Anyone else experiencing slownes issues after downloading the update and battery pulling? I am having a solid delay coming back to the homescreen where the screen is completely unresponsive for a few moments (1 to 5 seconds, yes 5 seconds). It also occurs when browsing with the stock browser. I woul say the browser delay isn't as bad as the homescren issue but they both occur constantly and after waiting so long to get Froyo only for this result I'm tempted to go back to 2.1 if only because I'm comfortable with it.
Most importantly, anyone know a fix or have any tips to speed up my phone? I dnt have it modded or rooted because I don't care to tamper with my device but i'd be willing to try if I can gain significant performance increases
Try odining back to di18 and reapplying the update

That's not right, the latest Froyo is pretty snappy. Perhaps something you installed is causing this. Sometimes an app that works fine on Eclair needs to be reinstalled to work in Froyo. You could try a factory reset, but you will lose all your data and will have to reinstall apps. Or you could selectively delete your apps until you find the one that's causing the problem.
Here is a thought if we Odin to DI18 will we get the Updat to EC05.
Try clearing the data to all of the launchers on the phone. The last time I experienced a similar problem it wound up being launcher pro was having difficulties with some bad data.

Had the same issue. Did a "hard reset" and reinstalled all my apps manually. This improved things greatly.

Sounds right. I just manually updated after ODIN though.

Hey everyone, Picked up a Vibrant last night, but ive run into an interesting issue.
The market is SOOO laggy. It takes up to 30 seconds to go between the main Market screen and the download screen (without any spinner). No data is going up or down, during that process. Also, when downloading\installing an app...it takes another 30 seconds or so after I hit install for the Okay or cancel options to come up (they came up instantly on my G1).
I cleared all my market cache, market downloader, etc and I am rooted.
Anyone w/ a suggestion or advice. This market issue is really a deal killer, as it takes like 5 minutes to install an app, let alone do several updates.
Thanks!
Seriously.....no one is having issues w/ the market lagging hardcore?
No issues here.

Not this bad, no.. but it does spend too much time on the loading page.
I noticed that too. it was on my Nexus too, I thought there was something wrong with the ROM, but now its on Vibrant as well. It was never this bad about a month ago.....
Same issue here, at first it was really, really bad and I had some other general lagginess. I did a factory reset and that seemed to help. It still has lag when compared to my MT3G Slide, but it definitely improved. I read somewhere that a lot of this lag is caused by the way the memory partitions are set up. Not sure about that though. Hopefully a firmware update with fix a lot of these issues. Fingers crossed.

Well maybe its not unique to the vibrant?

I believe this has a lot to do with the stalling issue that was reported before. I did experience the market lagginess you're talking about, but its gone now after applying the app data storage fix. This fix is a temporary solution until Samsung has something official.
Link: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=727279
(Sorry I couldn't post the full link because the moderator won't allow new users to post a link)
Interestingly enough, I attempted to isolate this issue, and I found it doesnt happen on a non-rooted phone, but as soon as I root it, the issue reoccurs. Very strange, considering rooting this phone does very little to it. Anyone w/ similar results? I will try the app data fix until Samsung makes something official, but at this point, the market is barely usable. I am even considering returning the phone if I cant get the results improved before the 30day grace period is up (although I really dont want to...this phone is great otherwise)
I also noticed that downloads never finish according to the market, they say "installing" indefinently, even though a "app was successfully installed" notification appeared, and the app can be run.
I have not had this issue on my vibrant, however on 3g it does take alot long to load as expected i guess, but I have not experience what you are, my vibrant is rooted as well and i have not applied the stall fix
I've noticed a little lag with the market right before I got my Vibrant using my Nexus One.
Well, glad others are having similar issues and its not just me. I am using WiFi to ensure 3g isnt causing the lag, and Ive completely wiped everything in order to try and diagnose this issue. Please post any suggestions or tips you have found helpful, thanks!

I have had lagging issues, but not in the Market and certainly not as bad as you. I finally just rooted and applied the fix to move apps to NAND and my lagging issues have subsided a lot. Just wanted to let you know that I have had no Market lagging issues at all - rooted or unrooted.
Ok, so stock Vibrant "lag". What does this mean, precisely? I'm a rooted but otherwise stock JI6, and I don't see any lag anywhere on the phone.
If I were to be experiencing this lag, what would it look like?

