Hi guys! Guess what? The TAB is going like hot cakes at ASDA UK, only £299 SIM-Free right now to get!
A bloody bargain!
Limited offer only!
Get your TAB and expand our forum!
I'm considering getting ANOTHER Tab, so i can show of i have 2
From £437 - £299
http://direct.asda.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab/000504480,default,pd.html
Woot, woot!
Looks like they sold all 5 they had in stock...sold out.
Absolutely gutted
Other week I signed up to contract just to get the Tab as I only had £300 spare to spend. If I had waited a bit longer I could have got the sim free and used my current sim card for data
im gutted too i hope they do this for the galaxy s, i really want a gaaxy s to go with my tab!
On a related matter, when is the price of the 7" tab going to go down, the 8.9" and 10" have now been announced at $469 and $499...yet the 7" is still at $549 at Amazon (down from $629 admittedly).
I must say the Tab I had for a couple of weeks (loan from friedn) is the best Android tablet I've used so far (MIDnite, Nook Color, Dell Streak 7) and would get it if it was at $450.
yeh! more ppl should get it! i really hope asda drop the galaxy s price... is it as laggy as the tab? it doesnt seem so but they have the same specs ...

The stock browser didn't perform well for me on the stock ROM, but other than that it was fine. Using later JMx based ROMs fixed that problem too.
I have way more than 25 apps installed too, so I suspect it is something to do with the apps you have installed, but installing a custom ROM like Overcome may well help.

I've not heard of any lag issues on the Galaxy S.

Got one for £299 minus £10 quidco. Been holding back quite a while but the price was too good to miss.
I nearly returned it yesterday as the stock experience wasnt as good as I expected & browser was pissing me off big time. Spent most of the day researching roms & decided to try rotohammer which has turned the tab into beast. When I have time I'll try different roms to see which is best suited for me.

Yeah go for it you won't regret. I can actually bowse the full web now, not stupid mobile versions of the sites, email app doesn't crash anymore amongst other things.
I also installed ryanza lagfix & now get 2222 Quandrant score against 1105 before

If you upgraded to an EXT4 ROM, all you've done by installing the lagfix is waste space on your /data partition.
And can we please stop worrying about Quadrant scores? They are an absolute pointless waste of space, that gives no true indication of the relative speed of you device!

hi guys, just to let you know, O2 are price matching the Tab instore, and because of that places like Staples should also price match it too!
I got mine from the Bradford store yesterday
: )
Got my Tab from Asda Monday (took ages to deliver) so far I like it. The browsing space is much better. I wonder if the unit would of been better with 1Gb RAM though? It's rooted and i'm tempted by a custom Rom but I think i'll hold and see if an official 2.3 roms hove into view...

o2 seem to be having alot of price cuts lately..
their brand new Desire S has just dropped price to £329 PAYG!

When it arrives how can I check that its real and not a fake.
Thanks
Also, what rom is better. And which do you recommend me to install?
If you're worried about it being fake, that's the first red flag. The fake G1's I know of don't have a keyboard. They are OKish phones for the price, but are generally made by the lesser clone companies, don't run android are inferior to a real G1.
Have you got an url or something?

I paid $150 which is way too good to be true. They refunded me because they found out themself its not real product.

Can anyone recommend me which rom they prefer? I'm too lazy to flash to 5 different roms

Wow, that's pretty good of them, there's plenty of people out there who aren't trying to shaft you, but they hide well.
Probably should just get comfortable with a stock rom for a few days while you're reading up on the scene, then start with the latest stable cyanogen (currently 4.0.4)

Hey All
Just ordered myself a HD2 off of Ebay. Paid $750aud inc shipping. Finally decided to retire my slow old Xperia X1, will prob just keep using it to test new rom's that come out....
Now I have a few questions. Are they're any special tweaks or cabs to install to make it better? What case's are people mainly using with the HD2? Any general problems or things I should know?
Thanks everyone
I think that is very personal.
I am using cookie tab now and it is very good for what i like about a phone. Just look around this forum and read, try and experience !
It`s very nice to try tweaks especially if they are in a cab. If you don`t like it, just uninstall. If anything is not good the folks here will help you set thing right again.
Its a great forum for a great phone

