It seems the apk for Netflix has been leaked can't seem to get it to work fully but maybe someone else can.

I was able to install and launch. I can search movies and manage my queue, but I get an error if I try to stream. Looks more like Netflix is blocking it than a system error.
It would be great to get Netflix streaming.
Netflix DRM on Android
Netflix not streaming seems to be a DRM issue. More info in this thread.

Amazon Prime bought Netflix of Europe, try their 30 day free movies on their instant video page,3000 movies so far, Free!
I use it on my A7,its great. After free trial its only $79.95 yr.
That s cheaper than Netflix USA and Blockbuster.
Thanks! I am a prime member but didn't know vids could be played on my elocity.

Netflix - Amazon Prime?
I am also a Prime member and can stream videos just fine to my Mac or my lil netbook, but when I try on the A7 tab, it returns a message that Amazon does not have this set up yet for mobile devices. I've even tried signing in through various browsers to the full Amazon site, but each time it seems to recognize my device and says it's not supported.
If you are running something that allows you to stream videos, please do tell!
there are some alternatives to playing hulu / netflix on your mobile...
PlayOn makes it possible to stream from your pc to mobile/tablet.
TVersity makes it possible to stream from hulu.com (no netflix i think)
on your tablet, use something like Skifta to play the DLNA stream, it works.. i tried it with Tversity / hulu.com .. not perfect, but it works..
maybe someone got a better dlna based and cheaper solution?
Netflix app released on market work with several devices wonder how we can make the a7 look like the evo 4g.

if it rely on "DRM" , A7 does not even support it at all..
my port "Blur" do support it, but not sure if its 100% implemented correctly from my side with directories and apps running.
A7 stock firmware has not support at all for DRM media.

I'm confused. I'm able to run Amazon Prime video no problem on mine. I don't remember if there was a app on amazon or what (my fuzzy brain seems to be telling me that there was a download prompted by Amazon the first time I went to the video section).

Specs say it does. Pretty much all new devices support DLNA. My Samsung Fascinate has it... Inspire has it.. the Moto Atrix does.
The Fascinate and Inspire have it hidden up in the Gallery app, but not here on the Xoom.
Twonky Client works good as a DLNA client and server, but its not showing up in the Market for the Xoom.
Man, maybe it doesn't....???!?!!
Phonearena says it does -
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Motorola-XOOM-CDMA_id5123
However, Motorola doesn't mention that it does (the Atrix spec says it tho)
http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/U...d-Services/Tablets/ci.MOTOROLA-XOOM-US-EN.alt
I hope this doesn't mean we cant use DLNA apps....
It doesn't have to come native for the device to support it. There are a few apps in the market that handle DLNA stuff. What I would love to see would be something to the level of Airplay from the iOS devices. Gotta admit its kinda cool how simple it looks. I would think Google would be all over this trying to push Google TV as well as tablets.
I wonder why Twonky Client doesn't show up. Its installed on my Inspire 4G and I can run the movies from my desktop server perfectly fine.
I then tried PlayON...but guess what, I need Flash.
Im not sure what you guys are trying to accomplish. I have had success with TVersity. Set up a server and navigate to http://IP.OF.THE.SERVER:41952/medialib/browse and watch videos. I use RockPlayer. To play over 3G/4G requires a buffer RockPlayer doesn't have, so I am waiting for an update to VPlayer. With Vplayer on 2.2 I can stream the exact same way as on the EVO, but over 3G/4G when I enable the buffer. It allows the video to pause when data is dropping, and then continue when the connection catches up. To stream with TVersity on a XOOM/RockPlayer requires a steady wifi/4g signal.
Was just curious if anyone else had any luck with this. I have a COX HBO subscription and received a flyer in the mail informing me that I could watch HBO movies for free via the internet thru HBOGO.com because I have an HBO subscription.
I thought well hell maybe I can watch HBO movies on my Xoom. Sure enough HBO and COX are not blocking it or anything but the damn Xoom browser gets all buggy and either freezes or crashes somewhere during the movie.
It also works if you have an HBO subscription with Verizon, Comcast and DirectTV, etc..
Was curious to see others experiences with this and their Xoom...I watched a few minutes of Vertigo, Terminator Salvation and Avatar before the Xoom browser crashes.
I tried in the stock browser, Firefox and Dolphin HD. The flash just doesn't seem to be able to handle it.

Yeah I tried skyfire and dolphin as well with no luck. Stock worked best but eventually crashes.
I did a Google search and apparently HBO is coming out with an HBOGO app for iOS and Android, so hopefully that comes out sooner rather than later...or at least we get a working stable flash player/browser at some point.
Im with directv.
I was able to get the stock browser to play but not without using unconventional methods. The video plays great once you actually get it to work.
I was able to get it to work with the stock browser. I only watched a few minutes of a show so I don't know how stable it was.
We all know Dolphin Hd isnt honeycomb friendly yet...So why not try Dolphin Mini..It works 20 times better than Dolphin Hd
Try dolphin mini works perfect once you get it to play. Kinda gotta tap it a few times to get it cuz it disapears but awesome. Just watched a movie on it. Dolphin mini is not like dolphin HD at all. Set it up though through settings as desktop user agent and flash always on

Thanks for the tips guys!!
I just tried HDMini and it worked for awhile and then the movie started skipping and freezing with the movie Vertigo. I DID get thru avatar so HD MINI sure beats stock.
Thanks again man!!!

