[SOLVED] removing sense-tabs - dependencies - Windows Mobile

i'm cooking latest oboe-manila and want to leave out tabs i never use:
- internet
- music
- stocks
- twitter
reg-settings and manila-file were edited correctly, yet sense fails to boot. if i cook them in, no problem.
so there must be a dependancy (like settings - home) with one of them. thinking about it, i'm also not sure if leaving audiomanager in did it (music-tab).
does this ring a bell by any of you guys?
otherwise i'll test it out one-by-one, but that has to wait until the weekend.

SOLVED:
non-booting manila was caused by co0kie's hometab 2.0 if music-tab isn't cooked in.

Stocks and Twitter should not hurt, as OBOE dies not have those tabs in shipped ROMs AFAIK. At least the ones I disassebled

Try removing one tab at a time, this will give you a better idea which one is causing the problem. A while back I was doing the same thing and I am pretty sure that removing the music tab was the culprit.

Have you edit 26948339_manila file and remove those tab entries? If you did, make sure you dont have a second 26948339_manila file somewhere in your kitchen overwriting the 1st and edited one.

jap, figured that twitter and stocks should play no role, as they're not included in all stock-roms. so it's music or internet (-> bookmarks as quicklink on hometab?)
testing will have to wait until saturday, i was just trying to be cheesy and see if someone would pop up and say "it's this one causing it", hehe... not that it's a big deal to test, i'm just impatient.
ps: i guess if it's music, i'll have to test with and without co0kie's as well. (player-widget)

what about the initflashfiles.dat, did you removed those tabs related entries too?

alright, got it.
dotcompt was right, removing those tabs doesn't cause troubles with stock-manila.
my troubles were caused by co0kie's hometab 2.0, it depends on music-tab. dunno if it's looking just for one file or if it needs all the control-buttons from music as well (play, stop, etc.) -> music-widget.
internet-tab can be removed safely.

That makes sense as to why I had trouble when removing the music tab, I always cook CHT. I'm glad you got everything going

jap, it makes sense.
what doesn't make sense is that i didn't think about it first.
btw, i wouldn't be surprised if removing message- and mail-tab would cause the same in conjunction with co0kie's. there are widgets for those as well. but it's too late here to test them too. ^^

What do i need to do for removing the footprint?
I never use footprint on my HD2. I keep the tab unchecked in tab settings..

Just leave the package out of the ROM und edit the registry files and 26948339_manila file correctly (i.e. removing the values for that tab)

Which registries?

You need to open the Manila file with a text editor and remove the Footprints entries.
The 'Page Order' you need to modify to follow the sequence (1,2,3,4 etc...)
You also need to edit the initflashfiles.dat and remove Footprints from there.
I don't think you need to edit the registry, at least not that I know.
The registry is already removed if you remove the packages.
<Page Order="11" Name="footprints.page" PackageName="HTC" Title="[[IDS_FOOTPRINTS_TITLE]]">
<ComponentReference Name="page" Mode9Path="HTC\Footprints\footprints.mode9" Component="GizmoRoot" SmartComponent="true"/>

Yeah, but I thought (and might simply be wrong) that the order of the Tabs and whether a tab is hidden or not is written into the registry in either teh Manila_Home or Manila_Core tab.
Anyway, the manila file is pretty important

Hola, yes it needs and uses all those files, but you might also have to check 7c60907d_manila and other CHT core files as well as dependencies regarding the CHT Addon "Tab_links" since they also involve the tabs you are eliminating. Best to PM mike2nl about this. If you need further assistance with internal CHT issues, donĀ“t hesitate contacting also through CHT ArtWork & Widgets Thread

About the music system in CHT. There are well a lot of dependencies around the manila system. I am on my job here. But there will be no list of the files. Therefore we/i will create only a special cab file of the CHT V2 Final. Something like CHT_V2.0.0.x_NoMusic.

[TF3D TWEAK][13.09.2008]Small TouchFLO 3D mods from D-MAN :)

I'm starting this thread where i will post all that small TF3D mods i wrote that do not require separate discussion.
1. Now, here's the first one:
Working analog clock icon
Installation is very simple (for ones, who modded Manila before ): copy files to windows dir, then replace icon reference nodes you like in manila.xml (Actual file name: 26948339_manila)
Code:
<ComponentReference Name="icon_normal" Mode9Path="HTC\AnalogClockIcon.mode9" Component="AnalogClockIconTray" />
<ComponentReference Name="icon_selected" Mode9Path="HTC\AnalogClockIcon.mode9" Component="AnalogClockIconOn" />
<ComponentReference Name="icon_preview" Mode9Path="HTC\AnalogClockIcon.mode9" Component="AnalogClockIconPreview" />
2. Also, i'm getting numerous requests for my iPhone iconset, so i'm posting it here too.
3. iDiamond Project (Apple iPhone interface mimic) (sorry for the video quality of 2 first videos - shot it with my old Qtek S110)
Step 1: Main Menu concept

