Anyone know of a market place app that does not show all the Chinese apps and where I can possibly download it or any other information regarding this subject. I can't read Chinese and don't want them displayed in the app market.
very useful
How about just ignoring those... I can't read korean but their apps don't bother me as I know if will never use them.

+1 common sense , if you don't understand Chinese your hardly gonna download an app in that language so simply ignore.
Yes true, but there is so much junk on the market already, I only want to see what is in my language, it takes hours to go through all the crap they put on there and my phone tends to get a bit iffy when it goes far down a list and then I have to start at the top again.
Somewhere I think I saw someone that changed their market app in one of their roms to ignore all Chinese apps but I cannot remember what rom it was.

It's gotten a little.... green.
Welcome to about last week.
... and the market still sucks. No way to sort by popularity or # of downloads, search results usually yield Asian crap unrelated to your query, and its slow.
I love Android, I love tinkering with it, but they really need to fix the market. When I search for "xda developer" I shouldn't get pages upon pages of garbage in a language I can't speak. I should also be able to filter searches by free, paid, rating, downloads, etc.

Very much a mess still... Oh well

I knew it was out but i dont have it still!
New market doesn't show my downloaded free apps! Anyone got the same problem? If so, how is it solveable? BTW, if I search for those apps, then they show as installed - but not in my apps. Go figure.

I don't like the barf green at all. Other than that it seems to work fine so far, I haven't had an stuck in authorizing/installing issues like I had before yet. But I have had it lag a bit several times.
I do wonder if this is partially my SD card failing or something.
I have to admit being an app designer myself. It looks ****ty and amateur. However the usability fells much better.
Google pretty much build solid apps but design sucks. Just imagine I'd they invested in good designers, they would kick ass.

Clear market cache and something from the settings. Restart after clearing cache.
My old market didn't show downloaded free apps any more. What I did was go to preferences - applications. Then to market and erase its data.
After starting market I had the new market! And all installed apps were visible again.
I prefer not to have an option to sort by ratings/download number. If available, people would search for something, sort the list by ratings and download the top one or the second.
Not being able to sort by ratings gives less known applications the opportunity to shine in the market.
Well i put a app on the marketplace and its been a week google accepted it but i never get to see it on the market anyone knows why??
Thanks.

This is not the place for this topic
Try contacting the people on the Market where you placed your app.
Good luck,

If you mean the Android Market there are a few reasons why it would not show up. I still have problems with this on few devices actually.
Possible reasons...
Screen Resolution not supported. In you android Manifest you must specify which res are supported.
Device does not support one of the required features, bluetooth, compass ect...
Device is below minimum sdk version.
Sorry im on my phone and i dint know were to post it..
But i put the app on my phone and it works..

Its not a matter of working, its a matter of the market filters excluding it.
If it's been out for a week, it should at least show on Appbrain or androlib. I'd start there, just to check if it's actually in the market at all.
If a search brings it up there it means you messed up with the filters. If it doesn't show up even there, it means the app is not on the market at all, and you should probably contact Google support...
Post your AndroidManifest.xml file and what phone you are using.
Hi all
I would like to know if it's possible to update a third party application without user action.
I noted that the android market can self-update the installed apps. The user is not asked about an acknowledgment.
I don't want to offer my self-coded app in the market. I found a way to update this app from my homepage, but the user must this affirm.
you could make a service that runs when the phone boots up that checks whether a new version exists, and if it does it downloads it.

thanks for your help.
That's not the problem. The download and the install works fine. All I want is to get rid of the dialog asking the user whether he want to update or not.
sorry ignore, misread the question

oh I get you. I know it must be possible because like you said the market can do it, but I don't know how, sorry.
ill do some digging and see what I can find.

Is it just me and my xoom with 3.2 ROM... but I can't browse the market at all.... I'm missing the little arrows after "TOP PAID" etc. This makes browsing the market impossible... I can search and do see the staff pics etc. But cannot browse large categories...anyone else, or do I have to start fiddling with titanium...
Are you rooted? I have the same issue.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
yes, Tiamat 2.1 Hammerhead... market used to have those little buttons after "top free" etc...
I need to check my wife's xoom, it's not rooted.

Ok it's the same, missing apps. Can't look at all the sub folders. But if you search there still there.

So Google has made the market on tablet unusable in a way.... the new market on my Milestone (Droid) works OK.
It looks that way. I'm gonna dig a little and see what I can find. It may just be a fluke though.

