Hi, congratulations for this forum!!!

Thank´s

Edit: 10morechars
looks like you have to downgrade, root, then upgrade again. Don't install OTA updates after you root.
OK, but my problem is I don´t have downgrade with version 1.82
Hi, still is not possible root in Z with version 1.82?

What he was trying to tell you is that you need to downgrade your firmware. It is currently not possible to have root while running 1.82
I know, but is possible downgrade to 1.34 from 1.82?
Thank´s
Yeah that's possible and works fine have done it with mine too.
There's a threat under android development that says downgrade from 1.72 to 1.34 that works.
Edit: here is the link to the guide is used. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261
I can´t. My version base band is 26.04.02.17_m2
Is possible?
Thank´s
I think the official RUU flashes both the ROM and the radio/base band (that is why the radio number is in the file name), so it doesn't matter what your present radio is.
But somebody else here can confirm, I bet.
then do not understand why it does not work, I followed all the posts there and not get anything. # but it becomes $ restart
I'm doing wrong?

Hi,
I've just updated my Legend to the 2.03.403 version. So far i noticed that there's a new version of the quickoffice, improved performance and battery. Most Important multi-touch (pinch zoom)for Google maps!Has anybody figured out any new / additional feature beside what i mentioned ?
Without a garantueed method to root this update or a pre-rooted version I won't touch this even with a ten-foot pole.
Just convert your sdcard into goldcard. That's it. Launch the official RUU file...install it... and you're ready!
No, I was not talking about "How can I do this" but about the implications of that update.
There is no root-version of it for now, or is there?
The version is unrooted. Nothing will be rooted. You're using an original version with no changes... should be totally fine.
If you flash this to your rooted phone, you loose the rooting..
I didn't have rooted it. Just goldcard. And yes you loose the root.
this new firmare is out from today? WHere can I read my firmware version to check what version I have?

No OTA for now, you have to flash this like a normal rom, but you might need a Goldcard.
So:
Create Goldcard (It's somewhere on this forum)
Put the Goldcard in your phone
Turn on the phone
Connect your phone to your pc
Run the RUU from your pc and follow the steps
It should flash the new rom, but remember that you'll loose root!
If you haven't rooted, there is no problem
One change I've noticed is that I can now use the map background from Terra Time - it would not work before.
Now that I have installed this update does it mean that I can no longer root my phone?
Another change - I can now open up the full youtube site when tethered instead of getting palmed off to the mobile site.
Hi, Can anyone tell me if the new firmware has Cyrillic keyboard?

