Hi!!
Just bought my first windows mobile, htc touch hd, and I want to flash WM 6.5 on it.... I have several questions:
Is it safe to do that? or should I be worried about some complications?
what kind of knowlege I should have to do that? or does it as simple as having a new windows operating system on my laptop?
where can I find a step by step clear, simple english, instructions how to do that?
Is it different from the upcoming official windows mobile 6.5? am I going to be able to download applicatons from the upcoming offical windows mobile marketplace?
Thank you
Ayad
hello Ayad! and welcome to the HD forum. flashing is safe as long as you know and follow all the steps to prepare your device for flashing and then flash a ROM of your choice . click the links in my signature to get more info on flashing your HD with a WM 6.5 rom (especially the Dummies guide). next read the first post in the WM 6.5 ROM threads (in the ROM Development forum) to understand what each ROM includes, and finally, scan the recent posts in the ROM threads to get a feel for user experiences. it will take some time on your part, but you will be better prepared to flash your device now and in the future. take your time, be patient and you'll be successful! fyi, you will continue to get advice like mine because your questions have already been asked and answered. good luck and have fun!
Hi all,
I have just received a Touch HD (purchased in china) and it has a China Mobile shell software and it runs Win Mobile 6.5 (CE OS 5.2.21725).
I have NO Touchflo 3d, is there any way to flash this phone with another ROM?
Am i wrong to assume that the hardware should be identical to all other Touch HD's? The Phone itself is still full on HTC branding and the specs are all identical.
Please help if anyone can.
MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
Cheers,
Pekingman.
If it is in fact a 100% blackstone device then just follow the stickies in the rom section for guides how to flash it perfectly. Be careful as there are plenty of fake devices out from Asia, but it sounds like you have checked quite thoroughly already.
thanks verymuch stuntdouble, i shall proceed with the flash....
Hi everyone. So i basically need help with everything. Im new to this sort of stuff but have flashed my htc hd2 to windows 7 once before when it first arrived. I found that i couldnt use my sim with it. Im using virgin. Also couldnt download apps and stuff. Since then i have completely forgot everything on how to do it again. Im extremily bored of windows 6.5 and really want 7.5 so i ask does 7.5 support virgin mobile UK and can i actually use the app store and buy games from it? I also need a full tutorial on how to put windows 7.5 on my hd2 oh and i just read about the multi touch, i want to know how to install the drivers for that too so that the multi touch works well. Thanks everyone and i know this furom will help me out
just put latest Pdamatejam ROM v7.3 and you have latest build with latest multitouch driver, full unlock for support Opera and patched XBL games... or wait little longer for v7.4 and many new options....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
in my signature you have Tutorial v1.4.pdf with instruction how to install
also in Pdamatejam topic you have video tutorial...
Thanks alot. Am just wondering if virgin mobile works on this?
Hey there,
A close friend of mine has a HTC Touch HD and he never updated its ROM or anything because, well, he's not really familiar with the whole Windows Mobile or HTC world in general, and neither am I.
It has recently been freezing way too much and I believe that's because it has never been formatted, updated, or anything. Therefore, I borrowed the device from him in an attempt to try and fix that.
I'm familiar with Nokias, BlackBerries, iPhones, and have actually owned a couple of HTC phones but for a short while and never really bothered with backing up, updating, or such.
Can someone please guide me on what to do? I believe it has Windows Mobile 6.1 and the latest is 6.5 (according to research I've done). There is also something called ROM which is the OS, I suppose, that you install on the device, and I found hundreds of ROM and I don't know WHICH one to install or even HOW to install it.
I have also downloaded HTC Sync from HTC's website but it's not detecting my phone at all. Right now I downloaded Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows 7 64-bit in an attempt to connect with the device and backup or w.e.
Thank you so much in advance and please help me!

Installing ROMs is eassy on XDA. There are a lot of guides! For example, go to the windows mobile ROM development and search for what you want!
Maybe this info will help you:
-a ROM is a file which contains the OS you want to install. To install a ROM, you must connect your phone to USB and use special tools (use a guide to know);
-BUT before flashing, you must have SPL, which is a bootloader unlocker so you can install any ROM you want. And you can also update your radio.
Just basic info, check the guides please!

Thank you for your reply, mate. I swear all I've been doing is checking the guides and the FAQ and I still cannot manage to do the HSPL unlocker, unfortunately. It keeps giving me an error. I'm going to try in a couple of hours and see what I can come up with.
Can you please link me to any ROM that is WM6.5 and working fine? I really don't care what is missing from or added from it as long as it's working.
read the sticky, where all the guides and the rom link there
Thank you guys very much. I read the guides in the threads (BlackSTONEhenge Hyper) and the guide on how to do the HSPL thing and it worked!
Right now I am at 80% of the WM6.5 ROM installation. Hopefully everything turns out great in the end.
By the way, all I needed to backup was the SMS messages and the contacts, and I did that on a site called Bloove. Right now I can see them on bloove.com in my account, but does any body have any idea how to restore them on the HTC device using Bloove?
Thank you very much.

Hello all still having this wonderful device HTC HD2,
Directly asking my question - Is it possible Windows Mobile and Android to work on the same device? I think people call it dual boot. Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution. Badly there are still apps only available on WM which are very precious but I also very much like the easiness of Android.
I am using tytung Android 4.4.4 KK and I am having EU version of HD2.
Appreciate any guides,
BR,
Sure. You can start here:

@ poyensa
Thank yo poyensa! I manage booting both Android and Windows Mobile.
Now second question. Can I boot also Ubuntu together with Android on the NativeSD?
Cheers,
I think is possible but I have never tried: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975081
What about this one. Can this be applied to the HD2?
