Find a stock 3.1 ROM ( so you can root) here, and flash it using power/volume.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
When I say there are no files I literally mean that there in nothing on the internal drive. lol
When I click "install zip from sdcard" it tells me there are no files found. nothing in the "/" (root dir) :'(
I'm assuming there needs to be at least a folder like "/mnt/external_sd" for the Recovery Mod to access the external sd card?!
The above link requires me to access the official acer recov, don't know how to do that seeing as CWM is there.
I don't understand why they would put options in the Clockwork Recovery that could format the internal drive completely...there's no "/mnt" or "/system" or anything...
Kinda sh**ting myself as my tab is now less than a doorstop
PS. it also says "can't mount /sdcard"
HAHA.....ok, jokes on me....I just noticed that the reason for the device not picking any files up from the "sdcard" was because the damn thing formatted my EXTERNAL CARD.
So, kids...what have we learned today, beside that I'm (in the great words of Red Foreman) a dumb-ass, it's that CWM read from your EXTERNAL sdcard and NOT, i repeat, NOT your internal.
Sorry, and thanks anyway
Ummm yeah, I assumed you had no files, even before you apparently knew it. That's why I provided the link for you to d/l the stock ROM of your choice via PC, copy the files to SD card and flash using stock recovery

This is pretty common knowledge...
Never had the problem before, so I forgot, you ever forget, well, I forgot.
Thanks anywho
We all do stuff like that from time to time as we are only human. I seen people not unmount the sd card and it make the card unreadable and you can't get the files off of it then. You have that grayed out sd card, when you try to use it.

[Q] Unable to write to ums lunfile. Reward of 20$ for solution!

Hi everyone,
I'm sicked of this error "Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)" I search all this forum and google. But i can't find a solution!
So I offer a reward of 20$ to the one who gonna help me with that problem. I prefer offer someone this little money for help instead of buying a new phone...
I have an HD2, he was rooted with a MIUI Rom (and a lot of other Android NAND Rom before), everything was fine until one day i woke up and no more SD Card readable. I restarted my device but it changed nothing. I try reflashing the ROM but when it come to the part "install zip from sdacard" with ClockWorkMod i had the "Unable to write to ums lunfile (No such file or directory)" or "E:Can't mount /sdcard"
I tried reflashing a Win6.5 ROM and redo the whole process (MAGLDR 1.1.3 with Recovery 3.2.0.0 or 4.0.0.0) but always the same error.
I tried putting another SD Card => same thing
I tried formating my SD Card with SDFormatter
Someone have a solution? Or want to try helping me getting rid of this error?
thanks
up! Some one please :'(

1. Reflash ClockWorkMod Recovery (The newest version)
2. If that doesn't work, take the SD Card out of your phone and reformat through Windows using FAT32. MAKE SURE YOU "UNCHECK" QUICK FORMAT
3. If I'm not mistaken, that error is a mounting issue with USB, so maybe reinstall all of your drivers for the phone. (i.e. the Google USB driver, the HTC drivers, etc.)
Ok i just reflashed it and nothing changed.
Actually I can acess my SD from USB MASS STORAGE of MAGLDR 1.1.3
So it's a problem with Clockwork Mod Recovery isn't it?
I also have the same problem. I am trying android for the first time and I am stuck.
formatting the sd card worked for me
kinda same happened to me
i accidentally re-partitionned internal sd card
then i tried to format all folders: /data /system /sdcard........
now i can boot into CWM
but i can`t even mount USB ... it shows "E: unable to write to ums lunfile"
when i try to wipe data/system, it shows:
error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
when i plug it on the computer, windows can detect 2 disks but i can`t access it with partition magic
i think i`ll have to repartition the internal sdcard and format everything again.. thats it?

I'm sure you got it fixed by now, but if your without a card reader you could , boot into the tri-color screen and reinstall win mobile 6.5 and use it to format your sdcard , then redo magldr or clk and see if you get things to going, just make sure your using a CWR made for HD2
i have the samme problem

And whats about the case, you internal memory gives you this error..? :crying:
Hello, this problem has came to me also, just one day the card is not working, i have 2 cards of 2gb, both of them not working with the ums lum errors cannot mount them in cwm recovery. Both of them are working in the card reader in pc. I have tryed to windows full format them, then panasonoc sd formater, it didnt work. I have clockworkmod recovery 3.0.1.4 version, and i haven found any upgrades on that. E: unable to write to ums lunfile
anyone could give me a solution without wiping rom out ?
Also I'm thinking to upgrade my clockworkmod recovery to some later version, maybe that could help out ? But cant find 2 things - 1) how to do that without using sd card?
2) Will i loose my data on the phone ?
i'm not sure if your roms will load after formating sdcard, probably it depends on the rom you use.
Once upon a time i had some errors with my sdcard and nothing help, neither windows formatting nor some sophisticated utilities like panasonic formatter.
But formatting in nokia phone did fix the sdcard. It was Nokia n97,but I believe any nokia n-series will do, or maybe just any nokia phone. Try it it helped to many people.
and let us now if this method worked
i did found a way to install cwm without sd card, using fastboot. But that didnt solve the problem of phone detecting sd card. I have 2 cards, none of them are working in the phone, but works in the reader. I dont have any data in the card, phone works with android, but it wont recognize sd card. Anyone got fixed that ? I mean, the card was working one month ago, no its not.
Anyone any sugestions without reflashing it ? since a lot of ppl try this, and it didint work for them .
Here what i found is 100% exactly what is happened to me.