It has Russian keyboard, but it is hidden (at least, on my phone).
I had to set my locale to Russian with MoreLocale. This switches the entire UI to Russian unfortunately, but enables Russian in HTC IME.
Same was true for my original 1.xx ROM.
...
just updated on ger unbranded legend with win7 pro 64 bit without any problem... now testing ;-) ...
Is there swedish language included in this?
Is this ROM have English lang available on it? I bought my legend from india (1.32).
Will i be able to get OTA updates from HTC after flashing this ROM? I guess i ll also lose my warranty?
Please tell me as i want to flash this ROM desparately.
Hello guys, I'm having a couple of issues with my GSM Hero...and i have several doubts...if you can help me i will be most thankful.
#1 - how to enter recovery mode on my GSM Hero ? i press home+power and the triangle comes up, after that...nothing... shouldn't there be some options ?
#2 - can i load the official 2.1 European update without being by FOTA (don't forget i don't have root please!)
#3 - is there any RUU .exe with the official 2.1 European update?
#4 - I've flashed my European GSM Hero from 2.73.405.5 to the Taiwanese Chunghwa 3.31.751.1 to get 2.1 and it worked. Now I wish to go to WWE versions and it gives me error 141 incorrect id or something like that, how can i revert back to WWE?
I'm sorry for so many questions, but I don't know what else to do, the phone is unrooted and working perfectly with the 2.1 chungwa version, but since 2.1 has came out in Europe,I wan't to install the European version of it ans replace the Asian.
I've google it in every forum i could found so far on android devices, I've done several attempts, I've red like hell but no results so far. Any help is highly appreciated.
Sorry for my English, I'm from Portugal.
Bom dia casca, penso que o caminho a seguir é fazer downgrade para a versão RUU HTC Generic 2.73.405.5 e a partir dai deixar actualizar por FOTA ou por rom 2.1 com root...
Mais ajuda ? vai ao site androidpt
Wasup! i've been already on androidpt also and haven't seen anything about this.
the problem is I'm not able to load 2.73.405.5 again due to an error 140/141 that says something like bootloader error or id error, something like that...
you've got PM
i don't understand how it works for all of your Gsm Hero users, but...
Solution to question 1
for me to enter the recovery on the Hero I had to press vol.down+power, choose recovery, and when in "triangle mode" (lol) vol.up + power. that way I can use the android system recovery and apply an update.zip from the sdcard.
Solution to question 2
I think so. Will certainly report back to avoid that others have to suffer like I did to find the answer (you have no idea of the time I've spent on the last days reading forums for a simple thing like question 1...no one even cared to reply or say "hey, try this") I know a lot of people done the same thing I did with the hurry of seeing 2.1 on their Hero's.
Solution to question 3
Not yet, and probably won't be.
Solution to question 4
I will let you know. I will use the official update.zip that can be found here on XDA, with the android system recovery and give it a go.
Regards to you all.
You will have to downgrade first, possible chance you need to use the goldcard method. Once you have downgraded you can eitha get the update via OTA or apply one of the WWE update.zip ROMS via recovery.
I had to use the goldcard method to go from WWE 2.73.405.5 RUU to Chunghwa 3.31.(something)(their 2.1 official)
but to downgrade back to 2.73.405.5 even with the goldcard, it doesn't work for me.
It always gave incorrect bootloader or something like that even with the goldcard.
Thanks for your reply!

yes I can, no problem with that since I now figured it out what is the correct key combinations...so simple and yet so hard to find...
Did you try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559613
I am not sure, but I think it can help you downgrade and then you can install the new update (or better yet just use it to flash a rooted ROM based on the official version...).
Tks,tried it already but flashrec doesn't work with that rom
Sorry, you flashed the Chungwa 2.1 so now cannot install this one. You were warned...
You cannot downgrade as the RUU updates misc with your main version, OTA doesn't.
Just wait patiently for an RUU of the WWE 2.1

It will come out eventually.
The first update was only to get your recovery ready for the update.
I confirm, even through recovery it didn't work. When doing the apply sd card update.zip through recovery, it gives installation aborted after a while....Do you think i should make a Goldcard and try again with the same method?
another question...where should i be looking for the RUU file for the WWE 2.1?

Hi,
I am from India and bought an HTC Legend with HBoot version 0.43.xxxx. I want to root my device. I have checked all the methods and everywhere, it says that I need a s/w version 1.31.xxx.x.
However, my s/w version is 1.32.720.3 after applying an update from HTC. Even before the update, it was in the range of 1.32.xxx.x. Does that mean I can never root?
Some users in another thread have suggested that those with this problem should get a WWE ROM from somewhere and flash with it to get s/w version 1.31.xxx.x. How to downgrade to a lower s/w version? I could not find any reference on that!
Please help. Can one of you come up with a tutorial for flashing HTC Legend with s/w version 1.32.xxx.x. This has become a much needed tutorial. There are so many people looking for it and it can be found nowhere! Please please help!
As far as I know you need to have root to install an older rom, which defeats the purpose.
Users with software version 2.03 are in the same boat. We just have to wait it out until someone can do it.
Although the update for the HTC legend is available and many have successfully updated their phone to version 2.05.405.2. I did not get this update!
I have contacted HTC support and they said:
"Dear Mr.Mrdja Thank you for contacting HTC. Kindly note that your device is up to date and there is no other ROM update available for the moment. Please check our website periodically and search for the latest updates. If you have any other inquiries , do not hesitate to contact us again. Please note that you can contact us via support line For further details, please go to http://www.htc.com/europe/CA_Hotline.aspx Thank you so much for using HTC products . If it was branded! Unless I am mistaking?
If it's rooted, flashing an OTA would remove the root and then becomes more complicated to get it back (needs to downgrade back that 1.31 again)
So you may just want to flash it yourself with recovery/ClockWorkMod

