[Q] Nearly all NAND builds giving constant lock ups -help! - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I've been playing with different android builds for almost a year. Before NAND I've always had mixed luck and after playing with many radios and builds I ended up using Shrubcraft's stock build as the only reliable one I could find.
Finally, I put Cotulla's first stable Desire NAND on at the beginning of the year and it has worked fine until recent I started having a couple freeze issues while using certain apps.
So here is my problem... I've caught up to speed with the new magldr and tried to flash 3 different newer builds. HyperDroid-CM7.v1.0.3, NexusHD2-Gingerbrad v2.4, and HyperDroidGBX-v10. NONE of them work.
All give me problems with robo voice, which I can solve by shutting off key tones. After that I'm still stuck with sluggishness, sleep of death, and random lock ups (twice while only trying to run the initial setup).
I've tried formatting my sd card, cleaning all of the data/cache with AD recovery, trying 4 or 5 radio combos with each. I've even looked through peoples posts and found the exact ROM/radio combo that they are saying is stable and trying those with no luck.
I'm running out of ideas. Any thoughts?
Currently:
HTC HD2 - TMOUS
Radio: 2.12.50
ROM: Cotulla's stable Desire NAND

jumping to kernel

have a tmo us hd2
had a past version of android with sense it worked fine. tried a different and got the pause at jumping to kernel so tried a clean version, it worked. ive booted it plenty of times, then tonight it stopped working
so im trying froyostone with sense and now it wont boot either
im on omega v7 newest and radio 2.1.5.28_2
I was on the same problem, i think you have the android files directly on your SD Card? So that is the problem, put them in a new folder android.
That helps me, the first boot was by me also possible, but after that all reboots end in "jumping to kernel"
nope. theyre in the android folder.
and i just tried switching to the 2.12 radio
the strangest part is that is was working the past few days and earlier today...
id understand a certain build not working but why would it randomly stop working.
Have you made, since this problem more reboots. I have on my HD2 sometimes that i must boot 2-3 times to come up
yup, tried multiple reboots and both radios
have you solved a problem? I've similar problem. Each time I turn on the phone - I'm getting this error. Sometimes it helps to remove "cache' folder and some others and restart twice or may be 3 times. But no working 100% solution.

Very good job, DEV team you are masters
When I'm getting stuck at jump to kernel, I normally remove and reinsert the sd card when I booted into WM and most of the time that fixes it.
I (and other members) have found that "Jumping to kernel..." freeze occurs when one is using Windows for a period of time. The solution is usually to re-boot and once Windows loads *immediately* boot into Android. This has not failed me yet! Before I was like you, wondering why sometimes I get the freeze and other times I don't...but a fresh boot into Android solved my issue.
Hope this helps.
have you changed the kernal lately or switched any file , or renamed anything
have you tried changing the startup.txt file? look around for that solution..it has been posted here many times.
I would give you a link but I am posting from my cell so it would be a little difficult.

TMOUS HD2 Freezing on New Flash and Without Micro SD Card Why?

I recently have been experiencing problems with my HD2 freezing and lagging.
I decided to get rid of the stock ROM that came with my phone. I installed the HSPL 3 on my phone and it is now at 2.08 instead of the 2.10 it came with. I installed the Energy ROM build from Aug. Cant remember which one. For about a month the ROM gave me no issues at all. Then suddenly i started getting freezes as I once did on the stock ROM. I flashed the ROM again and still freezing. I backed up my data on the micro sd card and re-formatted it but the HD2 freezes without the sd card installed. also many times I have had to pull my sim card out to get the phone to respond to my finger. also when i recieved a text message the phone froze.
When i boot into android the phone is fine. no freezes. some lag but no freezing at first. now i get random freezes as well. I just installed the latest Froyostone build from Sept 29 V 3.1 on my micro sd card and it as well has been freezing. Before I installed this new version I was running a clean froyostone version and that too was freezing.
im beginning to think my phone is bad! My sim card is old. Ive had it possibly 4-5 years now since i first signed up with tmobile. ive tried just about every tip available to fix the freezing issue and nothing works. the phone freezes at bootup with a new flashed ROM. freezes on the stock ROM too. Tried the task 29 flashed with radio file.
currently on my HD2 I have the following
SPL 2.08
Radio: 2.07.50.27_2
ROM: Energy Aug 28 2010 WWE
for Android
FroyoStone Sense - Version 3.1 (29-September-2010)
I flashed from the 2.10.50.26 to 2.07.50.27_2 using the task29
I have tried many radios. the stock, the 2.07.50.27_2, 2.08.50.05 and the latest 2.14.50 radio. ALL freeze on my phone. I read on some threads that radios cause the phone to freeze but all of them are freezing. 2.08.50.05 i got my best performance. 3G was very strong indoors and download speeds were through the roof but when i ran android i got the robotic voice so i changed the radio back to stock.
Sorry for all the mixed up info but just wanted to say what I have gone through. The phone will work fine for awhile and then it just freezes. Also another weird thing is that when the phone freezes and i do a battery pull it boots back up right back where it left off. like it did a system resume. it wont say HTC Loading HTC Sense it just goes right to the lockscreen and freezes. WTF!!!
so please anyone have any info for me? because no matter what ROM and/or radio combination i use the phone freezes and even without the micro sd card installed. yes my card is a class 2 and i heard on th htc forum that they are replacing the class 2 cards for class 4 cards but that doesnt seem to be the issue here because the phone freezes without the card.
when i flash the ROM or radio i do not have the sim or sd card installed. I also tried the elegancia rom and i loved it but same thing. freezing. I dont have any apps installed on the phone except for GRemotePro which is installed on the storage card and the phone was freezing before i ever installed that app.
So if anyone reading this has solutions or links to other threads on here please help me by leaving them! I have done a very extensive search through this site for solutions and done many of them with no luck. I hate to call tmobile and go through the hassle of getting another phone especially because i paid 300 bucks for a NEW phone and I dont want to send this one back and get a refurbished unit. I want a NEW working unit in which i originally paid for to begin with!!!!
HELP my fellow HD2 users! I love this phone!
i hink you should download nrg's newset rom but flash the radio he recomends
I'm also having the same issue, and looking for a fix. as what i observed, its a hardware related issue, not software issue.
Did you get any solution after that? I like this phone but it failed me...

