Do you have S-OFF?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
i tried to do it, but i find some many guides about that, and i read that this can brick my dhd, so I didnt do it.
is it necessary?
Yep, you need it. Use my radio S-OFF tool, it is easy as pie. Nobody has bricked a DHD using my tool yet, the possibility of bricking is basically zero. You can find a link in my signature.
and how do i check that i have s-off??
i have done this s-off, but my phone is on the initial booting logo, htc and after the vodafone animation, and it is going over and over again.
thanks people for help. i had this that press vol - and power and you get into advance settings, then factory reset, then again root, and now is working.
thanks
solved
check my guide. regarding the ! sign, did you use "Flash clockworkmod recovery" BEFORE tapping on "reboot into recovery"?
I had that problem too but then I did s-off and clockworkmod worked. Now I need radio s-off , and I need help with choosing right radio to flash.

You need to have the radio which comes with the 1.32 you have installed.
Then use the Easy Radio tool v2.2 to make the Radio S-Off
Then you can flash the radio you need (the recommended one for the rom you are going to install) using fastboot (some tutorials there).
Hy, need some help please!
I rooted my phone, and do the s-off, and install custom rom. but what is eng s-off?
when I go to boot i have " ACE PVT SHIP S-OFF"
Do I have to make eng s-off or what or can I use my phone like that?
tnx
I'm sure if you have a little look on the forums you'll get the answer you're looking for...

ENG S-OFF is not essential, unless you want to flash a new radio although it is recommended to have it. Look in the Dev section, there is a very good tool to use.

Hi, I would like to know how to root my HTC magic and which ROM is best for it, and how i can get back to original ROM if i dont like the rooted ROM? I am going to leave my phone specs. ANd thx a lot if some1 answer me a question.
Spihire pvt 32a ship s-on h
hboot 1.33.0009
cpld12
radio 3.22.20.17
Use the search option and search for "1.33.0009 root"....third one down.
THx a lot i found a lot of stuff, but there are few things that are bugging me. First Amon ra recoveri loader there in some guide is said first to just boot the image, and then to install it, so what should i do? Second there is nothing said about when you boot it/install it when you install cynogen_mod android? And third thing on my W7 it wont do the push command always says it is read only file or smthing, should i use linux insted is it batter?
The phonecompany 3 updated my phone, when it went for repairs, so now it has that horrible HTC Sense on it. It asked them to remove it, but they refuse, and actually IN the shop tell me to hack it.
Now my question comes, because no-one seems to know anything about this.
I have tried searching the internet, and this forum, but information on how to do it, seems to be different from the people you ask.
I have a 3 mobile HTC Magic 32A branded HTC.
Radio 6.35.x
CPLD-12
HBOOT 1.76.0009
What is required? I have read something that I need to replace the "SPL". Is that the HBOOT, or what? I have found some guides that refer to me as to going into my command prompt and somehow comunicating with my phone... how on earth is that possible?
This is where I am right now, and the more I search and read, the more confused I get, so I hope someone can clarify the process of rooting a magic. i have rooted my old Desire before (Not mine anymore), with a so-called "risk-free" guide. Easy as pi, once you read 5 lines, and downloaded 2 files.
Please clarify this for me, before I loose my hair over this.
EDIT: I have the phone rooted, with an app called "Universal AndRoot". It seems to have root, but no matter what bootloader I try clockworkmod or RA, the first crashes, and reboots the phone, the lather freezes within seconds... is it proper rooted, or just "half"?
What to do?

those are not bootloaders... those are recovery images.
You have a 32A, which means that you need an EBI1 recovery image. You are probably installing EBI0 recoveries, which won't work.
Thank you for clarifying.
So clockworkmod are "EBI0" recoveries.
What are "EBI1" recoveries then?
Use the recovery from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816345
PS: Your phone is running what is called "New radio"/NR/6.35. If you want to run stock Cyanogenmod or anything like that you need to downgrade your radio and SPL. A good FroYo ROM for 6.35 is FroyoRider.
recovery-AR-magic+-1.7.0.1?

amonra? I am not sure what that means, but I will search the internet for how to install a recovery image on ones phone (32A HTC Magic)
I type this in a terminal "flash_image recovery /sdcard/1.7.0.1.img" without quotes, yes I renamed it.
It says: erroroutput[usage: flash_image partition file.img
What am I doing wrong now?
Nobody knows?
Do u have ask set up and the ability to fastboot flash recovery? I would do that

If I have what?
Sorry. Gotta love auto spell. I typed sdk. U have to have android sdk to set up adb to control your phone through your computer. Then u can use fastboot flash. First u need an Eng spl with the right radio to use it.

