[Q] legend wifi signal reception improvement - Legend General

is there any way to improve wifi signal reception ?

btw does radio have any thing to do with wifi reception or not?

2.2 seemed to have done the trick for me.

i have 2.2 rom right now... also tested other stock rom but still experiencing very weak wifi reception...

Ok, maybe it wasn't 2.2, it was probably Blay0's ROM that churned my reception up quite a bit. Although I don't think this is true: can a ROM influence wifi reception?

2.2 did improve my WIFI

The best answer is to sit next to the wifi. Try to not cover the antenna with your hand... the back cover.

I'm testing it right now, running on shubcraft 1.5 ppp. Signal is a lil better but battery life don't know yet. Have to run for a few more hours.

Yes, it's android friendly. I've noticed the signal is much better, I get signal in areas I never did before, but the battery drain is a bit higher than it was on 2.12.50.
I had major problems, like no signal, no data connection, slow speeds, dropping connections.
I went back to 2.12.50.2_2 which is the best for me.
Much better signals for me. Running FroyoStone SenseV2.
Battery drain is hard to tell, since it wasn't very good before.

I tried this new radio, I switched from 2.10 to 2.14. Before i used to get 6Ma in standby but after using 2.14 radio, I get 15Ma in standby. It drains the battery more than 2.10. I didn't have chance to test the reception.
I've tried the 2.14 Radio with the Core_Droid_V.0.3_PPP Android Build.
Signal is better than with the 2.12 Radio, but WIFI gives an error in Android.
Tried WIFI in WM6.5, works flawlessly there.
Is this because of my Android Build or do you guys experience the same problem?
yeah i read the new radio is better on reception but harder on the battery

I haven't had time to test the battery fully. To get an accurate reading it really needs to run all day from a full charge but froyostone sense v2 has CPU speed limitations built-in to help with battery life

it's been working better than .12 radio. better battery life, better data speed, same voice quality and not freezes at all. very happy with this radio. running LeoEvo version.
Radio 2.14 working well on bangsters 1.4 for me. It feels faster but may be a placebo effect. Definitely didn't do any harm.

It works very well for my two HD2s. In fact, I have not lost connection for the HSPDA since I flashed it in!

Best ROM with good WiFi?

Ok, having gone through 4 ROMs and trying my 5th, is it just a result of Android on the HD2 having really poor WiFi reception? Works well in WM, yet I can't get more than a 25% signal using android. Using WiFi analyzer, I get 80dBm right next to my router. Going 10 feet away, drops are constant. Anyone point me to a good ROM with decent WiFi? On the upside, I'm getting good at flashing!
Cheers

WIFI signal

I have the latest official 3.1 on my A500, and I get a somewhat weak wifi signal and I'm not even too far from the router approximately 10 meters 1 maybe 2 brick walls.
Is it possible to enhance the performance of the wifi receiver somehow?
Or is there a ROM which does that?
Thx
I am on the 3.1 with CWM and mentioned this in another forum but nobody else concurred.
I was sitting about 15-20 feet looking through glass getting a "good " signal.
My phone reported excellent and my wife's rooted Nook reported excellent.

Love my SGS2 but need your help

Hi Guys,
I have just moved from my iphone4 (well not completely) to an SGS2 which is my first dance with android.
Am quite happy with my purchase however am having some issues.
1) The phone gets warm at times. Sometimes too warm. Any of you facing that issue. Sometimes the screen is warm other times the area around the camera gets really warm.
2) I m not getting decent wireless coverage. In places around my house where I get 2 bars on my iphone, the SGS2 gets barely one. Which is very annoying considering the SGS2 is the best phone out there!
If anyone is facing the above issues and have been able to solve them, pls advise.
Thanks advance,
a2zt

I have come from an iPhone 4 too. Yes the phone does get very warm around the camera and screen in certain situations.
Wifi signal is pretty erratic, but speeds are the same as my iPhone. I just think the signal bars are not accurate.
You will also find that battery life is not as good either.
It's a great phone in all other respects and hopefully future updates will improve things
when its warm, i mean hot, the dual core cpu goes wild, no worries, its a safety feature built in, so you don't end up with a bunch of melted plastic in your hands
the wifi signal its strange, but not just on this phone, on every phone i have ever tested, ~250, i have seen this weirdness in action, in places where i get full signal on one phone, i get zero bars on another... so don't worry and try to connect to networks with at least 2 bars

allthough theres this big op bug on the sgs ii some of it is fixed in new roms.
Hopefully soon samsung will fix this
Also when it gets warm for no reason wifi sharing may be running also eating up my battery.
androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s2/365603-ridiculous-wi-fi-sharing-bug.html
Without rooting I use "osmonitor" app to detect when it is eating up the CPU making the phone warm and then I have to kill wifisharing manually.

From previous discussions, it seems the SGS2 and certain routers don't get along well. A couple of us with high-end Netgear's (N600/N750) seem to be getting excellent coverage. I get good signal through three stories of concrete with very little battery drain (one of the by-products of a weaker signal). I know you shouldn't have to replace your router to please your phone, but it's something to consider.
Thanks for the responses guys.
I am using Dlink E2000 router with an external antenna. Does that play nice with SGS2?
Any suggestions on which custom Rom I should try?

Yes multiple posts on this topic dont worry its dual core .

Bars do not measure signal strength use a proper measure like

Again multiple posts on the forum .
Custom rom you choose but rooting and custom rom voids warranty .
Villain rom for me at present .

I updated to the new XEU KF3 official ROM last night and it improved Wi-Fi strength for me noticeably.

[Q] Loving the nexus 4, tmobile reception is horrible, will rooting help me?

Hi I just got this phone and the reception is actually very good. I've moved and where I'm at no gsm phone gets any decent reception but the nexus 4 somehow does get a slight signal -113 to -107 db. If I root it are there options for me to increase the milliwatts to get better reception? Is there a case that is better for reception? If I leave it on a desk with the speaker on the signal is -107 but if I use my hand it drops to -113. Thanks
The only thing that alters reception, at least as far as software, is the radio version. You might try different radios. I doubt it will do much, though
The older radios don't drop data as often. As far as a better signal I don't see much of a difference

radio doesn't drop calls much I'm on .48 is there one that is considered better? Calls are more important to me that any other connections
When your on wifi or don't need data like at home have the phone use only 2g network. It has a much better reception I have to do this when I am home and on the main floor or basement and works well for me

increasing the milliwatts as you call it will increase power output. Thats for transmitting.
What you are asking is for receiving. Short of testing other radios, or using an external antenna there isnt much that can be done.
The only ways to improve your cell service are;
T-Mobile Cel-Fi Signal Boosters http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-4683
If you don't qualify, check out http://cel-fi.com/ or http://www.wilsonamplifiers.com/t-mobile/
or get a AT&T MVNO SIM card. Good service on a awful carrier is still better than awful service on a good carrier.
