wow i wish i waited a few months. i paid $400 dollars and split up the cost into 4 monthly payments, just paid my last $140 tab bill, ouch.. maybe time to dump it on ebay before the price goes down more
my tab has alot of scratches in the screen since i have taken off the screen protector. seems gorilla glass isnt as tough as they say. what can i do? does tmobile or samsung have any kind of warranty?
Not against normal wear & tear unfortunately. The scratches aren't covered under warranty.
ok well what could happen to my tab that would be covered?
Here's the actual warranty coverage info...
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/warranty/SGH-T849ZKATMB
What does the title in this thread mean?
Is it true that the T-mobile tab is now $250 w/2 year contract? I don't see this at the t-mobile site.

Hey peeps! I'm getting a nexus 7 and I'm wondering of anyone is getting insurance on their device. I know it has the manufactures warranty but it doesn't cover things an insurance policy would. I'm thinking to get it insured.... .

I don't even know if you can just for something that costs $199. If you could, I don't think it'd be worth it. In my case, it would fall under my renter's insurance--although IIRC my deductible is around $200.
It's £60 here for an extended 2 year warranty including damage, not worth it for a £190 tablet.

Yeah I've seen it for £40 for 2 years.. just as its budget not sure how long it would last lol.

i'll be registering it with my bank for insurance....£5 per month covers phone, tablet, keys, wallet, IDs and car breakdown so I'm doing it regardless of the price of the nexus 7
I wonder if it would be covered through Homeowners insurance.
You can take it to best buy and buy a protection warranty. Only thing is, for a tablet like this it costs 199.99. WTF! I'm not paying another 200 on top of the 250 I just paid. That's like paying for a $450 iP*d (had to censor or I would get killed ;p )
"extra" insurance is always a scam. (i'm talking for Europe). First you pay about 25%+ insurance fees and in case something happens you will pay "own risk/excess" and documentation costs. In many cases you'll pay within a year the full amount you need for replacing when something happens.
Never get extra insurance for something you can afford to buy a new one. Much cheaper in the long run!
What about a place like SquareTrade? They seem to offer good warranty for decent pricing
I just got a quote for a $279 tablet for $27 two year warranty.....

So a 2 year warranty costs $27? I wonder how many arms & legs the deductible costs.

If it's one of their common covered issues there is no deductible.

It should be. Check with your agent to be sure. Also check what your deductible is.
At least with my insurance, if I'd drop it and the screen would break, it would be covered. Some extended warranties will not cover, um, "user error" like that. In general extended warranties are a scam and a MASSIVE money maker for places like Best Buy.

Square Trade's warranty's are awesome. My wife dropped her iPad 2 on a tile floor and shattered the screen. Square trade sent a padded box by next day air and paid for next day air shipping both ways. We got the box, they got it next day, it was repaired and returned on the same day the got it. We received a repaired iPad 2 in 3 days and it didn't cost us a dime extra.

so you're saying there is not deductible? and just pay roughly 25 bucks for 2 years of warranty?
I dropped my Transformer and cracked the screen about 2 weeks after I bought it. SquareTrade couldn't replace the glass within 7 days (this was when the Transformer first came out) so they sent me a check for $450 for replacement. I did have the accident insurance on it, and they were really great to work with. - sheureka

Went to the square trade website and it's actually $60 for 2 years if you want coverage for drops, spills and other accidental damage. Still not bad of a deal.
No that's not bad at all. Idk of other places to get a warranty or else I would compare

Don't think for a minute that it cost a lot for a screen....There may be high sales now but soon the true cost will be no more than $80.00. Remeber true cost for many phones to OEMS like Apple is $65-100.00. What do you guys think! Here are a few links that I came up with for LCD, and digitizer replacement. Feel free to post and add more for those in need that will be organized into one thread.

I am on t-mobile and got insurance for $7.99/month. For ~$100 per year it will pay for itself for two years if I replace the phone once.
Insurance is worth it imo because screen damage is only one possible problem. There is also water damage, theft or other defects that may present themselves after the manufacturer warranty expires.

Yes but carriers may soon have parts to replace screens for like free or a small fee. I paid 35.00 to replace my EVO 4g cracked screen

Last time I checked Squaretrade was a much better option, but doesn't cover theft. It's only offered for the first 30 days of ownership. Also, the deductible for both is very high.

Ensquared is $58.99 for 1 year of coverage and they cover everything including spills, drops, loss and theft. Their deductible is $75.