Dreaded screen freeze.

Hi all, I'm new to android, and after trying several different builds am ready to give up trying (even tho I LOVE android) due to the problems I keep having.
When I boot into android, it works fine for a while (varying from 5 minutes to over a day) then I get a frozen screen, which stays frozen even after re-booting into Windows. Sometimes this stays frozen for HOURS and makes the phone unusable.
The last attempt was with Hyperdroid v1.6 and it worked fine for 15 minutes, (yes I turned off the auto -rotate display) then it froze up.
If anyone has any ideas/pointers/advice, it would be MAHOOSIVELY appreciated
Please post some more information including your radio and rom versions.
When I have problems I always start from a clean slate including a task29, flash the latest radio, rom and download a new build to a formatted sd card. Try builds that use different kernels.
Beyond that you can start swapping kernels different kernels into your build.
i think I've sorted it thanks polo735, after reading your post I finally researched task29, ran it and reinstalled everything and it seems (touch wood) to be stable now Happy Days!!!! Many thanks

Android constantly locks up.

Hi.
I'm trying to fix my friends phone. I'm rather tired after trying some nand and sd releases. I've tried different 2.2 and 2.3 releases and the phone always seems to lock up when launching Maps. With the nand roms the phone would lockup up frequently. We lowered the cpu speed and it seemed the phone locked up less.
I've got both 2.3 and 2.2 nand roms to boot. I've only gotten a 2.2 sd release to boot from Windows.
This is what I'm currently running
HSPL 2.08
[ROM][WWE-ELL-GER]28Feb Omega WM6.5.x v24 29007+23152#Sense2021#HTCMessaging 2022
Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**
darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5
With this configuration everything seems to run smooth except Maps totally locks the phone and almost every app started crashes instantly.
He managed to have Android running with some minor problem with the stock rom and an Android 2.2 SD release but I can't remember which.
Do you think this may be something hardware related? The phone seems to have been dropped some times.
So please If you can, help me.
tried a different sd card?
edit:
Yes but it still locks up.
I forgot to say that I did do task29 before I installed the rom.
I think I'll give up.

[Q] Whats wrong with this HD2? Anyone else getting these problems?

Ok first and foremost...I have tried searching
I have been a lurker most of the time here on xda seeing as if I just search and read I'll get most of my answers, but not this time.
Ok some background info first:
TMOUS US HD2 1024Leo
Radio: I'm not 100% sure but I did a task29 that supposedly flashed 2.15.50.14
HSPL: 2.08
MAGLDR 1.13
I bought this phone about a year ago, flashed tytung's Nexus HD2 Gingerbread rom which worked flawlessly for about 10 months or so. One day the phone froze up, pulled battery then inserted and the rom reset to the point where it was like new. Around that time tytung's ICS AOSP thread came alive and I followed it closely watching the updates and what not.
I never installed it until Beta 10. Followed his instructions, set up the partition to 200MBs with a cache of 45MB...45MB for cache because I suspect I may have some bad NAND blocks. Anyways install went flawlessly, everything that was supposed to work, worked...ect ect
Used it for about 24hrs then all of a sudden it froze, when I rebooted I started getting all these random apps crashing(gapps[google apps?], Email, Google Login Services ect), needless to say I task29'd the HD2 and reinstalled everything, worked fine for a day then everything started crashing again.
So after all that info I'm just wondering if someone is experiencing the same problems and/or can maybe lead me in the right direction to figure out this problem.
I know its only a beta but I havent read many posts containing my problems. So Im just left wondering if my NAND is going bad completely and I need a new phone or if theres just something I'm doing wrong.
Before i begin - I have no experience with that Rom, these are just common general ideas.
1) as the rom starts well and then only after a day it breaks, maybe it is because of something (update) getting installed on your device. Have you tried fixing permissions after you encounter the problem?
Or try figuring out which update of which app does it.
2)It also might be the problem of the nand bad blocks, if you suspect it, but if thats the case, there is not really a lot you can do...
No offense, but that's the reason its beta. It doesn't have all the bugs worked out yet.
If you're looking for a daily driver, you should try something more stable.
Hi,
Not sure if you still have this problem..
Have you tried re-installing the ROM again or a different ROM to confirm if the issue is with your phone (hardware) or with the ROM (beta version)?
