Amazon App Store - Atrix 4G General

It looks like the amazon app store is not compatible with att devices... Any ideas on a workaround?

I have successfully used the amazon store. The apk is available on androidforums. I downloaded it, sent it to myself via email and installed it.
My phone is rooted and has side loading enabled.

I just downloaded Angry Birds Rios. I think it works.

Also does not work in Canada. Damn you geographical restrictions.

The incompatibility lies in that ATT has disabled 3rd party applications. If our phones had the "unknown sources" checkbox in settings this would not be a problem. The simple solution is to root and enable sideloading.

You can also use AC Sideload Wonder or adb.

You can do that to install the Market itself, but when you try to install something from the market you need the root/sideloading enabled cause you don't get the apk file (that i'm aware of) to use Ac Sideload to push it.

Seach in this forum for SuperOneclick root.

I would go with aRoot found HERE over SuperOneClick. That will give you root plus sideloading and it is a cleaner install then SuperOneClick.

Here's a link below to the '.apk' file for the Amazon App Store.

The APK from amazon themselves:
http://amzn.to/getappstore

If you are not root you can still download the app from the appstore. It will fail to install. Then go to the files app and internal sd card. The actual apk that you downloaded that failed to install is saved in the cache directory of the appstore which is in the data folder on the internal sd card. Copy this apk to your PC then sideload it with adb and you will have the file installed and still linked to your appstore.

Just ran aRoot (took several tries on my XP laptop) and installed the Amazon App Store succesfully. Angry Birds Rio is up and running too. My 4 yr old son will be pleased .

I had an Inspire 4G which I sent back and I am waiting now for my Atrix to come. the Inspire had the sideload blocked by ATT but a work around was to put the phone in Airplane mode and use wifi when going into the ApStore. This opened up all the apps that ATT had blocked and could be then sideloaded. I don't know if it will work on the Atrix though.

Just tried using airplane mode with wifi and it does indeed show the blocked att apps in the market. I have sideloading enabled so I am not sure whether or not someone could install them w/o sideloading

Aroot is much nicer and requires less work.

after installing the amazon app store the apps downloaded through it go to
internal phone storage/Android/data/com.amazon.venezia/cache
installing those apps through adb works perfectly

[Q] ryanza's one click lag fix, i need it

does anybody have ryanza's one click lag fix. i need a copy of it, and its not in the market.
Search the development section there are many posts related to it. There also is an app on the market just search for one click lag fix.
Is root needed?

the one downloaded from the market has rooting capabilities built in. check it out. i rooted mine beforehand so can't verify how well the market OCLF works.
One click lag fix from market is a must have app . It'll root, unroot, lag fix and unlag fix. Just the ****.
Really could not find this app by searching? Really?

if i used the ADB version of ryan's lagfix and install this app, will it still work to unlagfix, etc?
dont want to **** anything up ... thoughts?
just installed it and checked, looks like unless the app has done the fix, it cant undo it.
all i can do is:
install ext2 tools
check data/data free space
unroot device 2.1
change scheduler

same with mine when i tried to install it.. you need to have 40% of battery or more in order to install the lag fix, at least that's what happened to mine..
charge it up then install it..
Did your first boot take like five minutes? Really thought I bricked my phone, but it finally booted.the reason I ask here is because another guy in the main thread had that same issue but was ignored. Boot takes at least 60 seconds of black screen before the boot animation loads..

Your next step is to install ext2 tools. then, the option to apply the lag fix will be enabled. two more steps and you're done.
When you install the OCLF app, you have to create a partition. When you undo the lag fix, does it undo the partition you made? Or, would you have to undo everything AND uninstall the whole app?
I think the partition created when installing this is causing a problem with titanium backup (it's backing up to my internal SD instead of the external SD card). I want to work backwards for a second and see if that indeed is the problem, but I don't know how to modify or even verify existing partitions.
Yeah I thought I was going to faint waiting fit my phone to boot up..

I've been bothered by Google Voice not working since I got my Xoom on launch day, but have been using the web portal... Until now.
I loaded up my Droid, backed up Google Voice+settings with Titanium Backup, restored it on my Xoom and it came up without doing the setup, since it already had my account settings installed. It force closed the first time but I noticed an error in the notification area... Error was asking for permission to use that email address as my Google Voice account, I accepted, re-launched Google Voice and success, full app, working as it would on the phone. Gives notifications and everything.
Enjoy!

Latest version of the free TB, whatever version that is...
There's no directory in there that starts with a .(at least, according to ls -a, I don't have Root Explorer on here, using terminal), there is a com.google.android.apps.googlevoice directory with all the subdirectories and such though.
I can't get busy box to install. I'm rooted, but it's saying my NAND is locked or it wasn't able to remount.
[edit] nevermind. I guess it didn't like that I was plugged into my computer and didn't have the debug mode on. Strange.

You can just install it as a normal apk, that way you can revert back to the previous market, or if you have titanium backup, once you install it normally, use the integrate update into rom function.
Simple
Thanks for the share, able to install as like a normal app. I can see speed improvements as well as some extra settings like auto update apps

Installed like a charm. Working quite nicely too.
Also, For those who dont wish to go through the hassle of assiging permissions. Not that it is hard, that is the best part. But for those afraid to break something I have an an alternative method of installing, you can install the update apk as a regular app and use Titanium Backup to convert to a "user app" and reconvert it to a "system app" and the update will be applied into the system. Please note this is only for owners of Titanium Backup PRO. And I also recommend making a backup of your current market file. Can never be too safe

Yeah, that's what your host file should have in it. Not sure why there was something else there. My only guess is that you installed a none Google play app that messed with it (I would say don't use that app, it's up to no good).

How to remove annoying fullscreen google ads?

Just recently, I've been getting fullscreen google ads pop up on my phone. This usually happens when I hit the back button out of an app. An example of the fullscreen ad is shown below:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
I've done a bit of searching online and haven't found a fix other than deleting all third party apps and gradually reinstalling apps one by one seeing if they're the one causing the ads to pop up. This seems a bit time consuming! Does anyone here know what's causing these ads and how to remove them?
Much thanks in advance!

Adaway helped me get rid of all these ads. (Though, it was pre-installed in my previous ROM).

Try to find some guides on Google to get this application. If you're so annoyed by these ads and you want to get rid of them (if you didn't find a way how to install previously), maybe you should consider flashing a custom ROM which has Adaway pre-installed?
First fix your root issue and then try this :

But soon as it opens it's still showing up even tho I didnt even downloaded any app on my fone. I'm thinking maybe it's because of our wifi? I really don't know. Pls help
You could be affected by malware that grants itself root. Best thing to do is to start over again, by restoring the stock ROM to your phone using Odin, and from there customizing your device.
