Hello everyone! im new in this forum, and im new about Android too.. im using Xperia X8 with Android Build number 2.1.1.A.0.6
is there a way to get it to 2.2(sinces too many Tuts in the web idk what should i follow tho)? Thanks alot and more power to Xda-developers!
Check the development section there should be lots of guides on how to change your rom by first rooting your phone
If you want just to put 2.2 on your phone, u have to know that all these roms are made by one programer. If you are amature dont even try it for now, read some topics , inform your shelf first. Such roms have bugs and in my opinion are not suitable for amatures...
It is just to hard to do the job that a company such as sonny ericson should have done, and make a rom in your one... These boys realy try hard but the last they need is some amatures asking how to restore their loat data.
On the other hand if you are not amature u can try a rom and feedback to them in order to fix bugs...
you will lose the phone warranty too !
I appreciate your replies, thank you so much, yea im aware that i might lose warranty but it seems i can unroot the phone isnt it? i wanted to try to Root my Xperia X8 (2.1 update-1) but im scared O_O too many Root Guides here so im a bit confused which is true.
Yes you can unroot phone with reinstalling fimware with SEUS or PC Companion. Look in this thread if you want root phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906195
Hi
Thanks for the quick reply! Thank you Mister. oh that's how u unroot, just reinstall , not using Xrecovery thingy?
Do you mean restoring backup with xrecovery? If you restore your backup it will be still rooted
Instant warranty-back:
1: Turn off your phone
2: hold down "back" while you insert cable to pc
3: start SEUS
4: ????
5: Profit!!1!!
Hi again
Hello, ive seen a thread from other forum. is this the proper way of rooting Experia X8 with 2.1 update-1 version?

Note::WILDFIRE is now completely rooted GO HERE and follow the instructions to root your phone.
In Case you need MORE ROOTING INSTRUCTIONS JUST CLICK.
UPDATE:: If you have already rooted your phone or planning to root it you can get the CUSTOM ROMs Wildpuzzle here
Vibes v1.1 One Stable and one under trial ROM. You can contribute by testing the new ones. thanks.
IMPORTANT:: If you are planning to install a custom rom leave this guide Now without following the steps below and follow the Rom flashing instructions at the Custom Rom Page.
Update :: Flashing ROMS with Goldcard ?? Well HERE IS THE COMPLETE GUIDE INLUDING:
1>How to create Goldcard?
2>How to flash roms with goldcard?
STEP 1 > Go to www.shipped-roms.com and download the rom relevant to your area which you want to flash. Mind this a Uk rom cant be flashed on a phone with Indian Rom i.e Rom from different areas can not be swapped until unless it is rooted make sure to download ROM from your region.
Edit 1: In case you have already rooted your phone and want to get adventurous you can download custom ROMs or Any ROM for your device you can flash any (Wildfire)ROM.
STEP 2 Download HTC Sync™ 3.0.5387 if you dont already have it. Just enter the serial no. which can be found on wildfire Box box and install it on the PC/Laptop you want to sync your phone data with.
STEP 3 After installation connect your PC and Phone with provided USB cable and on the prompt/notification on your phone select HTC sync.
Now very important :: Sync your phone and Backup your data, messages, mails and contacts. You can use backup apps from the market too.
NOW FLASHING TIMESTEP 4 Its Advisable to keep your phone more than 50% charged. Now run the RUU_*_#.exe ie rom file you had downloaded in STEP 1.
STEP 5 Just Follow the on screen instructions on your PC/Laptop.
TAKE CARE:: During the flashing
>>>do not disconnect the USB cable.
>>>The phone will enter the boot-loader mode during this time.
The whole process will take around 10 minutes.
UPDATE: All those who want to Unroot or remove Root just Flash Official RUU***.exe
Have Fun.
Thank you so much, I will use it later.
One question for step 1.: shipped-roms.com are not adding new ROMs since 20. July 2010. Are there any other sources for new ROMs?

Sadly there is no such single source for download since Shipped-roms stopped uploading new roms.. we will Just have to post the links here as and when we find/extract new roms.. presently i dont have a ROM different from Shipped-roms as and when i have one i will start a separate relevant thread for the collection of roms..where we all can post links to our uploaded roms
its nice to see you putting so much effort in the buzz forum here!
thank you and keep it on

Thank you very much for the guide, it realy sounds very simple!
I am a total newbie, never had a smartphone before, never had to deal with ROMs, etc, and I am thinking of getting a Wildfire next week, and if flashing ROMs is done this way, it won't be such a difficult thing to do.
Just a question: Is Wildfire's Bootloader locked or unlocked?
Thank you.