Can not download free apps either.
The solution here and other boards does not work, remove Google Account and clear cached does not work.
It's some kind of linking issue in market. They left out the ability to see the tabs. If you search for an app that will work on the tablet it shows up. I just can't seem to find out why. It is like this on rooted and non-rooted xooms. They maybe working on it or may not even be aware the 3.2 update has this issue.

Helped.... so the broblem truly lies on the market itself
no problems here
I have a stock, not-rooted Xoom on 3.2, and the market is working fine for me. My Market version # is 1.0.28, if that helps anyone.
Edit: by "working fine" I mean not having the problem the OP described--I can access all parts of the market. But all is not well in marketland--I often have issues downloading/installing free apps. The "waiting to install" message will stay on the page while the progress bar grinds for a while. Sometimes things download, sometimes they don't.
So is this a 3.2 issue only? I have the same issue on rooted 3.2 with apps not downloading. I have yet to try paid apps versus free apps. I have only been trying free apps. im going to try a paid app as soon as I get my hands on that f_cker again.... or just say eff it and go back to 3.1... So it also kinda sounds like android wasnt ready for the 3.2 market update. ****ty..
I can download and install free or paid apps, my problem is the lack of good browsing of apps on the market...

It switches as to which has the tab next to it. I sent a report to Google, everyone should too. It worked fine on 3.1.

Same here, the links don't work. This seems to be a problem with European Market. GT10.1 users are also reporting this, so it has nothing to do with Android 3.2 or Xoom. It seems Google has updated European Market, it now includes "Featured for Tablets" section.
So i'm still having this issue. Ive installed Amazon app market and can install any app just fine, paid or not. I'm even back at stock rooted 3.1 versus the custom 3.2 rooted. I started looking into a complete market replacement app that doesnt rely on the market to d/l apps with roughly the same amount of apps, but it doesnt look like there are any. I did however find this, and yes its a repost, but I saw no mention of it here and thought it might be useful to some folks. I can't stand the WP7 look the new market has but whatever if it works then sweet. I have yet to try it but once I get home from work today thats the first thing i'm doing. Here are the links for the the 'WP7' style market that all our android phones got updated to, which also works on tablets:
Here is the XDA thread link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166169 (this one has the apk link)
And the Xoom forums link with reviews:
http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/motorola-xoom-help/8687-market-issues.html
Try it and post back if it works for any of you as i'll do the same.
ALSO just make sure you use Titanium backup to backup your current Market app before trying this replacment. Just in case.
EDIT:
So more results from research, since I only have my HD2 to work with here I have tried some tricks to revert back to an older version of the android market, it is the same fashion that I will do with my xoom. I have downgraded my market and 'disabled' (really just changed the permissions) the market updater apk to not have it update. I can confirm that it works so that way when I change the market on my xoom I can follow this same process to not have the market auto update and just enjoy xoom sweetness!!
Here is the info & link for reference:

Figured out a way to stop the market from auto updating itself after you uninstall the 'update' to v3. However, I take no responsability if this screws up your phone and more knowlegeable people can feel free to chime in...
1) locate /system/app/MarketUpdater.apk on your android.
2) change the Read, Write, and Execute settings to none (was rw-r--r-- for me)
That should do it. So far, I have not had the market update itself and am able to continue using v2. I used Absolute System [here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.canvs2321.absolute.system&feature=search_result] to undo it, although I am certain there are other pieces of software out there that can modify system files and allow you to look at the data. You DO need a rooted and NAND unlocked phone it says to run the software.
Hope this helps a few ppl.

Anyone know an easier way to remove these in bulk?

Long press on first to highlight then click all others you want to remove, once all selected hit the x in the top right. Only way I'm afraid. Play store management need some serious work.

No problems, always happy to help. I tend to go back through once a month to remove the crap from there, stops it getting too ridiculous. I try out so many apps that it would be a pointless list otherwise. There is also a cool app called My Paid Apps which shows you all the stuff you've purchased, really handy seeing as Google removed this option. Link bellow:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jkg.mypaidapps
My question is why remove it? does it make your phone slow?
I really like to know.

I don't want my list full of crap apps I'll never use again. Nothing about speed of phone. I only want to see apps. I'll use again and find useful. Not every single app I've ever tried or installed. Guess if you don't use the list or don't install much then it doesn't matter. But if like me your always trying out new apps the list guests ridiculous pretty fast and the vast majority of which I'll never want to use again.
