I have tried SEVERAL ways to fix it and none have worked. New radios, apps like gps status, trying a new gps.vision.so file, and other ways that I can't remember.
The only thing that I haven't tried is going back to a new rom with working GPS, enabling it, and then going back to a nandroid backup. Might try this tomorrow. Which rom should I try that has a working GPS?
What other ways to fix my gps have I overlooked?

When I first installed RC1, I replacing the gpsvision.so or whatever that file was did fix it....since RC2 haven't found that correct fix file....Anyone have a link to the whatever gpsvision.so the G2 likes with RC2?

Multiple CM7 users have been reporting problems with the GPS on numerous Nightlys. You're one of the lucky ones who hasn't been screwed by the bug lol.
Back to the topic, which Gingerbread ROM has an official working GPS? As in ONLY a FEW people complaining about having gps issues. Thinking about using a Sense rom to get gps working.

For my Desire Z and CM-7.0.0-RC2 I had to downgrade radio to get GPS working.
26.04.02.17 works for me and 26.06.02.27 (latest now) does not.
I can confirm that for CM7 RC2 on my G2 can not obtain a GPS lock.
My DZ works normal

Ditto for me. GPS stopped working when I installed CM 7 RC2.
GPS stopped working in mine as well when I went to CM7 RC2 and hasn't worked since. I'm now running the latest RC. I did get mine to work by flashing a different radio...as soon as I did that, GPS locked. I went back to the original radio I had before and GPS still works.
I think it's just a case of CM7 not reading the radio correctly until the radio gets flashed and forces CM7 to rediscover it. That's just what I THINK is going on from personal experience in computers...if it's wrong, please someone correct me.
I've been using the nightlies every since they started churning them out, The GPS stopped working on one of the builds and I never noticed. I'm currently on build 35 and I simply flashed my radio and GPS locks within seconds now..

Hi guys. I need a little help here please. I am running cm7 on my inspire 4g and for some reason my GPS doesn't wanna work anymore?
It rarely locks on a signal whereas it used to never have a problem and locked within 10 or 15 seconds.
I have tried different fixes. I tried the combined audio+GPS fix found on this forum. I've tried different kernels. I just can't get it to work!!!!
Can anybody please help me get my beloved GPS working again???

i had the same problem, i am using #17
for me it worked when i first turned on GPS and then 3G. And then maps located me right. It only worked correctly with 3G and not with WiFi.
maybe its the same for you
I'm using #15 and that didn't do **** to help me, lol. Ill get #17 tonight. Can I ask what kernel are you using on your phone??

Unfortunately that didn't fix it either. I don't understand what's going wrong. I had it working a few days ago! I have tried multiple different roms and kernels with no success. I have tried cm7 #13 #17 #17 rc2 and even android revolution and none of them worked.
I just don't get it?

Does the gps get a lock when using a stock rom?
Running GPS status before google maps etc. means I get gps lock straight away on cm7. Running maps 1st means don't get a lock.
Ok, so I've tried everything mentioned here. I've turned on and off different functions in different orders. I've rebooted a million times too also while having things turned off or on.
I haven't tried it with a stock rom try as I modded and flashed cm7 on the phone the day I got it hut remember that the GPS worked up until the other day and now I don't know why it wont work.
Ill try flashing a stock rom on tonight and see what happens.

I have exactly the same issue. I downgraded from 1.75 to 1.36, rooted, ENG S-OFF, radio S-OFF and flashed Android Revolution with the recommended radio and I cannot use GPS at all. Tried flashing CM7 and same again.

when you install a CM7 nightly then the radio isn't changed.
It install only the ROM.
Why this question about the radio version?
i thought the problem of the reboot could be the Radio...

