Just talked to a htc rep who referred me to this website. http://largesseworld.com/HTC/HTC-Magic-p5.html
$600
tad pricy
same price as the dream phone when it first came out
That site doesn't seem to mention HSPA frequencies... I'm going to guess it's not going to work here.

Yea....hmmm
I wonder what carriers are going to brand it
When it is released in the US, will it be available through T-mobile??
It's coming to the US.That price must be for an unlocked phone.Saw another website for the Magic it was $499.99 unlocked.the website mobilecityonline.com Its out New York. There quote for retail is $799.99.

According to HTC, it has USA T-Mobile 3G
There will be specific versions of the device for USA or Europe or there will be one device worldwide?
I'm asking because i'm italian but i'm going to stay in NY for 3 weeks and I could buy one here if it is the same i can buy in Europe.
Thanks
Man, I haven't been on the forums or used my Blackstone for a while now. I am using my samsung Behold right now because I sort of got bored with the HTC blackstone that I imported to use on t-mobile. I am very VERY interested in this phone and can't wait to get some hands-on time with it very soon. Anyone have an info about Huawei G3 phone that should be coming down the pipeline? :
http://www.engadget.com/2010/01/29/nexus-one-for-atandts-3g-bands-likely-in-the-works/
Personally I would be very mad right now if I bought a Nexus One on AT&T.
I wouldn't want it on at&t anyways, service isn't like it used to be. . .
Plus T-Mobile is gonna have way better phones than at&t soon enough.
What strikes it weird to me is why isn't AT&T listed as "coming soon" like Verizon etc...If in fact they were coming to them wouldn't they have list it
I switched from AT&T to T-mobile specifically because AT&T was too late getting on the Android bandwagon. Just because they are reacting at the late point in the race doesn't mean I regret my switch or that I wish I would have stayed to begin with... I'm getting better prices at T-mobile anyway
naa, if att gets it, I'd just sell mine and buy another.

Read the article again, it never says it's coming to AT&T, just that it's getting support for the AT&T 3G bands. This is most likely a version for a future Canadian carrier.

Indeed, perhaps it will be coming to Rogers, or the new Telus network. Doesn't mean you won't be able to get an unsubsidized version for use on AT&T though...
I am getting an N1 myself, but plan to only use on AT&T for a few days; too many dropped calls on this network. TMO may not necessarily have the coverage, but if you have a signal, at least you can rely on it.
I'm not really upset about this either. I was willing to switch back to T Mobile for this phone, but it would have meant two ETF's for me. Now I can just flip this one for a profit to an international buyer on eBay, save myself the ETF's, and not have to go through the hastle of switching.
what ?

mad at who ? att ? google ? htc ? yourself ?
when you buy something, it is yours. the product, not future products, not future hardware changes, not replacements if/when you break it.
i really don't understand people that feel wronged when a new product is released.
maybe it's "early adopter syndrome" or something ?

but i am on tmo.....so i wont be pissed anyway.

Well, I'm glad I found out about this right now; just called HTC to return my phone since I'm definitely willing to wait it out for an ATT 3G version (the network is pretty solid in Philly for me).
dont know if anybody's interested but thought I'd post this up anyways
we pretty much already knew this.

Anyone on SWAC accounts is about to start being charged an extra $10 a month soon too... well those with smart phones anyway, not just "4G" phones
OP, where is this from? Thanks.
Im on a SWAC account and the SWAC people told me via email that i would be able to activate the Epic 4g you buy one at full retail price ($500). Now i just need to find a store to sell one to me off contract.
Well at least this answers my question regarding whether I can buy it at launch day as well via the new ERP. So good news for me. It may not be much of a discount but any discount is better then none.
Ok so I went to a tmo store and ask when will they roll out the update and one told me in august. however someone here said reps told him the update will roll out in the end of june. Any one really know when will the update roll out?

I'm pretty new to xda, and I have low posts, and the way I see it is I'm no dev, so I don't need to start a thread, I enjoy commenting though and random threads in the dev section annoy me too, so I agree + 1 for us noobs not needing to start new threads in dev

Not exactly. I used to work for T-Mobile. I used to find out about new phones on Google faster then through T-Mobile. I don't want to say anything bad but most reps don't know anything.
A T-Mobile rep at Best Buy told me my G2 wasn't capable of 4G speeds... In other words never trust rep talk. Just look it up here or some decent website like Pocketnow.
This thread's stories remind me of that newegg.com commercial where that sales rep is clueless on laptop specs.

