MODs - PLEASE DELETE THREAD (Thanks!) - EVO Shift 4G General

DELETE PLEASE. No longer needed.

People have been running this for a while. Toast hasn't posted this yet for a reason. I've seen devs leave the scene over stuff like this. Let's hope that's not the case here.

Hey, just so everybody knows, this is put together by Toastcfh. It says so right in the kernel version. I know somebody posted this to the Development board, where the thread was locked.
If you want the original, and OP, I suggest doing this, post the link to the IRC. When you enter the room, Toast's latest is available as a bitly link at the top. Please please please give credit to Toastcfh and the other dev's for there work.
Thanks, and it's too bad that you didn't just post the instructions from your source, becase it was directing people to the IRC to get it.

You should peruse the forums here at home more. Toast's CM7 and how to get it have been no secret for a long time.

how solid is this rom? i'm currently running mikrom at the moment and it is FAST! i would like to give this a try also if someone recommends it. what are the flaws?

Pretty solid build IMO. I couldn't get Swype to work though (backup from TB)
Boot time was pretty quick.
Tomorrow, we will see how battery goes...

I posted the thread on android central forum. I stumbled upon toastcfh cm7 by accident during a google search looking for evo shift irc channel. At the time I did not know it was toastcfh's cm7 rom. I apologize when posting the thread on android central if proper recognition and thanks were not given. I am doing so now. I'm also going to edit the original thread I posted giving thanks and recognition to toastcfh for his hard work on this rom.

Swype works fine for me. I had the dreaded GPS issue just like the evo guys get often. I've not tried their fix, been too busy, but it'll probably work.
4G works, I still don't much care for ADW launcher and it's "5" screens. Anyone know if you can set it to "7" like Sense, Launcher Pro?

Not sure what the EVO fix is Smurf, but we've been having success with flashing a Sense ROM, getting GPS lock, then rebooting to recovery, wiping, restoring CM nandroid.

About the other comment, I actually like ADW, just not the only 5 screens. That's what I really meant to say.

Not sure what you mean about "devs leaving the scene". I merely posted what I found on another forum etc. It's not an official build thread under the "Development" section where I had posted originally where I should not have. It's up to each individual to pursue installing/testing this rom. My post was for informational purposes only in regards to what I had found.

Doesn't work on vibrant or captivate.....
Sent using xda app.
That wont work, the vanilla launcher is not installed on our phones, as it is on the epic 4g, i tried this a while back like the first week i got my phone.
I'm pretty sure this is fake. The home launcher is not installed on the vibrant by default.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Hmmm, well I do not believe its fake. Although this was posted from Androidcentral. I'm considering on going to a Sprint store and asking to play with a model for myself Hopefully I don't get someone in trouble. Maybe Samsung heard our opinions on TW?
Why is this in development? It certainly has nothing to do with development at all. It is just a repost from an Android website.
Vibrant9 is going to be touchwiz free.
Or, if you look at the sticky in general, there is now a link for the vanilla 2.1 launcher. You can install that, set it as default, and get the vanilla experience.
yea this is in the wrong section and, it is not applicable for the vibrant, this only works on the epic, Samsung added the vanilla launcher as another option.
You can put any launcher on it you want.
This is dumb though because it doesnt get rid of touchwiz, it is just switching launchers.
Directions for removing touch wiz.
1. Open market
2.hit menu\search
3.type "launcher pro" without collins
4.install and follow app instructions to get running.

Easy to install 2.2 rom?

Hey guys-
I was wondering if anybody would be willing to create an easy to install froyo rom for the vibrant that could be installed through rom manager? If it's possible and someone would be willing to take on the challenge I and many other noobs out there would be much ablidged. Thanks in advance.

CM 6 is coming. For now enjoy the great job done so far
if you take a look at other threads under this forum, there has been work at porting 2.2 to this phone. Some difficulties in getting a fully functional build. I would recommend using the search function before starting a new thread, especially when posting under development, as you'll prolly get flamed pretty heavily.

It does exist. It was the international Froyo leak but it is not a complete Froyo since it is missing JIT as well as other things. That leaked ROM is incomplete and is not stable for everyday use. Especially on a Vibrant, there are a lot of bugs with it and it is not recommended to be using it as the daily ROM.
It's better off waiting for 2.2 to release by Samsung or the CM team. It's just around the corner. Be patient.

Exactly - there is no Froyo rom that is much easier to install than the leaked int'l one, let alone a stable one. What he's asking for doesn't exist. There's no secret, stable, froyo.zip floating around that people just aren't talking about.

So far theres not an easy way to get a fully functional 2.2 however as with anything give it time and we will see it some time.
i do believe that everyone on here wants that including all the developers working on it. if we were happy with 2.1 then we would have stuck with the original os that samsung put out for the vibrant. really did you have to ask this here? or at all? its technology its always growing. give it time!

For what it is worth, I can state that this will install using recovery 2.5.0.5, as I just got done doing so.
Yep, i've reverted back as far as ROM manager allows and so far so good with backing up any ROM and flashing any ROM
As far as this Honeycomb port goes, I wish I had this on my Gtab. Obviously needs some work, but wow this is a 10 on the cool factor. Who cares who did it or not, these Dev's deserve mad respect for their time and hard work. I actually approached the dev for a port on the Gtab and he says he's been trying, but still no luck. As an owner and avid Gtab forumster, I can say that many people on the Gtab forums would consider this guy a god if he were successful on porting this over.
Everybody chill out about the drama and give props where it's due. This is awesome news and fantastic work.
Yes, it is. Is there another recovery I could use?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yea go into rom manager and at the bottom it has older recoveries use a 2. whatever one.
flashed for a little but forgot to install gapps. pretty useless right now most stuff doesnt work. along with the bad lag its also pretty hard to navigate since its made for a tablet. things are really small and the mouse has to be moved with the toggle which is a pain in the ass among many other things. might go back to it and try gapps just for ****s and gigs. otherwise useless. will be cool when the bionic comes out and a port comes to that.

4g and the new cyanogenmod rom

Alright so, I flashed that new nightly of cyanogen.. it states that 4G works.. but when I try and turn it on...
I check it, to turn it on
It says turning on...

Then it says turning off...
And stays off..
Any ideas as to why that is happening?

You can look it up on the IRC for evo, posted in the general thread. Also here. This is Toast's build, but it's been pretty good to me so far, although I like Evervolv's theme more. I think Prelude takes toast's cm and add's his own improvements, or at least the kernel.

Toasts kernel is a must-have for wimax support, no sense in trying to restart that whole adventure again when you can ask toastcfh for permission (out of sincerity) and just compile that kernel and include with the packages.
Evervolv is in no way, shape or form CM. Of course preludedrew may opt to turn to the CM guys for help, that's what this community is all about. As I said, though, preludedrews roms are his own creation, not just relabeled cyanogen(mod) builds.

IDK maybe I'm wrong but from what I've read you have to do certain little tweaks to get things to work correctly and I don't go through all the little processes to find out I dont like the ROM.

What most people don't mention...
If your roaming when you setup the phone then you have to turn on National or International Data Roaming, depending on location of course.
MMS is only dirty right now.
When toastcfh posts it officially on here, and I'm sure he will since he's maintaining it, then it'll be a more "hassle-free" experience.
Just don't forget to flash the gapps and freak out when you have no market!