You will not be disappointed... I was worried about the lack of keyboard when I made the change from the X1 to the HD2 and I can tell you its not a problem... for tweaks a must is BSB Tweaks (found on here in a sticky I think), has loads of tweaks that are very handy... there is also a thread on things to do with your HD2 when you get it... some of them are covered by bsb others not so much all handy... I have not yet had a problem with my HD2 but some do... again there are loads of threads about this problem or that... so far (touches wood as probably just jinxed myself) its been all gravy...
I reckon you should stay with the oem rom for at least a week and research this forum. customising your hd2 is a very personal thing, what suits one will not suit another. there's a thread which people post there must have apps, I would try there first. that's my opinion
It is interesting to see how fast the pricing of the Leo drops from 820AUD at the end of Jan to 750AUD now.
But anyway I recommand you to test your device for few days before doing some flashing or customising to see if there is any hardware issues
If I were you I would install several tweak softwares like BSB and HD2Tweak.
just to cover all the available reg tweaks
Just my tiny bit of advice
The Leo should amaze you lol
Cheers

thank you.
im not sure if AU's version can use China's WCDMA frequencies.

Other than that you'll love it, its a great phone and very customizable.

I lost my rooted Aria with Froyo 2.2 and all the good stuff on it. What i got as replacement from insurance already has android 2.2.2 installed. Can u imagine how painful it is? i m keeping an eye on this thread and this webpage.. If anybody has any other news or any means by which i could get rid of at&t bloatware and to be able to install 3rd party apps, i would greatly appreciate that..
Well you can follow this link they have found a way to install 3rd party apps on unrooted phones. hope it helps till the s-off comes our way.
When did you get your replacement Aria? I thought AT&T's insurance replacement had been bumped to the Captivate.
If my aria becomes unusable, will the captivate be the replacement?
I just ordered a replacement aria from asurian. should be coming in the mail soon. they told me it would be a refurb aria, but I can hope it will end up being a captivate. doubtful...
@ E.Cdro: thanks a lot, i will look at it.. something is better than nothing
I just got my phone 4 days ago from asurion. yes it is a refurb aria.. i dont think they r giving away captivate for aria yet..

Haven't had the chance to get to radio shack. I did call them up and asked them to hold one for me. Even though my new Aria is on 2.2.2 and I am stuck with an un-rooted sense, it's less painful being able to use the trick to allow installing apps from unknown sources, so I still have some decisions to make---be cheap and go for the amazing deal of the $29 Inspire--or future-proof myself and wait for the SGS II.

That thing blows the iphone 4 away as far as specs go. Its screen is an inch bigger than the ip4, twice as much ram, and a dual core faster processor. And a much better camera. Sounds more like this phone is going to be direct competition to the sgs2 and iphone5.

