20 min odd. I just kept on upping the speed until I got to the limit of SetCPU (768Mhz). Where to from now?
I have not changed the minimum speed because I have read that it can make your phone rather unresponsive.
Is it possible to go above 768Mhz or will I damage the phone or have to up voltage?
I ran linpak and at 768Mhz I got just under 3 MFLOPS. Is that good or bad or what?
Thanks in advance guys
Mikrouwel
768 is the safe limit, you'll need to make a kernal that will allow the processor to go further, 3mflops is good on a sense ROM but on an AOSP ROM you will get over 5 easily. Why do you want to go over 768 anyway?
What is the difference between sense and AOSP ROM? If it is just the sense feture then I dont mind changing ROMS. (Dont use sensce)
Also what is Cyanogenmod 7 RC1? Is it the same os CM7? Seem alot of people talking but dont now what it is?
Thanks
Mikrouwel
AOSP -> Android Open Source Project. It is vanilla Android, without Sense. So Yes, your assessment is correct. It is just the Sense feature.
Cyanogenmod 7 = CM7. Just a short way of writing it.
Hi There
Is Cyanogenmod 7 a ROM?
Also is Android Open Source Project ROM too or a app?
Sorry kinda confussed
Also what is Clockworkmod Recovery? Does it have something to do with ROM Manager?
Thanks
Mikrouwel
1: Yes, CM7 is a ROM
2: AOSP Official Page: http://source.android.com/
3: Recovery Images are found whenever you boot into Recovery. Example: All that you see like Clear Cache, Install ZIP from SDC etc. are part of a recovery. ROM Manager is a standalone app and is not related to Recovery, although, it can help update the recovery since the developer of Clockworkmod Recovery and ROM Manager are the same.
Technical Definition of Recovery: (Sourced from Turkeys Ultimate Guide Glossary)
The recovery partition is a boot-mode for your phone that allows you to wipe your settings from the #data partition of the phone (a hard wipe), or perform an update using an update.zip file on the root of the microSD card. It is common (although not necessary) to flash a patched Recovery image, such as Amon RA's one. This allows you to run Nandroid backup from the device, and flash modifications, such as update.zip files to the device, essentially becoming a means to install sotware to the device. Recovery mode is separate from 'normal' mode, and can be entered by holding down home whilst turning the phone on.
Oh, you should probably go through Turkeys guide and glossary yourself. It should help a lot.Thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396
Glossary : http://bit.ly/9HtICk
Many thanks Guys,
ATM I am using this ROM with this kernal. Were can I download CM& and will the notiable differences be between the one im using and CM7?
Also what is New Nightly? (You have #13 next to yours?)
Thanks alot guys
Mikrouwel
CM7 can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=918072
Or, the latest, i.e. RC2 can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957140
Nightlies are automated builds created by the Build bot. If you check the first link I posted, in that post's download link, you will find new nightlies everyday. Nightlies implement minor code changes, and, are experimental releases. They may add new features (eg: Nightly #11 implemented Android 2.3.3, #13 implemented FM Radio etc.), but may also add new bugs sometime.
As for differences, one cant say for sure, since ROM preference is a personal choice. Try it, if it suits you, use it, else, switch back.
Hi There,
I am going to try CM7.
IS the RC2 stable and if so is it more or less stable than RC1?
Also if I just go into recovery and flash will I have to flash nightlys or not?
If I am not mistaken it runs 2.3 and I thought that there were many features that didnt work on 2.3? (Gingerbread)
Also what kernal do you recommend I should use on CM7 that will let me got 768+?
Many many thanks guys for all the help
Oh yes and what app do I use if I want to keep all my apps and contacts and stuff like that? I used titanium backup last time and only got like half the stuff back?
Thanks Guys
Mikrouwel
* RC2 is stable for me. No issues so far, although camera sound bug is still there - If you take some pics using flash, phone loses all sound and you have to reboot.
* After RC2, it is upto you whether you want to flash nightlies or not. There is no compulsion.
* Can you list some features that dont work on 2.3? Personally, I cant find anything amiss over 2.1 / 2.2
* CM7 comes by default with an overclocked kernel, which will allow OC to 768. Overclocking beyond 768 is not possible since that is the safe limit for the Wildfire's CPU. Because it is overclocked by default, if you get a bootloop, flash HCDR.Kernel v4.1 after flashing CM7. This will restore stock clocks, but, still allowing OC using an app like SetCPU
* Apps can be backed up using Ti backup / Mybackup Pro etc. Contacts can be backed up by going to Contacts > Export > To SD Card. Then, after flashing, again going to Contacts > Import > From SD Card, and select the VCF File. SMS'es can be backed up by using the free SMS Backup App from the market.
MOD EDIT: AS WE ARE REORGANIZING THE GTABLET FORUM - ALL ROMS/KERNELS/ETC WILL HAVE THEIR Q&A POSTS MOVED TO THE Q&A SECTION.