another sd card problem... wait - different, really!

hi all,
I cannot see or mount my sd card. It can be read and written in PC, but my u8800 can't see it.
I loaded 2.3.5 official. After some search I rooted it somehow and installed "x5 settings" application (I dont remember why I installed it, damn). After using "selecting internal/external memory" area and rebootings, my sd card cannot be seen by the device anymore. When I plugged, there is an option "turn on usb storage" but it doesnt work, just turning and waiting when clicked. In the storage settings "mount sd card" doesnt do anything.
I formatted the sd as fat32, tried using it when backups restored and not restored. But doesnt matter.
Btw, my internal sd is completely free (as i see in the storage settings) but i cannot see it when plugged in the computer neither.
any help will be appreciated,
ismail
edit: when dload of 136 is in the memory card and opened in pink screen, it gives an "update failed".
edit2: 138 and 162 does the same, update failed. Again, i cannot reach my internal sd.
edit3: the problem may be not the sd card (update fails because I try to downgrade from 526 to 1xx). however i cannot reach internal sd. making downgrade from internal sd may solve the problem, anyone knows a way to reach it somehow?
Have you tried the trick to remove the battery and put the phone to charger and then installing? And after install you put battery back. Also make sure that there is free space in sd. Also make sure there is free space in sdcard. 500MB should be enought.
I put the b136 rom inside sd card. When battery out, if i plug the device, it starts normally. But if <power+-> combination is used when plugging, it goes to the pink screen and waits.
there are 14 gb free space in external and 2 gb in internal sd card.
btw, thank you for your reply.
I think you can mount internal sd in ubuntu while in pinkscreen. This requires you to have ubuntu and unlocked Bootloader. To install ubuntu, use WUBI, which is easy way to have it with windows. Blefish has posted a way to unlock to bootloader. There is a link for it in my signature. After these are ready, plug your phone while it's in pinkscreen to ubuntu, and search for 2gb partition. Then pud dload there and continue like you normally do.
I'm using Ubuntu right now I ll give it a try, thanks again.
edit: tried, but as far as there is no sd card mounted, it seems there is no way to unlock the bootloader. (error: /sdcard/bootloader.bin: cannot open for read: No such file or directory)
On project menu, which is accessible by *#*#2846579#*#*, there is an options menu for sdcard. I think that needed Google option to be enabled. Try to play with the options there(reboot after a change).
Also from X5settings, choose external memory.

Can't you do it the automatic way? Do you have CWM installed?

There was google mode selected, i tried the others also. No change. imo, source of all the problems is the "x5 settings". I had installed and remove it many times, but before the last uninstall, i changed the option to "external". Now i dont have x5 settings enabled, and dont know how to reinstall since there is no sd.

no, i dont have CWM right now, before the sd card issue, I was trying to install it but the bootloader problem was preventing me.
can you try to install b518 or b517? they are official 2.3.5 betas, but with unlock bootloader.
I am downloading them and will try both.
edit: didn't work. "update failed" problem.
i cannot install CWM because there is no sd card mounted.
also cannot make bootloader work because there is no CWM and sd card.
So not able to install any custom rom from bootloader.
And since my version is b526, i cannot downgrade. (i dont know if the reason impossibility of the downgrade or the sd card problem or not mounting internal sd.)
I will wait the next (final) version. For now, i gave up. Thanks for all

U8800 pro serious problem

Ok lets start from the beginning:
I was trying to upade from 2.2.2 official to 2.3 official and now i'm messed up because after the step : "upgrade sd card" my phone restarted and my usb cabel was still on and phone started charging, after that i tried to turn on my phone. It worked but after 20secs my screens freezes and cant do anything even turn off i need to take battery out, also phone not detects my sim card...
Any idea? My phone is rooted, have installed CWM5.0.2.3,but have no backup only public one...But i can't mount usb storage because i get error like "E:Unable to open ums lunfile(no such file or directory)
ANY IDEAS????
I can get to pinkscreen aswell
If you have an external sd card put the public backup there and try to restore via cwm (if you get boot till there). You can also try the update procedure(the dload folder and stuff) but put them in the external sd card! The phone should boot from there.
Anyway, better wait for more answers since I'm not the best in here.I just know how to flash some custom roms.

