i had the same problem today, you can still write sms to your friends via contacts, then then the person and then write sms.
Btw there was an update today, perhaps it'll fix it, i am just downloading it right now.

I've had my HD2 Since December and only recently started using it to write emails. I only connect to my hotmail account through windows live, I do not have an outlook account or similar.
I'm having a big problem with email formatting, does anyone else have the issue of emails being sent on only 1 line?
For example say I write: -
Dear Mr. X,
Thanks for your message.
Regards,
Mr Y.
The person the other end (including myself if I BCC myself) regardless of device, receives it like this
Dear Mr.X,Thanks for your message.Regards,Mr.Y.Sent From My HTC
Any ideas why this is happening?
If i write a brand new email it doesn't happen, its only when replying to someone. Also the email looks fine on the phone screen before sending.
Also is there a way of keeping sent emails in the sent folder liek happens for text messages? They seem to dissapear straight away once sent and I find it really annoying.
Is this Just another one of the many bugs with the HD2

'Hey #Guys!
I have a huge problemĀ° I cant send SMS aanymore...
What could that be?!*
Recieving works like a charm, only sending fails?!
I am on o2 in Germany... ServiceCenter-Number is correct.. and the +49 doens't work neither nor!
I have the same issue. However I am in the US on AT&T. The problem seems to be related to replying. When I reply it appends a zero to the beginning of the number. If I type in the number manually, it works fine.

I understand... I am just wondering why it worked the other day! Then I had a freeze, I put out the battery and wooza sudenly my sd card was kinda formatted... only a readme file was left... I installed everything the same on the same way I did before my phone crashed... same build and everything,, but now it ain't working anymore... Is there any app to send sms anyways? In
I did a bit more investigation. I think replying to an SMS is putting a 0 where the + should be so instead of +1214-345-6789 it's trying to reply to 0214-345-6789
AT&T is choking on the zero.
See my setup below and see if you're running something similar.
BTW, it works fine in WinMo.
I got the same problem, anyone solved this? Im in desperate help please, i cant send sms anymore,,,
Any help? Please

this is the last time I will ask for help here in this thread before I create a new thread....(SELF CLAIMED SEARCH POLICE BETTER SHUT THEIR MOUTHS)
Anyone, help me?
Same Problem here, are you Using HTC-Sense? I've tried the 001 Fix but that just fixes the calls, and I think its gets rid of the + in replying in sms, as I get message saying failed cant send numbers to 44, as its needs the "+"44 to reply.
the only work around is to compose a new sms, but its longer way to reply, but it works.
I can't even send new sms.....but making phone calls is working for me...
I'm using desire hd build..

I am having trouble text messaging my mom because the phone is adding +1 to the beginning of her phone number. The text message never goes thru. When I send the text message by typing in the number it sends fine.the problem is only when I select the contact from list. The contact list does not have the +1 in it so I don't know where it is coming from

Yea, i actually sat on the phone with verizon tech support for 2+ hours while they debugged this issue, turns out for some reason the +1 breaks it.. they never gave me an explanation, only a fix. Take the +1 out of the contact and make sure its saved and synced, you also need to nuke your message history after making the change or new messages will still have the +1 in front of them.

I tried taking it out of the contact # and killed the message history but still not working

I have the same problem...I don't get why this phone was released with so many bugs....I'm about to go get an Incredible
I had the same issue and was waiting for someone else to have this problem too. Removing the +1 on your phone contacts won't sync it completely it seems so once google syncs on your phone again the +1 will return. So what I ended up having to do is going on gmail on my pc and deleting all the +1 contacts in there. That did the trick right away. Hope this helps

I tried clearing my contact and messaging data and now I lost all my contacts and I can't re sync then from facebook or google

Its not that...iv tried everything to fix it..even completely erased all contacts and added just the problem number and still doesn't work...cleared all recent info and sms removed sync completely...nothing works

same thing happened to me (sending a text to AT&T) - had to remove the 1 from all my contacts via GMAIL.
Now fixed
Strange. I don't have any issues like this.
I did have the same issue as the op described, but I think the ota update fixed it or the clean rom posted in the development forum corrected the messaging app. It definitly has something to do with the messaging app since when I installed handcent sms all my messages worked without the +1 being added.