STANDARD DISCLAIMER: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. By running this firmware mod, you agree that there is the possibility that you may brick your device and neither myself, XDA nor Viewsonic are responsible for supporting you if that occurs. In this case, it is required that you learn and setup nvflash prior to running this mod.
This is a port of AdamComb with pershoot kernel and some tweak for performance and usability. Thanks all the greatest Adam, Vegan, Gtab devs that make this rom possible.
Install instruction:
1. Make sure the version of your bootloader and download the corresponding rom
2. I guess most of you should already be in CWM, but if you are not. update the recovery to CWM first. Stock recovery might work but you need to do some work and CWM is much better anyway.
3. Wipe data / Factory reset. It might work well, but you will most likely have problems without doing this.
4. Using the "install from sdcard" to install and enjoy.
Features: Very fast and stable
For AdamComb features, check its original post at tabletroms.
1. Overclocked by default, max frequesy adjusted by battery level.
-- you could use setcpu to adjust the min, max frequency. The build-in script for cpu management respect the setting from setcpu
2. Tweaked internal storage & SD card read speeds
3. Annoying ads in programs are blocked
4. Calkulin's battery saving script
5. data2loop works super well
6. pre-load some useful modules at boot time, e.g. cifs, ntfs, utf8, tun.
Known Issues:
1. Anything related to hardware acceleration
2. Stock Camera App does not work.

changelog:
1. update to pershoot 26.32.43 kernel. As already confirmed by some users, this version runs faster and hopefully it also resolve the BT tether issue
2. fix the "import" bug in init.rc.
3. change the label of sdcard and mircosd to be the same as in stock version. So far I have not got any issue and it does fix the "install unsuccessful" problem for some app.
4. remove some libs that does not use in gtab to free up some space. now all the libs in pershoot kernel are available in this rom. just edit the /system/etc/init.d/05modules to add your desired lib in the modules string.
5. Thanks all you guys for testing this and digging into issues. This help me a lot to resolve some issues here. It is the effort from all of us that make this rom better and better.

link: http://www.mediafire.com/?xqoo08e1m49no1d
changelog:
1. battery life improved a lot
2. overall system performance improvement.
3. partially fixed bluetooth. Not sure how much it works (pulling some of bluetooth libs from flashback)
4. remove street and office app. put back camera app (it still fc, put it here so that some power user could play on it to see if we could find a fix here)
5. fix an issue that usb connect and debug notification does not disappear when the usb is disconnected (well, it still do not work if the usb is disconnected when the system is on sleep)
6. code reorganization and clean up. make it easier for some power user to change settings and plug in scripts without the need to unpack/repack boot.img. Hopefully we could have more power user to play with the system and further improved this rom.
7. change the cpu governor to respect on cpumaster, so you can use both setcpu or cpumaster to adjust the voltage if you really do not like the cpu managed by the buildin script.
8 change bootanimation (pulling from the bootanimation collection by thinkdevoid @tabletroms)
Again, back up and wipe data and factory reset (at least wipe dalvik cache) if you want a smooth experience. Almost all unexpected FCs are related to NOT wiping data

