[Q] recovery stock rom - Droid X General

I changed the name of my stock rom from the date I saved it to (stock) so I would know what it was. Now when I try to restore it it says MD5 mismatch!. Is there a way to fix it or just get a new stock rom?

The MD5 mismatch error happens for various reasons, but the most common one is due to having a space in the name, or an illegal character.
Change the name to thisismystockbackup, or something like that, and give it another shot.
Regards,

I just rooted my phone and installed fresh rom. LOVING IT BY THE WAY. I installed titanium backup and backed.up the lock screen apk before deleting it to get the standard android lock but I can't seem to find out how to reinstall it should I just re flash the rom to get it back? Oh and I did do a nandroid backup before I deleted it thanks in advance

If you did a nand backup, then just restore it.
Thanks man I really appreciate it. But I've got another question non related about Roms can anybody recommend a good stock rom that still has hdmi and 4g I liked cm6 but it is clearly lacking these features

For a great stock based ROM, I recommend Ava's z1 or MikFroyo. If you don't want much Sense in your phone, go with VaelPak 3.0 for sure. It rocks and runs with less of HTC's bloat than any other ROM I have ran.
Also, in the future, if you want to delete apk's from the system for whatever reason, just rename them with a file explorer like Root Explorer. Just navigate to /system/app and locate the apk, like htclockscreen.apk and rename it to something like htclockscreen.apk.old. That will make it disappear until you decide you want it back, then you can just rename it back, and you're good to go. That will work with just about any app you don't want around any more. Plus it has the benefit of being easily reversible if there are problems associated with it's removal.
Thank man life saver!

Settings and about phone. I am just wondering because Rumm is 2.3.320 and I think Fission is 2.3.340. If you want try this before you try Rumm. Backup current ROM and then run the Metro Flash from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730289. Also make sure your APN settings are correct.
Thanks a lot I found that I can have everything working with the stock Rom. Using root explorer to push the u2nl and upstart.sh. it will only send mms using 3 mags pixel.

Help with mms!!!
Ok, I've followed everything step by step in order to make my stock GB DX work on Metro instead of VZW. All went perfectly until the last part. Flashing MetrOFF 1.2 (GB). I have put the file on my sd card and tried running it in recovery mode per instructions, and it seems to start, but then fails out saying that it's not signed and aborts. Does anyone know how to make it work? I like the stock ROM and took out most of the bloatware that I didn't want. The rest is perfect imo, except the MMS part. I don't have service yet because I want the phone working %100 before paying another company money for service. Pease help!!?

Try using the old version of CWM recovery.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
ok.. CWM Recovery. Sorry, I'm tired and I don't quite follow. I know I didn't say which instructions I followed, but I never had to dl another recovery prog to get this far. I did get the instructions from this forum and followed them to a tee. After all of that, I ran across another thread that showed me how to mod settings through ##7764726 with the code 000000 (Well, it led me there and I figured out alot just by looking around.), and then another prog allowed me to set the APN. Anyway, I wonder if between that and other forum instructions, did I bypass having to use the MetrOFF mod? I'd still like to because all of the other instructions there were right on the money and don't want to find that I missed something going through a back door. TY for the info...
Also (a bit off topic), I need a prog that will allow me to actively switch between apps (ie. Web, game, IM service, sms/mms, e-mail, etc) w/o having to back out completely or restart the app or navigate from the home screen to that app every time. Kinda like Task Manager in Windows Mobile 6.5??? I'm sure I'll have to designate a shortcut to that app on the home screen (wish I could make a button do it, like the back button ), but it would make "fast switching" a hell of alot faster and easier. TY big time for any help here!!!
Going further down the rabbit hole... Why isn't it told that in order to install CWM you need to get something from Java in order to undersrtand the SDK file of Android and then from there (God willing) understand wtf you're doing to install CWM on the DroidX? It seems pretty clear that this is the process to get an app from the AndroidMarket to work on this phone. Yes, for me it's worth the effort, but for a noob with no patients that just wants the better to be best, I think it should be an added must in all instructionals! Even my tech savvy self (still learning all things android) is perplexed and almost confused at all of this. I hope I help someone out there with all the same frustrations...
OK. I have since went round and round like most of us do to get things working correctly. I have had success in getting Bootstrap on my phone via .apk on my sd card (not the way I expected to after much hw and following guides), but even now that I have successfully installed CWM, I still can't run the MetrOFF zip file. I get an error stating that:
"Amend scripting was depreciated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was Necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages."
I then found the Metroff 1.3 [Edify] version that was also meant to remove a roaming indicator, and it was also aborted because of a yet unknown (to me) error. Again, I ask, Please HELP?
No older CWM...
@ Bigshotrob22
Ok, I finally figured out why you said to use an older version of CWM. Problem that I have now, is that I can't find on older version that works. I found 3.0.something and tried it, but it only booted to a black screen everytime I tried to use it at all, so I went back to 5.0.whatever for now. Can Anyone please post a link to an older version that will work on DroidX?

