I drop my Wifi connection on EC05 - Epic 4G General

I seem to drop my wifi connection on EC05 and can't reconnect unless I reboot. I never had tthis problem with any other OTA. :-(

Have you tried reflashing the modem with odin?

It is in the dev section. But if you updated using the ota file you already have the modem. What process did you use to upgrade? While it is a huge pain I prefer to start clean. I odin back to di18, backup and format sd card and update to ec05. So far everything, but checkerboarding in browser and flash audio on bluetooth neither of which I care about, is working great.

I'm having this same problem. I think it was there in EB13 as well, but looked fixed in EC05, but now I just can't connect to my wpa2 network, sometimes even after a reboot.
I think it goes like this:
1. connect to wifi network - works
2. turn off wifi (and go out of range of 1st network?)
3. return to first network
4. turn on wifi
5. can see network with wifi analyzer, but cannot connect. Wifi will see the network, state "Scanning", "connecting..." and then "Disconnected"
Used samsung exe to update to EB13 (full wipe, clean install), then OTA to EC05. EB13/EC05 have both been pure stock.

Well, now my 3g radio isn't working at all either (even after shutdown, remove battery for 5 mins, restart). I think I'm looking at either a hard reset, or flashing a rom...

I've never been able to keep a WiFi connection on either EB13 or EC05. It would connect for a while then give me some sort of error where I couldn't switch the WiFi on or off from the notification tray. Sometimes I could reset it from the settings or by going into Airplane mode.

I'm having a pretty similar problem. When I first boot up my phone wifi connects without a problem. However, the first time wifi is turned off I cannot get it to reconnect without completely restarting my phone. I've tried turning data off & resetting the radio but even after that it won't connect.

Frequent Disconnecting from WiFi?

Is anyone else having trouble with their WiFi dropping out all the time? My phone keeps dropping WiFi, dropping back to 3G. I have to keep going to settings and telling it to reconnect.
I have a Linksys WRT54GL running Tomato firmware. Most things can connect to it just fine, but my Dell Laptop from work gives me a BSOD when I try to connect it wirelessly.
Thoughts?
I think I figured it out. I upgraded my Tomato firmware on the router, and WiFi seems to be working much better.

Please post back if it acts up again. My wifi has stopped working a few times and I had to manually reset it. My problem was compounded because 3g seemed to be active but webpages would timeout and sync would fail. Really annoying.
no problems with my wifi but I turn off network data. Maybe that helps?

I have the same issue. My wi-fi goes down and keeps looping through "obtaining an IP address". Killed my battery last night trying to connect to wi-fi. I can't get it coinnected again until I reset my router. weird?
I don't know if I would classify it as constant, but the University wireless network disconnects after some period of inactivity. I'm not certain if it is due to the phone or the network.

It seems like it is still doing it, but I'm wondering if what it is actually doing now is disconnecting after a period of disuse, then reconnecting.
It seems like if I don't see the WiFi symbol, and I select Mail or the Browser, it will re-appear.
I have similar issues with WIFI. It seems having a hard time connecting or even seeing the signal at times, but other times it's fine. I have WIFI at home and at work, and many places I am so I use it all the time, and all of them I have set up (I'm a sys admin).
I have WiFi analizer loaded and at times it won't even see my netowrks when my laptop is already connected. If I reboot the phone it seems to fix it after a min or so. Sometimes turning WiFi off and on helps but not always.
It's really inconsistant... I'll go a few days with no problems, then it will have problems for a day or so. Open or encrypted don't seem to make a differance.

Tomato firmware, that sounds cute.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1040
Issue 1040: wifi does not timeout on idle
Issue that was in an earlier version of Android, and is back in 2.1.
When the phone sleeps, it turns off WiFi. Then, it won't turn it back on properly until you go to settings or sometimes WiFi settings. Then it just pops on automatically.
Yup, I got this problem too and its very annoying.
It usually happens when the phone has been sleeping for an extended period of time. Sometimes wifi disconnects and will not reconnect even when I'm in the middle of browsing the web.
i had this issue as well.... i went to settings/wireless and networks/wifi settings....then hit menu/advanced/wifi sleep policy.... i selected nver and haven't had a problem since
Problem is, "never" is already selected and issue still persists.
I had set it to 15 minutes to see if it fixed the problem, because I was having it when it was set to never. I'm setting it to never now to see if
the GUI just wasn't displaying the value that was set.

[Q] No Wi-Fi

Bought my Galaxy yesterday and it works fine but on one point. Yesterday I was able to find the home network of my friend in his house. I could connect to the internet with that as well as through 3g. But later at my place it does not work with any home network. When I try Settings, Wireless and network, Wi-Fi settings and Wi-Fi, the phone turns on Wi-Fi and scans for some seconds and the leaves a message that says "Unable to scan networks".
Maybe I have switched on or off something accidentally as I am a new user on this phone? Anyone for help?
turn off the phone
then turn it back on
in another words, reboot your phone, seems like it got stuck in some WiFi bug
It does not seem to help. I even took out the battery. Still unable to to scan
you can try this
*2767*3855# WARNING! FACTORY DATA WIPE AND RESET as soon as you enter the last # use it only if you want to clean wipe your phone

I really don't want that as long as I also cannot backup the video in it. Have not got the Kies program to recognize the phone yet.
Maybe there is another way to set the scan possibility?