Step 2: CoverFLO concept

Step 3: CoverFLO progress 1

Step 4: Main Menu customization
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-iPOalE6Po
Step 5: Home Screen and more

I was supposed to finish my paid work by this time, but it turns out to be about a month of work ahead, thus i don't know when i resume my work on iDiamond, so i'm posting an unlocked version of beta here, coz holding you off the software doesn't serve it's primary goal (motivate me to continue project) anymore.

Man, just a quick question:
If i want to add new tabs, i need to disable another to place the new tab, right?
I can't have more than usual tabs and history call AND this clock now, or your calendar, at the same time...
Cheers!
(Sorry me, im spanishs )
That's NOT a separate tab, just an "active" icon that you can assign to any tab

D-MAN666 I know that you said not to ask for impossible cause you still are learning touchflo 3D but maybe it will be possible to make a tab for coreplayer. There is already something similar in SPB mobile shell so the coreplayer could be used instead of WMP or something else (maybe corecodec could help you if you contact hem). Probably its too much but I'm sure that many would admire you for doing this. Maybe it would be possible to use the music tab as a starting point for this.
Cheers and good luck on learning touchflo 3D so in the future you could do everything with it

In the calendar thread. Order values in xml must be sequential and unique. When you install one .cab on another .cab, it just erases other tab's entry, and coz cab can only replace not patch files, you'll have to do that manually.

D-MAN666 thanks for the calender and the clock tweak they're excellent. I have got a bit of a problem though, see screenshot.. it say's "ids_calender" at the top and the menu button and also "i....." instead of the days?? Have i done something wrong or is this a bug? also is it possible to change the colour of the font? i'd like a white version if possible
Do you think it's possible to do an active Programs page, that would show you any running programs similar to a message counter? it's easy to forget what programs you've got running and the reminder on the programs page could be quite useful
P.S thanks a lot for your contribution to Manila editor i'm using it all the time at the moment and it's brilliant (are there any updates planned any time soon?)

Hi D-Man,
Firstly I would like to say a huge thank you for the splendid add-ons you have developed for TF3D. The Calendar specifically has become invaluable for many of us here at T-Mobile.
Seeing as you are our resident Manila XML expert...

it works!
unfortunatly it has to be with registry changes!
here you can see:

I guess not for novice users, they might break it :>
Well, I'd suggest once all the shortcuts are properly done, backup those reg entries.. then next time, it would just be importing the reg file after a hard reset.
Anybody can upload the default reg entry or provide the links to Settings and Home (TF3D). I forgot where I backed them up and I removed them previously.

Why can't they put Settings instead of [[IDS_SETTINGSTITLE] ?
adding paths manually is painful especially when you need to move them around for any reason.. what about a little config utility to do this easily? it would be nice also to have only the needed rows.. I mean, 50 might bee too much, and using the above mentioned config app might set 33, 36, 39, 42, 45 etc depending on my needs..
hope it's clear enough for you to understand my hint

It is for multilingual purposes. manila will load the name according to your device system/manila current language.
The following registry files will extend the number of programs to 48 (or 64 in the case of the second file). All the new entries can be edited directly from the programs tab. No additional messing around in the registry is required.
Reg files don't work for me...I had tried the same thing earlier by manually editting the registry without success. But I thought I would give it one more try. Really stupid that we can't have more than 30 items...
EDIT: I have CDMA TouchPro2 on Sprint...

G-Alarm Link on Manila Sense 2.5 Home Tab

I've modified the manila in 2.5 home tab to start G-Alarm directly from the home tab alarm icon. I also have set up a softkey link on the alarm clock tab as well.
It assumes that you have G-Alarm loaded in main memory at \Program Files\ageye\G-Alarm. Otherwise this won't work.
I've only tried this on my VGA fuze.

It's because this is based on LUA script for older 2.5 versions. From 1922 up (more or less, can't remember exactly), you need to remove two lines from script (begin with AlarmBackground...) and compile it. I suggest you take a look at 12aon's thread (mentioned by hanackin on second post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=596079) there're some solutions there in the end of the thread for already compiled and CABbed installs.
I tweaked mine myself, but I have it installed on a different path, so it wouldn't help you out... sorry.
Will this work with M2D?
Working great on my HD2, Thanks !