Thank you and welcome we are all newbies at least once in our lives .. Ok now i did not get your question's intention very well but you can access your bootloader i.e you can go to bootloader mode of your phone but you can not flash unsigned ROMs ie custom roms or original roms from another region.. That will be done once the phone is rooted.. Many people including me (though i am not very good at it still i am trying ) are working towards it.. we hope to get it soon then a lot of developments and hacks can be done for this device..

Sorry if I wasn't very exact in my words. I meant exactly what you answered:
If you are able to Flash whatever ROM you want, like Desire/Nexus One users do, but Milestone (for example) users cannot, even though their smartphone is rooted, the Bootloader is Locked.
So from what I understand, when Wildfire gets finally rooted we will be able to Flash whatever unsigned ROM we want.
Keep up the good work and hope you root the phone soon!
Thank you Warrior for this write-up!
I've got some experience in flashing ROMs on a WinMO Phone but a total n00b with Android Phones...
Small question for you if you don't mind...
When looking at the 'What is your firmware' post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722988), I notice I have exactly the same firmware than the Original Poster although he is from Germany and I'm from Belgium. Others with the same firmware were from Denmark and France.

On my Phone, I can choose between Dutch, French and English as language for the operating system. I guess our German friend will have a German language option on his Phone and the Danish guy will probably have yet another option (Danish). Are all these different languages contained in the ROM itself??
Can we all use the same ROM file from Shipped-ROMs.com?
The only ROM on shipped-ROMs that completely corresponds to the version numbers I see on my phone is this one:
RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_130814_signed.exe

How would I recover the Dutch and French language options if I would ever need to install this WWE ROM??
Thanks for any clarification!
Sylvain
I'm asking the same question as @Sylle.
I have the same firmware, software, etc. numbers as he does. I've bought my Wildfire from Vodafone Romania (also locked on this network - this is the reason I want to change the ROM, until a rooting method is discovered) and it has the locale ROM (I'm guessing Central - Eastern Europe or something...it also has Polish, Czech and so on).
I'm goind to put the WWE ROM (RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.14.405.2_R_Radio_13.45.55.24_3. 35.15.31_release_130814_signed.exe) but i would like to know if there's any way to extract the current ROM? Or to make a backup of it, in case I ever need it later..
Many thanks for this topic; definitely going on my "subscribed to" list.
I am a n00b to ROM flashing, but not to *nix systems; anxiously awaiting root, at which point this info is going to come in handy.
I just wondered whether anybody knows if HTCFlasher (the Linux Flash software) works with the Wildfire?

Hey dude all you answers one by one :: First things first i am myself new to android flashing but i was pretty good on windows devices not just flashing but a lot of other stuff too..
ALL ANSWERS ARE TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE EVERYONE SHOULD FEEL FREE TO CORRECT ME IN CASE I AM WRONG::
About language packs inside the rom ::
There are no extra language packs inside ROM other than what you can see.. what i mean is there is no hidden language pack that can be somehow hacked and enabled.

I see that you have found a ROM that corresponds to your ROM..so you can very well go ahead and flash it but to get back to your Original ROM you have to wait till the ROM you Presently have is posted somewhere ..or rooting is done..hence many options will be open to us..
ALSO UR ROM CANT BE BACKED UP AS OF NOW but once rooting is done you can back it up using NANDROID..
I can not try Rooting this as i gifted this phone to my younger BRO and i just have 3 more days to play with it.. i recently have bought HD2 and left my JOB for my Furthur studies so can not spend like i used to earlier .. i am saying this coz it makes me sad as other DEV's are neglecting wildfire for other high end devices and i am not able to help much still i am trying my best..
A quick request: would it be possible to write a similar n00b guide for those of us on Linux (perhaps Ubuntu specific)?

