Hi all, fortunately I have my motorola Atrix but I have a problem when playing videos by hdmi to TV, connect the phone and it started the implementation of video on TV but nothing comes out, it is as if not detected, know if I have to do something special on the phone to work this out??
Thanks and regards
Do you select the webtop or media setting once you plug it in? If so, and you aren't getting anything, then your unit might be defective.

hello I am Spanish and do not quite understand what I say, I connect my phone to the TV by HDMI and then open the rocketplayer by example and not play anything on TV.
I've seen people talking about playing with the entertaiment center hd but can not find how to start that application. I've seen that in managing applications is a size 0.0B, may be why?
Where I can get this application??
Thanks and regards.

When you plug in the HDMI cable, a pop-up should appear on the phone asking to start the HD Entertainment Center. That's the only way to get video-out onto the TV. If this isn't popping up and you haven't done anything to modify your phone software, then your device my have a problem.
ok thanks for the help, the only modification I've done is to make the root software, nothing else has that something to do?
I have only tested on a old TV, I'll try another to see if that is the problem, my TV is the first that came with hdmi at best can that be right?
Greetings
My Atrix had something wrong with it's HDMI, I had to return it and get a new one. When I plugged it in to a TV the phone would act properly (the pop-up menu would appear, and the controls would be present when the media center was selected) but I wouldn't see anything but snow on my TV. I also tried a HDMI computer monitor to the same effect. I lastly went to the ATT store and tried a dock, same problem.
Interesting to know that it was more than just mine.
Oh, mine was stock, not rooted yet.
-Tom
Hi all, ultimately the problem is not the phone, I tested a friend's TV and it works perfectly, when you connect me jump hd window center and all good, so I have a problem with my TV.
If someone happens just as well try it on another TV in case.
Thanks for the tips and greetings.

Hello,
anybody else got a problem with TV OUT ?
I cannot make it work. And when entering the Service/Test Mode, it won't work there either! Its setting is OFF.
In comManager its all greyed out, no matter if connected with a cable to a tv or not.
There is a reg setting about it and when I enable it there, it shows enabled, but it actually is NOT.
So I am wondering if this is perhaps MY hardware or if there is any 'secret' to it, to make it work.
Thanks!
Everybody's elses TV OUT working fine???
Hey what is this, no replies at all. Should I believe EVERYBODIES TV OUT is working fine?
Or nobody using that at all? I want to know if with all you out there, the TVout in connection manager is greyed out or not (with or without a plug).
Even in service/test mode my setting is OFF and cannot be changed.
Need to know if this is just mine and the hardware is perhaps broken. Thanks!
Mine works.
(I used it very rarely but it's good to know it there)
MS Direct Push not working either?!?!
Good to know at least somebody's works! If you go to connection manager, the TV screen is greyed out on mine, on yours its yellow?
And what about the square where you put the ckeckmark, its greyed on mine, on yours not?
Now, what is your software version?
Thanks

When the cable is not connected, the TV out checkbox in Connection Manager is greyed out. The moment I connect the cable to both phone and TV, a menu pops up and shows a picture and two aspect ratio options to choose from.
Are you sure it's not the cable or the input on the TV faulty? I mean it is clear for me the TV out option is available only after a connection between phone and a valid input of a working TV has been established. Dunno, try other tv sets?
My phone software is plain 6.5.3 generic UK. only mods are sd card fix and overclocking, so very little to do with the matter we are discussing.
Yeah, I tried different TVs. But since it won't even work in TestMenu, I figure it my hardware now.
You see, in testmenu, one does not even need to connect a TV because it will be displayed on the lcd. And no cable needed either.
What is your manufacture date? Its inside battery compartment on white sticker, like 09Wxx or 10Wxx.
Mine says 09W48

I'm too facing the same problem..

Hey all, I just got an A500, rooted it, flashed bootloader, recovery, custom ROM, all is good. One issue, I did not see anything on point in the Q&A section on this. I have a standard HDMI cable hooked between my laptop and second monitor. I did get a micro HDMI adapter. I pulled the cable from the laptop and plugged it into the tablet. Black screen on the monitor, although the orientation on the tablet does switch. When I pull the cable out of the tablet I do get a "check signal cable" message across the monitor, so it does seem to be "connecting". I've searched every setting on the tablet, there doesn't seem to be anything else I need to do on it. Am I missing something? The monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 940BW, fwiw. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Which ROM are you using for your tablet? ICS or JB? I have a Sony Bravia and when using ICS ROM, everything worked fine. But for the JB, only video but no sounds on the TV, only sound from tablet. It's a known issue for JB ROM. Is this the first time that you use the HDMI from tablet to TV? If yes, I suggest you check the TV's manual for set up option for HDMI. For my Sony TV, I had to use the remote control to select the input option every time I connect the tablet to TV.

