[Q] Application backup/restore. - EVO Shift 4G General

I came from a hero running cyanogen6 I flashed many roms and nightlies while using the hero. If I remember correctly when I would factory reset to install a fresh Rom my Google account would automatically re-download the apps I had previously downloaded.
It was my understanding this was a standard feature of 2.2. But my shift does not do this.
So my question is "what is up?"
was this just a feature of cm6?
Is my phone the only one that doesn't do this?
Somebody set me straight on this issue, as it makes switching roms much more work.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App

Htc took it out. It's a feature of aosp 2.2 and above.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App

Well that was an easy answer.
So if I use an asop Rom it should auto download?
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App

Yeah but probably not to what you were on your past aosp rom, but maybe what you got now.

Depends on the gapps ver.
On my heroc I kept two sets of gapps, one full and one tiny. They restored entirely different sets of apps everyime I flashed (for some reason, I just picked one randomly every day for about 3 1/2 months, loved aospMod.)
Sent from my MikShift.

All I know is this worked when I came from the semi stock rom that I was using as my daily driver.

The only Shift ROM I've experianced this on is Evervolv. I believe CM7 should do this too but it's either not implemented for the Shift yet or not working.

Have you tried a cache/davlik cache wipe in your recovery? Another option is to download cache mate from the market which will also clear a lot of app caches...

When changing from one rom to another, make sure you do a full wipe of your device
Are you using amon_ra and if so did you wipe cash and dav?

Alright, I would just recommend reflashing the whole entire rom.
1. Boot into recovery and do a full wipe, this includes your whole phone. (Data, Cache and Dalvik.
2. Flash the rom file again
You should be good after that, if you didnt do a full wipe before flashing the rom that can cause some problems esp. if you came from fresh.
Hope this helps.

And as far as the "lag" you are speaking of, it is hard to tell why that would be. Another option after reflashing is to flash a custom kernel whichh would help you gain better battery life and should cut down on the lag. However, the Htc #17 kernel that comes in Myn's rom isnt bad either. The only problem with flashing custom kernels is flashing the one that will work best for you, and many times this depends on your hardware version.

I think its the kernel,I had the same problem with the stock and ziggys kernel but netarchy works great with no lag.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I was running Juice Defender with the Stock kernel, and noticed lag a day or two after booting when the phone was waking up a number of times. I began considering which kernel to flash to rid myself of this nuisance, but then disabled all my in-process apps. (Juice Defender and System | Monitor) No lag now, zippy as hell. I did the same with SetCPU on the r4 beta or r3.
Oh, and battery appears to be just the same without these things and my settings.

[Q] HTC sense issues!

Anyone else having problem's waking up the screen when receiving phone calls? Or default ringtones continuously ringing without pausing? I love the rom,but this can be quite frustrating. On the other hand, cyanogenmod has been flawless for me.
I don't know exactly which ROM you're running, but I have the DZ running the stock Sense ROM, and I don't have those issues.

Sorry to hear that, I'm runnung the same ROM, no complaints so far, if in doubt you could always do a fresh install
Try using the pershoot kernel thats what i did and now the problem is gone =)
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Others using the same rom have experienced the same thing. Some believe its because of set CPU setting for screen off or the kernal. Check out the roms thread and search it. You'll find some tips that have helped others contain the problem.

All is well.
I actually ended up flashing the pershoot kernel and it worked like a charm. No problems since(sense). Thx 2 every 1 for their suggestion's.

Miui in English and compatible?

I just tried the Miui rom real quick and i loved it! But it's unusable bc the camera doesn't work and some things are still in chinese. So does anyone know if there's a updated version? Or can someone suggest a rom that's similar, i love the idea of no apparent drawer like the iphone. Any ideas? Thanks

You need to head to MIUI developers and download one of the past three or so versions of the ROM. I'm running the 12.31 latest, but I think the 12.11 was my favorite.
MIUI-Devs I'd also recommend running it with one of the Savage Kernels.
Yea I ran the 12.11 and the 12.24. I preferred the 12.11 also, seemed all around more smooth and fluid. Went back to cm6 though. Overclocked, its just so fast, smooth and better!

Blandroid on N1

I just noticed, blandroid rom on the rom manager menu, has anyone tried it on N1? I'm using cm7 Rc4 and I know you'll all say stick with it, but I'm still curious.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I noticed it a couple of weeks ago. It says it's a stable 2.3.3 with no bloatware. Sounds very intriguing...in fact so much so that I downloaded it, but have yet to flash it...lol.
Certainly tempting isn't it, is this a case of who goes first lmao, out of interest how big is it? I notice the cm7s are just over 80 mb.

Seems like a plain stock ROM, nice to see to be honest.
Noticed the same thing, but was wondering what all it supports, site doesn't say much. I.E. what kernel it has/supports, TB alert stuff like that.
Hopefully the dev comes and explains what all he's done.
Well, I flashed it, for like an hour then when back to cm7 using the recovery I made.
First thing, market didn't work.
Secondly it didn't have the extra apps cm7 has, which I expected, but I instantly missed theme chooser.
Thirdly it wiped my contacts list.

First. The market issue is probably a wipe issue as I had the same problem with two different MIUI GB ROMs.
Secondly. That would be the lack of bloatware mentioned above. It's like stock android, so not sure why you even flashed it if you wanted bloatware.
Thirdly. It didn't wipe your contact list you didn't sync with google, becaue all of your contacts are backed up there.
You know what, I knew that'd be the replies I got, to be honest I'm curious of any rom that 1might increase battery life, currently using 85% over 10hours!! And of course the dreaded wonk which is seemingly inherent with cm7.
I couldn't force Google to sync with my phone, all my contacts are stored with Google you're right there.
Btw how would I get the market back?

I think it is another keyboard app. When you go to change the keyboard, it lists something in all Asian symbols.
I just deleted it and I have not noticed any difference with how blandroid runs.
The wonk was almost fixed on latest release of cm7. If you don't have the latest version, try it.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Nearly fixed isn't fixed. The problem is really dragging out and these stock ROMs are showing that its fixed with them. Wonking isn't the only issue at the moment either. There is still problems with the sound levels after docking the phone sometimes where its maximum level is halved etc.
CM is an ace project and I truly respect the guys and their efforts behind it, but CM7 is very buggy, and when it starts to affect the ability to take calls its hard to use it.
Oh! Thx for the reply. I got scared and ran back to cm7

What sort of battery life do you get and is there good support from the Dev?
I could go for no wonk
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I like!
Went for this until the CM stable kills the wonk; now I may not go back. I haven't used it for long enough to know about stability. I think of it as pure AOSP, but already rooted (and a just a few essential CM goodies).

So far, I haven't found anything missing I need.
And if you want a bit more eye candy and customization, just install launcher pro or adw.launcher from the market.
I give it thumbs-up!

[Q] Stay awake while charging available?

I used stay awake while charging while my phone plays music all night at work. No Vibrant rom I've tried has the option. On my G2 and every other phone I've had in the debugging options there was an option to stay awake while charging... any way to get that on the Vibrant?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Probably because you'll burn your screen in with this option. I wouldn't recommend it.
There's such an option on Vibrant, Can't recall where I found it though.
Settings>Applications>Development>Stay Awake
Im on the latest Trigger, but I know for a fact its been there since I bought my Vibrant.