I had the same problem and fixed mine..here are the steps I took.
Log into Gmail on your computer, go through all your contacts and take out the +1 as well as the dashes 123-456-7890 to 1234567890 and save that. I then did a factory reset for my phone. Everything works great now.
I think when you have a GSM service they use the + symbol
I had this same problem. When I got my phone the text messaging was working just fine. Couple days later no one was getting my text. So I went down to the store and they did everything they could do and I finally figured out it was the +1 in the numbers.
I switched over from a G1 on T-Mobile, so GSM can use +1 but it seems Verizon or CDMA has a problem with it.
I went through all my contacts, got rid of the +1. Yet when I'd send a message through the default sms app the moment they replied back it would automatically add the +1 again. So the only solution I found was that I had to use a different SMS app. I went with Handcent.
Im more concerned why you have the country code in your contacts list anyway? Ever since I had my first phone years ago manuals said not to put the country code in your contacts list for domestic contacts. Ive never had a problem.

i tried everything... the only thing that fixed it for me was a complete factory reset

I had an sms issue I have been trying to resolve for weeks. Spent three hours with tech support troubleshooting, and finally determined something in the hardware. Took it in for a replacement. My g/f has the same phone, and no issues.
I wish verizon (or Samsung?) would fix this!

When traveling internationally, it's a royal PIA when your US & Canada contact records don't include the country code and you're trying to place a call to north america... When I go overseas, I use an unlocked GSM android phone, and I would like to load my US contacts via Google in a usable format (10 digit numbers aren't usable from abroad).
This is a Verizon-Samsung bug - removing the country code from all US contact records is a work-around (not a fix!). My previous Verizon phones (mostly old Windows mobile handsets) had no trouble sending texts to US mobiles using the international standard country code prefix.
I just loaded up the leaked froyo modem, kernel and rom (EB01, EB16 & superclean 2.6 voodoo respectively), and unfortunately I see this issue persists...
Can anyone tell me if any of the verizon Android handsets from HTC or motorola share this flaw?
Thanks!
my legend have an error on SMS.
I have sent a SMS to person A, and the SMS is also display on person A's SMS dislog, but after that , person B tell me that he received it, and person A didn't receive it.
does any body have this problem??
and how to slove it??
I've read about this in some news which says that it is a official failure by Google.

Yeah i've been there too.
If you long-press on the message that went wrong and select info, then you will see what number the sms went to for real.
This started when I used an app (think it was SMS Popup).
Now I only use handcent and haven't seen this problem since.
Android bug. Nothing you can do really except if you use a third party messaging app. Wait for a fix from Google.
Thanks you guys help~~
Trying^^
hey
i have a wierd problem with texts
every message i receive goes into its own thread instead of updating the current persons text thread..
i just changed rom's so backed up my sms's with sms backup and restore. , after restoring i noticed that all my sent messeges and received messages to people there in 2 different threads for each person one thread for sent one for received....
so i thought it might have been a dodgy backup... so i viewed the backup but everything looks ok nothing is split into 2 threads .... each person has 1 thread
so i thought it might be the sms backup not being compaitable with my new rom (dragon j/b 1.7) so i deleted my sms's ALL of them and started from scratch....
but again i just received a text from a friend i replied to that and when he replied again it went into a new thread......
anyone help?
checked my contacts they are all linked (ie, facebook....google.... accounts into one contact file)
anyone? can't seem to find info anywhere

I had the same issue with Dragon 1.6 when I installed with AOSP SMS. Reinstalled the ROM, this time with stock MMS AND the issue was resolved.

tried that this morning didn't work still same problem
so weird thing happened here.. when i installed the Go SMS app, my native AOSP SMS app started stacking the messages into one contact... somehow the GO SMS app interfered with the AOSP sms app... so i just gonna live it installed.. hide it.. and wait for a fix one the AOSP SMS app... i hope this somehow helps to figure out the problem.
