[Q] missing motoblur - Atrix 4G General

Ok I recently rooted my atrix thanx to xda, and I installed the Gingerblur beta rom which is nice but seems to be a bit laggy, I kinda miss motoblur and how easy it was to updates all my social statuses with one widget, and the look, I got launcher pro and beautiful Widgets, I just wanna know how can I get my stock motoblur back without unrooting

Check developer section, you need flash sbf file and you will have like factory band new, do a backup of your apps.
You can re root again

Downgrading from Rooted 2.2 to Stock 2.1?!

I've tried reading the sticky and the only thing it has done is confuse me.
I don't know what half the stuff they're talking about is, and that probably means unrooting is something I shouldn't be doing. But I really want the samsung apps, swype and other promoted features of the phone which won't be available when I get the "Rooted Samsung Vibrant 2.2" phone I bought.
Anyways, my question.
How would I get from Rooted Android 2.2 to Stock Android 2.1? (it can be rooted I just want the features, but unrooted would be preference I could use the one click root application)
Sorry, but I live in Canada and I want that phone so I can use it on AWS providers and well, It's just a complicated situation but the point is I bought a cheap vibrant on ebay that happened to be rooted with 2.2 but as you can see I want it on 2.1..
augh I should stop typing.
THANKS FOR THE HELP IN ADVANCE!!
So you want complete stock 2.1 with original firmware and everything? This sounds like a job for ODIN, go to the Bible sticky and find the thread on ODIN there. However, doing this will reset everything back to out-of-the-box status, meaning you lose all of your apps and data (contacts, media, etc).
And since you don't want to be rooted you can't make a backup and then reinstall all of your data and apps using Titanium Backup Pro, as you need root for that...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
look in here. The best way to do this would be to flash back to stock in Odin. Look for the Odin tutorials in that thread above. Hope you figure out how to do it. There are some videos and stuff that will help you, it won't be too hard.
If your ONLY reason for doing this is to get swype, samsung apps, and promoted features, I think what you are doing is a TERRIBLE idea. You would basically be downgrading the phone.
Lots of the new 2.2 Roms include ALL of the features you want but are faster, and can look better. I suggest you look into the Dev section at a few 2.2 ROMS before you make up your mind on this.
If you're DEADSET on getting complete locked stock, yes, use ODIN.

Droid 2 Update from 2.3.20 to 3.0.0

looks like 3.0.0 is out heres the link:
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/12/2...feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+DroidLife+(droid+life)
anyone try it out yet?
yea it works fine, root still works. Blur is still blur but its a little smoother and profiles is a good addition.
Quite possibly the ugliest launcher I've ever seen.
cool. yeah i must have heard that a million times. so if you do a back up are you able to just flash back to it? or do you have to sbf?
Safe bet would be SBFing. I don't see why restoring a previous backup would mess it up, but it might bootloop you.
It doesn't change the kernel does it? That would be the only way you would seriously **** something up by restoring a backup.
Don't think I would drop GummyJAR ROM for this "new blur".
It does install a new kernel. I made a backup in clockwork, flashed this and have gone back to my backup without issue.
It doesn't look like it changes the baseband, anyone who has installed this have you checked your bootloader version and kernel version? Anyone been able to SBF back after installing this?
Droidlife tested the 2.3.20 sbf and said it does work. Personally I'm gonna stick with custom roms on mine, I'm not having any issues and I can't stand any version of blur and its lag.

Write permissions - better method to root?
How does one go about getting root to set RW on the app dir? I have Root Explorer installed and running as SU...but I can't change to rename some of the stupid stock .apks.
FYI - I used Tears of a 1000 Unicorns to gain root.
Thanks!

PS: This ROM, as is, plays Xvid backups of your public domain video files!
the last two days have been "rom trial days" ..i loaded the new gummy, really liked it, then, after reading about the 3.0, i loaded & tried it. it really has a few nice things about it...but, decided this morning to go back to fission,,,,which i did, and "lost" the 3.0 upgrade..
but, knowing these guys, we'll soon have both gummy & fission w/the 3.0 update, so, Thank You Gentlemen for all your hard work...and, hey, do you remember the days when you used a phone to talk with? Wheeeeeeeeeeee

I'll continue waiting for Team Defuse to tear this one apart. I tried dealing with Blur again the other day, and I just can't stand it. It likes batteries.
I have been trying it out for the past few days and it seems alot better. Much smoother, I like the new swype design, has a built in task manager, profiles, a few other little things and the battery life is really good. I still run launcher pro over the stock blur but even that seems to run better.

