[Q] [HELP] WP7 re-install problem - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hey folks,
I had a great working installation of DFT's original WP7 running on my Euro HD2. But then I decided to try out the new Android Gingerbread with Sense 2.1. That ROM had a couple of critical things not working so I decided to go back to WP7. But now when i try to install WP7 it give me an error message. The things i have tried are
1. Formatted the phone with Task 29 and also repartitioned and formatted the SD card with FAT 32. This is the same SD card that I was using earlier also with WP7.
2. Re-installed Magldr 1.13.
3. Tried installing WP7
4. I have tried installing a stock Win 6.5 ROM after performing a Task 29.
5. I can install Android ROM's and WinMO 6.5 ROM's without any problems.
None of the above steps have helped.
The error i get while installing is as follows
An error has occurred
Read below for more information
Error Description: send d000ff partition data failed
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (1279)
Error Description: block send fail
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (962)
Error Description: flash write failed.
Info: .\RSPL\RSPL.cpp (710)
This error is happening with all WP7 ROM's. I have tried at least 4 different WP7 ROM's and they all give me this error.
Anybody have any idea on what may causing this problem?
TIA.

try to begin form the start
hard format your SD card
tsk29....wm6.5
flash radio 2.12
hard spl 2,8?!?!?!?
and use Magldr 1.12
...wp7..
try this steps mate hope it works for you...

Have tried all this except re-flashing the radio. Will try again in this particular sequence. Thanks a lot. Cheers.

Hey buddy,
did you got any answer for that issue ??
i am having same issue...
Strange, but i heard this issues mostly with indian people... LOL

No, I have not found any solution for it. I have been too busy with work to sit and spend time on this problem. Anyways am presently on Android. Will update this thread if i find a solution.
I wonder why this issue is affecting indian people only too...lol..

partition 4 errors on hd2
I had same issue, using a 8 gb hc class 4 micro sd card. Worked first well, but after while got reboots on w7 and filesystem went corrupt on sd card. Reflashing got me errors on partition 4.
Tried booting w7 rom without micro sd, resulted in fast boot, but not stable w7, due to insuffient memory. Bought a new micro sd card class 10, reflashed w7 and worked nicely.
Looks like w7 is picky about quality of the microsd card. Speed is important.
Maybe your problems get solved with a new sd card.
Good luck!

The strange thing is that the SD card I am using is the exact same one that i was using earlier. But will try this out with my old 4Gb SD card and check if it works. Thanks

As per my knowledge,
it has nothing to do with your SD card...
even if u dont use any SD card, its partition 4 from NAND of HD2
so, it states, our NAND memory is corrupted at certain location
I am able to flash roms with 160mb size, but when go towards larger 180 - 190mb roms, i still have same issue

[Q] SD Card Problems

Hi Guys,
First off, thanks to everyone involved in the HD2 developement, it only took me an hour or so of reading posts to get android running on my phone
So, I'm having problems, and I think it's due to the memory card. I'm using the Scandisk 2GB (don't know class) that came with the phone (UK, o2). It has just enough space to run android so it'll do for now.
I tried changing my Radio from 2.12 to an earlier version, as my signal was cutting out in low-signal areas. I managed to brick the phone (used wrong version I think) and had to connect the SD card to my PC via card reader to get a different radio back on there.
When I connected it to windows, it said I had to format the card to be able to use it... It then formatted it at around 950mb, FAT32... After sorting the Radio and booting into winmo, I formatted the SD card which gave me 2GB again. I reloaded Android (I've now tried Mattc's froyosense 1.7 and mdeejays sense 1.3) and now everytime I unlock the SIM card, I get a series of errors:
The process com.htc.bgp has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
The application Stocks (process....
It'll loop through these errors untill I turn off the phone.
This was using Radio 2.10. I've just changed back to 2.12, which was running fine before, and I'm having the same issues. These started while I was using the Energy winmo rom, and I've tried it with ChunkyRom too (both vers of Android I have too).
Is this likely to be the SD card failing? I did see something about wiping the phone before flashing a new winmo rom, is this worth trying?
Cheers
Well, it looks like it is the SD card.
After a few more tries it's now getting to the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen and looping through the animation...
im guessing your running out of room on the card..
you said it only has 950mb free?
is that before or after the data.img file is created?
I have a problem too with a 8gb sdhc card i get the message failed to mount the sd card... I had formated it but i get the same error...With a 2gb card everything works fine!
It reporting a 2GB card as a 1GB card in windows basically. I've replaced it with a new 8GB card and all seems to be working well!

