Few days ago, a lil' goddam' birdy started to tickle my feelings repeating over and over again "reflash your stupid phone!!!"... So that's what I did.
Unfortunately it seems that I picked up the only one bad combination out there. A 2.1 Rogers over CM6. That's how I end up starring at my new HTC-magic shaped-brick showin' a sweet, white, batery hunger display on wich was written smth like 1.76.0010 S-ON boot and 3.22.20.17 Radio. It was like I could see a lower phrase of smth like "you are so screwed!!! ".
Anyway...
1st I used Magic_Rogers_3.54.631.3 again wich started to upload files on my phone but in the end it returned a bad signatures error. The same thing hapened when i tried to flash over fastboot.
Then I downloaded the official default ROM for my phone (TIM 32A). Wich obviously din't work since older versions of RUU updater were using adb to connect with the phone, and that's how I was stuck in RUU bootloader without any recovery or anything.
However. Since Rogers application was able to upload on the device, but the files couldn't be written because of the perfected SPL, it was clear that is using fastboot instead of adb for this, so I thought would be a good ideea, to flash via fastboot the orginal files wich could contain phone's signatures. Evrika!!! It WORKED!!! my brick is now a fully functional 32A Magic!
For this, you might want to download your default official software from HTC website using phone's serial number or from here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403 (since I'm kinnda' new I cannot post links )
Starting the RUU aplication, (no need for the phone to be plugged, we are only stealing some files right now) generates 2 temporary folders wich you can find here:
Vista / Win7 - %Root%\Users\%currentuser%\AppData\Local\Temp
WinXP - %Root%\Documents and Settings\%currentuser%\Local Settings\Temp\
Go to this location and search for the folder wich contains rom.zip (clean your temp folders before extracting... you don't wanna search for a file a whole day - especially if you started some RUU aplications before this one). This is the file you need. Unzip this file and fastboot flash your files from here.
Another method is to download the attached archive wich contains the RUU aplication from Rogers 2.1, unzip it and put the rom.zip in its folder then start it to flash your phone.
Hope this helped you, you allready know the disclaimer ****... "I'm not responsible for any damage you might do to your phone, bla bla"

You know what... this can actually be considered Development... sorta. It's productive enough to be. Certainly informative enough for inexperienced users. Although nothing was actually developed it's kind of in between.
Here's what I'll do, I'll move it to General but with a 90 day re-direct so it'll be in both for three months. Afterwards it'll be defaulted to General only.
Many Thanks!
My phone has been softbricked for almost a week before I came across this. I couldn't extract the rom.zip so I downloaded your archive and copied the rom over and it worked. Thank you!
Just a note to anyone else, I have a Rogers Magic and I used the rom generated by the RUU_Sapphire_Rogers_WWE_2.17.631.2_release_signed_NoDriver.exe. My phone did hand up when it tried to update the radio. The phone screen went to a dark blue and the progress bar stopped rising after about 5 minutes. I unplugged the phone, rebooted it and plugged it back in, the RUU attempted the update a second time and succeeded.
Hey my cust id is 038 Airtel India for which only 1 rom is available 3.05.720.3 India

Ok, try this. Extract Rom1.zip to a folder. Open rom.zip and extract ONLY radio.img and hboot_7200A_1.76.0009_091208 to the same place where you extracted rom1.zip (EG - Rom1 folder). Now delete both archives, and make a zip archive containing the files from Rom1 folder (files only without the folder itself). Name this archive rom.zip, put it into your RUUapp downloaded from here (before that, don't forget to delete rom1.zip + rom.zip from there), and try flash it like that. If this does not work, try to extract boot_special.img as well and repeat the procedure. But i think this boot special file is responsible for your error since i don't find it on any other package. I don't know if HTC zip files have special atributes or they are pure zip files. Maybe some one could tell us about this.
@andreas - Who are you asking? I used TIM official RUU since I have a TIM 32A. Try using the exact rom from your phone brander.
Cheers!

If that is the rom, it gives customer id error despite gold card.
That's the rom allright. I'll upload it later and post the address here.
If both methods give you sig error try using EU zip.