That reminds me of my trip to Best-Buy the other day. Associate tried to tell me the HP Dre Beats laptop was more powerful for gaming because it came with a mini-subwoofer. I do not kid.

As strange as it seems to you, he was actually correct. 4G was intended to mean LTE-ADVANCED, something like 100 Mbps.
But a bunch of the douchebag carriers started marketing their services as "4G" even though they didn't come ANYWHERE NEAR that.... so 4G was re-defined to be nothing more than HSPA (or equivalent). Basically, 3G and 4G are the same thing now.

If that is the case...Then all of the carriers are lying. None of the company's that are saying "4G" are hitting 100Mbps. The rep from Best-Buy didn't know what he was talking about. He didn't mean LTE-Advanced either. He was just trying to sound like he knew what he was talking about. We know what true "4G" is but for now we have to settle with the "4G" that is given to us.
LOL Yeah I really like the T-Mo reps... really nice people and never had a bad experience... but most of them know nothing of their products. To be fair, I think many of these people don't really have a "passion" for this stuff as most of us obviously do, so to them its likely a job and a paycheck. I remember when I got my MyTouch 3G, (my first smartphone) I asked a rep what the weird digitized blocks were on an app brochure, and he told me they were typos, most likely blobs of ink from the printers. Turns out they were QR codes.
I am a T-mobile sales rep. Corporate does not give front line employees info on release dates and software upgrades until the last possible moment. When the new rate plans started this past Sunday there were not any rateplan guides in stores.
I get more up to date info on from sites like xda and tmonews way before corporate releases it.
Go easy on reps that share what they have heard, they are trying to be helpful but rumors and are just that. I occasionally get info ahead of time from product reps (like HTC) but things change all the time.
Latest rumor making the rounds is the 2.3 ota for the g2 should be out next week.
We will see how that pans out.

So what your saying is that you can't believe what a salesperson tells you. I really hope this isn't news to you. I have first hand experience with T-Mobile and their reps and I can tell you that they are for sure salespeople first and some just happen to care. They get information so slowly from Corporate it's kind of mind numbing. Anyone who frequents tech blogs knew about the AT&T merger before T-Mobiles employees. I called the person I know there and they had heard nothing about it. You think they care when the phone they sold you 8 months ago gets the update? Nope.
Technically that is the phone manufacturers domain. T-Mobile really has nothing to do with it. Why do you think it takes 2 years for Samsung to update the Galaxy line which is on multiple carriers. Just Sayin.

Engaget's Review of the Atrix:
In their review they gave it a 9/10, and even stated in their review, "The Atrix 4G might be our favorite Android device that we've tested."
Source: http://www.engadget.com/motorola/atrix-4g-review/
Engaget's "Recommendation" posted today:
"We're not going to mince words, the Motorola Atrix has a number of urgent software issues that make it tough to recommend, but at least AT&T is pricing the Blur-saddled smartphone into the realm of reason."

I agree it is bizarre their only phones over $99 now are the Infuse, the iPhone, and the mediocre HTC HD7S for Windows 7. I hope this means they got something cool up their sleeves for June that we don't know about.

What people in the comments don't understand is that there is a new group of guys at engadget now while the others are gone at Thisismynext. Josh.T reviewed the Atrix first so his review and opinon might be different than others that are there now.

Upgrading on another phone
I have 4 phones on my plan but only 3 of them have the data (last is for my daughter's emergency phone).
Of the 3 on the data plan, mine still has the medianet plan on my captivate which the AT&T rep was kind enough to keep for me when he upgraded my phone from an older phone to the captivate.
But phone #4 without the data plan is up for upgrade and I'm wondering if I order it online, do I have to pick a data plan for it? Or will it try to put a dataplan on it if I use it with her sim card but not mine?
I'm thinking if I unlock the phone and just put my sim chip in it, I can keep my unlimited, but not sure if the data plan automatically gets put on phone #4 if I upgrade on that.
Anyone know?
Hey guys
Is it the plan version or the RRP? coz I got mine for $550 from other source=(
Crap, I just bought my Atrix on Saturday... Costco gave me a good deal though.

I'm getting in on this. My plan is up for renewal and $100 seems good to me. I plan on rooting it, getting the webtop over HDMI running and possibly buying a bluetooth keyboard/trackpad.
Anyone have any tips or tricks?
I'm a little nervous because I have an N900 which lets me do pretty much anything I want...
Lap Dock
Im wondering if they are gonna dump the price of the phone are they gonna drop the price of the Dock as well? With a locked bootloader im getting kinda bored with this thing. Maybe a dock will give me something to mess around with. Im sure not paying $300 for it though.
