Hd2 android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi.. i am in a dilemma if i should upgrade my hd2 to Android or not..i am having a lot of troubles with the current rom of win mo 6.5 on my phone.. i have the eu version hd2.
can some 1 help

ur long overdue buddy , its a no-brainer ... but , if you have a fast sd card , u should try a sd card build first

There's an excellent guide HERE if you do decide to go down the Android route.
I say go for it!

Get a Class 10 sd card here in the USA they are 35 USD for a 16 gig Then Dual boot into android, you can put 2.21 or 2.3 if you want I have done also Windows7 on my HD2 This is a very nice versatile phone. After you begin to understand the Android platform then I would look into a new phone.

android is the best thing that has ever happened to my phone. I used to hated it with the stock winmo6.5, but now with android....i cannot live a day without my phone

Go for it straight to nand aswell. I waited until near end of contract to do it but should have much earlier

[POLL] When a NAND version is released, Will you flash?

First of all lets not turn this into a war of the mobile OS's....Everyone has their own oppinions and needs, which is why there will NEVER be a definitive answer to the Question: Which is better, WinMo or Android? So please dont start flamewars or fanboy arguments in this thread.
The purpose of this poll is to determine how many of you will be 'switching' to Android on a pemanent basis, and how many of you will be sticking with Windows Mobile in some capacity.
I ask this because originally when I first tested Android, I envisaged myself sticking with Windows Mobile when a flashable Android ROM was released.
Then as great progress began to be made with the AndroidHD2 development, I began to think that windows was dead to me and I eagerly awaited the NAND version of Android.
Now I am beginning to think that I might stick with a dual boot option even when the NAND version comes. Ideally I would like to have Android as my flashed ROM with a version of WM 6.5.x running from SD as a dual boot option.
So... When the NAND Flashable version of Android for HD2 comes...What will you do?
(I know this should be in the 'General HD2 Android' section but there isn't one...yet. Mods, please move when possible).
I like the widgets and backgrounds, android is just so much easier.
But for tomtom, I'll still be using my winmo. Some stuff just req windows to function.
So, best of both worlds, I guess..
If i can still retain WinMo then sure, why not... but if it's not possible then i'll stick to the Micro SD card. I wouldn't want to give up my ability to dual boot.
The Android builds are fast enough anyways on the card and i'm sure a class 6 Micro SD will be faster than the NAND anyways.
As well as in PCs, having dual boot means you can use both OSes Apps. So I will stick to dual boot.
I plan on buying the next big android phone tmobile and htc come up with (and i have a nexus one), so my hope for the hd2 is flashing wp7. I dont know if you nand flash if you would be able to flash wp7 if there are gonna be wp7 roms.
ANDROID: NAND
WINMO:SD card
Ubuntu: SD card
iOS4: SD card
and I wish having a new bootloader possible to select before splashscreen.
Cheer!

Now THATS what Im talkin about!
Even the iOS4 might make it onto my card if a version was ever released for HD2...one more app store cant hurt
Here's the thing
If we flash Android to nand, will there be any going back? Will there ever be updates to future versions of android? This is the primary thing to me, if the dev's will continue to upgrade Android for future versions then I might flash, but if it's kind of a one and done, I'd probably stick with dual booting. I'm also hoping that there is eventually a wp7 port for the hd2 as well...
I'm thinking if it's worth investing in a class 6 card to keep dualboot, what do u guys think about the performance difference between NAND and Class 6?

same for me, the other gps software are.... not as good and easy as tomtom.
I will use Winmo for tomtom only and the rest on android

Would it ever be possible to have iOS on a hd2? That would be great for all the extra apps.
I am happy with Android on SD card and dual booting.
I prefer the functionality of a dual boot, but in appealability I would much prefer to run Android as a day to day phone when the nand is finally ported. But I wouldn't jump in feet first,I'd hope that it was totally reversible and not flash back & forth, just that winmo could stay as an option to return to. And that the devs can continue to feed us with fresher versions when they become available.

And I'm thinking there is a different thread on that subject
i prefer winmo over the android , im returning to winmo , its just my openion :!
Bye bye winmo
The only thing that winmo is doing in my phone right now is to help me to run haret.
sure i would flash it, just to satisfy my curiosity, but i would eventually stick with dual booting winmo and android on SD.
NAND is so close....the Devs are finishing the structure port...them is a question of work to give the polish in all.
today the dev work is located on leds notification.
were is the status thread?
for the poll, I will make what turns more eficient the performance of Android....including the question of baterie life, very important.

This is great news! i really do start reading the dev channel logs to keep up to date
triple booting
i am sticking with triplebooting android ,ubuntu, winmo.i am using a class 4 card and the speed is great, moving up to class 6 .my hd2 with android scores better than my brothers evo on linpack, and quadrant.
At the moment I will stay on dual boot. Cant wait for a really stable Android for HD2 If we can get TomTom or iGO8 on Android then i will go with it on NAND.