This happened to me too I'm so sad. The microphone on my old aria decided to crap out and now I'm stuck with a refurb 2.2.2 aria. I hope someone can figure this out soon...
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones as far as warranty goes. After having WM phones for a few years I got my Aria in Feb. Actually wanted a 4" phone but decided to get this (happy now that I did) and wait to see what comes out. Almost 30 days to the day I noticed that the antenna on the back cover was coming loose on one of the corners. This is after I was already rooted and flashed a couple different roms! So, I'm thinking the chances of getting a replacement back cover are slim to none and I'm going to end up with a phone that can't be rooted or have to live with possible antenna issues. I call AT&T, they have someone call me. After a couple phone conversations and an email update I get a new back cover in the mail a week later. Amazing!!! Maybe the fact that I've been with AT&T about 12 years helped!
I know many of your are torn between these 2 devices, especially now because of Verizion's instance on making your android experience miserable. This is a quick compare of the 2 devices since I've had both in my possession about 5 days now.
If you're too impatient to read the whole thing The short version is the S# is awesome but get a Nexus.
Build Quality- Winner Nexus
Feels much more solid and the S3 although sleek and smooth feels like it would break or scratch easily. The GN feels like it would be fine in your pocket unprotected and not get damaged by keys or loose change.
Screen - Winner S3
I'm giving this one to the S3. If you didn't have them next to each other you may not notice, but the S3 screen is a bit larger, brighter, and crisper. However the S3 has no bezel to protect the screen what so ever the screens glass blends right into the backing. This feels sexy but I think will be prone to scratching. The nav buttons on the GN are convenient and auto hide when watching movies and playing some games.
Radio - Winner S3
I posted the test results on my twitter but if you haven't seen it the S3 gets better receptions and faster DL speeds almost everywhere I test them together. This may be because I'm running a ported version of JB from the GSM models. Once I flash the new radios I may update this
Cpu - Winner S3
This is actually tough. Im running 1808 mhz on the GN right now and it flies. However, dues to the fact that the S3 will get custom kernels in the near future I see them taking full advantage of this monster processor.
Ram - Winner S3
695 useable on the GN, 1.62 on the S3… obvious.
Camara - Winner S3
The new jelly bean features are cool but the S3 will get those very soon.
Battery - Winner S3
This could be due to the heavy OCing on the GN, but the S3 makes it all day with plenty of usage by my wife.
Software - Nexus
Will continue getting the latest android and fully functional rome since everything we need comes from Google. After the devs tackle the boot loader issue they still have the 4g ril in front of them. Functional AOSP for the S3 is a long time coming.
Longevity - Nexus
Verizon is only obligated to update the S3 for 18 months I would doubt seeing updates after that. The nexus S is getting official JB… I believe the GN will get the K desert and maybe the L also.
Price
Nexus you can pick them up used in very good condition around 300 this will keep your unlimited data as well since you won't use and upgrade.
Overall experience - Nexus
Its the little things that add but but the fact that I have already bricked my GN 5 times (my fault, getting greedy) and haven't had to make a trip to Odin is amazing. EVERYTHING works on the nexus. Its just everything you could want in a device as an android enthusiast / flash junkie.
Ask any questions you may have about either device and I'll answer them for you guys to help make your decision easier.
tl;dr the gs3 has great specs but the nexus is better for the type of stuff we like to do.

I'm getting my GS3 today before 3pm (it's on fedex truck for delivery). It's gonna be hard to replace my perfectly working AOKP Fascinate with unrooted TW After reading xda threads about GS3 root it seems that people have lot of problems with rooted stock image. Anyway thanks Stephen for your great work on fascinate and I will be still following you cause my aokp fascinate is going to my wife
ps. is there anyway to transfer my apps with data from fascinate to gs3 without root on the gs3?

I get my gs3 in a couple days.

Working on getting Toro building and compiling in the new AOKP-JB repo I would expect to see tests in the next few days for Toro. It will be short many many mods since we are starting from scratch. Once that is booting and working right I'm looking at the Fascinate. That is if JT doesnt beat me to it. IF all that is done I'll see where the SGS3 is but I think my attention will be focused on Toro and Fascinate until the bootloader situation is resolved.

Hi all, I just wanted to know if I buy the 32gb nexus from google play store it is the full uk version becuase the price is way higher on ebay-amazon etc for a uk version, is there a reason why google play is so much cheaper? Thanks for the possible help guys

Also i just came from a Onda v972 which suffered from bad firmware and lag/force closes, is the nexus nice and smooth and reasonably error free most of the time and fast? Thanks for the possible help guys

No. Google are selling faulty products hence why they are so cheap. And again, no, google are not choosing to update their own tablets. It's about as smooth as sand paper.

Google Play store prices are almost always the cheapest for Nexus devices. Amazon and the like are using the fact that the 32gb model is always out of stock to push up the prices.
It's a pretty stable product - I've kept away from modding mine (yet!) and have had only one time when I had to reboot it -got stuck trying to change a lockscreen widget. Worked on the second attempt.

Thanks a lot for the reply, i was just wondering why amazon and ebay still sell them so high when stocks are building up in google play. I have seen some great benchmark videos but had soooo much trouble with the so called "powerfull" onda that I wondered if any tab is quick enough.
Can't compare it to other tabs but it makes my Galaxy Nexus look really slow and that's overclocked with custom rom and kernel.

Haha thats all I need to know now, cheers
Just received mine today. Delivery was super quick (2 days). I don't know why anyone would buy one from elsewhere except if they get some kind of discount. Great piece of kit. Rooted it and installed Paranoid Android on it already. Works great! Enjoy your new purchase!