Haha, i got a kick out of this. Yea those days seem so long ago I can barely recall them.
On another note it looks like the kernel might have been update as its a slightly different number than the one on my phone. Anyone know if anything has changed for better or worse with it?
I have a question.....is this gingerbread?
Thx!

No. Its the v3.0 of the motorola blur firmware (you are likely running v2.3.20 right now) and its basically a modified version of the Froyo 2.2 Android. In your phone info you will System version and Android version. This is a system update, not an android update.

I got it to work somehow. I'm guessing the various insignificant attempts and reboots solved something. I like the ROM a lot after getting rid of the usual bloatware.
Thanks for your help....Merry Christmas!
has anyone tried this and then gone back to a saved backup?

Idle Free RAM -and- Why go non-stock?

When idle, I have 295MB free RAM on the stock ROM. Is this normal, bad, good or what?
Also, all these threads say to upgrade to a custom ROM, which I'd agree with on any phone I have had up until no, but the stock ROM on this DroidX is amazing and I have zero complaints (first stock ROM for a phone I have had no complaints about). So why upgrade to a custom ROM? Right now I have tons of apps installed, and nothing is slow or sluggish. I can switch between Facebook, games, the Camera, Gallery, AndExplorer, Yahoo mail, WifiTether, etc...all without having to wait. I just flick with my thumb and it is instantly there, so why upgrade? My wife has a HTC Incredible, and I MUCH prefer the Motorola blur interface. It is far superior to the default Android interface in my opinion after using other 2.1 and 2.2 devices. I would lose blur if I went to a custom ROM wouldn't I?
Finally, Is there an easy step-by-step guide yet for flashing the DroidX? (like the one I made for the Vogue in my sig below), or do you still have to know a bunch of acronyms and be a programmer basically to even understand how to do it? Also, how hard is it to flash back to stock if I do not like the custom ROMs?

if you already wrote a tutorial on how to root and flash a custom rom to a phone, why are you worried about terminal commands?
Just seems a tad out of place to me.
And rooting and flashing is simple, just get z4root or other method one click root the phone, which install the custom recovery, then download droid x bootstrap from market, download your rom bootstrap into recovery, nandroid and flash.. simple.
And returning to stock is as easy as a maderstock rom (believe i spelled it right) or SBF back to stock, if you update to a gingerbread rom, you must flash back to a stock froyo rom before continuing either by sbf or maderstock.

[Q] guide to getting touchwiz 4 on my desire z?

So far ive downgraded
, rooted, installed numerous roms and overclocked and I want to put touch wiz 4 onto it now.
I found one guide for which ill put up here if I can find it, and it was running smooth but was rather buggy so I had to take it off and also it didn't have any samsung widgets.
I've replicated the looks with adw launcher ex. But its not really the same so I wondered if any one on here could point me off in the right direction.
Ps: the guide I followed required me to install a zip in bootloader and then to install a touchwiz 4.apk.

[Q] Im deciding to root my phone

My first time doing this myself, last time i had an android and i used cyanogenmod it was sooooo buggy.
I seen the videos, i saw all the instructions, i've decided to root my nexus 4. If i do that do i have to instal cyanogenmod? I Just want to root it, with launchers like Nova Primer and UCCW i feel i can get all the customization i need with just stock jellybean.
Im not sure if this is a commonly asked question, i felt like if i did a search on this i wouldnt find what i wanted due to "keywords"
Just answered my own questions. need a MOD to delete this
Why would you need to root to use Nova and UCCW?

It has been a while since I used Nova, but I think root allows you to do a few more things with widgets that widgets don't normally do, like go in the dock.
You don't need Cynogenmod to use a rooted phone. I run on stock android rooted via the Nexus 4 Toolkit by mskip.