PJ Sports 10/27, yes, JB. Sorry, I did not make it clear that I am trying to plug it into my 2nd monitor, not a TV. So, effectively it's a direct path from the tablet to the monitor. Does that help to clarify?
So I got a Nexus Player the other day, but when I plugged it in, I get a blank screen although occasionally I'll see a flash of an image from the device for less than a second.
TV knows that there's a signal, it displays a PCM, 16:9 and 1080p logos when player is powered up, or No Signal when it's powered down
Player works fine when I plugged it into a monitor that I had in another room, and I've tried 3 different HDMI cables (primary cable being an Amazon High Speed HDMI). When I had it installed on the monitor I downloaded the 5.0 upgrade, but that didn't help.
Updated TV software too, no joy.
Called Google, they said call LG. Called LG, they said it's not them.
Google talked about escalating to someone higher than the help desk, but I suspect that's stalled at least until next week. They're also offering to replace the player now too, but I'm not hopeful and increasingly convinced that there's something basically incompatible between this TV (LG 65LB6300) and the Nexus Player. If I had to describe it, it looks like when you'd set your monitor to an invalid resolution / refersh rate back in the CRT days... you might get an image for a second, but then the screen goes blank.
Any thoughts on other options that I might try or should I abandon hope and ask for a refund?
Could be a wonky hdmi cable or connection. If you have other devices via hdmi and they're working, try swapping one of those known good cables and see if it fixes it.

I've tried 3 different cables and swapping with my blueray player (blue worked fine on both ports with any of the 3 cables.
Google's troubleshooting steps include:
Step 5: Try the Nexus Player on a different TV.
If the Nexus Player works with another TV, there may be a compatibility issue between the Nexus Player and the original TV. Contact the manufacturer for additional guidance.
Feels like I've got that compatibility issues and neither party knows what's up.
I'm having the same issue with my LG 55EC9300. The Nexus Player won't display anything on the TV screen (which just remains black). I've tried all the troubleshooting steps available on the Google support pages, including factory resetting the Nexus Player, and nothing has worked.
The TV does seem to recognize that a Nexus Player is attached because it says "Nexus Player" in the TV's input menu when it's connected via HDMI.
Please let me know what you hear.
I just ordered a NP, I got a LG 50LB5900 will test it out when it arrives, luckily I have two options a smart bluray with HDMI in, I hope this doesn't span all new LG units. This needs to get escalated properly and hopefully google will contact LG if it is their issue. I'd call google and escalate it and use this thread as a reference.
defconoi, I'll be anxious to hear your results. I tried pass-thru on my samsung stereo/dvd player. It picked up the audio just fine but the video still had the same problem. If I understand correctly, your LB5900 isn't SmartTV/WebOS, so hopefully you'll be unaffected.
Still doing email dialog with Google, if they can't offer something solid this week I may be asking for a refund on this thing.
I have same issue on an LB6300.
I've tried the Nexus player on a couple other TVs in the house and can confirm it works fine on them, but only a blank screen on the LB6300. I've tried the same troubleshooting steps, but no luck. Very disappointing, this was the TV I wanted to run the Nexus on.
I have that same problem on 42LB671V
black screen on 3 different hdmi cable
on the old tv Mirai it works ok.

My Samsung smart Blu-ray player has a HDMI input that the nexus player works with, it also supports more audio codecs than my LG TV, for now I got it connected via that until my optical cables come in. As a fix for this issue you guys could probably use a HDMI converter box or adapter, im not quite sure which one would work, but I'd do some googling. The Nexus player is awesome, if it didnt work on my TV i'd find a cheap solution.

I'm trying to think thru options here... what I'm looking for is to a device that can intercept the HDMI signal, decode it, and then re-encode it to HDMI again (HDMI is the only vialable input option on my TV)... Maybe 2 boxes, [hdmi -> composite] -> [composite -> hdmi]
Maybe I just need to figure out a way to access the composite input on my tv - it's obstructed by the mounting brackets.
Sympathies to you xgrey, but I'm glad to hear that more than one model is affected...
My 55LG just arrived today; out of the box my nexus player worked with it fine. I noticed at times i was getting some audio desyncing caused by the tv of all things but turning the tv off and on fixed it. Well I applied 2 updates and now I'm getting the same issue. This has to be sdome sort of LG or webos trying to block google. My chromecast is still showing up fine.