Hey would love to do that i already have UBUNTU 10.04 on my laptop but never bothered trying flashing on it .. I think since Android is Linux too so it should be easier to root and flash on Linux OS in this case Ubuntu...
BTW i remember something about HTC Flasher..Even more info and discusssion HERE so if you like you can do a bit of your own research too..also there is a thread for Rooting Aria on Ubuntu butfor this to be done on Wildfire we need unrevoked to work on our Wildfire first .. sorry mate this month is my Exam so i am devoting a little less time here in forums..

Hi, thanks for the reply (and good luck with your exams!)
One of the things about being new to this scene (I've quite a lot of programming experience) is the lack of a centralized source for information on existing devices. Getting your head around the terminology can be tough. Furthermore, while there are device specific roots, they rarely give insight into the technical process that is going on behind the scenes. I'd really like to gain some insight into the methods people go through when developing a rooting technique.
For instance, say a kernel level exploit is acquired and you obtained a root shell; what is the process for installing the su binary? (what changes are necessary and, because it's a ROM, where would the binary live?)
A lower level resource that started from scratch explaining the boot process, file structure, signing and verification procedure would be ideal, but I haven't yet found one.
(P.S. not necessarily requesting this, just voicing that this seems to be an area that is uncatered for)
Thanks again for the guide.

Hello Phunctionist!
I've been reading a bit more about the subject and I would like you to check something out so that I can confirm my suspicion...
You can change/add more locale (which determines the language of your Android OS) by installing the application 'localeswitch'.
However this doesn't add text input prediction for that language. I have the impression this is included in your keyboard software (Input Method extension - IME) on an android phone.
As we both have the same firmware, i'm wondering if we have the same input settings available for the keyboard as I also have options for Polish and Czech.
Amongst others does your keyboard for example allows you text prediction for
- Dutch (Nederlands): mine does
- French (français): mine does
- Croatian (Hrvatski): Mine does NOT
Hope your answers will bring me some clarification...
Thanks in advance!

What is the simfree spanish rom?
Anyone know what rom should I use for a SimFree Spanish HTC Wildfire
I need another ROM for my Wildfire because it has Chinese language options that I think they are Hongkong and Taiwan. I downloaded this file
RUU_Buzz_HTC_FRA_Bouygues_1.23.483.2_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_140524_signed.exe
and tried flashing this ROM many time but got some errors. At first it was very hard for my phone to connect PC, when it's done the Updater told me the ROM is invalid for my phone.. So which ROM I must download and do I need to hack root my phone?

ROMs are locked to locations.
Asia has their own rom so you must download the Asia rom.
Not sure if it will fix your problem.
Hi,
I have bought a brand new HTC Wildfire and am awaiting for it to be delivered. It is on Vodafone (uk).
I would like to root my phone when i get it and would appreciate your time if you could help answer some questions i have.
1) If i root my phone can i revert back if i want to? by this i mean go back to the Vodafone default, sorry don't know what they call it, basically so it's back with Vodafones custom android or whatever it is they call it.
2) I guess i will loose everything on the phone like apps etc? can i backup everything before hand?
3) I would like Android 2.2 which i believe is the latest version, by rooting the phone how would i go about then updating to Android 2.2? would i just need to check for updates from the HTC website or something?
4) I here about all these custom roms, can someone explain what these custom roms are? are they modified versions of android or something?
5) If i am able to update to Android 2.2 does that mean i can install apps on the sd card to save the memory in the phone as this would really benefit me?
6) Do i need to root the phone to install Android 2.2 on it?
Maybe i don't need to root the phone to get Android 2.2, if not does anyone have a guide on how i can do this please?
Thanks for any help and sorry if these questions have been answered before.
I did read the UnRevoked Guide which has explained things a bit and sounds the easiest way and red all the replies to.
Thanks
MR
1) Yes. You do this by finding the relevant RUU on the internet and then flashing it to your phone.
2) Rooting does not make you lose any of your apps, it just gives you more access to your phone in a way. When you install a custom ROM you can use a program like Titanium Backup to backup all your apps. Also you make a Nandroid backup of your phone that you can recover in case something goes wrong.
3) Over the air (OTA) updates of Android 2.2 will be coming before Christmas it is thought so if that is all you want you could wait. There are a few different 2.2 based ROMs available on this forum if you look through the threads. This thread lists the different ROMs with links to each thread and there are some links to guides as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822181
4) The custom ROMs are community modified versions of Android that provide something different to the stock ROM. Some of them have HTC Sense, some of them are the standard Android interface. Which one you choose all depends on what you want out of your phone. See the link above for more info.
5) Yes a feature of Android 2.2 is apps2SD. This is available in the custom ROMs.
6) If you don't want to root your phone then you can wait for the OTA update of 2.2 from Vodafone. If you don't want to wait then you will have to root your phone.
I believe those answers to your questions are correct although you could be better waiting for a more experienced member to reply. I suggest you read as much as you can about rooting and installing custom ROMs so you can make sure you are making the right decision and that you know what you are doing.
You need to be aware that rooting your phone will void your warranty.
Hi,
Thanks for replying, this has really helped answering my questions
Thanks