BL1.1 ONLY
This is the old rom that based on Roebee's BOS HoneyComb. Check Roebeet's orginal post for more detail.
Besides the greatness of BOS, this rom also have some additional features:
1. Overclocked by default (max frequesy adjusted by battery level)
2. Tweaked internal storage & SD card read speeds
3. Annoying ads in programs are blocked
4. Calkulin's battery saving script
Known Issues:
1. All the BOS issues apply here

alpha 1.6 (based on BOS_a6.0)
Note: users in other roms have mix experience on data2loop. It works very well for me, but I do not know how it will work for you. If it works well, you should expect data intesive apps (e.g. email, galary, market, etc) load much faster. If you do not know what data2loop is and its potential risk, do not flash a1.6.2. a1.6.1 already perform very well. you should wipe user data/factory reset before flashing a1.6.2 if you decide to try it.

Just flashed this last night and had about 2 hours with it (not a lot of time at all but) I love it!!! It's my first Honeycomb ROM. Great so far... what a learning curve HC is? Just weird but I am getting the hang of it. Thanks all for your hard work!

Loving the rom so far. Really great job, one question though. Is there a way to make it so pressing the home button takes me to the main screen instead of to the large clock? I'm probably just messing an easy setting or something, but I can't seem to find it.
Edit: For anyone interested, unless there is another way that I'm aware of, you can fix this by using titanium backup to freeze the clock in the backup/restore menu. This breaks the alarm clock though. Hope that helps, maybe someone else will have a better solution

Could you explain a bit more what is your issue?
What you mean by "large clock"?
I am on 1.6.2 and anytime I press home button I end on home screen. :-O
First HC rom here too, really nice interface improvements. Thanks to the devs for giving us this!
Is it just me, or is anyone else "missing" the menu bar at the bottom of the home screen with home, menu, back etc keys?
EDIT: Issue was resolved by wiping and reinstalling. Think it might have been caused because I launched VLT Launcher first time I booted up HC and not the default launcher.
hey guys, i just upgraded to this from vegan 5.1.1 and so far im liking it! Its worked fairly well for my games so far including plants vs zombies keep up the great work!

How does this rom handle video formats? What video player works best? Thanks

I am using UPnPlay + Rockplayer and so far it played everything I tried.
Only drawback is lack of fullscreen, but that is general HoneyComb issue:-(

When i would press home either on my gtab or on the screen, the screen would change to a large clock. If you've ever seen the desk clock feature on a droid (like when its in the dock), thats what it looked like.
I had the previous BOS version from this thread of 6/24 (?) and it ran fine. I downloaded 1.62 and it would not run - it would not go past lock screen. 1.61 did the same thing. Did full wipe before and after install, and downloaded both versions again and after install the same thing happened. I am now downloading 1.52 and will try that one.

I just updated from a1.5 to a1.6 and found out that ad-hoc networks are not supported (I get error 82). Rebooted many times but still doesn't work. This is a great problem because I cannot use wifi tethering from my android phone therefore cannot go online!!! Any help?????
Same here as Aldo.Caruso - no adhoc wifi on 1.6.1
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
I noticed this rom doesn't have google talk installed. I pulled the honeycomb gtalk apk from bottle of smoke. So far it seems to work without issue. I have it attached here, just download and install like you would any other apk.
Good so far
Awsome ROM, only one problem so far for me. Facebook for Android 1.6 keeps saying I don't have a connection. While facebook with the browser works fine.
is anyone else having problems playing youtube videos (with in the youtube app) in HD? i can only play them in sd (very grainy in the large tablet screen)
But other then that excellent rom - thanks to all that are involved.

Sorry, I had never seen that thing you are talking about. Picture will help here. But if you have such an app installed, go to application management in settings and check whether it is not marked as default app for home. If yes, reset that setting.

