I was running Cyanogen 6.1 on my HTC Dream fine, after that i decided for full downgrade. So i searched google for it and found the cyanogen wiki for doing it. I followed each step and after flashing DREAIMG.NBH to my phone, it restarted. And so it entered a boot loop. I took off the batery and then tried to enter recovery or the bootloader. When powering the phone normally, i see the T-Mobile logo, and after that, the screen turns black. Whenever i try Camera + Power, after the logo it goes to black screen. Home + Power points the same thing and so does back + power. Fastboot doesn't seem to work even though i have all drivers properly installed and the Android ADB Device shows under Device Manager.
I know i messed up because i didn't wipe before the downgrade. If there is any possibility to repair it? If so..what is to be done?
Thank you in advance!

Okay, so I tried to upgrade my HTC Magic (Vodafone UK) from Cyanogen's 1.4 ROM to the 4.2.5 version (using instructions in his wiki). To do this I had to run the update from the HTC website and then run the cyanogen mod 4.2.5. I did this and my phone would turn on but then just go to a black screen after the Vodafone logo and android logo. So to try and fix it I went back into recovery mode and just ran the update.zip from the HTC website.
Now, my phone turns on, goes past the Vodafone load screen and on to the 'Android' screen, but when it should load the actual phone software, the screen just goes black.
If I try to load into recovery mode (hold home while turning on) I just get a picture of a phone and an exclamation mark. (which I think means its now un-rooted, but I may be wrong)
Is there any way I can fix this?
Thanks for your help
Also, now half the time when I try to turn my phone on I just get a red LED flash and nothing happens
Hello,
my friend has a problem with his phone. He neither installed a custom rom, nor he rooted it. He updated OTA and after a week, while he was talking, the phone shut down.
When he powers it on the screen lights up and nothing else happens. Sometimes the vodafone splash came up, but nothing more.
I don't know if the phone boots into recovery as I don't see anything on the screen.
I tried booting to fastboot mode, and the pc detects it. But I whatever I try to do, (flash, erase etc) I get the error: Remote not allowed...
Any ideas how to fix it?
try a new ROM?
How? The screen shows nothing... And i haven't rooted it so I can flash another rom
did you try to turn it on and push VOL- to go into SPL menu
yes th screen lights up and but it shows nothing
Basically, I went to install CM10.2 and then when I flashed it and started up my phone I got the LG logo, and the whole screen went weird with green, red and blue lines and such. Then the CyanogenMod logo comes up and it's loading like forever, I also don't know how to go back into recovery mode without using ROM manager. Because if I can get back into recovery mode I can try to reinstall CM10.2 + gapps.
Any help?
EDIT: Never mind, every thing works!
is good you solved the problem, but, just to know, CWM is : vol up + power button
I have a vzw g2. I wanted to download the recent OTA and have run into a major problem. I am rooted and had TWRP but returned to stock recovery using post #7 (flashify post) on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582195. After the download when the phone tried to reboot it went briefly to the LG screen then some white lettering flashed on the screen too fast to read. The screen then black (with a slight backlight) and never did anything else.
Unfortunately it doesnt boot enough to get in download mode or to ADB. I have tried to volume down and power to do hard reset. It goes to hard reset screen and I press power to reset and it quickly goes to black screen again.
I can try to upload the video of me trying to reboot if that helps. I would greatly appreciate the help.
firgured it out by following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
So, I rooted and tried flashing the stock ROM (from Sammobile, same country, same exact model [SM-G950F], I already had the stock ROM and had never flashed anything else to the phone other than root, June security update, my phone had July's) to see if I could fix a problem that couldn't be fixed with any other method I had tried.
Everything in Odin seemed to go well, I got the PASS green box at the end. But then the phone couldn't go pass the Samsung logo when booting up. I left it quite a few minutes, before trying to boot into recovery mode and wiping data. Only to realize that I couldn't boot into recovery mode. In fact, I can't even turn the phone off. No combination of hardware keys works other than power button + bixby + vol down, to get into download mode. But that's of no use, because when I plug my phone into my PC (with the same cable and port I used before to root and flash the firmware into it) it is not recognized by Odin or the PC.
It just has the Samsung logo flashing slowly over and over because I can't turn the device off. By the time the battery dies out I'll most likely have the logo burnt into the display.
I also haven't been able to find any help online. Everyone's suggestion is “boot into recovery and wipe data”, but I can't do that.
Is my phone gone for good?