Manila_2.5.20183025 packages, CFC'd+0409+fixes

Here are the Manila 2.5.20183025 packages, CFC'd with 0409 files and the following fixes/notes:
http://www.4shared.com/file/iRTAuNMV/Manila_2_5_20183025_0_CFC_0409.html
CFC'd it
Added 0409 files to Core and 0409 strings to Home for the RSS feed.
Removed all the 'hide facebook, footprints and twitter' entries. Facebook still causes the phone to hang on the people page though... Stick to the older 2016 People tab is my recommendation.
Changed PHMManager.exe to SIM_MGR.exe in People tab (dual sim fix), added C G message tab fix (dual sim fix again) and removed 2 dual sim entries from settings tab.
Restored music tab download artwork button in the top left corner.
Removed 'lunar calendar' entry from the Calendar tab menu.
If you're going to use the 2018 Home tab, with RSS feed, make sure the following is not cooked into your ROM anywhere:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"EnableLandscape"="true"
If you want landscape use an older home or CHT, or take a look at programatix' Oboe landscape fix.
Attached are the Leo Internet Tab icons - much prettier than the hideous Oboe icons with the big yellow 'e'. Drop them into the Core/files dir if you want them

this is how I do:
Using Total Commander:
1. Go to every tab folder
2. Search for: *_manila
3. Find text: <xliff version="1.0" lang=" (this will select all language files)
4. Unicode
5. Feed to listbox
6. Open search again
7. Find text: "en-us" (or any language that you want to keep)
8. Unicode
9. Important: Find files NOT containing the text
10. Feed to listbox
11. Select all and delete them

If I build a ROM using Oboe People tab, go to all people and slide across to the two rrows in a circle (facebook tab) you will see the login details area. However when I leave this page the phone hangs - can still access start menu but I can't access manila, even after closing and restarting Sense. A soft reset is the only way. So instead I use the older 2016 People tab...
I have checked and you are complete correct.
Also i found that Groups from People_2016 aren't recognised from People_2018.
Is it possible to have the tab/ssubtab icons from People_2018 to insert in People_2016

I use the 2016 People tab as I've never been able to get facebook to work with the Oboe version (I've used Oboe 2.5.2017 and now 3 different 2018 People tabs and they all crash on facebook) so I have no idea about the IDS menu items...

Oh and millski....thanks for sharing m8!
Just wanted to say a big THANKS! I've finally got my first full 2018 up and running thanks to your files. There are numerous bugs, but it's a start! I'll definitely be keeping up with this thread!

Yep, just make sure your working people tab (for me it's 2016) is cooked before the 2018 core - the new icons are in the 2018 core and overwrite the older icons Just a minor note here - many of the icons and graphics used in manila are duplicated in the manila core so it makes sense to ensure it's cooked late on in your kitchen if you want to use the latest core images; in the 2018/Oboe manila this means the internet tab icons (which are ugly, hance my attachment), the music library icons and the all people icons...

I've done that, it still doesn't work. If anyone has a working app.reg for people and core from the Oboe manila please post it as I've tried the last four Oboe people tabs, with a variety of facebook=0 and facebook reg entries deleted altogether and it just doesn't work...
did u have facebook engine packages in ur kitchen ?
What resolutions are supported, in particular I want to know if you can adapt for Omnia I8000, thanks

Yep, the only changes I make is swap manila_people_2.5.20183025 for manila_people_2.5.2016 and the same for manila_home. The Facebook.Disabled value is 0 in my 2018 packages btw, and the pages are un-hidden, but they still cause the phone to hang - which is why I use the 2016's instead.

Interesting, OBOE 1.04 debug ROM got no facebook engine package. Is that integrated to manila2018 now maybe? And maybe causing the hangup when included in cooked roms?
Does the music album art download work? I doubt it as I saw many files missing entries for it in the music package compared to 2016. I had to stay with 2016 music package, I guess it could be some of the graphical mods I have causing the problems or some of the files may have changed.

Quick question re Manila

I use only a few of the tabs on Manila - but I seem to remember reading somewhere that I have to edit a certain file in the core if i want to simply not include the tabs, becuase it will crash if it cannot find the tab to which it refers.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
Many thanks
You need to edit 26948339_manila in Manila core.
Open with NotePad and delete what you dont need then change the number sequence of the other tabs.
Anyway ( reading CC sticky threads worth) in this link you are explain how to add extra tabs, just make reverse.

Thank you both. I seem to struggle with Manila generally at the moment. I knew I had read it somewhere but could not dig it up.
Hmmm. Did this and all worked except that my weather tab has stopped working. Made no other changes and have checked I have not deleted more than I should.
Any suggestions?
Cheers.
Update:Never mind. Updating my weather tab package to 2018 seems to have fixed it. Not sure why.
