[Q] Usiing a Powerpoint Clicker to click through slides on Xoom? - Xoom General

Quick question I have Documents to Go paid version but i cannot get a clicker to work on the slides. Ive tried all the Office programs in the market and haven't had any luck yet The Xoom works great for on the go presentations but having to walk over to the device and flip the slide takes a lot of time during a presentation with tons of people watching.
Thanks for the help!

I'm curious about this too. I just ordered my XOOM and need to use it to teach with. I hope their is someway to make this work!

bluetooth keyboard perhaps? Or, a correctly mapped wii remote?

I wonder if I could install the Android Server Remote. Then use my phone to connect through the wifi and do it that way?

Anyone?

Remote control for TV/MCE/etc on the 6800?

Anyone been able to fine a remote control app for the 6800? Just something that (preferably) uses IR and can control my laptop with Vista MCE installed? I tried many different remote control apps and haven't got 1 to work, none of them so far are compatible.
IR is almost useless unless you're very close to the device... so close, in fact, that it would be easier to actually use the device you're trying to control.
There are many apps that can be used over bluetooth or over IP (which are both far better than IR).
There was an article I read about this once from Pocket PC mag which went into detail on this subject, and lists all the options. I don't have the exact address, but if you look around you should find it.

Really, have they lowered the IR power in recent devices? I used to run a remote control app in my e330 Toshiba Pocket PC and it worked better than the real remote I had. Even worked from a room away... I'd change the channel and my roomates wouldn't know what was hitting them... since they were sitting on the couch with the remote .

The ir in my treo 600 only worked from 3 feet away. That was a waste of time. Haven't even thought about rc programs since. Like Dishe said, if you're that close, you might as well just use the buttons on the front of the device; or use the original remote.
i've been looking for a remote control ir program that can control tv, dvd player, etc. with a 6800. but no luck yet, anybody know of one?
Buy a Universal Remote
remote
i too have been looking for a program i could use as a remote control, i had novii on my 6700 and it worked great (fun messing with the guys at the fire station) but i haven't been able to get anything to work on the 6800!
im interested in this too.... hmmm keep me posted
I think I found the software you were looking for while browsing a different forum.
Its call NoviiRemote
http://www.novii.tv/pocketpc/deluxe/
Quoting the user guide:
NoviiRemote Deluxe turns your Pocket PC into a Universal Learning Remote Control!
You can control all of your home entertainment equipment with one easy-to-use program.
Search for it at mobilecastle.biz
novi remote doesnt work for the 6800. well not for me. But i havent tried the deux version. But it gave me an error about ir not being present or something.
has anyone tried this software?
http://www.pocketgear.com/en_US/html/display_product.jsp?id=prod5670730
I just haven't had much time to play with it
Noviremote works real well if you have the sd card antenna
Otherwise it's a waste of time. Now if Moviremote could come up with a new MICRO SD card slotted antenna...
Indeed,
Novi Doesn't Work, Neither Does Vito Remote
it says "Device has unsupported processor: MSM7500-400Mhz"
so i rly think theres something different about the 6800/mogul's IR that the programs are not yet compatible with :-(
Theres another program ive tried on the 6800 as-well, that didn't work....
though the name of the prgram escapes me @ the time.
try NetRemote.. Haven't tried it yet on my 6800, but worked like a champ on my Axim x51v
I've tried VNC, Niveus PocketRemote, novi, PPC Tablet, none of them run or run well.
i'm going to try rudeo tonight
haven't tried highpad Media Control
Found one maybe
I was able to install this on my Titan and it seems to work but have not yet seen it work since I can't find my tv codes - but at least it seems like it might work. It does not "learn" codes from other remotes unfortunately (unless I missed something) but if you can determine the code for your TV it just might work.
Please let me know if you can get this to actually control a device from your Titan
Thanks for this! This is the one thing I miss from my Palm days. heck when the dog ate my $100 remote I was able to go to a store, learn all of the custom codes for my Home Theater and have all of it workin again. Univiersal remotes never to stuff like allow you to change CDs in a 3cd player and other stuff like that even if you try all of the pre-programed choices for that vender...
Please keep us up to date with your findings. I'm gonna try that Nevo cab.

I have transfered files from my Titan to another Titan from up to six feet away so the IR is not really that weak, from what I have read at another thread is the IR on the Titan the uses a different technology, so honestly it doesn't looks good I spend a good time researching on this and another forums with no luck.

Wii remote for controller?