Get Xscope V5 (V6 is buggy) browser for free x-labs.net and use it for a day or two. Notice how slow it loads webpages sometimes. Or try Miui Browser (not in market) GUI lags a little too
The LAG that most people are talking about is when you switch windows or open a new app. Sometimes when doing this, the phone will seem to freeze for a moment before going to the new app or page.
With Voodoo lagfix, I have not seen this happen once, where with stock it happened all the time.
If you have rooted your phone and gone down the mod rabbit hole, lagfix is well worth it.
I installed a LagFix recently like I did months ago and saw no huge change in performance (barely any change really) This "lag" problem is about as overblown as it could be. Firefox runs as smoothly as it can (it's not that smooth, beta and needs 40MB of ram on my phone. JFD firmware was did have some lag issues though that we're a problem. Some serious lag was solved by a factory reset or by reloading the OS. The lagfix isn't worth the reduced app space or lesser reliability. If you have no problems with how your phone is running, don't bother with any hacks like that.
Some people randomly got major lag when updating from JFD to JI6. A data wipe solves it.. and they couldn't be happier.
The 'lag' that you see people complaining about does not happen on all phones, all the time.
And I need to remind you to be careful about installing any lagfix. Read up on what it does and how it may affect your phone BEFORE installing it.

Agreed, you might think the phone is fast now but when you install the lag fix you'll definately notice a difference.
It amazed me when I had to go back to stock (after soft bricking my phone) and I had to install rom manager from the market while everything was stock and it was crazy how slow it was.

Am interested in seeing said video.
Here is a video I took a while back. I'd be interested in seeing the lag. I know someone with a DROID X, behavior is exactly the same when opening apps. It was the same when I installed the lag fix.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl1Q2qlRNwE
I'm on stock JI6, non-rooted.
I think what I'm experiencing is considered lag.
It doesn't happen all the time but it is annoying when it does.
Sometimes it'll take 10 seconds for an app to launch.
It's especially bad if I have more than a couple of apps going at the same time.
Some of this can be worked around, keeping as few apps going as possible. I don't use a task killer, I just back out of apps instead of switching home and keeping the app in memory.
There are certain apps where it seems to be worse in.
The Facebook app is horrible to the point where I don't use it but I'm not sure if that's the app or the phone. I can't scroll a page without the phone locking up for 3-4 seconds. Clicking on anything takes about 3-5 seconds for it to register.
I'm pretty disappointed in Samsung in general with their software. The hardware is great, the software just sucks.
One of these days I'll get around to installing another ROM.

You obviously have something else going on here.. Facebook runs with no problems on my phone. If you flash another rom everything will be wiped, just the same as what I said above. The FB app taking 10 seconds to load and locking up the phone is NOT normal behavior.

I think you're right. It doesn't make sense that facebook would be so bad.
Everything else is pretty much okay.
I think I'm going to try one of the other ROMs. Just need to find some time.
Also, I'm dreading having to go through the whole process of reinstalling and reconfiguring everything. I might have to try titanium backup so that I don't have to do that.
Why is it that the browser on dk28 still shows checker boarding pinching and zooming? Wasn't that supposed to be fixed? It never does this on 2.1. Also, the notification drop down isn't as smooth as it was on 2.1. The frame rate is not as high when pulling it down and pushing it back up. Another thing is that the auto rotation lag is still present as well.
I haven't tested multitasking yet but on dk17 it was horrible cause the os killed apps that were in the background way too frequently and too fast. I couldn't leave the browser for more then about a minute before it was killed and it then has to reload the page I was last on upon entering the browser app. I'm hoping that dk28 has corrected this, I never had this issue on 2.1.
I still love this phone but want it to perform as it ought to. I'm kind of hoping this isn't the final build cause it still has issues...
Its not even the real release yet. Dk28 was only pushed to .4 phones not .5 so it may be different when it is pushed OTA to the rest of the epic phones.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I'm hoping so. I just went and ran a quadrant benchmark real quick and this browsing session was ended prematurely by the os. So the multitasking management still sucks. It's so bad in fact that you can't even leave navigation while using it to take you somewhere. If you do, it will be killed and you will hear "gps signal lost". Happened to me yesterday. Sigh...
Please post questions in the General Section. Thank you

How is this possible?? Did you upgraded to DK28 using Clockwork or odin?
I used clockwork to flash mine..
My guess is they will release this rom..its impossible for something to be 100% bug free..overall I'd say this rom is fairly stable :/
Returned to stock DI18 yesterday after experiencing glaring issues within less than one day of using EB13. That's a testament to how bad it is. EB13 is definitely not ready for prime time and must've been rushed out with glaringly known issues to appease the public with a 2.2 release. The stability, functionality and feature loss are not worth whatever minor gains in EB13 Froyo 2.2 such as bluetooth voice dialing, in-browser Flash support, etc. For now DI18 is the way to go for stability (record 600+ hours uptime before forced reboot) and for the most part everything work or have work around. Froyo 2.2 update is a failure for Sprint in comparison to T-Mobile Vibrant because theirs actually made improvements and resolve issues.
Method of upgrade was ODIN to stock DI18, run Samsung update for EB13, boot into recover mode, cleared cache and applied factory defaults.
EB13 issues found within a short time span and was concerned what else might surface:
- Instability, phone shut down when clicking on a link in browser
- Video camera live view and recording lag. I use the video camera every day so it was glaringly obvious.
- Graphical glitch in browser when dragging page where a block of the page is offset. This is glaringly obvious too and surprised it got by QA.
- Samsung update hung towards the end on second flash, good thing for old reliable stand-alone ODIN
You should try ODINing to EB13 rather than the Samsung method, most users so far have had a nearly flawless EB13 experience
I think it really depends on the exact methods people are using to upgrade. I haven't had any glaring issues, just some small things that existed on the stock 2.1, like weird button miss presses, some keyboard lag. Just waiting for a good EB13 rom before I say anything is defunct.
I wouldnt go all the way back to eclair....try if u don't like eb13 use dk28 I haven't gone to eb 13 but if I don't like how eb13 rides im going to dk28 especially now with a OC kernal