Hey guys...Im a newbie in all these kinda stuffs... if ur pro, passing by here please drop a comment to help me. u don't really have to answer all questions r.....
If u feel lazyy to answer me just gime a link which can answer me. MANY THANKS!
SE x8 don't support Flash Player, so i cant play
vids on browser but i know that when rooted, my phone's OS or ROM ( or something similar) can be changed , and many different "things" can be done, my questions are : Is supporting flash player included in the "things"?Which OS or ROM should i change to? Someone suggested me Skyfire Web Browser.. I was stunned... LOL I don't need a browser which can support flash! i needa phone which can support flash player.
Im a newbie and my knowledge is, originally our phones are running on stock roms(which don't allow many things to be done) , once rooted, we can change the stock roms to customized roms...
And we can turn our phone into phones like HTC Desire or G1 or Samsung Galaxy...I NOE IM NOOB PLEASE CORRECT ME!
Everytime i did try to do research on how to make my phone better after rooting, but everytime i view a thread, i will be like
" ****! what u guys talking man ..The words u guys use are killing me...i don't get u guys at all.."
so here are some noob questions please help me :
1)What is/are
modules?
sense? ive seen some people say they can make their X8 run on HTC sense?
firmware?
build number? mine is 2.0.1.a.0.47 , people say there is 2.1.1.bla.bla.bla. Should i and how to update ? (MY X8 is already rooted)
i've found out that, its a should to upgrade my phone to 2.1.1 , as many latest customized ROMs like gingerbread and froyo can be supported on 2.1.1 only.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941458&page=8 ,
i dont get him. if i wanna upgrade, should upgrade then re-root my phone or what
xRecovery?
Jit?
Floyo? Froyo? Gingerbread? are they just themes or what..? What's the advantages of installing them?
Flashing ROMs?
SI number?
2) How to get
multitouch works on x8
flash player works on x8
WHY some people can have their x8s running on android 2.2 or 2.3? WHen running on 2.2 2.3, what's the advantages
IM REALLY CONFUSED NOW DONT KNOW WHAT SHOULD I DO FIRST NOW! first step should be updating my firmware to 2.1.1.a.0.6 eh?
answer
to answer some of your questions, skyfire does support flash and gingerbread, froyo, floyo and all those are roms (operating systems for the phone). you can get gingerbread themes for the older roms. i am actually just after figuring everything out and i just flashed my phone with the latest gingerbread rom
xRecovery = something like a "boot programme" with this you can buck up, mount sd card on case your phone broke down, update to an othed rom, put themes.. And many more... Is the next step after roof.
Jit= something like a programme... But not a programme, it make your phone faster.
Update: depends on your country... Make an update from cp companion.
Multytouch / Dualtouch : not availiable, developers are trying to crack bootloader and some others port it as a module.
Module: if you are not an expert on linux, u dont need to know what this is , its something like help drivers I think...
Flash on x8: Adobe release flash for android 2.2 but last offisial version was 2.1 ... Only easy way to install it is to flash your phone with a rom 2.2 and up, for x8 (with xRecovery)
(no unoffisial rom is realy stable but there are good enought.)
Android 2.2 and up: x2-x5 faster, the speed defference is realy big, so u can get more from your device.
Is: I think this is a code of your phone , a signature of the country it comes from, used on update.
There are some othes simillar numbers like it, ex. Market number...
This is what I know... maybe I am wrong.
1.You can have flash in 2.2 and above ROM..but atm,i dont think theres is fully working
ROM yet to play with it..most of dev a trying their best to make completed ROM,so please be patient a bit.You can try Racht or Jarpelea ROM which is the best rite now for X8, search for it in X8 Android Developement Section.
2.Yes every phone is shipped with stock ROM and we need to rooted it to be able to customized it, Yes you can also turn your phone like HTC Desire or G1 or Samsung Galaxy but in what thing? if u said ROM,you'll have to wait for dev to port the ROM to our X8. and if u said about theme, theres alot of theme, app that can change ur X8 interface to htc,g1.