Hey guys
The volume rocker on my HD2 is broken, and I have cLK flashed on my device. My problem is that I can only boot into cLK and fastboot mode as recovery is useless to me because I cant navigate through the options using the volume rocker.
I am looking for a rom (android/winmo) that is a .img file so that I can flash through fastboot, or if any of you know any other possible way I can flash a rom through fastboot so I can get my phone working again. Right now I dont mind which rom I flash, as long as I get my phone in working order again.
All help is GREATLY appreciated....!!!
If anyone also knows how I can compile a rom into a .img file so I can flash through fastboot, that is also welcomed help!
Any ROM you download that is for cLK has a. img file in it. you will have to extract the file from the. zip hou download to find it. Read my post here it will give youthe details on how to flash your ROM.

Sorry for the late response but those two files do get used, the img file oules the information from them as it is flashing. To put it simply when you initiate the flash the img does the rest of the work. The img file is sort of like a cab file for Windows Mobile only it is not all self contained and has more functions than just to install the software. Note I said sort of not exactly like, that is just a comparison to help you understand. When you flash a Android ROM via CWM it essentialy just activates the img file to flash the ROM.
Daf roms come as a system.img
or
if you have access to another hd2, flash the target rom to it and then use mkyaffs2img command in the terminal to dump the system folder to a system.img file.
Benefit of this would be you can tweak the rom(reduce size for example, by removing unwanted apps) before you dump to system.img

Thanks for getting back to me buddy! Unfortunately I dont have a second HD2, and I dont know anyone willing to help me out in Greece, lol... Would you be willing to dump your system folder for me and upload it so I can use yours?? I would GREATLY appreciate the help... sitting with my HD2 "semi" bricked... lol
Also, if I use the .img file from the DAF roms, can I flash it using fastboot??? You have any suggestions on how I can flash it considering I cant use the volume rocker on my mobile?
Well id like to say yes but it's Easter weekend and my sons 1st birthday tomorrow, so the likelihood of getting near a PC are slim for a few days.
You could always learn how to use the android emulator,, build the image on a virtual hd2
As for flashing,,, no idea, no clue what fastboot does, magldr for me, but in your OP you implied you could use it to write img files to partitions.
You ever got a solution for this? I'm in the exact same situation right now.
Hi
Can an XTC clip owner/user please share PC49DIAG.img, PC49Diag.nb0, PC49IMG.nb0. I have searched high and low for these but cannot find them, nor how to create them. Also a hex image of sdcard may be useful. Could be large upload consider using a torrent.
Thanks in advance
and
what's the point in having these files??
i mean , why do you want them?
sorry 4 my english
Here you have PC49DIAG.zip --> http://download.hellshare.com/pc49diag-zip/2375740/ i think that this zip contains that 3 files you want... im downloading now
sorry fail... inside that zip there are these files
android-info
boot.img
radio.img
rcdata.img
recovery.img
splash1.nb0
system.img
userdata.img
Yeah, I have found pc49diag as you have, but I don't think its genuine, its just a renamed ROM. Isn't PC49DIAG an unlocking program? Can it help with root? Although it may be phone specific, is it linked to CID or IMEI or something?
If it is can it be spoofed or are these files useless to me?
Still want to see them even if they are, out of curiosity?

You need the device to S-OFF, The files are just to move the phone into Diagmode from HBOOT.
However you need the XTC device in order to remove security.(It connects to the sim slot)