I decided to go back to alpha1.5 because lack of ad-hoc network support is too much an issue considering that Gtab is wifi only and tethering to my android phone is the only way to go online!!!
Anyway I just read this on the Slatedroid forum:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/18755-ad-hoc-network/
This file and method are meant for the Iconia Tab but I posted a question asking if it could work also on other tablets. Will let you know.
Could someone smarter then me try to explain why the heck you need such weird thing like ad-hoc wifi :-O
I know that Google disabled some useful things in Android, but I am sure ad-hoc was not disabled, it was simply ommited as completely obsolete and useless way of connection.
Every modern WiFi chip can act as AP, so there is no reason to use ad-hoc. Is it possible to secure it? I am not sure, but I doubt it...
Anyway, I am using my other android phone for wifi tethering and there is definitely no need for ad-hoc for wifi tethering...
But maybe I am completely dumb. In that case, please educate me a bit...
issues with 1.6.2 on GTablet UPC300-2.2
really like it, very fast and looks great. i have a few questions:
1. the camera is not working at all.
2. i have no volume control at all, it is full or off no in between.
Any one else see tjis or have a solution to fix it???
Thanks
I just purchased an Elocity A7 and updated the firmware to 2.0134 and applied Dexter's Elocity 1.42 mod.
Everything seems to be working great, I can get to the marketplace etc. but for some reason none of the apps will go to the SD card that I have installed.
I can see the card mounted but when I go the the App to SD app the column to move to SD card (that I used in prior versions) is not on the screen.
Is this normal?, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for your replies.
Demi
Your procedure isn't correct, first you have to load dexter 1.41Rom then add the patch 1.42, you cannot put 1.42 ontop of the factory firmware...
Elocity did not include the option, so you cannot move apps with stock firmware...
you need the CyanogenMod released, then you get the option to do it.
Thank both of you for the prompt replies.
Should I reinstall the elocity software again, over the Dexter mod?
What does CyanogenMod mean, and how do I install? it.
Sorry, I'm not very technical.\

I played around with a version of the CyanogenMod7 for tegra2, and now its in a acceptable state, so you can test it too.
I have used the latest Atrix4G 2.3.4 + vega / optimus 2X to put this version together, and its based on the original elocityA7 kernel and includes modules for cifs,nfs,ext3 and ext4 support.
So although its a Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 base, kernel is still just 2.6.32.9 based, so cpu, memory and kernel related optimizations are not here.
CyanogenMod7 offers a lot of customizable features, full multilanguage and latest enhancements found for our android comparing to original stock a7 rom, you get alot more features.
Fixes in Version3 (Cyanogen7RC1ModA7-3)
- Youtube HD video fixed
- VolumeUP/VolumeDown assigned to sound&search buttons
- DSP Manager is now working, it is really to loud for internal speaker if you go full power.
- GoogleTalk app update + crash fix. (still no video working)
- USB_OTG app updated, so changes take effect immediately when you swith HOST/DEVICE mode (used to connect tablet to pc with usb-a2usb-a cable)
- Real 1080p video out with HDMI (not sure how it affect playback, it seeems just upscaled)
What is found not working right now:
- Camera photo & video recording (photo stopped when avi got enabled)
- rotation sensor is 90 wrong (in gameloft games)
- bluetooth
What is working
- Netflix runs out of the box on this one, as i made build.prop changes so it thinks its a Xoom.
- wifi networking
- sdcard , usb host/device and USB stick support.
- all features of CM7
- mkv/avi/wma/wmv hardware acc. video playback (almost seems like more avi is supported than before?)
Download http://dext3r.komodin.org/Elocity-A7/Cyanogen7RC1ModA7-3.zip
to install after just as full update, but is a kernel only update. (extract Update.zip from this zipfile to root of sdcard)
Download http://dext3r.komodin.org/Elocity-A7/Cyanogen7RC1ModA7OCKernel.zip
Thanks,
I get an error message when I try to do this update. I am on Dexters Mod
Demi
The error message is cant find entry for META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary

unzip the downloaded zip, and there is a zip inside named update.zip that needs to be extract and out on the root of your sd card
Thank You for the reply. It worked perfectly and now everything is up to date and working. I don't know how to press the thank you meter so here goes a double thank you...
How does the original question apply to the A7+?
I can't access card and I'm having memory issues... new thread has specifics
