reading the MT4G dev thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834225&page=168
and poster bam0027 says
"So, because you have radio software more recent than 26.03.xx.xx .... you're in the same boat as I was" (cant root since radio too new)
poster banburen's radio was posted as
"baseband version 12.28b.69.140eU_26.03.02.26_m"
the guide posted where newer radio being a problem for gfree was
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
where it states
"gfree is known not to work for radio firmwares with higher versions than 26.03.02.xx"
based on this, banburen's radio above should be ok, no? 26.03.02.26_M is not newer than 26.03.02.xx
? (my ponit is - i have the same radio but an older string before it, and i'm thinking of rooting) mine is baseband 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
PS- i cant post in dev yet so that's why im regurgitating this here...
I dont have a good answer for you, but you did post in the correct section.
maybe the original guys might have a better idea. thanks for reviewing anyway.

im jus wondering which radio works better:
the RADIO UPDATE - 4.04.00.03_2 (from ERE36b/EPE54b leak)
or
the RADIO UPDATE - 4.03.00.21_2 (from ERE27 update)
im bet this question has been answerd before but i couldnt find the answer..
The correct answer is whichever one works best for you. You need to try both, because everyone is getting different results based upon their location.
i recently upgraded to the 2.13.531.1 rom and its giving me a lot of trouble... the main thing i want to fix is the connection, it keeps searching for service this didnt happen in the old rom. Is it safe to downgrade just the radio version back to 2.08 which was in the old rom. if so whats the process? i am new to flashing so please excuse me if this was asked before
Please post you're question in the already open stock rom thread at the top of the forum, or the radio thread.
and to give ya an answer it is safe but it's always best to use the radio that came with the rom as you'll get better performance overall.
Peace,
Joshua
Can anyone tell me what is the new of Radio and spl for Magic?

Can you tell us what your current spl and radio is?
By the way... how is this related to Apps or Games?
Wrong section and not enough information.
Give me one reason not to close this thread.
I'll move it to General but for future reference I'm going to start just deleting posts that aren't posted in the right section and the OP may even receive a ban for a day or two for repeated offenses. Just FYI.
When the ROM devs refer to the new radio they are refering to the 6.35 radio, im not going down to the exact number mines 6.35.08.29 for example (theres a slightly newer one) and I dont know what people really consider a new SPL (still noob here) but I've found most hacks are compatible with the 1.76.1007 SPL (enginereerings SPL I beleive) and majority of people seem to be running it including me Sorry if that was a little confusing lol
Have a good one mate.
As far as I know, the RADIO is the firmware which controls all communications (WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth...) and the SPL... good question!
It stands for Second Program Loader, essentially the Android Bootloader. It also provides some other functionalities like, f.i., boot options (recovery mode, fastboot, etc), it checks that the recovery ROM is digitally signed, contains the start up picture, etc.
I am not completely sure of what to do with it; some guides recommend to replace it with a engineered one, some others not, it seems to be required to update it to install the new recovery from Amon_RA....
I would like also to understand what is exactly the role of each part in this game and what are the dependencies in terms of updates: RECOVERY, SPL, RADIO and ROM.
Cheers.
Thankyou everyone.
My current Radio is 3.22.23.18
and 2010 spl,
is my radio is latest in 3 family?
I see G1 has 3.22.26.17, is it suitable for Magic?
Thankyou
anyone knows the new radio is 3.22.26.17 or 3.22.23.18 for Magic?
Thz in advance
Remember that 32A and 32B magics use different radios...
I've got a vodafone G2, but the newest roms always require spl 1.76 and radio 6.35,
Can 32b usd this spl and radio? How?
Thanks a lot.
Sure can just look in the magic development section and there is a thread that tells you how to upgrade to these.

Hi, i have a branded phone. It's brand is SFR which is from France. I'm in VietNam and i use this phone normally with other carriers here.
So HTC just released the 2.3.3 update. But from what i know, my phone does not receive the update directly from HTC but from SFR instead. If i want the update now. I have to unbrand it.
If i want to unbrand it, what should i do ? Root it then S-off and Eng-off , and install an unbranded ROM? where can i find a stock unbranded rom of HTC?
Also what's with the radio stuff, i seriously dont know anything about that, i'm afraid if i install new rom my phone may not work because it's different radio ?
Can someone please explain, i'm very new and very confused. Thanks!
Here's my phone information:
Android version:
2.2
Baseband version:
12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel version:
2.6.32.21 -gf3f553d

If you going to go to the effort of rooting etc. you may as well install a customised ROM (LeeDroid's if you want Sense, Cyanogen if you don't for example).
Radio is the software that controls network, bluetooth, GPS and Wifi. Read the radio threads in the development forum for more details.
Flashing a radio is the most dangerous thing you can do so do it last and read, read, read and understand before you do. Don't worry, you can install a ROM over the radio you have now.
All your questions about what to do and how are answered in the development forums.
[EDIT] Please ensure that it is clear from your thread subject what the question or issue is.
1. It will likely get you a quicker response.
2. It's just bad etiquette not to do so.
Hi. Thanks for the reply. i've read all the instruction in the android developement forum. I'm just confused about this radio stuff.
So basically my phone's radio is safe to install any ROM now? Is there any other way to unbrand my phone without installing a whole new ROM? or is there any way to grab the ROM from HTC and install it right now? Thanks very much !
If its pure HTC Sense your after, you can have the latest HTC Gingerbread with root.
You can find it HERE
Otherwise Android Revolution, CoreDroid, LeeDrOiD, et al are all good choices.

The radio is probably the most confusing not helped by the fact that what works for one won't for another. It's a try and see thing.

As a rule yes. But different ROM's have different recommendations as to what radio should be used with them (not that we take notice!), the worst case is that you may get worse battery life or worse signal. Won't brick your phone by having a mis-match.
No, no other way as the branding is part of the ROM (and even then some branding might be left and you will have to change the splash screen / boot animation as well).
No, at the moment it is not available from HTC directly.
IMO it is worth the effort to root, S-off your phone.
Once done you have access to all varyities of the different roms.
They differ very much from each other concerning speed, smoothness ...
Try it out and you will be satisfied.
Here at xdadevelopers you'll find everything you need.
i used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961406
Keep in mind that its an inspire but really just t-mobile's name for a desire.
After you get that done you can download any rom and install it through clockworkmod.
With that one click you don't have to worry about radios and such unless the rom says you have to.
Hi, thank you all for the quick replies, i'm gonna try those stuff out !!!