I am able to use HBO to go with the stock browser in my xoom. I found that searching for movies in the portriat oriantation helps to see all the choices. I watch them full screen in landscape over wifi. The video is a little blockie looking but its a good start!
I'm disappointed watching HBOGO on my XOOM. My wife has an iPad2 and it streams and look beautiful everytime. However, on the XOOM it will invariable get blocking and even freeze at times. There must be more overhead to display it in safari as we are both using the same high speed internet connection.
I was just thinking about the whole movie rental thing not being available to root users because they are lumping us all in with thieves. How's this for a solution?
Instead of making it where we can't rent movies, can't they just make it where we aren't able to download them to the device (in other words, no pinning.) and only make them streamable? I would be happy with that. I mean, it would suck for flights and stuff where you don't have a connection, but It'd be better than the solution that they've currently got going.
Thoughts?
screw that they get no money
the movie industry can continue to screw themselves over
Yeah I dont understand... it just gives people a REASON to Pirate movies.
"oh I cant rent this movie on my tablet? Fine then I'll just hit up a torrent site"
Expecting the media copyright holders to be reasonable might be a bit naive
Google has to go along with whatever crazy **** they demand to license their content.
I have no problem whatsoever paying for a rental. I pay for netflix, hulu and frequently comcast on-demand stuff already. If I want to watch a movie on my tablet though, and the easiest thing to do is hit up usenet, then so be it. It usually downloads faster that way anyway.
If they want my money, they just have to make it convenient or at the very least not annoying...

On another thread someone said that rooted Xooms could rent Google movies, just rent them through the web-based market. I haven't tried it yet.
web market works
Web market works for movie rentals through the native browser, helps to be logged into YouTube with the purchasing account through the browser as well. Also u have to set the quality lower if u didn't purchase the HD version. Works fine on my rooted 3.1 xoom. I have the hulu 10.3 and I believe the root 3.1 included the ua-string. I get errors trying to watch it through the native video app and I can't figure out how to open it in the native YouTube app, but full screen works fine through the browser streaming.
Same applies to watching it through browser on any computer too, we should get more then a day to watch it through...
Just purchase mega viewer pro... problem solved lol

Does it allowed to be downloaded/pinned? I'd like to find a solution for watching offline as I travel often.
All this is going to do is make people want to pirate movies. If it isn't easy to just purchase the movie than people are just going to go through other routes to get it on their device.
They are targeting root users, root users are the ones that know how to get stuff on the device without having to go through the market. In my opinion they will for sure lose more money by doing this.
Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but today when I was browsing the android market through the browser I saw Netflix and went to it as my droid x is compatible and was going to have it send to that device when I noticed that android market had my A500 listed as compatible also. It sent it to my A500 and installed. It launches without any warning about non-compatible device. Though I get an error while attempting to stream. Anyone else get this also?
tryed looking up the netflix app 4 my a500 not showing for me
I was able to install the app from the market, but when I tried to stream it says,"Sorry we could not reach the netflix service. Please try again later. If the problems persists please visit netflix.com. (11000)"

I don't understand why they would rather have it working on phones first before tablets..I can't watch a damn movie on my evo 3d to be honest
i don't even see the app. I downloaded it a while ago and when I click the app it says this version of application is no longer supported (12008)
WTH the evo 3d has netflix now. I know this tablet is way better then some of the ones they support. Lets go netflix get your mind right
Just got my A500 via Staples mail order. Using the stock browser, I tried to catch up on my Falling Skies via XfinityTV with no success. Instead of a show, I got a message to install Microsoft Silverlight plug-in.
One of the reasons I got a tab is to be able to watch shows online when I'm stuck waiting for family at rehearsals, etc. I already have an e-reader and a video player, so this is the gap I need to cover.
Is this possible? Do I need a different browser? Or am I outta luck?
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE: In case anybody else is interested in this, Comcast "thinks" that the Xfinity android app will be updated to allow actual tv episode watching in a couple of months. Apple took precedence and they will eventually finish working on it for Android. Meanwhile, their app is good for controlling your DVR remotely, which is useless for me, which is why I tried to watch through the browser. Which is why I ended up posting here.
As far as I know there isn't any silverlight support for android yet. There was a project called moonlight that was supposedly going to bring silverlight to android but I did not hear anything new about it for the past 6 months, so I assume it is dead.

To whom? It's hardly Acers or Google's fault that these sites decided to use a Windows only technology for their media streaming.
HBOGo on A500 works.
And given that HBOGo app streams video in H.264, the stream from the website is higher quality.
I am using Dolphin Browser
Did you install the app (from where, I don't see it in market) or do you just navigate to hbo dot com via browser? Thanks.

Almost. If you're on honeycomb 3.1, you need to go into your browser's settings and set the viewing mode to "desktop." If you're still on 3.0, you will need to set your browser to debug mode to enable desktop UA string.
Though really, you will want to watch on 3.1 because supposedly it gets better video performance with Flash.
And if some of the online shows require real player how do you watch that since
the extension is .smil and android real player can't open that to play.
Trying to run hbogo on stock browser along with dolphin opera and Firefox all a nogo has laggy video audio is great but picture very slow running 3.2 stock rom but these sites only run when in desktop mode tablet mode not an option any have a working apk version to install and see if we can get it working or some good setting for the browser

Greetings everyone, this is my first post. I found this comment and recalled seeing this on a blog of Jeffrey Steadfast who was developing that:

Unfortunately there's no update. We've been so focused on fixing bugs and implementing new features for MonoTouch and Mono for Android we just haven't had time to look at Moonlight anymore.