same here, guys. Any solution? I have no OTA for 1.31.405.5 CL154058 release-keys ...

2.10 is a Vodafone AU rom
1.31.405.5 is a WWE rom
Somehow, there's no upgrade path to get to 2.03.405.3
Kwen, thanks for the information.
I've contacted with HTC support and this is what they say:
Kindly be informed that the latest update released for your handset is the 1.31.X version, for the time being, there're no further upgrades for your handset, please note that the HTC Legend is one of the devices that received the Android 2.2 upgrade, however, for the time being, there's no information regarding its date of release.
Please note that the update will initially roll out to unlocked HTC Desire handsets. Operator specific versions of the update are undergoing testing and we expect to make them available in several weeks’ time.”

I don't see the point of the branded devices getting updates that stock free devices don't get... very strange: I thought that first an official OTA update comes out and then each company modifies this update to put it's ****ty logos and shortcuts.
So... the latest WWE version is 2.03.405.3, but im still on 1.31.405.5 ... !!! WTF !??!
Is there a way to manually update my phone or something or some guide for RUU ... ?!
Froyo is on the way and i don't think i can get it without the latest update!!

For some reason there is no direct upgrade path from 1.31.405.5 to 2.03.405.3. The 2.03 RUU is here.
But at this point I have no idea which WWE versions they're going to release OTA updates for - because I'm assuming many people do not RUU their phones and are therefore still on 1.31 like you. Also some others are on the 2.05.405.2 ROM that was faulty and therefore that OTA update was pulled!
Thx dude !
hi guys,
I've done some research on this forum and found out (if I'm not mistaken) that HTC must have pulled the OTA update to 2.03 off their site because of the SMS bug. So basically there's no official (direct) way of updating from 1.31 to 2.03/2.05, if you want, you can still download the shipped one from shipped rom and flash it manually!
I'm considering waiting for froyo or updating my (rooted) 1.31 to (rooted) 2.03 though.

Why would you update to 2.03 instead of Froyo if your phone is already rooted? Check the Development section. There are several rooted Froyo ROMs out and you can still revert if you don't like it.
Wondering about 1.31.405.5 Froyo
Hello everyone,
I love this script on zubu.ca/legend/fota_check.php and I've lost the count on how many times I pressed F5 while on it, but still no luck for me.
I've got an HTC Legend (unbranded with carrier Vodafon). It's got build 1.31.405.5 (CL154058 RK) and according to the FOTA-checker there's no update available.
My question is basically: Why is there no update, and do I need another update before I get the Froyo update? I know HTC stated that every Legend will have Froyo by the 5th of december and it's not the 5th yet. But still, many Legends have it already and like I said I'm bad at waiting XD
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
Couldn't find if it was possible or not so I decided to just ask.
I got a Desire Z with 1.72 with S-Off, Perm Root etc.
So I was wondering if just flashing the official 1.34.405.5_PC10IMG.zip would let me flash everything back to stock(for example for warranty reasons).
Best regards,
Christian
Anyone?
From what I understand from some other threads this is just possible on 1.34 not on the OTA 1.72 or you have to change the version number before
right?
Once you have root it will flash, did it myself yesterday (was having data issues so started over at 1.34). If you are on 1.72 without root you have to follow along http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261

Yes, but you would still have to unroot your phone.