Clockwork not loading up off 16Gb card

For some reason, I've put clockworkmod on my device and always use it to flash.
I have a 16gb Sandisk memory card, which at first worked fine with it.
All of a sudden, a Gingerbread ROM claimed the card to be corrupt?! So, I used Gingerbread to format.
Tried to do an update, and now the card isn't recognised by the A2SD setting of MAGDLR 1.1. I have to use a 4gb to flash now.
I tried formatting the 16gb card in windows (fat 32, 32k sizes), reapply the cwkmd files to the card, but still, MAGDLR won't load it.
Any ideas :-/

Did you do a quick format or a full format? If Quick, plz do a full, and try again.
Also, don't use the right-click format method. Go into disk management and do it there. Not promising anything - it's just better.
I found a bug in MAGLDR in my case. It would try and load CWM by K:\Recov\zImage then would write S and boot back to MAGLDR main menu. So here's what I did:
- Boot MAGLDR
- Click Load AD SD (Fails)
- Remove SD card while booted
- Click Load AD SD (fails again obviously)
- Put SD back in
- Click Load AD SD (Works)
Try that. Seems like an MAGLDR bug to be honest, because after setting the SD path, you can't edit it again... Even after flashing MAGLDR back to the phone (I've tried). I guess flashing stock WinMo then flashing back MAGLDR could fix the issue, but I haven't bothered.
I seldom have problems with MicroSD Cards, then again, I usually tend to buy Class 2 MicroSD cards that perform higher than Class 2 in terms of sequential writes. So, my MicroSD card writes at 7.x MB/s although it is a Class 2.
Anyways, try using a WIPE application, something that ZEROES out the whole card. Like the SD Formatter 3.0 (Beta) for SD/SDHC/SDXC. For me, I prefer to use [email protected] Disk.
Once the card is ZEROED out, just use your GParted to Partition it, if you need to. If not, just do a full format in Windows.
Ultimate Boot CD is an ISO which has a USB Script. So you just extract the ISO, then run the CD2USB script to make a bootable USB Flash Drive with a lot of useful tools.

I had the same issue - 8GB MicroSD. Tried manual formatting, re-setting the card TNA. [email protected] Disk did not work either, but SD Formatter 3.0 worked perfectly!
Thanks a lot for this tip!
There are a few steps you can try to get your card working again.
1 - Full format, I know it has been mentioned but it is surprising how much a full format can help
2 - Try a non Microsoft tool like 'Panasonic SD Formatter', google it. I wipes out any partitions as well.
3 - 'Partition Wizard' for Windows. This is a great alternative to Gparted but for Windows and free.
4 - If all these fail, then it dont hurt to try Gparted, I dont see it will help but you never know.
All of those failing and it is a new card, get a refund.
I recently bought a 16GB from Ebay and they sent refund without even asking for the card back so I know you can get some dodgy Micro SD Cards.
Good luck
Yep - the Panasonic SD formatter fixed it using a Full 0's write! Many thanks to all.
update your magldr to 1.12 and try it it worked for me using 16gb class 2
YOU MIGHT want to RESET your device in NAND
that could also help when troubles arrive

I had a problem getting CWM to load also. It finally worked once I deleted the volume name and reformatted.

damaged sd

I just switched from a 2.2 version of android to a gingerbread version on my hd2. The problem I am having is that now my phone says SD card damaged. It worked on my old version and is Able to be read when I'm in magldr and use USB mass storage but not on this android. I tried to format in android that didn't work and tried formatting with windows. I don't understand why it can be read sometimes but not others but would appreciate it if someone could help me get this to work or atleast get it to reformat so can be used. Thanks
What exact ROM are you using? Were you running any partitions(EXT3/EXT4).
Gpc_hd2_gingerbread_v1.7
No partitions
what did you use to try and format it in windows? search in the forum for the panasonic sd formatter or google it if you haven't tried using it already.
I have not tried the Panasonic SD formatter I will give it a try at work since my computer is down for the time being. What is the difference between that program and the windows formatting program though?
In simple terms, one does it better than the other.

You also have to consider d possibility dat ur sd card is losing it gradually...My previous 8GB sd card works flawlessly on WinMo but whenever i flash an android build (tried several, same result), it works 4 awhile then mounts as read only or as ur described, sd damaged...a quick 4mat wit panasonic sd formatter wakes it back only for it 2 repeat d process....
I bought another sd card and haven't had any issues wit it watsoever...my old 8gb card still works but i guess its 2 weak for android's constant reading & writing.
Im having the same problem. Card works fine in everything but Android on HD2, NAND not SD Rom.
Ive formatted form Windows but i'll try the Panasonic one as well. If not would a 16GB card be compatible or would it be too big?
The size isn't a problem as long as your phone supports it. Just make sure you format the correct ext size partitions etc...
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA Premium App
Is there a guide/thread explaining how I go about creating ext size partitions on SD cards & what size etc?
I run off a NAND ROM if that makes any difference?
Sorry i'm new to Android!
I tried the Panasonic formatter but it still says damaged SD. Still works in mass storage mdgrl or whatever it is. And asks to be formatted when I try to use it in XP

I have the same ROM & just keeps saying SD card damaged. I've formatted in windows & in the clockwork recovery tool but to no avail. I dont want to buy a new card just to have the same problem!
You should avoid using mass storage in MAGLDR.

