Bit late to the party, aren't you John? We already have custom kernels based off KB1.
Thank you for at least showing the initiative as a company to point it out for the modding community, though.
Releasing the source to Froyo late and no mention of fixing the current issues or future releases.... nice
Oh god, it's you again.
Sent from my Captivate
Cool.
How about a JV1 leaked Source Code?
Johnny come lately

Now that OTA3 ICS is released is anyone working on a root method for it for those who buy new tablets installed with ICS, who lost root in the upgrade or who have their system boards replaced ???

I think someone may be working on it as we speak, but I don't think this is the right place to post such a question. The general section would have been appropriate for the same.
Lets keep the dev section for sole dev purposes only.
Cheers
Vito

They just released the source code for it.
Maybe a savvy programmer can help FIX it!
I have so many problems with slowness even after a fresh format. Really want a nice clean no BS ICS install, why is that so hard to ask.

The ICS source code was recently released.. New to forum and can't post link, but it's on Lenovo's site or the Lenovo forum.

Yep. See this link.
Seems like Lenovo has managed to make this tablet pretty "secure". Bummrr lol
gah the op had me hopeful! guess we'll just have to wait, something tpt users are very good at by now.
It seems unlikely that Lenovo will give us a Jellybean update so rooting and flashing will be the only hope for most.

No need to check, surprisingly you're not the first person who read this. There have been statements about it by developers already.

source code is code that you build the rom with. miui isnt open source, so they dont publish their source. they arent allowed to post on xda because of that.
file removed, thread closed.
This guy gets his kicks trying to get people to flash bogus files, please report anything that even remotely looks like this.
Thanks.

We get our kicks dealing with jokers like this Member, he wants to do nothing but harm the Communities on XDA via their devices....
But he doesn't know we are here....:highfive: well he does now :highfive:
I am not a developer but just found out this news, maybe is important for ROM development.

They posted a new guide in the right place, check the Sony dev homepage
I wonder if can I use ROM built on Z3's open source kernel without Unlock bootloader?
That's all I need, because Sony has lock some feature if unlock bootloader, so I like to use stock kernel rather than custom one.

I have been running about, trying to create a basic custom ROM for my device.
Have tried most of the methods mentioned in forums. Nothing seems to work.
Anybody out here who can guide me through it?
Also, explaining customising the Android system.
Thanking everyone in advance.

If you are an up and coming developer (I am assuming) then Github or the best place to start would be from lineage os website and their guide "how to build for your device".
And ofc you would need all possible help from our lead device developers like Shivam Kumar Jha and Sagar for the device trees, kernel source codes and what not!! I have no clue.
The base is already compiled from AOSP by the respective main contributors rather head developers. You have to take the source code and tweak it/compile it (ofc not easy) for our device.
You asked the question to explain android customisation in general!!! Well, if you don't know that, then unless you are on NZT-48 or a really genius programmer, I doubt you can do it. (Also great if you prove me wrong here). Don't mean to discourage you.
Wouldn't we do it all for ourselves??!!!!!
For Android customization - the basics would be to root and go tweaking, fiddling and modding around on the stock rom first. Lots of amazing stuff already. (Why to reinvent the wheel!)
Then depends on your requirements.
Good luck.

A real thank you.
Have already started the learning process.
Hope to come up with a ROM soon.

Good stuff!!
Attaboy:good:
I am trying the same thing myself using the lineageOS 15.1 branch.
I am using the directions provided in the lineageOS Wiki for the X00TD device (can't post a link because i am a newbie).
The instructions are clear enough but I am having specific problems with the brunch command - specific errors come up for missing files.
Is this the right place to start posting specific technical questions?