[Q] MMS Fix? HELP mms_config.xml on HTC HD2 running LEO Stock Desire NAND Android Rom

So before anyone says something. I've searched the Forums a good 2-3 weeks before becoming a member to ask this question. I NEED HELP.
Okay so, I've installed the LEO Stock Desire Nand Android Rom on my HTC HD2. Only probably is that the pics sent through mms are very small in comparison to the actual files. I've figured out that I have to edit the mm_prop.conf and change it to say Nexus or N95 instead of the Bravo in order to fix it. But I just can't seem to replace the file or edit it. I've literally tried everything. Mind suggesting new alternatives? Does anyone know how to fix this? Please help. Thanks
So when you say you have been unable do you mean you can't open it and make the changes?
Sent from my HTC Runnymede using XDA App
Let me make a correction. I specified the wrong file. I meant the mm_prop.conf file. And no. I know how to open it and edit it. My question is, how do I re-write the original file that is in the /system/etc directory? Is there anyway to flash it? Because I am having trouble implementing the fix.

U only joined to ask a question -_-
By trying everything I'm assuming u used root explorer to edit the file and checked to see if u can set a user agent in the messaging app itself, haven't been on a Desire build in a while but seeing how they're highly updated I would either reflash or search the thread which u got the rom one more time because that seems like an issue ppl wouldn't ignore
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
Haha. No, I didn't join just to ask a question. And you would think that someone would ask this question, which they have, but no one has actually found an answer. According to the forums the orginal Leo Stock Desire Nand Android ROM is the only ROM that hasn't been updated since it's release.
So in order to fix the mms problem in this ROM I must edit the file, but everytime I do, I am unable to rewrite the actual file because its permissions make it so that you can't.
Will rooting the phone, make it so that I can gain access of the ROOT files? How would I go about doing that?
And does anyone know how to flash a root system file using the install .zip option in clockwork? Because that sounds like it could solve my problem.
Not exactly sure if this will work for the rom that your using but tytung uploaded a zip that you can flash through cwm that fixes this problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11419702#post11419702
Worked for me on simple mobile
Thanks I'll look into it, but I doubt its compatible with the rom I'm running. Anymore suggestions?
Try going into the messaging app and changing the user agent to NexusOne (in settings and then select custom) you probably still need the file edited somehow, but it doesn't hurt to see if it helps
wow -__-
that last comment doesn't apply to this rom. This rom was the first to be released and doesn't support that feature.
I meant the builds, but just try another Desire rom if its something that irritates you. Just saying
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
I've already tried that and they all seem like they have either too many bugs, or they're missing some features that the original already offers.
To me the original rom is complete in terms of most functionality and glitches. The only thing it really lacks is the mms fix. Which I'm trying to fix myself, but am stuck...

[Q] Original size partitions G1?

Hi all.
What are the original sizes of the partitions on the internal memory of G1(System, Data and Cache)?
I used a custom MTD and I want to restore de factory sizes of the partitions but i don't know what size it has.
Thanks
Depends on your radio /spl. Depending how you did your partion you may just be able to flash an update.zip that will do it for you. Search cmtd in the developers forum
Sent from my NXM726HN using XDA App
Flash the FR-remove-...zip file and you will return to the standard layout of your SPL currently installed, but don't forget to wipe everything before installing a new ROM.

Thanks for reply.
The custom partitions that I have, I have created it using recovery-v1.5.9-Alpha3-CustomMTD_S.zip whit a custom layout(mtdpartmap.txt). I can change sizes modifying this file and flashing again recovery-v1.5.9-Alpha3-CustomMTD_S.zip to apply changes but I dont know original sizes.
Radio: 2.22.19.261
I found FR-remove-v1.5.6-CustomMTD_S.zip- in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983834
Can I use that file?
Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
that looks right "FR-remove-v1.5.6-CustomMTD_S.zip"
its been a while since i used it but im sure thats it.
look at these pages for better understanding:
https://github.com/Firerat/CustomMTD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717874
both of these threads helped me a great deal in learning about cmtd
Thanks for your help
I flashed FR-remove-v1.5.6-CustomMTD_S.zip and install Android 1.6 and problem fixed.
The problem was that I was testing Android 2.3.7 and for that ROM it was necesary modify the internal partitions, when I try to back to Android 1.6 and I tried to install apps from Market always got me a error message downloading the app, in logs appeared something about not enought space(cache).
Thank you guys

DHD ROM Problems

hey, I recently rooted my phone (successfully) and have been on a ROM spree, however I decided to go back and use ARHD 6.3.2 w/ no sense...
all is well untill after the initial htc setup, after i'm done theres no launcher and it says theres a problem with "com.htc.setupwizard" or something along those lines?
Other ROMs work fine and so does ARHD, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Did you do a full super wipe before installing the ROM?
Do a full super wipe, check the MD5 sum of the ROM zip file you downloaded and re flash.
Yeah did full wipe with the link in the ARHD thread, i seen the MD5 sum, if its wrong how do I fix it?
Thanks
You re-download the from and flash it again.

The md5 is a checksum. If it doesn't match you have a bad download

Redownload the ROM.
I advise against flashing no-sense scripts, taking out vital parts of Sense will not have the ROM react kindly....

If the checksum is wrong, then as others have said, download the rom again.
You might clear your browser cache first, too.
Thanks I'll sort it tonight