If I only had one Epic, I would stay on di18, or a custom ROM based on di18. Since I have 2 Epics, one will stay on di18 and the other will continue to beta test Froyo ROMs. There is little progress between dk28 and EB13. Most of the bugs from dk28 still exist in the latest release. I really hope our devs here can clean this mess up.
Im sad to say. But I just did. The low fps on low light video recording killed EB13 for me. Useless since I go out and do pegan nightime rituals and record the clan meeting. Now instead of having awesome night time videos off me wearing my long night hooded warlock trechcoat, it looks like a disaster video of blurr. How can I continue my rituals with this shat samsung!? Foorrrr shaaaammme!
At first I went back to a rooted/customized DI18. Unfortunately, the damn system update message kept popping up saying that an update was available and needed to install. I eventually got sick of the message and flashed the phone to Froyo using Odin. What do I have to remove to prevent the system update from trying to update my rooted phone?

You can delete the system updater.apk in the system/app directory. This will prevent your phone from downloading and prompting you to update.

Color me lucky?
Used Samsung method after returning to stock. Battery, GPS et al rock solid on EB13. Enjoyed Bonsai, but am now "in the groove" - custom ROM had some nice details, but gaps as well. EB13 is a hi function 4G smarter phone for me!
I did. After the latest issue of losing 4G for 2 days straight I reinstalled eb13 and nothing. I went back to DI18 and 4G came right up, what a shocker.
EDIT: I'm running on midnight ROM eb13 4.0 and with the new wired tether apk posted in the themes and apps area, my phone is running flawlessly! I just had to correct this post.

I went back. I record videos all the time and that's what killed it for me. Even in still-camera mode the pictures look almost pastel, hate it.
I'll be going back to Eclair. I really didn't like anything froyo had to offer besides the updated youtube app (if I can't get that on 2.1) and flash support.
I just got froyo this morning OTA, went to class, came home and flashed it again hoping to fix my main problems. Didn't work. I just got done wiping my phone, flashing DI18, reboot, flashing EB13, and still it's still messed up.
I really don't care about the camcorder deal because I don't use it often but the laggy sleep/wake and no auto correct are really annoying for me. I only use my epic for browsing here and there and mainly texting/music. Now the audio sounds bad and on top of that my dictionary vanished. I don't even know if anyone else is having this problem because no one seems to say anything about it. Not to mention they changed the call log (the little phone button) and you can't toggle through ringtone volume>vibrate>silent any more with the volume buttons.
Gonna go back to DI18, root, remove system updater(thanks for that tip^), fix the yamaha calibutil thing, and sit happily while I wait for a stable(r) release. What a pain.

Well, I'm done messing with this phone. It has been in a desk drawer for 2 months waiting for an upgrade. Now that it officially has Froyo, I can advertise it as such and sell it on eBay. It's back to the EVO for me until my contract renewal comes up. From there, who knows. I loved the screen but hate the bugs!

Buy another phone.....preferably one not made by Samsung.
eb13 was anything but rushed lol
This is pretty sad. All of the people in this forum griped and moaned and yelled about not having froyo, now that they got it they dont want it. Bunch of kids
Now I dont profess to be an expert, but the low light thing is there, it is a bug and im sure they will fix it. is it a deal breaker? OMG no it isnt.
I see many threads mentioning that they have a delay when rotating (fixed by calibration) but I do not have that issue.
My phone rotates quickly but it seems to take up to 15 seconds to refresh the icons on the screen in the new view.
Is this something unique to my device or is anyone else having issues? This began with DK28 and continued with EB13. Stock for both as well as with a ROM on DK28.
It may be app related, but with everything on my phone, it'll take more time to troubleshoot one by one than I have right now. That'll have to wait a few days, so until then, I'm just seeking general information/commiseration.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
Me.
I loaded eb13 from samsungs site, which of course wiped my phone, and I have the exact same issue. Very frustrating.
