[Q] Does EC05 do a Clean Wipe Install? - Epic 4G General

Any OTA havers out there. Did EC05 do a full wipe or leave your apps and things in place? Should I pull out my SD card prior to installing?

[Q] How to Completely Erase Everything?

I want to do this as more of a starting new kind of thing. I know you can clear the sd cards and factory reset, but does that truly erase everything? And i understand theres also some options to clear delvik cache and others in CWM. Are these caches erased w/ factory reset? thx brah
Odin maybe?

yeah ive used odin a bunch to flash eugenes roms and stock rom if i get a soft brick. But weird thing is it doesnt wipe my internal sd. BTW this ISNT like a serious issue and i NEED to erase everything...but ive flashed so many roms over each other i thought it would be good to give my phone a breath of fresh air. haha
okay so just about an hour ago i was trying to install the 2825 radio. i flashed it onto the phone in recovery mode and now my phone wont go past the boot screen. (tmobile g1) i can still get to recovery and fastboot and all of that but even when i tried to restore it, it still wont go past the boot screen!!!!! what did i do wrong, and is there any hope for me?? please help!

Hopefully you will not accomplish your objective. "Everything" includes the Primary Boot Loader, in which case your phone will be permanently bricked, for all intents and purposes.
You will not be able to access the phone by any means other than an expensive tester after you delete USB drivers from the phone.
To erase everything...you need to go settings.phone & sdcard.umount...under phone storage.format....it will mount back on its own

you'll lose everything on the rom including apps that the dev added. only thing you wont lose is stock apps, but no it shouldnt matter what rom your running.

Can't install anything

Anyone else having trouble installing anything. I have trying cyanogenmod and skyraider. Both wont let me install apps. Yet I can on my stock rom. I am rooted. This all started when I got the ota update popup.

Do mean anything, or is it only specific apps? There is a way to disable the update pop up, so if you don't want that to pop up (assuming it still is...) do a search to disable that.
Can't install anything. What I ended up doing was installing stock letting the ota update then rerooting. But it still wont let me install anything when on another rom. Just my rooted stock.

Before installing another ROM, did you do a full wipe of user data and dalvik cache? So if you go into the Market, does it download then say that it couldn't install? Did you try clearing the Market cache?
also...sometimes you have to unmount the SD card, install app, mount SD card. I have no idea why, but thats what i need to do for a lot of apps....quite a pain
Tried remounting sd card. Still same weird bug. All I can use is stock rom. Thanks for trying to help guess I'm stuck for now.

ROMS/Kernals/Root without CPU?

I really want to flash syndacate frozen, but don't have a data cable. I was wondering if I could downgrade to stock froyo, root, and flash syndacate from my phone. Thanks in advance!

None of what I'm reading makes sense. Can you expand upon this thought?
I'm running the gingerbread leak. I want to flash syndicate frozen without using a data cable. I'm sure I'd have to downgrade, then root, then flash right?

No. I've done it. the newer releases auto convert to ext4. My brother knows the whole conversion process and it has the conversion built in the script.

That's what I was thinking too, but wasn't sure if that was the question at first.
Could someone please explain to me what to do in a simpler fashion? Noob here
Turn on wifi, download the version of SRF1.2 you want and any fixes you want to use. Boot into CWM 3.1.0.1 purple and (for best results) wipe factory 3x, wipe data cache 3x, wipe dalvik cache in advanced menu 3x. choose install from sd>choose zip from card>srf1.2. watch the magic happen. reboot. flash enable journaling to avoid problems, if you'd like.

Ohhhhhh, you flashed the unrooted stock? I'm confused. Boot into recovery. What one does it do? I thought Gingerbread kept your current recovery. Didn't noobnl put it in there?
Also, if you have a friend with a Blackberry, their cable works great.
Its just show Android system recovery, not clockwork purple

Go to youtube and check out qbking77 video on 'how to unroot without a computer' vid. Then he also has a video 'how to root without a computer'. The how to root vid shows how to root ur phone with CWM 2.5.1. Then you download the SFR 1.2, CWM purple, and what ever kernel onto ur sd card and flash them from ur CWM 2.5.1. Took me about 15mins to do all steps. Minus download times.

The problem is we don't have cwm.
Need "how to cwm without PC"
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I'm not sure of qbking's method but root generally includes CWM so it should work.
Theyre on stock unrooted gb leak. Is there a non-odin way to go yet?

[Q] triple ringtones after CM7

hi all.
after (one click root), (unlocking bootloader), (installing rom manager and CWM), (flashing CM7) ... and realizing the full potential of this device, (previosly on (2.3.4 4.5.91 AT&T) - i find in settings/sound/phone ringtone list every ring tone is triple. is this something normal? or i have done something wrong. it was my first time flashing a rom.
any idea?
and something else... how do i uninstall apps that came with CM7. actually all those apps are amazing. but some of them i dont use. like "torch"
a big thank you for devs.
and sorry if this is posted in the wrong thread.

Factory reset, when going from a factory rom to cm it is best to factory reset, I do and everything seems good, but of course when upgrading cm version you won't need to factory reset. Be sure to back up all your apps, factory reset then restore your apps. When I restore apps I restore app only and not the data. If you restore the data and get problems factory reset again and restore app only.

I think what he meant was that if your are worried about losing all files(erased SD card) then just make positively sure that when wiping data for a ROM switch that you DO NOT have internal memory checked when wiping phone. It's very simple to avoid but at the same time very simple to click on accident and not notice it.. Or in case you were just talking about if you would lose all installed apps after switching ROMs then unfortunately that is correct. Although it truly isn't at the same time because after flashing your next ROM and installing correct gapps upon initial boot after flashing ROM the Google play store should be recovering the apps you "lost". Hope that helped.