Ok u r working on froyo root. Thats great.
I don't know about the use of those files, but i think they should not have any role in rooting / unlocking. Because wildfire doesnt have the fastboot flash rooting support.
And about pc49img.zip (not the one u asked), it is just a zip file to be recognised by wildfire fastboot menu. It encloses custom files for updating wildfire different things as per the users need. (hboot, radio, recovery). Also flashes custom recovery in s-off devices.
U need to tell the purpose while asking those above files, otherwise u will be more likely getting roms, radios, recoveries..... what u meant by "genuine file" is the purpose there.
[correct me if im wrong]. OK GOOD LUCK FOR THE ROOT.
Look for "Skye's Full XTC Clip Rooting/CROM guid" topic @ the development section, 2nd post.
How do you get the system folder out of an ruu?
Mainly /system/app
Uhh Ohhh!
Whislt trying to see if the ruu Would extract any files to my comp. I didnt realise my wildfire was plugged in! Will it be ok?
P.s it was a Wildfire S RUU!
It didnt change or edit anything!?
CM7 still!
Lol just imagine using a WF S ruu and ending up with Sense 2.1
Ontopic: Try using one of the "safe" RUUs found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
They are flashable files so you can see if you can find anything useful in there.
Hi. Sorry for my english, but if U want extract rom files from RUU exe you must do this.
1. Start RUU exe to first screen, and leave it. Don't close.
2. Go to %TEMP folder (strat->run->%TEMP or samething like that %TEMP%???)
3. Search for file ROM.zip (iT schould be in one of those strange name folders, you can use search tool)
ROM.zip contains ale files to flash wf. Radio, hboot etc

It won't change anything. Even flashing an ruu of different region ends up with error. How can a different device ruu make changes to the wildfire.
And I think you are attempting to extract wildfire s apps and install it in wildfire . But it will not work. Those apps will be HTC only and device specific AFAIK. Otherwise I think we would have had great features.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Coming to the process of extracting system/apps from an ruu.
Donot connect the phone to pc. First click on the windows pc start and type "%temp%" without quotes and enter. This opens the user temporary folder. Now open the ruu and wait for a couple of minutes. Do not go with the process. Just keep the ruu window aside. Now if you see the temporary folder, there will be a couple of folders created which will have a lengthier name within the { } brackets. If you search in these folders you will find a Rom.zip file. Copy this Rom.zip file to a safe location.
The rom.zip contains the system.img and other img files. Now you should extract the contents of img files with a seperate tool called unyaffs. There is also an Android application in particular for doing that (yaffs expert). This is the thread to go for that process.

You should be able to extract the boot and system images from Google's factory image.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam
I wasn't aware that the kitchen worked with the Nexus 4 as its still listed as one of the unsupported devices but the thread hasn't been updated since October of last year so maybe that changed.
this is copied from dsixda's kitchen thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 post #3):
How do I import a ROM into the kitchen to use as my base?
(The instructions below are for HTC devices in general. For other devices, please visit the appropriate thread.)
From a shipped ROM:
First, find the shipped ROM for your device, usually from htc.com or from searching xda-developers (check the Wiki or sticky posts under your device's sub-forum).
This link may help: Various devices
Please don't ask me for links, as I don't know everything or own all devices.
The shipped ROM can be found in three different formats. Identify the type you have downloaded:
If the shipped ROM is in a .ZIP format, then simply copy it to the kitchen's original_update folder.
OR if the shipped ROM consists of system.img and boot.img files, then copy those two files to the kitchen's original_update folder. If the ROM also includes a lib.img (found in some newer HTC ROMs), then copy that as well!
OR if the shipped ROM is in an .EXE format, then do the following:
In Windows, run the shipped ROM's .EXE file till it gets to the first dialog. Stop there but don't close the window yet.
Go to Start->Run and type: %TEMP%
When the folder opens, search for Rom.zip (use the "magnifying glass" Search button)
Copy Rom.zip to your kitchen's original_update folder
OR from a cooked/custom ROM:
Copy the update.zip (or equivalent ZIP file) to your kitchen's original_update folder
OR from a Nandroid backup (under /sdcard/nandroid) [NOT RECOMMENDED FOR NON-STOCK ROM BACKUPS]:
Copy the system.img and boot.img files from the backup folder to your kitchen's original_update folder
Hm, i see. But the problem with the dev links for Google is that it's 4.2.2 and not 4.2.1... I would like to stay to an older version for the moment, with those problems with bootloaders, kernels etc... I will try with system and boot img, thanks !
Sent from my Blade S using xda app-developers app
Well, i tried to use the tutorial about shipped rom, but my system.img and boot.img files aren't recognized by the kitchen... So i don't know how to do Halp ?
In this thread you have posted link to factory image with android 4.2.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848
Great !! Thanks a lot eskeyy !