[Q] unable to upgrade custom rom - magldr

hello, i got a 4gb sd card which works perfectly with magldr (1.13) and im enjoying a custom rom on my hd2 for a few months now
now, i recently got a 16 gb sd card and i tried to flash in various roms such as BoxmaX.S3.5.v6.0
but every time i turn on the phone it get stuck in various loading phases (most of them in the android/htc logo)
but when im using my old card everythings works great with the old rom, i dont want to overwrite it if it is not necessary
i formatted the new card several times and yet the problem stays the same.
i would appreciate your help.
every sd card isn't good for android. avoid using cheap, low-quality cards. i think sandisk is the best for hd2.
Are you using sd-ext?
If i was you i would task 29, reformat the sd card using panasonic sd formatter and use slow erase (better reliablity), reinstall magdlr, and download your choice of recovery for your rom.
reboot into magdlr and go to cwm and mount sd. It should pop up
worked for me for i have a 16 gig as well.
also you have to make sure what the system partion of your rom is as well. otherwise bootloops will commence.
let me know how it goes!
thank you

i did as you said, task 29, reformat with the formatter reinstall magldr and it works, the problem is that it is painfully slow now and it freezes for a minute now and than.
You can't 'flash' that ROM since it is an SD ROM (if I am not mistaken).
Their are different class SD cards, some are faster than others. However I do not know the numbers..

Class UHS I/class 10 micro sd compatibility.

Hello,
I've recently bought a Sandisk micro sd 32Gb class 10 for my HD2. The exact model is SDSDQU-032G-U46A.
I installed a rom via Native Sd method and everything ok until a couple of hours or so, and the phone hangs up. I had to pull of the battery and reboot. And then the same problem again. I released the micro sd and put in into the pc. To my surprise, the system ask me to format it
I reformatted it to fat32 but the issue is still there. I tried formatting the card with Sdformater, with minitool partition wizard, and other tools but everytime the same problem.
So finally, I thought it was a card failure and decided to ask for a refund. I received a new card, same model, and to my disappointment the new one was worse than the other one. I couldn't even install the rom, with a lot of partition errors. So I believe that there is a compatibility problem.
Anyone who has tried this card model can tell me his experience? What do you think, is it really a compatibility issue or I had bad luck?
Thank you for any help.
There is another guy having some problems with the sandisk class 10 32GB. He changed the sd, and everything worked flawlessly.
I'm not saying the sdcard is the problem, I'm saying that class 10 32GB is too good.
(Btw, I'm using the same class 10 ultra-sandisk but 16gb, and I never had a reboot on nativesd)

Hey I think I am using the same card as yours. The model number is SDSDQUA-032G-U46A. My card is working flawlessly. I have installed both Windows Phone 7 and Boxmax ROM . The SD card has 4 partitions. However, I do have issues with my phone, but it is not related to SD card. I bought the phone one month back from eBay. Well, I was unlucky and from the first day the phone has thermal problems, which has been discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982454
The seller probably sent me a refurbished piece. The phone hangs whenever I do something cpu intensive. So just a thought. Are you sure that it is problem with SD card? Or may be you can try some other ROM.
I'm pretty sure that it is the micro sd. I installed 3 different roms, all with the same result. I have tried same roms in other card and perfect.
Searching on the web I found this site http://www.sandiskcards.com/ where you can see which card is compatible with any devices. Regarding the HD2, it supports up to 32GB class 4 Sandisk micro sd. So I suppose that it's a compatiblity problem and there is nothing I can do about it.
However, there is people using a class 10 ultra-sandisk without issues at all. I'm confused.
Other who can share their experience?
Thanks.
Hey pepemonje,
did you ever try to fix permissions from within the android you are running? I had similar problems (programs being terminated and more) and tried to fix permissions from 4EXT and clockwork, but that didn't help. After fixing permissions with "NativeSDMultiboot" - "Tools" -> "Fix Permissions" those problems were mostly gone.
I'm not sure if that helps, its just a guess.
Regards

There are reports that NativeSD roms are not working very well with the SD card formatted via the mini tool. I myself encountered your issue. There are lots of FC and hangs up. I corrected this by simply performing a full wipe of data data/factory reset via the recovery. This will wipe out your data and format your Nand cache, SD Card Ext4 partition and linux swap if any in your SD, but will not touch your FAT32 windows partition and will remain intact. After that perform a fresh install and you should be good.