Well, i'm experimenting some freezing issues with my Htc Legend on CM 7.03, when the wifi is on, i launch Android market (or something else... like trillian, a game etc..) in order to search apps or upgrade installed ones, after few swipes... : big freeze, then reboot.
i'm experimenting this problem since the first stable release.
I'm running LauncherPro Plus as Home Replacement, have S2E (for A2SD) and the 7.13 radio.
I would just know if someone else do have this issue too.

same problem here too.
I had the same with one of the nighlies (87). I had Go Launcher has homescreen replacement.
Running 7.0.3 with ADB there were no issues anymore!

These WiFi reboots sound similar to those in ogo2's Sense 2.3 ROM, I wonder if they're linked?
Well ogo's, rom is 97% cyanogen 7, and cyanogen 7 has had these wifi issues since they started using htc code (see post in dev section).
partial work-around
well, going back to the latest stable version of cyanogenmod (7.0.3 at this time...even though i will miss the better responsiveness of adw in the newer nightlies) and using wifi fixer is a partial work-around to this problem for m.

Has anyone any experience with wifi network, which requiers to enter user name and password, first time you open the browser? I have such case at work, and my problem is tha this first page just won't load. It works ok on my coworkers phone (nexus s). Any suggestions what can I try. I've tried with Skyfire browser and with nativ cm browser, but it doesn't work. I'm using CM 7.0.3 stable

Have anyone got experience about these roms?

I havent tried all of the roms, but ill tell you that Yoshi (running 1.4 here) with:
Overclock to 576, ONDEMAND
Compcache 10%
Surface Dithering off
And an autoTask killer.
Is as fast as it can be, very smooth, plus since i got it, only 1 time it restarted so its stable.
Mine is a fender and with the autotask killer most of the time i got 50-60Mb of RAM available. (one day i saw 80-90, but idk what didnt load to get that much ram)
Also dont forget to have the HOME screen always persistent because it takes time to load after being killed.
As for the battery, i go on all day with the same charge, and when i get to my house i still have 40%left (using JuiceDefender) but im not a heavy music listener so it might be different with you,plus wifi + 3g turn off all day till i need it.

Oh yes, i forgot my GPS doesnt work also, it turns on and everything but i cant see any sattelites with GPS test app.
I thought this was a hardware issue rather than ROM because i bought this refurbished (new screen and body) so i was thinking they screwed up the antenna when they rebuilded it.

I searched my SD and the file was there so i assume its flashed already, plus that fixes not being able to turn on/off the GPS, but my problem is that i cant see any satellites but glad it worked for you.

2-Yoshi 1.5 (android 2.3.5) is the best
I like carz12's CM7 better than Yoshi 1.5. Yoshi uses carz12's kernel. Overall though I like DietGingerbread the best
And Carz12 is also the developer for Dietgingerbread

It works well but it have a problem in airplane mode. I could not wake up the phone form airplane mode

Yes, it does have DIS in airplane mode. However, others have noticed that the problem disappears if you set the min clock frequency to 352Mhz. I also noticed that the airplane mode bug does not appear if bluetooth was enabled before airplane mode was entered.
This latest version of CM7 by carz12 is really sweet for our phones.

My GPS is not working, accelerator does and everything else but GPS just wont work...
What should i do? flash it with another rom? is there some kind of a fix that someone is familiar with? Did anyone have a similar problem and if anybody knows what might be the issue please, cuz I'm ultra noob, i already bricked one HTC so i don't like doing it...

That is a really old CM7 nighly you installed, try a newer one.

Just to rule out some rogue app messing things up, you should do a superwipe ext 4 , reinstall a rom along with gapps and use a new login once you first boot up so that none of your market apps download from the market. You can create a new gmail account just to test. Once you boot up with the new account, don't install any apps except Google Maps, especially don't install any gps related apps. Open Maps first while you are outdoors to see if you get a gps signal.
Also remember to stand outside (clear GPS signal possibility) around 5mins after all those wipes.
I had the same issue and set my phone to outside for 10min with GPS Status on and no screen saver -> worked like a charm.