3.As an regular user, idont think u have to know what modules is,its related to system driver or kernel that u dont want to messed with.Sense is a theme that available on every HTC phone, what their mean by "X8 run on HTC sense" is there a able to use HTC Sense theme on our X8..have u ever see Sense clock? the square white flip clock that available on every HTC phone, thats one of it.
Firmware is also known as official [email protected] from SE like ROM and App.
2.0.1.a.0.47 << this is an old ROM, the latest one is 2.1.1.A.0.6..Yes u should have to update as every update mean better performance, and bug fix..u can update via PC Companion..updating will clear all your data in internal memory, so it doest matter if you already rooted,PC Companion will install new ROM and you have to rooted it again. Yes you are rite, most of dev customized their rom based on latest [email protected] available..Yes again, update will wipe all your things located in internal memory and be replaced with the new one, so upgrade through PC companion and rerooted again.
xRecovery is an app that able u to [email protected] modified system file, able to backup and restored your whole phone if something goes wrong, able to [email protected] [email protected] ROM and many others,i can say it a must have app if u always want to messed with ROM @ custom file from dev.
JIT mean JUST IN TIME,its a file that able to boost your cpu and at the same time save you battery (for me) what is mean by Just In Time is,when u used this file, cpu will only be used when needed eg.opening app, playing games.
Floyo? Froyo? Gingerbread? <<<its a name of ROM,floyo is modified ROM name taken from Froyo which is official Adroid ROM..2.1 (Eclair),2.2 (Froyo),2.3 (Gingerbread)..we are 2.1 which is eclair.
Flashing Roms same a isntalling new rom, upgrading new rom, changing rom to ne one.used xrecovery to flash new rom.
SI number as i know is country code number that determined your location.let say:
2.1.1.A.0.6 for ORANGE <<<build number ORANGE is carrier
SI 1241-4645 <<<<Location code,we cant have same SI number as him if we are from diff location.
multitouch works on x8 <<<Not yet until dev able to [email protected]@modified SE bootloader, multitouch need a driver that properly start whan device boot
(bootloader is SE app that check every driver on every boot, every driver have some sort of SE sign to determined the officiality of the file)
WHY some people can have their x8s running on android 2.2 or 2.3? WHen running on 2.2 2.3, what's the advantages.
==because dev already port the ROM to suitable with X8, that y they can have it running on our X8. 2.2 and 2.3 is a latest build,as you know latest build mean better performance, latest things added in the ROM,and flash can only be run on that ROM..thats the advantage!!
Yes,i think u should update your phone first.
Here you go,hope that i already answering all ur quest.
Arghhhhh thanks so muchhhhh guys. XD
when updated, my phone's internal memory will be cleared up..including all the SYSTEM APPS? then automatically in the new ROM i will have the same SYSTEM APPS as in a newly bought phone?
and i used link2sd, apps that i linked to sd will be wiped away too?

So what I'm searching for is for the right proceedures to get my x10 fully rooted with recovery and ready for all kinds of roms (at least the new ginger ones (I'm thinking about the ultima rom))
Greetings
First update through seus or pc companion to get 2.3.3 rom. Then follow instruction from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196808. Just read the whole post before doing anything to make sure you understand all the step. Hope this help.

upgrade to gingerbread

after upgrade to gingerbread...rooting etc

I would recommend that after rooting and installing a custom recovery (ClockworkMod) you should make a full nandroid(complete OS + data) backup and keep it safe on your pc or sd card before you do anything else.
once you have are rooted have a custom recovery.. and a nandroid backup you are ready!..
remember.. when flashing ROMS.. check the baseband..which means.. if you are on gingerbread ROM.. official or otherwise.. you can flash any gingerbread ROM.. if you want to flash a ROM based on ICS.. you should get on ICS baseband.. for that you need to upgrade to official ICS.. then you can flash whatever ICS ROM you want..
as for flashing instructions... the ROM builder will have included that.. so read it.
Hope i helped!