I used to work for them. A lot of people assume that they get their phone replaced with a new one in-store, but they don't. It gets shipped out and repaired if possible. Cracked screens are almost always repaired. They try their hardest to avoid giving the customer a new phone. But if they have replace the phone, it's a refurb. If there are no replacements available, they get store credit for the amount they paid for the phone.

This information is very outdated as it has changed a bit ago. The phone gets sent out (you can get a loaner phone if available for $50. This gets refunded when the loaner is returned). Usually within 1-5 business days you get your replacement phone (same model).

Soon? Psssh yeah right, not believable for a minute when a t959 vibrant (gs1) LCD screen replacement is $89 + free shipping and a t989 gs2 is $149 + free shipping, both from amazon and is the cheapest I have found.. which is about the same pricing as LCD replacement sites from China and wholesale sites like Alibaba and Aliexpress.
True though, their wholesale price should be about 3x less than retail but I've been searching extensively for weeks and there are no wholesalers selling for anything less than what I've stated above. It will be years until we see LCD screens for the gs3 at a respectable price, like claimed in the OP. By then the value of the gs3 will become greatly depreciated from what it is today since higher end phones will be available.
P.S none of those links work

Look at it...scratches. I dont have a screen protector but I've only had it two days and I keep it in a leather holster. Don't know how the hell it happened just after two days...FML!

In case, Squaretrade can't be beat..
$5.99 a month or a $99 one time fee for 2-years of coverage and a $99 deductible..
You can also buy best buys outright for $170 with no deductible and no limit to the claims. Also if they cannot fix/replace the phone they give you a store credit for the full retail of the phone so that you can pick something else out.

I've had my Note Pro for 16 days now and I know I will be keeping it. I have been contemplating on getting a accident protection plan because the tablet is so big & one small drop could kill it instantly. Di any of you purchase an accident protection plan...either Squaretrade or other...and if so are you glade you did? I have always had Assurion for my phones &never needed it until a few months ago when I dropped my Note 2 on concrete & cracked the screen. It was worth it to me at the time...
Thanks!!!

Yup this is my second note pro. First one was a total loss and was uninsured when I lost it by accident (stupidity really). On my second purchase I got squaretrade. No regrets, just peace of mind. Don't pay full price, Google for discount codes.

I've been looking for a coupon code and went through about 30 pages of google searches but all the codes were expired or used. I signed up for their newsletter & got a 20% off code but I seen codes that were 30-40%...With the 20% a 2 year plan will cost $95 (plan+ NYS tax) but i was hoping to bring it down a bit more if possible...
Well I decided to just call Squaretrade and ask for a discount and they gave me 30% off. So I did a 2 year $75 deductible plan for $79 and NO NYS sales tax!!! I hope I never need it but it's good to know I can get a new tablet if something were to happen!! If I didn't plan on using my tablet at work I'd probably wouldn't worry about a plan...but anything can happen out of the house!
***EDIT*** Well it looks like they did charge me NYS sales tax but still it was only $86....

I have purchased square plans for 4 devices now and have never had to use it. Two of the devices were sold on eBay at about 13 months old and I believe the plan helped mine sell very quickly as other units for sale on eBay that were less money had not. The warranties are transferable so that is also a plus. Sometimes you can get a better price on purchasing your plan from Amazon, Newegg or Tigerdirect even with a discount code direct from Squaretrade
My s6 edge cracked because I dropped it from my kitchen and now I wanna sell it . How much is the fair price for such condition? If I keep and use it, will it crack further down the road (assuming i won't drop it again). Attached are photos of the phone. It's T Mobile by the way.
The curved screen replacement of S6 Edge was around $200 - $250. At worst case, I would assume S6Edge+ would cost around $250 - $300. Now, an international variant costs around $700 on ebay. So your phone cost just went down to $400 - $450 with a cracked screen. Now, there could be some who are okay with using the cracked display and they might be willing to get the phone for like $500 at most. It's hard to tell what is the market worth, however, if I were to sell mine, I would assume the cost based on this.
I'll give you a fiver for it, no problem. Send me your PayPal address.
I wouldn't buy a cracked phone
I paid $500 for my sealed in box s6e+ but how much would you want ? im interested
One of those coloured tempered glass screen protectors would cover most of that, just leaving a little crack in the corner.
Either that or get insurance, and claim.
I bought Squaretrade on mine 129.00 for three years protection and 75.00 deductible. Not sure why anyone would not do this.
