Hello XDA community, I have a root problem on my device. Im using Super_ONE_Click to root my Vibrant on 2.2 Froyo UVKA6 with Kernel V. 2.6.32.9
The problem is that somehow the root access is declining attempts from applications like Root Tools, Titanium BackUP, Root Explorer ect.... When i root the phone it did installed the Super User (SU) apk to the phone but is not giving me permissions to root access.
What it went wrong when it was ok before and now it dont. How can i root my device using a different method then SOC?
Is there anything I can do?
I dont want to start all over again installing soft and games as it took me lot of time to get the SD files for the games I have.
Any advise to root before going to ODIN as a last option?
Thanks guys

SuperOneClick is the easiest way to root on 2.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Plug in the phone, click root.
Couldn't be much easier.
Myself and a couple of others lost haptic feedback and the back button after doing that, but a simple reboot fixes that for good.

This.
I didn't lose haptic but it is much less intense after the update. It was faint before I rooted and it didn't change after rooting.
So the rage version of the root works. My only question is, why does TITANIUM BACKUP think that I am NOT rooted. I also tried reinstalling SU from the market and TI is still saying Root access: FAILED.
You could just flash masters 2.2.7.1 and flash KA7 mobem, you get a great rom with root and great battery life this is what I would do save some time.

I have the same problem but its not that titanium doesn't find root rights it is because busybox now says it needs 1000kb to reinstall and titanium will not light up without it....My wifes phone is exactly the same way...KA7 through Odin then Super one click root??
i took a hammer and i hammered the root in it tellin the phone im the man , try but watch out it might brick

Probably Odin or maybe flash it using your phones download mode.....find the Rom and its posted forums and read them sir. Little more in depth than rooting.
Vibrant 2.2 Froyo (ka7) root and unlocked
Garminfone leaked 2.1 root unlocked 68 hours unplugged with 7% left.......unreal!!!
I recently updated, using the files retrieved from this site, my rooted Bravo to 2.2.
Everyone posted saying it would unroot it in the process, however superuser is still there, and I cannot use it, get rid of it, or even reroot my phone. I need help :/

all you need to do is run superoneclick, choose psneuter and root it again. it disables the su binary when updated.

I tried, but then when I try using any program that requires root access, it can't find it. Rootexplorer, setCPU, and even your overclock app won't work.
Also, z4root won't even root/unroot. Crashes every time.
did you reboot after running s1c? I know I always forget to.
Latest update is out in the wild: 3.8.7.XT610. Info here

I saw a post by Android wizard extraordinaire, CellZealot, over at MyDroidForums, who claims :
"... it supports root and is an excellent build. It also supports using the band unlock and GSM performance is far superior to the previous radio firmware. Overall this build is incredibly stable and without question the best build yet for this phone."
That's good enough for me.
Has anyone received this OTA yet? Nothing yet for my two in NY (one rooted, one not).

Does this update require that I unroot my phone prior to it?
Could any person who has received the update upload it somewhere, please? I cannot wait to update my phone and root it again. I have tried to update it but it keeps telling me I have the latest software version.
Scanned the net and no one has posted the update...hopefully someone here will soon
nottin in new jersey checked on moto droid pro system update whats up with this enyone got this update runnin thankssss
There was a renewal. Loading ...
:-(
Was rooted. Installed OTA update without problems. Then applications like Titanium Backup can not longer get root privileges. Ran Z4Root to Permanent Root again, it crashes and leaves phone unstable, most of the time freezing a few seconds later and I have to remove battery :-(

I second that!! Bloody takes them ages this time ... wonder why the holdup with some devices?? Its not like theres a million of Droid Pros out there ...
OK, so I can also root with SuperOneClick 1.7 after the update, but the apps like Titanium still can't get root from the SuperUser app. adb shell su also gets Permission denied (after reboot). Any hints?
Edit: problems solved by using aRoot. My conclusion: run aRoot post-update, not z4root nor SuperOneClick.
I lost root after the update and tried Z4Root with no results. SuperOneClick worked after I tried both root methods and rebooted the phone.
I am using AntTek App Manager to remove bloat without any issue. The phone seems more responsive and I have not had any random reboot until now.
Yep - aroot after the update worked. Re-froze the junk via Titanium and my Pro is running well.
For those like me who didn't know how to use aRoot:
Quoted from designgears
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=981866
http://ponack.net/designgears/atrix/aRoot/
"How to use:
note: xp users, you will get an error about the TIMEOUT function, ignore it.
Enable USB Debugging on your phone (settings > applications > development > enable USB debugging)
Plug your phone into your computer
Extract aRoot.7z
Run aRoot.bat (run unRoot.bat to unroot)"
Ok, so I ran the superoneclick and it says it was successful and I have superuser on my phone but if I try to use any root programs like titanium backup it says I'm not rooted, any suggestions?
Super oneclick only gives you temporary root, so after you reboot you loose root. On most phones it gives you permanent root but the way the kernel is designed on the intercept it doesn't work. There is an app in the intercept 2.2 development thread at sdx-developers that gives you permanent root and flashes cm recovery to allow you to flash zips to install mods roms and themes!!easy to use!!

Would highly recommend you click over to the dev section - link posted that will give you perma root. Quite simple to do.

I was wondering why my Intercept wasn't holding root... one thing about that app: you have to change the .ch (or is it .sh) files to use stl5. They're written for stl9.
Also, I've used this app about 50 times on my Intercept and it's not working. Its just adding more files to my phone, causing it to slow down more. If it doesn't work and you want a break, use adb shell to delete the files added. I tried using SuperOneClick in combination with the SDX app and that didn't work either. My suggestion is to use SuperOneClick for temp root and flash a rooted kernel and ROM, which is what I'm going to do at some point.

Hmmmm sounds like you are making things more complex then they actually are - took me about 5 seconds to gain perma root without any file name changes.

That's me! I did that with my Wii also lol!
The OneClickRoot program just isn't working for me. I only mentioned the stl5 thing because someone else mentioned it in the SDX thread hosting this program, figured I'd mention it because it's several posts in. I changed mine because SuperOneClick said my mount point was /.../.../stl5 (the ...s are directories I don't remember).
[EDIT] Instead of doing all that, try the post below me. if that doesn't work, just break it down and do it manually... Flash a rooted kernel, then recovery, make your backups, then flash custom roms. I was using all stock when I first wrote the post, but now I'm using SlapKernel, bROM, and CM01 recovery. I WAS making it too complicated lol!

So strange. Try this: worked for me, all you need to do is check allow non market programs in your settings, download and install this apk - run it and gain perm root. Does this work for you?

yes that may work

damn glad you got it running - you are further then me now on my Intercept - all I have is root so I can use my 3g as a wifi hotspot for my Acer Iconia a500 tablet need to look into custom roms for the intercept, the Virgin Mobile stock 2.2 is so slow :-(
Stock is somewhat slow. Make sure you read the directions though with rom flashing. I messed up my phone for a few hours from not doing the steps correctly with a certain rom. All sorts of fun! I flashed a rooted stock kernel from sdx, as well as stock rom (idk if roms are rooted? Its depends on the kernel right? Ill google it...) and a kernel package that has some tweaks to the stock (or any) kernel. I gotta say, adding Zeam launcher to a rooted and tweaked stock is running quite well for me.