I was thinking of an easier way to play games on my titan/mogul. So i thought hey, the wii remote uses blue tooth right??
Well, the phone found it, and added it. The first passcode was null. But then it asks for a secure connection from the wiimote to the phone and asks for a passcode, but null and 0000 doesn't work. Any ideas? I doubt it would be that easy to get it to work...
But how about if someone could whip up a program so we can get wiimote functionality onto the ppc platform? Wouldn't that be cool? At least better than using the keyboard for games.
Let me know what you guys think.
Did you try no passkey? Apparently from what I have read the WII does not require a passkey, to get it working in Windows you just click skip pairing, not sure if that is an option on WM5 or 6. It should be identified as an HID and I am not sure if you need drivers or not, from what I read it will work in Windows as a mouse or as a controller with drivers that others have made. Hope that helps.
Good idea!!
I'll try to see if I can't get this to work when I get home tonight.
yep i did!
From the phone, i started searching for a new device
on the wii controller, i pressed the sync button
the phone finds the "Nintendo RVL-CNT-01 "
I select it to add as a wireless input device and it asks for a passcode, i leave it blank and hit ok
The phone then says nintendo rvl-cnt-01 is trying to connect, allow? and i click yes and it asks for a passcode
And that's as far as i can get. I am wondering if the drivers on PCs are to connect it, or allow to function as whatever. I am guessing whatever because bt should connect regardless of driver support, no?
Anyhow, let me know what else you guys think we can do.
thanks for your input

This thread has the announcement of the project. It is real, but it apparently wont surface until June.
*Edit* Whoa, apparently that post was last year. So......Maybe it IS dead lol.
Another post about it:

After looking at the project page, I saw this post:

The developer has released it to the public so the source is all there. I would mess around with it if I had more experience. I'm very interested in this though. All I want is to be able to use my wiimote to play ppc games/emulators. I don't need motion controls. Just button mapping and that's it. There's gotta be somebody out there that can figure this out.
anyone have any news on this front?
So any update on this? I tried to get the Wiimote with my laptop, but it still wouldn't work. I'd love to get it on my Tilt.

This dude uses it as a mouse on his laptop so...

TP2 as a Remote keboard??

Hi,
I was thinking to buy a Logitech dinovo keyboard for my HTPC
http://ces.cnet.com/i/bto/20080104/lifestlyerichblog_540x360.JPG
... but then I wounderd if there is any application for WM6.5 that could use bluetuth to control a PC keybord.
I know i could use RDP client on my phone but then I get the screen on the phone as well..
I just want to use my TP2 as a keyboard remote to a Win7 PC with wifi or bluetouth..
Is this possible, does it exist a program for this?
Look for gremote .cab or also nueUSBKeyboard.
Both of these are located in this thread under Utilities. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550973
I have tried the latter and it is what it is...just a keyboard through USB. Gremote I gave a shot...but was having trouble getting my Bluetooth to work on my PC...my issues not the program.
Touch Pro 2 as remote BT Keyboard
I saw an app (believe it or not) on the Windows Mobile Marketplace for $1.99
called MobileRemote that does exactly what you are looking for including mouse functions.
It uses BlueTooth to connect as an HID Keyboard.
It's from MobileSRC.
Cheers
You might look into GRemote, it does everything. However, just at tip, if you buy any keyboard software that uses Bluetooth, make sure you test the trial version first. I know quite a few of the mouse/keyboard programs don't work on the Rhodium because of the Widcomm Bluetooth stack used instead of the Microsoft Bluetooth stack.
Wow, Thanks everybody!!
Now I have some things to tryout in the weekend..
Cheers!
Gremote works best over WiFi. I use it daily on my media center and love it. I'm planning on buying the paid version soon.
BRETT
I love GRemote, but it's sad that the computers that I'd use them on the most (work and school PCs) don't allow me to install the necessary software!
Wow Gremote was everything I wanted!
Works great with XMBC and Aeon skin
Thanks!
Ah man..u guys suck..now I gotta try wifi with gremote
gremote is working over wifi...however I cannot use any of the menus or settings on host PC. Is this a Trial limitation or something wrong with the install?
I can open settings program from taskbar...but nothing further.
wifi on my TP2 to a Win7 x64 works fantastic.... Playing around for some hour and now a get use to use it like a normal mouse.
one thing that is anoying is that gremote on the tp2 always turn on BT,, cant find any way to disable it
I am using it to type and tether. I can feel the waves killing my brain cells but, it feels good. lol I might have to fork up the 14 bucks to pay for the full service just to get the annoying demo message to go away. now if only I could get it to work on my Xbox 360. hmmmm jk
the app rocks!
oh... but i did find one problem. when typing using hardware keyboard; I can't seem to get the touchpad to work. or any of the control buttons. "DEL, TAB, CTRL, ALT" anyone know what is up with that?

