[solved] Unable to download anything from Marketplace using MIUI Rom

Hi,
I have downloaded the MIUI rom from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969661
[Mar 11 ]HD2 MIUI 1.3.11 SD/MAGLDR ROM (Kernel-AmeriCanAndroid r3.01)
Now I am facing the following issues......
Setup
I am booting this ROM from SD; so when starting it's booting to Win6.5, and I have to launch it from Win6.5.
Issue 1
okay, in Android
- marketplace
- searched for Angry Bird
- hit download, and I can see that Android passed the download link to the "download manager", and download manager quickly remove it from the download - no error message
was wondering if I need to create a folder for them to put the file?
Is it possible to download the "Angry Bird" application on my computer, USB sync it to the phone, and run the application from the phone?
Issue 2
- i registered for beta version of swype
- i download swype, and tried to install it using it's installer
- swype is unable to let me generate a license for it;
===> do I need to set up permission for applications to access my SD storage?
Issue 3
I just discovered that this ROM has links to MIUI Market Place! very similiar to Android marketplace
and this time when I choose to download software from it, it says failed to download (in chinese); I can surf internet and receive emails from gmail though.
Has this got something to do with my cluster size? It's currently at 8kb
PS: I couldn't get any response/support from the development forum, so I guess someone could help me if I were post in the right forum?

I don't know about the market issues,but u can definitely download apps and games from the network ,go to options>application and mark unknown sources so u can install non market apps-games, enable mass storage in android,transfer the files to the sd,access it with astro(any file manager) or any other program u have and just press the file u want and it will ask u if u want to install it.
about the market issues maybe switch to another rom.

after download some apk and installing them into the mobile, and after a few restart/reboot, I can download from market place now.......

Guys,
I'm so angry , I just rooted the nook glowlight and am unable to install any apk files.
I'm always getting "there is a problem parsing the package", whatever I found on the internet :crying:
Is there no file explorer by default on it ? And why this parse error ?
And most websites just crash, grrr
Anyone, anyone please anyone : HELP MEEEE

Do you have ADB working? Can you see a logcat?
Do you know that these APKs are actually good and designed for API level 7?

Also, is installation of apps from unknown sources enabled in nook color tools? Most (all?) of the NST rooting packages include it, but you do have to set the flag to get packages found via the internet (rather than the google store) and copied to the device to install.

I get that error sometimes when downloading .apk files from some sites. Your browser might not be downloading the file with the correct filetype suffix. Can you see if it has the .apk suffix on it? I've found that some browsers do better than others with handling this file-type. If you can get xScope browser or Opera Mobile I think those were better. It's also possible that a retry of the download will work, or that the file itself is just bad.

I get the same error on my nook simple touch.
the same apk's work on my galaxy nexus.
Anyone knows what might be the problem and how to solve it?

A logcat will tell you exactly what the problem is.
Use ADB and get a logcat.

Are you sure these apks are compatible with Android 2.1 Eclair? Not everything will work. Which programs are you trying to install specifically?

I haven't thought of that. but you're probably right.
I'm surprised the error message is not more obvious though.

its on Android 2.1 eclair
and its not rooted
what should i do ?

Wrong forum.
Try installing any other package with requirements : 2.1+
In Settings check "Allow Installation of Non-Market Apps" .
Install apk from SDCARD.
I'm 90% sure you are just trying to install a package not compatible with A 2.1.

I have a similar problem...
new to rooting and romming, finaly!!!! got my ms770 lg motion back to stock and I too am getting the error " there is a problem parsing the package".
I noticed that if I download an app, it installs fine, no problem...but when I transfer from my pc, it shows up with that error message when I try to install.
I have read a LOT of these forums , trying to determine how to solve this riddle...they all say try THIS file manager, or, make sure installation of non-market apps is checked, or some such thing...
Well, the "allow installation of non-market apps" thing IS checked...still no dice...
What do I do with the log once I get it?
Basically....can someone please point me in the right direction? Please?

hey juz check if ur sd is protected with password or something. and its the reason y its showing... if sd is protected under developer options & phone is rooted it occurs. check that out n try and tht prob will be solved..it worked for me. check that out n reply.

I solved it.

[Q] malware in ROM download

Hi
Today i downloaded a ICS ROM from a link here in the xda-forum. As i started to extract the zip my avira antivirus screams that there is a Trojan.
it says that the linv3p.dll is the trojan tr/atraps.gen and i had to move it into quarantine.
could that be? And what can i do if this is a mistake of the antivir programm?
All the other people seems not to have this problem.

All roms have some kind of a virus that isnt a virus. Even for other devices but thats only detected harmful to the computer im not sure but i can tell you that it wont effect the phone at all.

This is called a false positive. If it were malware, it would probably be targeting your computer as opposed to your Android device. As I am doubting Avira isn't scanning for Linux/Android threats.

then it seems i have to deactivate my antivir cause it don't let me do anything with this file.

I've made it a habit to turn off antivirus when flashing anything thru odin/adb.

I'm trying to create a game for android usign andengine, but i always obtain the following error (which does not prevent the app from running, but i have some problems, and i want to be sure that they aren't caused by it):

Then see if you are still having the same problem.

upgraded my 525 to w10m yesterday.. the thing worked for me that i changed all the info's of my phone with lumia 540 which is up-gradable to w10m. i just changed all infos and upgraded it with windows insider app... anyways thanks for your idea.. it was great..