I'm returning mine sucks it doesn't work on my LG tv...Might just have to go get a Samsung g a an sell my LG tv..lol..really blows that the nexus player won't work on my LG tv..Google says it should work .they say my player is defective lol..
Anybody else having any luck?
Nexus player wont play on lg web os 70lb6560-ta
I have the same problem with my LG 70LB6560-TA. The Nexus Player plays on all other (3) TV's I have except the 70LB6560-TA(WEB OS). This has exactly the same problem that toturi writes where the screen flashes on for a second then goes off for a minute. I have tried several new cables and all the HDMI ports on the TV with no success. I have called LG but I get all the usual noob "Please check" questions.
Partial Success
Last Friday I picked up an HDMI->Composite adapter, I'm calling this a partial solution.
Good news it that it works, bad news is that I'm only getting 720p now rather than 1080. This is fine for things like Castle of Illusion, but I'm not sure I'm that excited for movies. (I've got to make the call this week on returning the whole thing and I'm really on the fence).
Also, WTF was LG thinking with the placement of the Power, Digital Audio, Ethernet, and Composite ports all positioned perpendicular to the screen and INSIDE THE FREAKING VESA MOUNTS??!?... Hacking thru the steel VESA mount to get at my Composite port wasn't real cool.
If anyone happens to see this thread before you've taken the plunge, I'd say skip the LG. Not sure if Samsung or Sony are better, but LG seems to be doing a lot a bone-headed things lately ...that reminds me that I need to write a rant about my LG refrigerator too.
Anyway, using the composite solution is one route that you may consider, but not a perfect solution. Hopefully Google can still out-smart whatever it is that LG did to break HDMI (can we get them de-certified for the right to label their TVs HDMI over this?!)

I'm trying to build a list, can you share your model number? Here's what I've captured so far:
70LB6560-TA
55LB7200
55lb6300
42LB671V
55EC9300
65LB6300
There's likely a common thread here of WebOS-TVs or if it wasn't deliberate, then a chipset that's just bad (and who knows what other devices might be impacted!)

Hello All.
I'm new to the forum and I've been messing around with my MOJO for about a week now since I received it in the mail. I have been plagued with a couple issues, but the experience has been overall positive. I updated the firmware and rooted it using Mad Catz's tutorial. And recently I noticed the new OS upgrade by Unjustified Dev. I haven't decided whether I want to move forward with it yet, because it does void the warranty after all.
I downloaded a boatload of apps and games to play around with. So far no issues until 2 days ago when the MOJO started freezing. It would sometimes get stuck and then eventually respond, but other times it would freeze entirely. It froze 3 times yesterday and 2 times today before I gave up with it. Not sure what to do. Should I upgrade to the new unofficial OS, or should I just return the MOJO?
I also made a quick review of the MOJO a couple days ago before the freezing began happening. See it at /watch?v=MjALrGzpQ4A
The video shows the PSX to USB adapter I tested with much success! As well as a webcam that works with video AND microphone audio. I just can't figure out how to get it to work with Skype and Messenger, as if it were a built-in camera like any other smartphone.
I had constant freezes too using the official software. I upgraded to CyanogenMod 12.1 and it has never frozen since.
Edit: I moved this post over to the CM12.1 thead instead because it was more relevant.
UPDATE: I upgraded to CM12.1 by Unjustified Dev and it works great. Unfortunately I had some trouble getting it to work in the beginning but it seems to function perfect now. It still works with the PSX to USB adapter, but I have yet to try it with a webcam.
Hi all,
I've only had my MOJO for a week or two at this point, but I wanted to throw my two cents in since I had the freezing and didn't end up updating to one of unjustified's roms yet (although I did root with towelroot).
I noticed the freezing occasionally when I had the MOJO multitasking quite a bit.
Restarting the MOJO once a day or so seems to have kept the freezing at bay. I have limitless remote service installed so I can control the MOJO with my phone to save controller battery, so I just use that to restart the thing if I remember or if I feel like it needs it. Being an "always on device" I'm not sure if the caches being cleared etc. is what the issue was, but since I've been restarting the MOJO on a regular basis (much the way I do with my phone) it hasn't really been an issue.

The freezing only started for me about the same time (after 2 weeks from purchase). But after upgrading to CM12, I can confidently say that it is far superior to the Mad Catz stock version of Android, and its totally reversible. If you need any further assistance on how to get it installed, I can help. However, I didn't do the towelroot way, I used USB-USB.
I actually didn't even know that Remix 2.0 was a thing. And now that I know, I may try installing it on my old Dell netbook. Windows Starter ran like crap, but Ubuntu worked better. I can only hope that Remix 2.0 will run even more smoothly.

Hey, thanks for talking about the peripherals here and in your video. I went ahead and got the playstation to usb adapter. I just need to keymap the dual-shock 2's, and 4-player games can be a thing without having to buy more controllers.
Another side-note: I believe you were speculating in your video about if an optical drive would work with the MOJO? I tested mine out (LG GP50NB40) , but couldn't get it to work with or without extra external power. I did find out that Samsung makes one specifically meant to mount on Android devices that's supposed to work on the Nvidia Shield, so I imagine that one works.