Sounds awfully complicated.
Thanks for clarifying however.
Well my phone was rooted my a friend's friend a while ago. Now I want to flash a new radio because my gps is acting up, but want to make sure that I have everything set-up correctly before I do so.What settings have to be "unlocked" or so in order to achieve this?
Any tips and things I should watch out for regarding flashing a new radio would be greatly appreciated.
hey the way you would make sure your s-off and all the things you need before bfore starting is to check h-boot. to do this turn your phone and hold the voume down and power button at the same time you will get to a white screen with androids on skateboards. there at the top you see your h-boot at the top it should say these 2 things 1 is h-boot s-off of course and the other important one is 2 your phone has a enganiering h-boot that lets your phone be able to flash different roms from different carrier brand roms like the desire rom on a g2 and vise versa and also radios. and things to watch out for is make sure your dowloadig a safe file before flashing and to make sure you download a backup of the radio that you have just in case something ffffffsss up if you know what i mean. just put the file on the root of your sdcard and get into your h-boot menu and the h-boot will pick up the file and you just press up to select upgrade and you should be fine. to check which or if it stuck you can check this in your menu ,settings , about phone and under your software info youll see baseband version and it should show the new radio you flashed. any questions feel free to ask my friend ok ;-)
As stated above, check your bootloader. If the first line ends in S-ON, you will need to obtain S-OFF using one of the guides (I suggest looking at the Wiki). If the first line ends in SHIP S-OFF, you have S-OFF through gfree. If the first line ends in ENG S-OFF, you have S-OFF through the engineering bootloader (and maybe gfree as well---you can check out the Wiki for an app on how verify whether or not gfree was used).
Regardless, if you have S-OFF through either method, you can flash a new radio. Unlike what the post above stated, you do not need the engineering HBOOT to flash a radio (or custom ROMs for that matter). The engineering HBOOT simply allows you to use fastboot to flash partitions on your phone while in the bootloader. If you do not have the engineering HBOOT, you can flash the radio through the PC10IMG.zip update method (there is a thread in the dev section).
Thanks for giving the full info i knew i forgot i did use gfree and it unlocked and all the good stuff i thought that included for you to be able to flash radios and any branded roms thanks

Thanks guys! Yes, I checked and I have s-off. Great!
When I get on my pc I'll "thank" both your useful posts.
So which is the safest route to take to flash a radio? Through h-boot?
EDIT: Already flashed the radio, thanks guys.

Download the radio zip bag.put it into SDcard root.rename it to "PC10IMG.zip".then goto h-boot and g2 will auto flash it.
No problem I just had to flash back to the stock radio wasn't getting the best service with the new updated desire radio glad everything was figured out

Hello,
I've got an HTC Magic UK Vodafone branded phone (32B) which had the official OTA 2.2.1 install which included SPL 1.33.0013 and Radio 2.22.28.05 (shows S-ON in the top right).
Now it's let me root it with SuperOneClick and SU seems to be working OK but it wont let me flash any kind of recovery.
If i try any fastboot commands i get "remote:Not Allowed", now i've been reading through the forums and i've got myself very confused with all the different solutions and none of them seemed to happen to anyone running 1.33.0013.
Anyone who's a bit more up on the HTC Magics able to give me a pointer on what i need to do? do i have to try and flash back to 1.6 (not sure how to do that yet) or do i need to start wipeing and changing SPLs? My phone is a Dell Streak and this is the wifes phone, bit of a different kettle of fish this one.
If i've missed the obvious post that answers all of this please just point me to it and the mods can delete this post but i couldn't find my exact situation anywhere.
Thanks
Pete
Use rom manager to flash recovery. The new hboot is s-on so no fastboot

I was using ROM Manager but i just read another guide which mentioned although it's an HTC Magic, the 32B means i need to select Ion/MT3G not the HTC Magic option!
Which means i've been trying to flash the wrong recovery, could be why i was getting nowhere.
Thanks for the hboot heads up, i wondered why i couldn't get any commands to work.
I'll try the correct recovery in a mo and see how i go....
you sir are a genius lol that was indeed my problem....just talked the wife through it over MSN and she's describing the 1.70 recovery screen now woohoo!
Now to decide what things to start flashing on it hehe More reading to be done

You are rooted and can flash whatever you want from what you described. Getting s-off is different. Please click my name and see the links thread I started, it has links to both s-off methods for heroc. It unlocks your bootloader, go read about it. Again, you don't really need it, but it's kinda cool.
