And I've heard that xda-developers are thinking of creating sub-forums such as "General" or "Q&A". Do you think they will implement it soon!?!?
To answer you, yes they will and they are currently working on it!

Un-simlock by root ?

Hi guys,
Sorry I'm a noob and need your help. My wife would like to buy on Ebay a HTC MAgic but they are all lock by a provider, and we have another provider. I know how to unsimlock an acer liquid, but I would like to know if there is a way to unsimlock a HTC Hero or MAgic.
Thanks for your great help
A frenchy in need before my wife kill me lol

Yayaya whatever.
@ Hendrixus : sorry, but I was glad to speak with a person from Canada, they are our cousin and it's not everyday that I can, nor even have an answer when I'm asking about something. Anyway, sorry.
@ Taknarosh : Thank you so much for your answers. Was glad for your explanations. OK, I will go to a web site to unlock this, I can spend some Euro, no problem then. Of course, if he explained and nobody understood the explanations, better to not do it.
Once again, thanks a mil for your kind answer my friend.

There are many roms available in this forum. You can flash any rom of your choice. My choice is prestigeX rom.. Which is still in beta but better than most of the available roms here.. Read Sticky forums for Further Details on flashing.

For the radio rom, the one that gives me the best call/reception quality, and especially the best battery life is the 2.10.50.08_2, far better than any other.

Which other radios are you comparing to?
2.06.50.04, 2.07.50.27, 2.08.50.08, 2.10.50.19_2, 2.10.50.26 and 2.10.50.28_2.
Keep in mind it's my result for France with Orange, it seems the results are very different between countries and carriers.
Hmmmmzz, I'm using 2.10.50.26, so might be better switching as I just read here? I have t-mobile in Holland, would that make any difference comparing to other countries?
The best way to know is to try by yourself.
The 2.10.50.26 is a Tmous radio (from 2.13.531.1) and the 2.10.50.08_2 is an EU/Korean radio (from 1.74.911.2).

i finally got 2.10.50.08_2 and now i'm looking for a decent ROM... do you have advice,,, MERCI BEAUCOUP!!
The rom choice is a bit difficult, too. Taste question IMO.
I'm using Dutty's roms and cant' seem to find something that suits my needs better.
CleanEX are good too but I prefer the Dutty feeling..
Good luck finding your chef !
Bonne chance !
Just take a popular one energy, artemis, dutty, clean ex.
They are all good but you have to find out what you like.
To the OP,
We don't do "best rom" threads as what suits you or your requirements won't suit someone else. Besides the Chefs cook roms to suit themselves then share with us.
I let this thread run for a little while so you could get some help with the radio issue. Best way to find a rom that suits you is to read the first couple of posts of each rom, as described by the Chef, including what they think is the best radio to go with it, flash that rom and see if you like it.
Closing this now. Hope it all goes well.
If you are really struggling after following the tips on here then let me know and we can see how we can help.

Make App RadioFM

Hello,
I am looking for someone who knows how to program applications for Android.
I currently use the ROM OpenFire but I wonder if it was possible to have an application using the RadioFM. I looked around and sources of ROM drivers we have access to the FM chip. Not knowing whether I wanted to set someone felt able to do that.
I think I am not alone in needing

CyanogenMod is getting FMRadio very soon, so my CM6 ROM will possibly have it and adeadrat can add the app to his AOSP source if he wants.
Hope this helps,

It's not that simple. It won't work on our hardware yet because it only contains code for the N1 (as far as I know). It needs a good bit of work but I'm sure we'll eventually get FM on AOSP builds for Wildfire
Ok I thought it was enough to replaced the file "driver" and recompiling the project

I use to be like that...sitting on pins & needles to flash a new rom, that thrill that would run up your leg LOL.
Now, my phone with stock ICS works great, smooth, no lock ups.
Phones are like toasters to me....functional.
I DO APPRECIATE all the people out there on the bleeding edge, making the upgrade process smoother for old
farts like me that stay stock though :good:
So it's come to all note user no matter which country?

I'm asking you to be patient, because like said in the video i'm not expert in this ariea.
and like many people i got a life with kids and i can't allow my phone to take me all the time i have.
I receive many proposition, from sammobile too.
I'm coming to contact them back to see which solution can be approched, and of course without putting at risk my device.
I'm not root, and I'm not thinking that 4.1.1 root will be fonctionnal, it may brick my device, what i don't want.
For the excuse i confirm that no one insult me, only doubts and i understand that.
Last thing, it seems like samsung have heard about the story because they locked my updates, so i can't check them anymore (seems to be lock).
I will let you know of any new information i can get.
Thanks to everyone for your patience and understanding."

maybe someone native speaking Frecnh can tell this guy, it is absolutely BRICKFREE to root the device with this method: [20 Sep 2012][ICS]Universal Rooting for most ICS phones, Any ROM, now with CWM6
he just has to download this Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2-Update1-signed.zip and this cwm-non-touch-6.0.1.4-i9100.zip
Put the previously downloaded cwm-non-touch-6.0.x.x-i9100.zip file on your external sd card
Copy the Root_XXX.zip file you downloaded to internal or external sd card
Boot into stock recovery (volume up+home+power), and select "apply update from external storage". Now select the cwm-non-touch-6.x.x.x-i9100.zip file you copied in previous step (this step gives a temporary flash that will disappear after reboot)
You get CWM recovery interface (this custom recovery is temporary, not permanent)
Inside CWM, select "install zip from sdcard". Then, select "choose zip from sdcard". Now, scroll down to the "Root_XXX.zip" file and hit power button to install it.
It will add SuperSU or Superuser last version apk to system/app, last superuser binary (su) to system/xbin and busybox last version to system/xbin, all with correct file permissions.
Reboot and you get permanent root + busybox installed on your stock kernel.
(He can unroot his device easily afterwards - also described in phils thread!!!)
Afterwards he can do a nandroid backup or (maybe even better fro him) this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25328650&postcount=1 on a running device!!!
I can guide him though every step - and there is NO RISK at all!!!