I saw, somewhere on the TransformerForums, a post about that--some optical drives can be set to work with Android. (Asus Transformers, at least the older ones, are Tegra-powered Droids). If I get time I'll try to find the post, not right now for sure. Google is a good friend of mine...

Yes, I was extremely surprised that the PSX to USB adapter worked so perfectly. I do wonder if you could get 2 of them and connect them to powered USB hub and get all 4 wired controllers to be registered.
FYI, I found out recently that you can actually stream ROM files through ES File Explorer using any of Robert Broglia's emulators on a DLNA/uPnP server, which is AWESOME! That means you could have multiple Android devices streaming games to multiple emulators all from one place, without needing to be directly connected.

This is the video I saw regarding the external optical drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvoyab75QgQ
It may be a FAT32 format issue.

I checked Amazon, it's available in black or white, a bit over US$100.

Thanks for posting this, that's a good find. I guess it's just a question of if a person's needs justify paying a bit more for a bluray drive that won't let them watch bluray's on the MOJO legally. Even if that's not a consideration, it's a clear case of proprietary garbage rearing it's self-eating head again. I digress.
It almost seems just a matter of time before Google builds this into a future version of Android (unless physical media sales continue to be replaced by digital).
Here's the Samsung DVD drive demo'd on the Shield TV that I was mentioning above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnwynmT8GVI
Apparently, Samsung has been quick to make Android compatible optical drives to enhance their Galaxy brand: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2406001,00.asp

I'm thinking the question is why Google hasn't added the few necessary drivers & codecs to Android to support optical drives natively--maybe just to support Samsung's market corner? Or simply not enough interest? It's not a big deal for me, I'd as soon rip a dvd and watch the resulting mp4, store the source dvd for backup purposes. But that's not quite so easy for Windows users, they must pay for an effective dvd ripper, while Linux has several open-source ones. I like Handbrake.

I was gonna start a new thread to post about this but I searched DVD and this active thread will do as well as any, I suppose. Hopefully this interests someone!
Earlier today I figured out how to watch encrypted (DRM) retail DVD movies by sharing my PC's DVD drive on my SMB network. My PC is wired via ethernet but the MOJO is fully wifi. The same trick should work for a lot of Blu-Ray and all HD-DVD discs.
First off, I tried just sharing the optical drive on the network. Sorta worked, I could view the files but I couldn't play the movie. So I did a bit more research and figured out that Android doesn't have anything to decrypt your DVD's DRM (as some of you have noted) so I went back to the drawing board. Eventually I came across a Windows program called AnyDVD HD that decrypts DVDs, Blu-Rays, and HD-DVDs on the fly, seconds after you pop them into the drive. I downloaded and installed version 7.3.0.0 from a certain torrent site, you know the one. Don't worry, AnyDVD is no longer in business because they weren't allowed to be making the program in the first place, so you couldn't buy the program if you tried. Installed and patched AnyDVD HD, popped in my retail Scarface anniversary edition DVD and voila! Starts up and plays in seconds via Kodi. Even gets rid of those pesky trailers and FBI warnings. Like I said, this should work with most if not all DVDs and HD-DVDs. Blu-Rays are a little more hit or miss because as I understand it, with each new release they tweak the DRM a bit making it hard for programs like this to keep up.
It might not be as streamlined as having an external plugged directly into it, but for as often as I watch physical media I don't mind walking 20 ft over to my PC and popping the disc in the drive. Hopefully this is useful to everyone! If anyone has questions, feel free to ask!
EDIT: I'm thinking about maybe starting a YouTube channel for MOJO/possibly just general Android Box discoveries, and tips and tricks I've learned. Is this interesting to anyone/would anyone want to contribute?

Excellent work! If I thought I got surprised finding out about streaming shared ROM files, through ES File Explorer, directly to any of Robert Broglia's emulators. That totally blows my mind. But streaming DVD's wirelessly from one device to another? LOL Hot damn.
Technology... you scare me sometimes.
Hi I need some help please , I recieved the tv box from a friend with no remote. I plug in adaptor as well as usb to pc to power it up. There is blue light on tv box but no display on hdmi or av input. Any suggestions on how to switch it on or what to do.
It may be possible to control it using a usb keyboard and mouse if you could see the picture and it has the correct drivers. The picture thing sounds like the biggest problem, I would suggest trying different HDMI cables and tv settings. This is highly unlikely, but if by any chance your friend turned on usb debugging before the picture stopped working, there is a tool called scrcpy that can be used with adb that allows you to view your screen on your computer. It’s quite possible that the thing has broken itself, there’s a lot of reviews online about Android TV boxes spontaneously breaking after only a few months of use, sometimes less than that.
