Question with Transparent dialer ... almost there! Please Help. Now with APK!! - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I finally figured out how to make the dialer and contact background transparent
[SOLVED] but now there are black boxes around the call button that disappear when the pulldown/notification bar is activated and the black boxes come right back when the notification bar is back up and not pressed.
[NOT SOLVED] The other thing is that it doesn't fill the screen anyone have any solutions to these issues?
Edit: I tried to change the padding in dialer.xml in layout-long-finger to 0.0 and that did nothing.
Edit: when I made the image btn_dial_textfield_pressed.9.png, in the folder red/drawable-hdpi-finger, fully transparent it then goes full screen so I am assuming that the size of the background image isnt being told to be stretched and I do not know where to look or how to fix that.
Edit: The black boxes are really pissing me off ..
Edit: here is the APK so someone can look at it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21010599/Help/Contacts.apk <--- this has the completely transparent background (btn_dial_textfield_pressed.9.png)
EDIT: here is the semi-transparent image file so no one has to make it http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21010599/Help/btn_dial_textfield_pressed.9.png
EDIT: ok so the black boxes are gone!! I replaced the code to the call_background.xml in drawable:
Code:
<item android:state_window_focused="false" android:drawable="@android:color/transparent" />
<item android:state_focused="false" android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@android:drawable/keyboard_background" />
<item android:state_focused="false" android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@android:color/transparent" />
didnt make the call backgound transparent though like I thought it would ...
I am still having the issue with the background image being the wrong size though when its not fully transparent.
Here is the NEW Contacts.apk with the no black boxes.

I tried it, loved it, but the only annoying thing is that your theme has to be on System. It's not that big of a deal, and I'm not sure how it all works with themes and color schemes, but I prefer the Androidian theme.
I still use the transparent status bar, love that. Great work, thanks.

[new release] VJBaseHue

Guys n Gals,
I've knocked together a small program further to ZeBoxx's request.
It's used to set the colour of the soft keys etc, by command line/shortcuts/launchers.
eg VJBaseHue.exe 187
will give you a nice purple colour

really a cool proggy
I am currently testing code by code...I've tried to key in 3 different conbination code...doesn't seem to work though... now am testing the color coding.
Zack, I don't understand. You mean you're trying to find the right hue code by code? The colour wheel on my website might help you, or basically load up any art program, screengrab your theme, and use the colour picker to find the colour your want. Even the standard Windows Colour Picker in MSPaint will show the hue you need.
Post some screenshots in your VGA themes thread if you have any luck :wink:
V
I think I got it now :wink:
guess I must be dreaming lol.I was looking for dark blue and not realise that hue does not come with such colors lol...
Thanks Vijay am doing some minor test wiht my themes I'll post some screen shots soon :wink:
I was looking at VJBaseHue trying to figure out how to get the two bars 100% black (still no luck) when I found something else. Modifying the SHColor value has an effect on the tray above the soft keys. Normally it is an ugly line across the today screen that forces up the scroll bar at the same time, the icons like wirelles use the space. After randomly modifying SHColor the line dissapeared and so did the scroll bar. Also the icons moved down and to the right to be in the corner taking up less space. It seems strange that a colour setting can change the whole layout of the today screen, do yo know the reason for this VJ?
I don't know offhand Odeean, I imagine it might be some kinda buffer overflow etc..
Let me know what values you use, and if I ever get the WinMob source in my hands, I'll have a look!
V
Don't worry, I can't copy/paste from my reg editors and the value is too long to be bothered reading and typing I also have not been able to repeat what happened, I only now seem to be able to make it do the opposite. When I have no tray, modifing it brings it back.

Any way to fix wallpaper gradients??

It seems that any wallpaper with a gradient or any shading or glowing is displayed like in 8-bit style. What I mean by that is this.

Its really making alot of wallpapers look hideous and would like to know what I can do to make it look the way it should. Thanks in advance.
Seems like a little help and a little research does wonders these days.
Just so this can be used as a reference, i'm gonna go a little in dept here.

might try adding some noise to the pic. just a little bit. I used to have to do this on my touch pro 1+2 on some walls
let us know how they turn out
a quick google turned out this:Say Goodbye To Gradient Banding | Planet Photoshop
this looks promising too

These methods work in getting rid of the banding lines but what I figured out was to keep the quality, you need to do alot of tweaking and messing around. What I found out was adding a gaussian blur on a new layer thats slightly transparent and adding a little noise on a overlay layer thats slightly transparent is the trick.
This took me 2 mins to do. (Its 6:22am on fourth of July, I'll put up better examples later)
Before
After
What got me thinking was some of my camera pictures and other pictures in the gallery look stunning but anything I transfer via pc had horrible banding. Didnt make any sense at all. I'm no expert but adding a little blur and noise almost tricks the evo's screen.
great idea! thanks, now i can finally get some good wallpapers onto my evo.
How about sharing the exact settings you used? Or even better would be to post a PSD template that only requires people to paste their wallpaper (or possibly copy a layer style)
Download wallpaper set and save from the market. It fixes this problem.

Seems like on of the best themes for xperia, except few things I'd like to change.
Grey notification bar and its hard to see clock and icons.
I'd like to see symbols instead of words in navigation bar.
Also golden/brown color accent would be nice.

[Q] Status bar icons color (How to change)

Hello, I want to change touchwiz kinda grey (ish) status bar icons to white, like CM's (not exactly CM's icons but the color). I've used flatstyle module but the notification icons from other apps and text remain grey. I've looked within SystemUI.apk but didn't find anything that leads me to that, are those .png files, any .xml file I need to dig?
I'm on Norma v15 Note 5 port for Note 3.
I attach images of my rom and CM's.
Thanks in advance.
Yeah, well welcome to the minority world. I mean most people don't even get bothered by a 'small' thing like this, but I don't understand how don't they, because the distinction between grey and white is more than noticeable, even for people with imperfect visions, and as status bar is a narrow and small spaced space, the more noticeable they are, the better. So best of luck for finding an answer to it.
I think it's not grey but a bit transparent. Maybe in color.xml in res/values. I used to adjust it but can't remember exactly.

Well, I've looked into it and changed every #fffafafa (which is the grey) to #ffffffff, but everything remains the same.
Hey buddy, yes, I'm a bit obsessed with that, couldn't use your systemui png files, spent a lot of time yesterday night trying to find the correct xml.
I will not rest until figure this out.

Android Oreo - unreadable notifications due to white background

I've updated my device to Android Oreo (AOSP Extended) and immediately noticed the new "design choices", which led to the following problem:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
That's how it looks like, when I'm trying to download an app using Google Playstore. The progress bar, the name of the app (which is showing the notification) and its icon are completely missing, is there any way to fix this?! Unfortunately I didn't find any way to change the background colour - it would be even better to get rid of the new "everything is white" design, but I would be already happy, if I could at least read my notifcations ^^
I have already spent way too much time searching for a solution, but I didn't find anything (except installing Subtratum Theme Engine, which seems to be a bit unreasonable for just changing the background colour), so you're my last hope

You don't like the new design? It's called Ultra Minimalistic Material. Deal with it, it'll grow on you soon. Besides you should know what's in the notification by now...
jokes aside, just use AEX 5.6. It worked flawlessly. You can also change color on both the rom you have and 5.6, just go to Settings - Display - more
