Revert to CM7 RC2 kernel - Droid Incredible General

I have my incredible running CM7 RC2. I tried out incredikernel (2.6.37.4-incredikernel-gb-3182011). My battery is running way hot (set cpu was purchased but not even installed currently) and dying pretty quick. I had my phone fully charged at 9 AM, and the battery was at 40% by noon...I had barely even used it. How can I revert back to the kernel that comes with CM7 RC2 (I've seen plenty of suggestions on kernels...but nothing great on one- feel free to suggest if you'd like). THANKS!

Just reflash.

Yeah, but I have everything set exactly as I like it...and when I re-flash, I do a full restore, clear cache, wipe dalvik, and restore from titanium one at a time (when I don't do this way, it typically seem to lose wifi after a couple days and have to start all over again). Which is why I was hoping for a way to just download the CM7 RC2 standard kernel independently. Plus, with a re-flash my way, all my settings are lost- quite annoying. Perhaps I'm just doing way too many steps?

Just do a search for slayher#9. That's the kernel your looking for.

Thanks XDA

I want to start off by saying that I am a NOOB at this rooting and custom ROM stuff. I was getting ready to toss this Vibrant in the trash when I said to read up on rooting, follow the steps provided, and install a custom rom. XDA you have saved my phone. I want to thank all of you who provide all of the support here. I installed Bionix 1.3 and I am in shock at this phone now. GPS actually works in real time. The phone is superfast as well. The only issue I have is that I can't surf the web or check FB without my battery draining like 3-5% in a ten minute span. Its crazy. Battery does well in standby mode. Extremely well as a matter of fact. not sure why it drains so quickly when I actually use it. I have wiped the battery stats and done the battery cycle. Overall still love the new look. Keep em coming.
Glad you found a new appreciation for your phone through xda. As we all did.
Your issue is with the kernal used in 1.3. The OverStock kernel. I've had the same issue. Great life in standby 1% an hour vs on a vanilla kernel + voodoo 3-4% an hour drain. Whenever I have my screen on battery drain is insane. 30% increase with the screen on vs how it norally would be. I would recommend flashing ka7/kb1 + voodoo kernel. That should fix it right up.
2 things
Check and make sure there are not background apps engaged when using those apps (sounds like there may be)
Also if you want you can buy a 4g battery it is 1650 mah that will help. But I use my phone alot and Battery really not an issue anymore.
check your background apps see what is not necessary to run.
i believe Team Whiskey removed the OverStock kernel and replaced it with the regualar VooDoo kernel in Bionix-V 1.3.1....
Maybe you should try that....
I'm using Categorically Worthless kernel on Binix-V 1.3.1 and my battery life is great
I must say THANKS as well. Tried rooting yesterday but something went wrong, was on official 2.2 and couldn't get 3e-2e fix to work. Nearly bricked phone. Searched xda. Now rooted with Bionix v (not tw version). Loving this speed. Battery isn't an issue since I have a spare w/charger.

Go to team whiskey's website, register,go to forums look for shory's files near top of page download kb1+voodoo kernal and flash it w/clockwork ...that will overwrite the over clock kernal and give you much better battery life or you can just flash bionix 1.3.1,personaly i like 1.3 and i just switch back and forth between kb1 and overstock it only takes about 20 seconds to flash
Bionix-V 1.3 w/a Splash of Color
Thanks for the response everyone. Will flashing the kernel wipe everything? I will be doing a backup though clockwork anyway. I was just wondering..... Thanks.

No, it will just overwrite the kernal files, so your sd card and all that should be fine, but go ahead and get in the habit of making backups regularly. Trust me, it can happen.

[Q] Can anyone help? Massive battery drain with WiFi on (eViL-4G-HD-v.0.3.2)

I was gonna post this on the Development board but it appears that I'm not allowed to do so since this is my first post.
i've been using eViL-4G-HD-v.0.3.2 on my MT4G for a while. The battery life is great on this ROM when the Wifi is switched off (battery level down less than 10% within 9 hours' of standing by). However, as soon as the Wifi is turned on, the battery starts to be drained at a much faster pace (battery level down 50% with 9 hrs of standing by).
This is on a fresh install of the ROM, with none of the Google related applications to be configured. The only extra app I installed was SetCPU, in which i used the SmartAss profit.
For comparison, my wife's MT4G is using Gr8gorilla's ROM, which seems to be handling the battery farely well. She always leaves the wifi on and the phone only needs to be charged once every day.
Can anyone direct me to a solution on this? I really like eViL's ROM since it is stable and lightening fast.
Try using fauxs kernel. Newer wifi drivers and such. I haven't used that rom yet... but I would suspect a possible kernel issue. Make sure you wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing and read fauxs instructions to make sure you have the correct kernel.

Slow?
Try wiping /data, /dalvik, /system, /cache, /boot.
Then reflashing it.
Sometimes a fresh install is just what the doctor ordered.