[Q] U.S.A HD2 and Android

hay guys sorry id some of you get mad for me posting this here but this is the only place i know my qustion will get answered. OK im new to the windows phone deal. i have a mytouch slide and a g1 rooted so i under that hole part here is my ?.
From what i have read on the forums only build roms work with the hd2. well i would like to put android on it but after looking around most the roms on here and the links on here for putting android on the phone all lead to the LEO forum is the correct or no if not can someone tell me were to get the most resent android rom for the hd2 usa, now there seems to be two ways of installing it one is from sd card and 2 is from boot i would like to do it from boot any help would be grate thanks all and happy modding
Someone correct me if I am wrong...
There are not TWO ways of doing android.
Android is ALWAYS installed on the SD card. The only way to "boot" to it is to have your WM configured to boot the two files from your SD card required to run it, in essence there are a few apps that can do this at WM startup.
You will still need an Android friendly Windows Mobile ROM, so the stock from will not work. You also need a compatible radio.
I would check out the HD2 Android Dev forum for more info though.

The Android port cannot replace the WinMo OS just yet. The only way is to install it to your SD Card and it will run off of that. There are apps that allow you to choose between WinMo and Android on bootup. The LEO Android forum is correct since Android builds do not matter which device it is booted on.
Android is able to run on the Stock ROM, but people have said it runs better with a different ROM/Radio.
The build I recommend is Energy ROM / Radio 2.12.50.02_2 and an Android Build of your choice, but you can always run it on the Stock if you feel like it.

Hd2 tmo or leo???

Hi there
i am planning to take hd2 as i love modding
which version is the best for modding the t-mobile or the leo???
Please help
If you want to mess with NAND i'd recommend tmo as it has a 1gig nand, but if you want to try winmo roms or android sd build i'd recommend leo as it doesn't treat you strictly regarding radio flashin, but it only have abt 480-512 of internal memory.
I want to try android i recently sold my tmobile vibrant
as there was very less development in the forum
little confused wether to take hd2 or international galaxy s but my bugdet is low
i will be trying all with sd initiallly later nand which will you suggest ???
I suggest Tmo as it has 1024 mb but you have to take care when flashing radios or roms ..
Congratulations on your new tmo HD2
Thanks a lot for your suggestion....
I hope there ARE plenty of ANDROID roms and modding to t-mobile hd2 ???
Tmo is the same as leo, so it has the ame roms ad builds (I repeat, Take extreme care when flashing anything, read everything twice )

You just have to check for everything you want to flash and see whether it's compatible with Tmou or not !
Does the telestra hd2 have the same 1gig nand?

HD2 Win6.5 + Win7

Hello xdadevs,
i have a question, is it possible to have win6.5 and win7.0 installed on a HTC HD2?
for example win6.5 on device and win7.0 on SD card?
i tried to find some info in the current threads but didnt find anything
thank you in advance
Hello.
It's not possible yet (maybe in future...?). Those are your posibilities:
- Windows Mobile from NAND (stock).
- WM6.5 in NAND, Android from SD Card.
- Android from NAND (no WM).
- Windows Phone 7 in NAND.
- Windows Phone 7 in NAND, Android from SD Card.
There are also other choices like WM in NAND and Ubuntu from sdcard (via HaRET.exe), but those are most popular.
Cotulla said that he is working on a SD version of WM6.5, so if that gets released, you have have wp7 on NAND and WM65 on SD... but it may be a while before that gets released.
thank u so much ppl, ill be in touch with forum to check cotulla's progress
ps:zarathustrax r we ...somehow related ? hehehe (your nick)

LOL... yeah, the first 3 letters are the same. I took my nick from Nietszche's book, which I read a lot in my youth... then just added an X. Don't remember exactly why... I think I was going for something like Zarathustra-X, but didn't separate the X or capitalize it. I don't know exactly what I was thinking at the time... it was a few years ago.
As far as progress about WM65 for SD, cotulla probably won't give updates on progress... probably will just release it suddenly when it's done... if it even works out and he finishes it. It's probably not a high priority for him with all the other projects he's working on, especially now that he's working on magldr for the Rhodium, too. Hopefully we'll see it in the next few months though. I look forward to tribooting wp7, android and WM65.
Android + WM on NAND

No you can only have one OS at a time in NAND. One because of limited space in NAND and to you would have to parition it even if you did have enough space and I do not think you can partition the NAND memory of a device as it is not like a actual hard drive or SD card.

Grtz Orlandow. u can alway help me out true skype : steve.vanderstaaij - or msn [email protected]
Ok the problem is the ROM you want to use is a NAND ROM. You need to use a SD card build to dual boot Windows Mobile and Android or to dual boot Windows Phone 7 and Android. You need to go the the HD2 Android SD Development to download SD card builds for the HD2, these builds will have the two files you mentioned before. Also look into a dual boot app for Windows Mobile as it will make booting your Android build as easy as one or to touches, or you can set it to auto boot after Win Mo boots.
okeh sir i realy dont know wich one to get maby u could help me out. all i want is a dual booth. and a android software on my phone. could u provide me the links i need. please

Ok first off you need to check out this link it contains links to all kinds of info tat can be helpful. Next as far as what SD card build you want to use, that is really up to you. Me personally I would recomend American Android, Hyperdroid, or IceCreamTostiedroid. I personally like IceCreamTostiedroid ad American Android the best, but all three are very stable. And just in case you miss it some how when click on the first link in this post go here for a SD card Android guide, and here for links to Android SD loaders that you can use in Windows Mobile to boot Android from SD card. Hope this is helpful, ad don't forget the thanks button.
woaw thanks buddy it was realy easy man. all i had to do is update my rom the latest version from the oficial HTC site. and all i had to do is make a android map.
copy and paste click CLRCAD + Herat and let it run for 10 min. and it works. so for all ur HTC HD2 has the same version has i do. do what i do its realy simple