you don't need kies
see the last secret code?
It defaults to User space. I do not yet have any extra Micro SD card. Is it that what means with User space?
Tried that last command and do have at least one file of each in the folders, but the phone answers for each of them that the files are not ready? What else is there to be done?
Had same problem, tried factory reset... didn't solve it. any ideas? it can't get an ip address and it used to work
probably the next best thing is to use Odin to reflash the modem file to the phone
or a full flash to the latest firmware
Same problem appeared on my SGS. Boy this sucks. The wifi became "hard" to connect sometimes. Or I could connect but had no internet access. Then I disconnect and connect several times to have net access.
One hour ago the wifi died. I turn it on it says "Unable to search for networks" and shuts itself off.
WTF. I have to reflash!!!! Not good. Also I don't know what caused this. I'm on JM2 with One Click Lag fix 2.1
one thing is for sure, the STOCK rom has no problem with that
so it is either a Router thing, or a firmware specific problem

JM2 isn't a final release firmware. Realistically, if you want everything (well, other than GPS) to "just work", stick to official firmware.
Well, I for one, have only the the official firmware and it is the latest one what I have learned. Still the phone behaves as in my original post after just a couple of hours. Is this and other peoples beautiful Samsung Galaxy model not tested enough by Samsung? Has anyone more information than we have?

I agree thats Help me. or you can try upload update.zip (file to make root) on your device and flash that can help too.
Hi all! Thank you for your inputs to my problem. I have now got it working. For those who are interested how, I can tell you that I only did a simple Factory Reset command.
problem solved!
I had the same problem.
I was trying to configure a invisible ssid and by distraction I created a normal WPA 2 network, ending up with two networks with the same ssid (when I was turning off the wifi, it wouldn't go off at the first try, weird, )
Solution:
Edit the "/data/wifi/bcm_supp.conf" (with root permission) and eliminate the duplicated network, problem solved! At least in my case (no need for factory reset )

Mobile Hotspot issues

Having weird issue with mobile hotspot:
1. Turn it On and it turns on fine
2. Connect using computer - connected fine
3. Can use it for around 30 seconds, then computer goes to limited access
4. Try turning it off - gives error
Any idea?
I thought it may be because I put custom kernel/Rom, etc but now I have reverted back to Indian KF3 Rom using Odin, still same issue.
I have tried it with both the wap.cingular APN and with the mmsc.cingular APN and still same.
I get that problem when I newly connect an android device to my laptop. Maybe you didn't define where the network is in Win7. It usually asks if it's home, work or public. Until you set that it usually shows limited access.

I get the exact same behaviour as you. I'm using the factory KF3 ROM, never rooted or installed custom ROMs.
Did you find a solution?
As someone else said have you both selected what sort of connection it is? (Home, Work, Public)
Has your phone got full, or near full charge? Has your phone got a good, solid internet connection?

Wifi Not Working Correctly?

I tried searching and I have not found a solution yet. I'm running SHOstock-I with ktoonz kernel on android 4.4.2.
For some reason, my Wifi randomly disconnects from any currently connected wifi network. The first thing I try to do is to connect back to the wifi network (any available network), but it simply tries and says "Connection Failed". Next, I try to disable the wifi connectivity alltogether, but after I tap the toggle button it becomes "greyed-out" and I can't toggle it.. it just hangs. If I go back a step and then select wifi again, then I can try to disable it but the same thing just happens again.
If I reboot, then wifi works again.
Oddly enough, if I enable/disable teathering, then wifi starts to work again.
It seems I can't run Wifi for more than an hour without this issue happening. It seems to have just started doing this out of the blue. I suspect a full wipe would solve the issue but I'd rather not do that unless I have to. It usually takes me a while to get things back to normal after a wipe.
Any ideas?
Some solved the problem by unInstalling the Smart Wifi utility (for ATT and maybe other carriers too).

Thanks, but I don't have that app installed. I am positive this is not a router issue as well.
Everytime I wipe cache/delvik then the issue doesn't occur for a few days, which I think is odd. I also tried different kernels and the problem persisted.
Does anyone know if it's possible to confirm if this is a hardware issue? I doubt it...

It is a good idea to turn off any 'connection optimizer' or 'wifi optimizer' application or setting, in short anything that decides what connection is selected based on available connections should be turned off. The most probable reason for the problem is badly programmed software.

Serious WiFI Issues

Hoping someone can help me
My S7 Edge WiFI connection is playing up. My phone is fine on data network but only when connected on WiFi (Have tried other networks too) it has some serious problems like,
- Whatsapp notifications not received unless I switch to data connection or open the app
- Trouble loading internet applications, they just hang randomly but if I switch to data then they load
I first noticed this when I switched over to SuperManROM, however I have since reflashed the previous ROM I was using and still have the same issues. I've tried custom kernels and stock kernels and no difference.
Is it simply a faulty WiFI chip in the S7 Edge or coudl it be something software related? An important point to mention is that for the SuperManROM I had to update the bootloader and Modem, but I did downgrade them again to see if there was any change
Please help
Having the same issues. Tried multiple Wifi networks, same issue. Shows I'm connected to it, but no throughput. Tested the same networks on my laptop with no issues.
I'm using SuperSU.
This happens to me too, but only when I enable power saving mode, could that be your issue?

Well I thought it fixed it, but it doesn't look like it did. Rebooting the phone to see if that helps
Update: even after a reboot no luck.
On cell data no issues. As soon as I connect to Wifi, I lose it.
Update 2: Had a system update available. Tried to install it, and after the phone rebooted it told me the update failed, but the Wifi works okay for the moment. Honestly no clue.
You guys got any VPN profiles installed or anything?