What Matty said. A quick wipe of dalvik/cache always works. As far as roms, try kushdecks rom in the dev section, with the v6 supercharger. Freakin love this thing

That's what she said.
Optimized Sense(From HTC Evo 4G builds) Froyo will be faster than gingerbread aosp, especially if you clean out all the bloatware(pretty much anything with HTC and Sprint in the app title, and other stuff). I'm on Myn's RLS5 and it's snappy, and I have setcpu 128-1152 conservative with toned down advanced settings to improve battery. Netarchy 4.3.4 CFS nohavs sub nosbc. My battery life is superb considering the usage I've gotten out of the 16 hrs 18 minutes with 5% battery left. 5hrs 10 minutes display-on time and an hour of plants vs zombie, and a few phone calls and texts, and BeejiveIM on 3G the ENTIRE time. No GPS, no 4G, no BT, just 3G radio used. This is right after a batterystats wipe at 100% charge.

Anyone with CM7 getting random reboots still?

Just wondering if you had random reboot issue and then it stopped after flashing cm7? Thanks
I am and it's getting really annoying

Have you flashed a different kernel? Or are you over clocked or undervolted? I was getting randome reboots because I was undervolting incorrectly. I am now running Faux's latest .2.0 1.3ghz kernel and have had no reboots.
I get them on rare occasions .... but I'm experimenting with UV ... not frequent enough for me to pinpoint an issue or to be annoyed by it. Last time occurred after after doing a system setting.
I dont get random reboots anymore, cm7 and last faux kernel at stock 1.0ghz fixed it.
I've been on CM7 for a week and no reboots.
been running it for 2 weeks or so. Had one minor glitch yesterday with my device when I locked the screen- she wouldnt wake back up and had to battery pull. Other than that, no issues. I am running Faux's 0.2.0 Stock CM kernel as well.
I had one reboot on my Atrix since running CM7. Compare that with several a week on the stock Motorola software. Using whatever kernel shipped with CM7. Overall, a great improvement!

not really random but does anyone else get
a reboot if you leave the torch on to long? It may be a known issue I haven't looked but it seems to happen to me every time..

It could be due to something not getting flashed right. Depending on what rom/fruitcake/etc is flashed, not all images are replaced. That's by design, because the good ol' fashioned SBF flashes EVERYTHING, which you really don't always need, and can be potentially dangerous. Assuming something got corrupted somewhere, or there's an older version of part "x" that doesn't like to play with the never version of part "y", that could cause a crash. You might want to look at a safe way to get a clean wipe, and then redoing CM7. I'm not suggesting SBFs or anything. But I'd check out samcripps' Fruit Cakes @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163009 though.

R: [ROM][4.2.1] Official Cm10.1 monthly for Nexus S & Nexus S 4G
any feedback?
i flashed this rom over xylon rom, based on cm10.1
no issue or problem.
I'm on this ROM from yesterday (full wipe), with stock CM kernel.. no issues so far.. Only one Trebuchet FC, but probably was my fault..
BatteryLife seems normal, no drain etc..
Everything work good, and smooth enough for a 4.2 rom.. but too many animation ...
I give you some feedback using this ROM as my daily driver..
Put the M release on last night. Using marmite 7.2.3. Works well, smooth and battery life seems ok.
Installed it straight over the top of the CM 10.1 nightly i was on.
Will try marmite 7.3 sometime soon, but had a few issues with that for battery life on the recent nightlies.
Many thanks for this ROM CM people.
Just as an aside, i had a horrible time with the phone over the last few days. Not sur what happened but it wouldn't boot past the bootloader, and somehow i lost the recovery (TWRP). Had to go back to the factory 4.1 version and rebuild the lot from there. Then it all happened again.
Finally worked out why, apart from me being an idiot. I had used Titanium Backup to load apps and settings back after an update, and they were backups of 4.2 apps, not 4.1. So, rebuilt from scratch on 4.1, got a nandroid backup of that. then built from scratch on a CM10.1 nightly from December that i knew was good and reinstalled all apps and settings manually. Much cursing and gnashing of teeth.
battery drain is very very slow.
I lost only 2% after 9h in stand-by mode. with others roms ithe minimun was 6%.
Keep in mind that this is the first 4.2 ROM i've installed:
I'm facing the AndroidOS 50% battery drain sometimes... Yesterday this value was 45-50%; today, after a full charge and a reboot, the value is 7-10% (Stock CM Kernel)..
I've noticed that even with other ROMs and Kernels on 4.1.. probably it is related to apps installation and first launch.. so not a real issues...
Two minor "aesthetic-personal-issues":
- "clear all recent apps" is in the top-right corner, totally invisible when more than 3 apps are running, hope CM team will set it on the top left or leave the decision to user...
- sometimes is hard to know if some "toggle" in user bar are ON, OFF or inactive (like WiFi On but not connected, Gps etc).. probably this needs some work2do to clarify the behaviour of this tiles... or maybe it is just personal taste...
And I hope that in future they add the option to set 4 or 5 tiles per rows in user bar...
Battery life is not different from CM10 or other 4.1 ROMs...
I just had a literal nightmare with this rom. While I was just swiping through the desktop with the phone charging suddenly everything started to black out. What was scary was how gradual it was happening i almost thought my phone is going to explode now or something lol. Didn't help the fact that I was using the phone at night in pitch darkness.
Took out the battery immediately and rebooted just fine for now. I updated from cm 10 stable without wipe as i was prompted for an ota update.

same happened to me, but without the charger and stock CM kernel... Now I'm testing Marmite 7.3 and everything work good...
I think that this is related to some background operation that slow down the device..