sorry for dumb question but microsd = external sd? if yes - then i placed the backup in the card but in cwm only phone memory shows no sdcard...
Edit: external i got that
well it actually is an external microsd card
did you manage to restore via cwm?
P.S. if cwm doesn't see your se card go to advaced->reboot into recovery
should be able to see it now

When i do "reboot into recovery" my phone double restarts and 2nd time it turns on normally not into recovery...
Don't know why this is done, but I think we should be happy that your phone isn't bricked
Maybe someone else here can help you and provide better solutions than mine
Have a read through http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639761.
Has a link in it to how I solved my issue of constant reboots.
Also , since you can load pink screen, you can connect through usb and change your recovery to 5.0.2.7. That's the one i used. Make sure that you have a cust.img file in the "image" folder. That is where the recovery should be too but am guessing you already know that.
If for some reason you dont have cust.img you can find and download a generic version in these forums. Did not need it so I did not bookmark the post I found it in but I think it was the Kalo's Honor Port thread in the pro development section.

Having a problem

Hi there,
I'm following this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797334
The problem is that the phone wont detect the external SD in the clockwork recovery, so i made the wipe trough the internal SD.
It wiped everything, no problem.
The problem is that i cant mount the internal SD so i can place the zip and install it...
Ho should i proceed???
Thank you.
What filesystem is your sdcard formatted to? FAT32 works best for daily use.
Yes, it is on FAT32, but the phone wont mount it on the clockwork mode.
Worst, it wont connect no the computer, and i have no ROM on it...

What recovery are you using? I use CWM touch 6.0.1.2.
Have you tried sending over a rom with adb? If you have adb working, you open up cdm and navigate to where you have the adb files and write: adb push path-to-rom /data/media/

I had the same problem. I have the solution now.
The problem is cwm 6.0.1.2 - it does not recognise the external sd card and you are unable to backup to it as a result.
I have just reflashed cmw 5.8.4.0 through cf root 6.1 and everything is fine.
I now have a full backup (1.8GB) on my external SD card - which I checked by resetting and restoring.
The problem is not the phone, rom or card - it is CWM and you need to flash an earlier one that works via Odin. Hope this helps
The big problem is that the internal SD card wont mount on the computer, so, how can i put a stock rom in there?
I'm completely lost...
I have odin on the computer, how can i donwload the CWM 5 trough it?
Or the custom rom?
so you have 2 problems? phone doesn't detect external card and pc doesn't detect phone? please clarify
Yes, i have said that on the first post.
I have now the CWM 5.5.0.4, and it wont mount any sdcard, and the PC still wont recognize it...
does Odin recognize your phone in download mode?
Yes.
Having only the internal SD card, it says error mounting SD card...

the 2 problems are unrelated. Your PCs failure to recognise your phone is to do with drivers - you can try reinstalling Kies.
I suggest you sort that out first so that you can flash your phone via Odin.
well if Odin recognizes it, why don't you just flash a stock Rom?
The PC stooped recognizing the phone after i made the wipe.
Since it wiped the stock ROM, i have no phone, it wont mount the external SD, and it gives error mouting the internal SD.
How can i solve this?
I'll let you sort him out slaphead...I'll butt out cos I think we are getting mixed messages regarding the problem here, best of British....
There are no mixed messages, i have 2 problems.
I have already ignored the fact the the recovery wont mount the external SD card.
I want your help so i can at least transfer the custom ROM to the internal SD.

it seems he has possibly super wipes before installing and didn't put a zip to install on his ext sd card? Is that your line of thinking, because he isn't being very clear, but feel free to butt in, I'm not entirely sure where his problem starts at this very moment!
It was exactly that, i have used the Super Wipe from the internal SD.
I know i should have used the external, but it wouldn't work...
You know how to solve this?
Thanks in advance.

Yes! If Odin recognizes your phone in download mode then flash a stock Rom, re root with cf root, boot up and set up, copy zip to sd card, and flash it, you will be on a clean install any way, so no need to use that POS superwipe, so just follow the Rom installation instructions, and you will have the benefit of knowing you are running a nice clean install, then you can just reinstall all your stuff with titanium or whatever
---------- Post added at 09:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:43 PM ----------
add to that, before installing the Rom, format your external sd on the phone, and make sure it mounts and unmounts in settings, but anyway, doing it the way I mentioned you can flash from internal sd

what happens when you connect to PC?
1. Does explorer recognise your phone?
2. Does Odin recognise your phone? (in download mode)
what storage have you got in your phone?
3. internal sd card
4. external sd card?