[Q] keyboard and touchscreen as mouse for remote controlling pc? >not remote desktop<
Hello,
I'm a total noob regarding to software for WM6.5, but i wondered, is there some kind of program that allows me to use my phone's keyboard and touchscreen as keyboard / mouse for my desktop? Would be nice for my plasma tv with desktop connected to it..
Thanks in advance.
Bouke
I use this
I use GRemote. It's a client-server program. One part runs on your PC, the other on your WM or Android phone. I think there's a free and a Pro version, not sure, might just be the paid version (which I have) and it's *AWESOME*, I use it just like you'd mentioned - I have my PC hooked up to my HDTV as a HTPC/media center, and I can use my phone as a trackpad, air/gyro mouse, hardware keyboard, media remote, generic remote, and gyro joystick/racing wheel/etc for gaming. It can connect over WiFi or BT. I don't want to sound like I'm going to marry it or anything but it is a pretty awesome program. The media remote functions work with Winamp, WMP, XBMC, VLC, others.
EDIT: Sorry, got so hot and bothered talking about the program, forgot to mention the website. It's at gbmsoftware dot com.

Yeah got it to work new rom did the job, latest energyrom running my tp2.
Really great program, just the features i was looking for a long time.. Tough the connection is a bit laggy, or is this because it's just the demo version?
Yep! pretty nice.

Thanks!!

Use N1 as touchpad for PC running VNC

I am looking for an app that will allow me to use my N1 as a basic touchpad for my PC running VNC. I hap an app for my iPad that did just this, but I had to sell my iPad. It worked flawlessly, had multitouch gestures for scrolling, forward/back, etc. The app for my iPad was free, and I'm hoping to find one that is free for Android as well. I've done a lot of searching, and all I can find are apps that $3+ or ones that require some other server side software and don't work with VNC. I was recently fired from my job of ten years and my right hand is broken(I'm right handed BTW) so free is preferable, I'd be willing to pay $1.00 even. I don't need keyboard support, just mouse with buttons, drag/drop, multitouch would be nice too. My phone is rooted and running CM7, if that helps any.
Not sure about compatability with VNC, but Gmote works pretty nicely though you do have to install SW. I have a HTPC in my bedroom and sometimes it is just easier to control using my phone when lying down.
Saw that, it doesn't use VNC. Whatever I'm looking for needs to be using VNC.
gmote 2.0 works pretty well, you just have to install a server on your computer which is pretty easy. in-app instructions are given after you dl it from the market.

As I stated in the OP and my last reply, I don't want to install another piece of software. I want to use VNC. If it was done on iOS device for free, then it's bound to exist for Android as well for free or cheap.

lllullzz i just asked him about the exact same thing two posts above haha
Have you tried Gmote? (sorry, couldn't resist. It is really good though)
I haven't really found anything that doesn't require additional software on top of your VNC software. The closest thing I can think of would be another VNC program. I personally use android-vnc-viewer which works great, but again it's just a straight VNC program.
why would you want to do it via vnc that transmits video when you can use gmote and send the mouse co-ordinated via touchpad directly to the server running on the computer, seems like ur buy the tea factory just for 1 cuppa

I don't want full video of my desktop, this is the app I had on my iPad that did just what I'm asking for here. I thought it was free, but I guess I had forgoten that it wasn't. In any case, it made my iPad into a grey surface that I could use with my PC like a touchpad, but it worked via VNC.
Hey, have you tried Gmote? I use it as home and it works pretty well.

So I broke down and tried gmote, it sucks, lags badly, no multitouch. I saw other apps that have multitouch, but I'm still back to the fact that I don't need some other piece of crap running in the background just for this when I know it can be done with VNC. If it can be done on iOS, I know it can be done on Android, just wish I were a programer so I could do it myself.

Unified Remote
You could try the 'Unified Remote' app for Android (but it requires a server-side application to run on the PC).
The touchpad part works awesomely, and Unified Remote will work via Bluetooth or Wifi/3G.
There are also 'plugin' remotes that work for other situations, like Youtube remote, Windows Media Player remote, keyboard, VLC remote, etc...
I can't remember where I heard it from but I heard gmote works good.
